Episode VI: Flan, Custard and Pudding.

An Indeterminable Amount Of Time Ago

The Valley Of Dessert was a beautiful and tropical paradise. Cupcakes grew on trees, M&M's flowed like a river, and a giant Ice Cream Oasis was always around every corner. This place was similar to the famed Forest of Foodstuffs, but it was all about dessert – and as peaceful a place as you would ever want to go.

Standing in one corner of this tropical heaven was a giant door; blue with silver trim. This was a famed door that was said to house a great treasure to anyone brave enough to open it. It was because of the great dessert door – and the treasure – that three young people were traveling through the Dessert Valley.

“We're almost there, my friends.” Pepper was a young man with dark, wavy hair and a clean-cut face. He was as friendly as anyone could be. He led the way towards the giant door of legend.

“That's a relief.” Pibb was a giant man with long, black hair. He was a good soul and a true friend, although he had one secret that was . . . hurtful.

“About time.” Following behind the two was Pepsi, a beautiful woman with hair like wild fire. She was here to help Pepper find the legendary treasure – since Pepper was engaged to marry her.

“At long, glorious last . . .” Pepper looked on as they climbed to the top of a hill and the door came into view in the Valley below them. “We have found it! I never imagined it could really be done . . . but we have done it! Though I suppose the grandest part of it all is that I can share this moment with my best-friend and my soon-to-be-wife...”

“Uh huh.” Pepsi seemed less enthusiastic.

The three hurried forward to the giant indigo door. Pepper grabbed the door and pushed with all his might. Pibb and Pepsi joined him quickly and finally the door began to budge. At first it seemed like it was hardly moving; but then all at once the door swung open and a grand light filled the entire valley.

Pepper opened his eyes and in front of him he saw a brilliant, beautiful light that shined with every color in existance!

“Amazing . . .” Pepper breathed.

“Whoa . . .” Pibb was standing not far away, starring at another beam of light -- and Pepsi starred at a third beam of light.

Suddenly Pepper heard a voice. He starred at the light in front of him and he heard a voice speak in his ears. At first it was soft, but then he could hear it as clearly as day.

“To ye who cast thy eyes upon the Light of Knowledge, open thy heart and accept these teachings.”

Pepper felt knowledge jump into his mind. He had suddenly learned all the secrets of The Flan. He had become the first Flan-I Master, the Flan itself had given him the knowledge and the power. He closed his eyes and breathed in deeply . . . he felt not just air, but the very spice of life fill his lungs.

The great light vanished and Pepper looked about. He saw Pibb and Pepsi both on their knees, both coming out of similar trances. A feeling inside him – his senses – told him that they had learned similar things like he did.

“I . . . understand Custard.” Pibb said, standing up.

“Pudding . . . it's like I'm a part of it.” Pepsi whispered.

“This is . . . truly amazing!” Pepper grinned. “We must use this new knowledge . . . to help the world.”

Also A Time That Happened Before The Present

“Pibb, my old friend! How have you been?” Pepper walked into the Flan-I Temple he had built and found, much to his amazement, that his best friend Pibb was waiting for him. At once, Pibb stood up from the couch and he looked uneasy. Pepper could sense that something was wrong.

“Pepper . . . we need to talk.” Pibb said in a somber voice.

“Something is wrong . . . Ronnie, Phazon, can you excuse us?” Pepper did not turn around, but he seemed to sense his young students. At once the two Flan-I Apprentices yelped and ran out of the room. They had been following behind their teacher. “There . . . we are alone now. Please... tell me what's happening.”

Pibb looked down at his hand. “Pepper, my friend . . . it is about Pepsi.”

Pepper's eyes widened. “Is she alright? Has something happened to her!?”

Pibb shook his head at once. “She is safe, do not worry.”

Pepper sighed in relief. “You had me worried! I thought my love was lost to me.” He looked up at Pibb and, upon seeing the look on his face, his relief vanished. “What is it, my friend?”

“Ah . . . Pepper . . . You should know . . . Lately, you have been so busy training Flan-I . . . you took more students than either of us . . . you've been so busy . . . as it is, she felt lonely . . . I'm not sure how it happened, but she and I . . .”

Pepper's eyes narrowed into dark slits. “What are you trying to tell me, Pibb?”

“Pepsi and I . . . have fallen in love.” Pibb admitted, not looking his friend in the eyes.

Pepper looked down at his hands. Then he growled. “Get out! Get out of my temple!”

Pibb shook his head. “Please, try to understand--”

“IF I SEE YOU AGAIN I WILL KILL YOU!” Pepper roared back. Pibb was shocked.

“Pepper . . . my friend . . .”

“PEPPER IS DEAD,” Pepper growled even louder. “From this day on . . . I am Soda! Now GET OUT!”

Not As Long Ago As The Other Ones

“Have you heard from Master Soda, lately?”

The Flan-I Temple was now full of many students and apprentices. In the living room there sat the two Masters; Spoony and Phazon. They had been having a conversation about their new apprentices when Phazon suddenly turned the subject back to their teacher.

“Ah . . . no, I haven't.” Spoony admitted. “You?”

“Not a word.” Phazon shook his head. “He hasn't been the same in ages . . . ever since that Pibb guy showed up that one day.”

“Yeah, it's a strange thing.” Spoony agreed. “All we can do, though, is keep training our students to be apprentices, and our apprentices to be Flan-I.”

Phazon nodded. “Good point. Ah, but my apprentice . . . did you hear what he's done now?”

“What?” Spoony raised an eyebrow, intrigued.

“He bought a pet leech.” Phazon smirked. “I've never heard of such a thing . . . he named it Shannon . . . a lot of the students have been complaining he's been trying to feed them to Shannon.”

Spoony shook his head. “Wow . . . well, that's pretty crazy. Speaking of apprentices, I actually have to take Crystal out on a mission.”

As if some cosmic writer who controlled their universe was using that statement to advance their lives, the alarm suddenly rang. Red lights flashed. Phazon looked over at a computer.

“Bank robbery in progress. Got your wish.” Phazon smirked.

“Darn it . . . alright!” Spoony sighed. Phazon was still smirking . . . until a second alarm went off!

“Ladies and Gentlemen, I'd like to thank you for being a lovely crowd. None of you tried to be heroes and you've even handed over your personal belongings with minimal prompting! I'm happy to have robbed you today.” A hooded bandit was standing on the counter of a bank, holding a bag of money.

He jumped off the counter and ran towards the door. “MAN, why didn't I think of this thief thing sooner?”

As he opened the door, he came face to face with Flan-I Knight Spoony and his apprentice Crystal Rose. The hooded bandit blinked.

“Don't you know stealing is wrong?” Crystal asked him, crossing her arms.

“Eh? Well . . . yeah . . . but . . . Get outta my way!” The Bandit replied.

Spoony shook his head. “Okay Crystal, try using the flan, like I taught you.”

“Okay!” Crystal nodded happily (apparently unconcerned that the thief would harm them) and she waved her hand. The hooded bandit quirked an eyebrow.

“Was that it? Oooooooookay, you're clearly crazy. Well, I'm out of her-- AHH, my shoe laces!” As the hooded bandit tried to run away he realized that Crystal had untied his shoes with the flan. He tripped and fell down the front steps of the bank, landing by the street with a loud thud.

“Oh no . . . is he dead?” Crystal asked.

“Naw. He's just in too much pain to move. You did good!” Spoony nodded proudly. “Let's get out of here.”

Crystal blinked. “What about the thief?”

Spoony shrugged. “Don't worry about him. He's a third-rate character, the kind we'll never see again.”

As the two Flan-I walked away, heading back to the temple, the hooded bandit managed to mutter: “Ouch ka bibble.”

Phazon's mission had taken him and the young HA to the middle of Teh Town, a small town where nothing exciting ever happened. Phazon and HA were walking down the street, but their presence went almost entirely unknown.

“Where are we?” HA asked, looking around. “This place looks as exciting as a lampshade in a trashcan.”

“Mmm... well, the locals seem to be having fun.” Phazon looked over to the yard of a house where a boy with blond hair dressed all in blue was listening to a CD Player while a younger girl in green was lying on the grass, drawing.

“Pfft. Locals. They never do anything exciting.” HA shook his head, looking away from the locals. “I think this mission was a load of crock.”

What Phazon and HA did not know was that a woman with wild red hair was hiding in a tree, watching them. Pepsi cupped her hands in front of her lips and blew out a gust of air. The air was black and floated down towards Phazon, floating into his ears.

“Eh?” Phazon blinked twice, and he felt different. “Hmm... Let's go back, HA.”

“What? What about the mission?” HA asked.

“Forget it. I have . . . thinks to do.”

Pepsi was pleased. She had infested the Flan-I Master with darkness. Not long after Phazon returned, he tracked down his old Master Soda and had a deadly confrontation with him. Never knowing that the evil desires that led him to betray and murder his master had been a part of Pepsi's scheme.

That was not the extent of her scheme, either. She had driven Pepper so insane with his jealousy of Pibb that he Pepper would murder the Custard-I. She was one of the important reasons why Pepper had done what he did.

Modern Day

In another part of the same underground facility where Kimi and Rowen were being held captive, Pepsi sat on her throne. Her eyes burnt with fire and she seemed as dangerous – or even more so – than her former lover Pepper.

“Pepper... Pibb... I will destroy your students...”

Short? Yes! This new installment resembles Ed Elric indeed! It still doesn't explain what CHoW and the GDF are doing, and it doesn't tell you much about Tazzy's adventure in the desert or C_R and HA going to save Kimi and Rowen or what's up with Sama and Koa. So... yeah, lots of unanswered stuff...

I just wanted to talk about Pepsi's past, as well as Pibb and Pepper's.

Eep! I didn't respond to the reviews! Forgive meeeeeee!

TS
^^ I'm delighted you feel that way. I'd like to update every month on the first with something.

Cojo
XD That's unusual for me, isn't it? I'm glad you enjoyed it! The next one -- which is the finale of this Story Arc -- will be up pretty soon! ... um... soonish... um... eventually. XD

CR-chan
I enjoy making people's days! ^^ I'm glad I did. I'm also glad it was interesting!

XD I assume everyone knows who the bandit was, as well as the "locals"...?

Dark Phazon - June 2, 2007 04:43 AM (GMT)
Flashback Filler! Nice!

AGodofIrony - June 2, 2007 05:50 AM (GMT)
So that's what you meant when you said Part VII...

So, now I gotta finish writing something so the epicness of the end of this arc can begin!

And cameos are awesome!

*Runs off to write and such.*

Tazzy Porqupine - June 2, 2007 12:27 PM (GMT)
Took me a while to figure out the locals, I was thinking too hard. "Why's she have to be in all green, how is that significant? Can't she be in blue, to match her-- OOOOOOHHHHH....." XD

I love Shannon's little cameo. XD Which reminds me.... I still have yet to finish drawing that scene; it's been halfway done for a while now. To my sketchbook, awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!

DP

I'm glad you liked it!

... It won't be August. (Put my bet down for July...)

AGOI

Yes! This is my meaning indeed. I hope I didn't do something that messes up Pibb's past... sometimes it's hard for me to remember all the details from previous stories... but you didn't say I screwed up, so I guess I didn't! Yay!

Tazzy-chan

Heh. XD I just wanted to throw those two in somewhere since it was the past. I'm glad you figured it out!

YAY! The picture! I had forgotten about it (Re: My forgetfulness) but now that you've reminded me I can hardly wait! I hope you finish it!
