Title: Favorite Anime Moments.
Description: We all have em.

Avenger29 - June 3, 2007 04:46 PM (GMT)
So, I was watching this DBZ clip just now, and I thought this would be an awesome discussion to have. What is everybody's favorite anime moment?

For me, obviously, its the clip I posted. I've always been a huge Vegeta fan, but when he did this... It was just... Wow. It showed all sides of his personality. The cocky Saiyan prince. The deadly serious warrior. And the rarely seen caring family man. It pretty much locked him in as my favorite of all time. To have Piccolo there to somewhat send him off was kinda cool for me, since, for me, he and Pic will always be linked.

So thats my number one alltime favorite. What are your faves?

I don't usually think about this, but if I really had to choose something for this, my answer would be The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya's 12th episode (12th in both chronological and Japanese TV Broadcast order). Overall, I just love it.

Gosh, it's between:

-Ichigo releasing his bankai against Byakuya

-The big Naruto and Sasuke memory thing as the Chidori and Rasengan met

I have two @_@ Yeah.

Ya, Ichigo's first bankai release was big...

but that reminds me of another I could add (which would have been even better if I hadn't of spoiled myself), from a couple episodes after that:

Episode 60 of Bleach.

Oh...

DO remind me what happened in episode 60 >.O I never watched the anime... but I'm up to date on the manga! :D

Think "return of someone once thought dead, and the part that happened just after that..." :shifty:

AH! Yes, I loved that moment, too.

But 'End of Hypnosis' (the manga volume that moment happens in) doesn't come out til August... T_T

Well, I have too many to list... so I'll try to keep this brief and probably fail miserably.

Anywho, as far as Dragonball related moments go, I'd have to say:

When Goku is briefly reunited with his dead grandfather, Gohan, in Baba's little competition.

When Goku first uses the Dragon Balls to revive someone. In this case, Bora, Upa's father.

The very first time you ever see Goku shed a tear, as he runs off blindly with revenge on his mind after the first death of Krillin. He even goes as far as to completely ignore Master Roshi's order to come back.

When Goku meets Chichi again after several years in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, and doesn't recognize her due to how different she looks from when she was a little girl. Pretty much that whole episode, actually, is one that I like. Especially Krillin's reactions to Chichi... XD

When Goku meets Princess Snake... that was another one I really liked. I especially like the part where she sees his nightmare about Chichi and Gohan (his son, not his grandpa, before anyone that's "not in the know" asks) being in danger.

When Goku has to tell jokes to King Kai. XD

When Goku arrives on Planet Namek and the way Recoom acts towards him.

When Goku and Pikkon fight Freiza and Cell in the afterlife. Well... actually it was more along the lines of Pikkon fighting Freiza and Cell and Goku just watching in amazement, but ya! XD

When Goku is gathering energy from everyone on Earth to form a Spirit Bomb powerful enough to obliterate Majin Buu (his final and true form). It was really nice to see a lot of the long forgotten characters make these nice little cameos.

The final episode of GT... I'm not that big of a GT fan, but even I kinda felt a little tearful on that episode.

Okay, now that I got that outta the way, it's time to go into other anime!

My favorite moment in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya would have to be... er, crap, that's waaaaay too spoilerific. Let's just say... pretty much the majority of the episode "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya VI". I don't remember what it is chronologically (DP might, though), but in TV Brodcast order it would be episode 14.

In Digimon... there's several that I like, actually, but most would be in Digimon Adventure. I love the the part in this one episode where Myotismon (Vamdemon to those only familiar with the Japanese version) seduces a young woman in a dark alley and... maybe even hypnotizes her? Well, whatever happened, she kinda felt drawn to him, and she came in to kiss him... then he bit her neck and sucked out some blood. Okay... my description probably doesn't do it justice. However, you can watch it here. It happens just after the opening theme.

Hmmm... there's a whole lot more, but if I continue I'll be going into anime that most people at this board are unfamiliar with, so I'll just leave it at that. I could probably list a whole lot more from Digimon, as well, actually, but... heh, I said I wanted to keep this brief! Ya... I know, I did fail at that, didn't I? :heh:

Some of my favorite things!

Trigun

It's hard to pick certain moments when I love this whole series from top to bottom, but aside from some hilarious humor, there's some really dramatic moments that I absolutely love. Such as when Vash has to fight Legato and is finally forced to take someone's life... it's a really powerful scene.

Fullmetal Alchemist

Aside from the hilarity that always ensues when milk, height and wrenches are involved, I'd have to say that there's a looooot of moments in FMA that I'm a huge fan of. The final battle between Roy and Bradley is epic, those "brooding Ed" moments are a lot of fun... there's just a lot of good drama here.

Digimon

One of my all time favorite anime moments is when Tai rushes in to save Sora in Datamon's Pyramid thing. :3 I really liked that one, despite having not seen it in several years.

... I dunno. It's hard to think as I didn't sleep well last night. I'll get back to this thread tomorrow.

I remember that episode!! Hilarious!!!

Also, chronologically, the episode titled "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya VI" is the 6th episode, hence the "VI"! :p And yeah, that episode was awesome, too. Well, the whole series was awesome!

Kimiko - June 5, 2007 05:30 AM (GMT)
Oh! I forgot a few of my other favorites...

I really like the entire first episode of Samurai Champloo. XD Like when Mugen is having that dream of his fight with Jin, with the fire and the bathtub... XD

And I love that one episode of Cowboy Bebop (I don't remember which one, as I only watched it when Adult Swim aired it, and that was a while ago) when Spike falls through the stain glass window and the fall is REALLY slow... I liked that scene.

Oh! And when Ed passed the State Alechmist Exam. And the Dante v. Hohenheim (sp?! I dunno! XD) fight... and when Ed and Al found out Hughes was dead! They went all postal on the door way... XD

EDIT: TMoHS!

I love the entire Asahina Mikuru Adventure episode. XD There. Athlete's Foot! (actually, that joke was in the orginal light novel, but was left out of the anime, and then put in the english dub... hm...)

Clown Prince of Crime - June 5, 2007 05:32 AM (GMT)
Indeed... the whole series was awesome. I have to say, though, if the whole series had been shown in chronological order, that episode would have lost a lot of its impact. :hs:

As for what you quoted me on... ya. XD "Hey, Krillin! What's a bride?"

Oh, and GS... that was pretty good, too! Oh, and also my favorite episode is the one where Tai comes back to Earth for the first time in the series. I love that episode and it always gets me right here. *pounds chest with right first*

Er... if I get into Digimon, I'll be here typing all night long, so I must refrain... must refrain... :heh:

EDIT: OH!! OH!! OHHH!! Yes, that Cowboy Bebop scene that Kimi just mentioned? I love that scene, too! Plus, the music that they played and everything! Heh... I was wondering how the heck Spike would survive that when I first saw it. XD

One of the few episodes of DBZ I remember... I liked DB a lot better...

Technically, that actually was DB, not DBZ, despite them already being grown-up. Well... older teens, anyway (Goku and Chichi were 18 and Krillin was 19).

I call everything Dragonball, though, because the original Japanese version of the manga didn't have a Z. Akira Toriyama only added the Z for the anime version because Z was the last letter in the alphabet. See, he was thinking that adding the Z in there would allow people to know that "the series will end soon". Heh... boy, was he wrong! XD

That actually was DB. :p

EDIT: As CPoC posts a ton more info in the time it takes me to type three words, and abbreviation, click a smiley, and click submit.

But I do agree with Kimiko, I like the more humorous series of the younger pre-Gohan Goku than the Z series, though the Z part isn't that bad (just really slow at getting stuff moving at times)

Kimiko - June 5, 2007 05:41 AM (GMT)
Ah, thus showing what little I know about Dragonball XYZ WHATEVER XD

I remember Bulma dressed up like a Playboy bunny (for, I'm sure, some perfectly logical reason) and everyone in town thought she was a member of an evil bunny-suited mafia... XD Goku was little then, right? And they had a pig with them...

I remember Bulma dressed up like a Playboy bunny (for, I'm sure, some perfectly logical reason)

The reason was because her clothes were dirty. The playboy bunny outfit was the only thing that Oolong (the little pig) had that would fit Bulma. I love the way this one scene went:

Bulma: Oolong! Is this your idea of a joke?! I can't wear this outfit, you little pervert!!

(Note that Bulma has it on anyway)

Oolong: You know... if you don't like it, you didn't have to put it on...

Anywho, yes, Goku was little then. And that was eeeeeaaaaarly DB. Back when the show was more about comedy and less about action.

I did too! Glad to see I wasn't the only one.

Another DBZ episode that made me tear up was when Vegeta was killed by Frieza.

Heh, another funny moment, for me at least, was when Tien went psycho on King Kai with his joke.

"YOU CAN TUNE A PIANO, BUT YOU CAN'T TUNA FISH! DID YOU HEAR ME?!? I SAID, YOU CAN TUNE A PIANO, BUT YOU CAN'T TUNA FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISH!!!"

:OO
