Description: Robots in Disguise!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZp75fWe-ssThat's the trailer to the new movie, Tranformers.
To those who don't know, Transformers are vehicles that transform into a giant freaking robot with stuff like bombs, guns, jets, etc...
I want to see this movie, anyone else?
Clown Prince of Crime - June 17, 2007 04:35 AM (GMT)
I'll definitely go see it. I dunno if I'll be able to see it opening day like I was originally planning to, though... I completely forgot about my trip when I was planning out seeing this. :heh:
I hope the movie's good, though! Autobots! Decepticons! Whooo!

It...... was........ AMAZING!!!
Clown Prince of Crime - July 8, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
Really, now? Hmmm... I really do have to go see this. x_X I haven't really been able to go to the movies at all, lately, though... but hopefully I'll get my chance sometime soon!

I wasn't really into the anime but I loved the toys as a kid. The movie does look pretty cool. Any quick reviews on it? What the movie even about? I'm really interested in it.
Dark Phazon - July 8, 2007 11:51 PM (GMT)
I've heard good things about this movie, but I haven't heard one thing about the one thing I'm really wondering about (from the commercials and trailer I saw of it)... How much is the focus NOT on the Transformers? The previews and what have you seem to make it look, to me at least, that the movie is more focusing on the humans ("Hey, there's these giant robots that landed on Earth so lets try and blow them all up"), and not as much on the Transformers ("Hey, we're Autobots, and they're Decepticons, so lets defeat them to stop their evil ways!")...

PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IN THE BEGINNING OF THE MOVIE!
(Hot Shot, from the cartoon, is called Bumblebee in the movie, and doesn't use his voice until the end of the movie)
The Robots lived on Cybertron, a once peaceful planet. There is 1 cube that can create worlds and is very powerful and according to the movie, the war between Autobots and Decepticons started because of that cube.
The Autobots were in the war because Megatron went AWOL and went for power, which was the cube. Megatron gathered some troops, (i.e Starscream, Devastation, etc....) and went for the Cube. The Autobots tried to stop them, and that's how the war began.
The cube was scattered later in the war and fell to Earth.

Sam is a boy. He is an average student, has artifacts from his Great-Grandfather and has a car.
His car, is Bumblebee.
When Sam is attacked by a decepticon disguised as a police car, Bumblebee transforms and saves Sam.
I'll stop there, because I don't want to say too much.

I do wanna know, though... does the movie focus more on the Transformers or more on the humans? I think DP brought up a pretty good point.
As for Bumblebee... he's not Hot Shot. Bumblebee and Hot Shot are two different Autobots altogether... though since they're both yellow and have a few other similarities, I can see why someone would make that mistake.

You forgot to add Julien-K to that list!
I'm happy. They're back in the mainstream again.

I was never really interested in Transformers, but movie looks totally awesome. I'll definitely go see it. ^__^
BlueRush - July 10, 2007 03:35 AM (GMT)
I saw this movie the other day. It was allright, but Fantastic 4 2 (Fantasic 6? Fantastic 8?) was much better IMO.
I'm actually an old-school fan of Transformers. I watched the cartoon when I was a kid. But... it just felt so forced.
I could see the directors making a list of things they wanted to fit in... a canon Transformers backstory tied in as realistically as they could, a teenager finding a hot girl, hackers, government agencies, giant fighting robots, and of course the absolutely key discussion between the kid and his parents about masturbation. <.<; I wouldn't have mentioned that one if it wasn't painfully true. Hey! They lowered the standards, not me!
It felt rushed and forced; the effects were nice but unenjoyable, as the transformations went too quickly and were too complicated. BUT, it grossed somewhere between 67 and 152 million in its first weekend/premiere, so it must be good, right? I was nice to watch, but I wouldn't watch it again.
Clown Prince of Crime - July 10, 2007 03:39 AM (GMT)
So... I just wanna know, BR... was the focus more on the humans, the Transformers, or was it about equal?
BlueRush - July 10, 2007 03:42 AM (GMT)
HUMANS. Transformers didn't do much except fight and transform. Prime talked a little about Serving, and Megatron talking a little about Destruction, and Bumblebee could only talk through the radio... but the humans drove the story. Focus was almost entirely on the main human characters... all *counts* 6 or 7 of them. ><; Too many subplots too...
But watch it! ^_^ You'll form your own opinions, and anyway it's a must if you at least somewhat like Transformers.
I didn't say too many spoilers did I? :/

While I'm still gonna go try and watch this movie, my expectations have plummeted greatly... :hs:
BlueRush - July 10, 2007 04:05 AM (GMT)
^^; Sorry guys... I really don't think I'm misleading you... No, I'm right... number of lines, number of appearances... importance to story... I'm pretty sure humans win...
Clown Prince of Crime - July 10, 2007 04:22 AM (GMT)
x_o It's kinda like one of the things about Sonic X that really bugged me. Too much attention on Chris and his family/buddies, and not enough on Sonic and the gang. Heck, they even went as far as to have Chris replace Tails and Amy when doing the adaptations of the "Sonic Adventure" games' storylines.
Though... despite its shortcomings, I did still enjoy Sonic X, so there's a good chance I might enjoy this as well, I suppose. ^_^;
BlueRush - July 10, 2007 04:37 AM (GMT)
...Well, we ARE humans, you know. :heh: The producers know the fanbase core will accept the humanoids (be they robots or mobians), but they also know they'll see it or watch it no matter what; it's the mainstream kids that they fear won't relate to the humanoids that they need to appeal to.
Clown Prince of Crime - July 10, 2007 04:47 AM (GMT)
Well, I suppose you have a point there... friggen' mainstream... hmmm... we need a smiley that combines these two: :p & <_< Though the tongue part would be more of a continuous raspberry rather than a simple sticking in and out of the tongue. That would sum up my feelings quite well on how I said the words "friggen' mainstream".

I know lthis is uber gravedigging but I have news based on Transformers :D
Though it didn't look like many of you were happy with the movie I just found out Transformer's sequel has started filiming in Pennsylvania (along with the Avatar movie strangely enough) and will come out in 2009.
Truthfully I only just watched the movie about 5 days ago XD But I actually liked it :3 Bumblebee and Jazz make me happy :3
Theloveyoumakeistheloveyoutake - June 9, 2008 12:21 AM (GMT)
More gravedigging but I liked the movie and you don't have to know a thing about transformers to watch it (not like .hack the movie >=p )
