Title: The Deathly Hallows SPOILERS HERE
Description: Yep. Even El Avengero is interested.
Avenger29 - July 8, 2007 05:53 AM (GMT)
Those who know me know I don't really read the Harry Potter books, and usually the release of one, while pretty much national news for everybody else, is shrugged off by me.
But with the release of this final book in this series, a series that has reached Star Wars levels of popularity, even I'm excited to see how it ends.
So, will Harry die? Is he the last piece of Voldemort's soul? Will the hardcore fanboys even be satisfied with the ending no matter what happens? Will someone shoot someone over a copy of the book?
Post your theories here!
Tazzy Porqupine - July 8, 2007 12:04 PM (GMT)
I'm a bit wary of making predictions about upcoming books, because I always disappoint myself in my wrong-ity. XD However, despite myself, I've begun making predictions on Snape, i.e. whether he is good or bad etc etc.
My prediction is that there'll be a huge ginormous plot twist and he'll be good and him and Harry will be BFFs and they'll both kill Voldie together!!!Yaaaaaay!!! :w00t:
*cough*
...Actually, I don't really have a theory. XD I'm just taking up space.

Well, we have some preordered, we won't have to worry about going to the store while risking getting shot to get one, thankfully. XD
AGodofIrony - July 8, 2007 02:37 PM (GMT)
My prediction!
Rocks fall, they all die. The end!
Just kidding.
But, seriously, I'm looking forward to this book. Heck, I'm the one who got my family into the Harry Potter books, and now, my oldest younger sister (Younger then me, older then my other younger sister) is the Harry Potter fanatic.
And I MIGHT get an English copy from London as well. Of course, my sister gets to read it first, but with how she reads, I'll be reading it before our plane lands.
And predictions? Personally, I think Snape's a good guy. Mostly. I think it's a plan of Dumbledore's. Though, I do believe the poor old wizard is dead...R.I.P.
GoldenSama - July 8, 2007 04:48 PM (GMT)
Firstly: Thank you Avenger, I've meant to make a topic for this.
Secondly: This is now the official HP7 thread and the only place you can discuss DH. That includes spoilers and theories. Srsly, I don't want to know what happens until I read it.
Thirdly: Have fun and enjoy discussing it; soon as I read it I'll join in the discussion.
Dark Phazon - July 8, 2007 05:34 PM (GMT)
I have a kitty named Harry (well, actually it's my mom's, but he follows me almost everywhere when I go downstairs)... Never read any of these books or seen any movies, though, 'cause it isn't really my style of what I'd like to watch/read.

I'd hope not, but if people are as crazy about this as people are about newly released gaming systems (and there's a limited amount available, like there were for the new video game systems), I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen...
Avenger29 - July 8, 2007 10:20 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I figure something like that will DEFINITELY happen when its released. I've got a friend that works at a Krogers that'll be selling the book, and she's dreading the day it'll be released. And thats at a fricking grocery store. I don't even want to imagine how it'll be at places like Borders.
Oh, and as for Dumbledore... I wouldn't be surprised to see him come back in some form during the final battle.

I have a cat named Crookshanks, a cat named Hermione, and a dog named Gryffindor. XD
I'm afraid to read this thread... can we have one for speculation, and one for potential spoilers?

I hope you aren't serious.
((and I hope I'm not embarrasing myself by assuming those are names of characters from this book :heh: ))
BlueRush - July 10, 2007 03:48 AM (GMT)
I am SUPER SERIAL.
No really, I am serious. We call Crookshanks "Crookshanks," Hermione "Mio," and Gryffindor "Gryff." They are ragdoll cats and he is a scottie. I am super, duper serial. XD
In my defense, I didn't name all of them. XD
They are all characters from the book, and if we get more someday, next on the list are "Ginny" and "Tonks." XD

That obviously means you named some of them!

W-Wait! I'm changing my testimony!
PRESS "Y" --- --- --- PRESENT
We got the first cat, Crookshanks, when my sister was little... and she really wanted to name it "Fuzzy." <.<; Literally on the drive there I thought of "Crookshanks" which is at least marginally better. So my excuse to derail bad animal names (actual choices include: "Beauregard" "Finnegan" "Mowzy" "Furry" and "Dot") (OK the last one wasn't that bad) is that we have to keep "the theme." ^^; I swear I would never actually name an animal like that under normal conditions...

Heh, South Park much?
I saw the Goblet of Fire when it came out. Not necessarily by choice, though. I've never really been that interested in the series, but with this book, I kinda am. I mean, it IS the end of an era for literature. Its kind of a big deal!
I probably won't buy the book, though. Thats what
this is for!
Crystal Rose - July 22, 2007 12:50 AM (GMT)
So apparently everyone is gone reading the 7th book....IT's SO empty here XD
*goes off and reads*
:D
Avenger29 - July 22, 2007 03:06 AM (GMT)
Nah, I was with my Nikki. We did go to the bookstore, though. I was surprised to see the place was still standing.
On any note, we were the only people that showed up and DIDN'T want the HP book. I came there for DBZ 22, actually! Oh, and I spoiled the book for five people in the mall.
Evil, I am. Pure evil. Of course, I won't do that to you guys. You all, after all, are my friends, right?
Dark Phazon - July 22, 2007 04:47 AM (GMT)
You know, since this is the only place spoilers can be posted for that book, and a lot of people here like that series and probobly don't want to be spoiled, everyone else here who doesn't care about the series could insult people behind their backs!
GS! You don't frighten us, English pig-dog. Go and boil your bottom, son of a silly person. I blow my nose on you so-called Sama Golden, you and your silly English k... niggets.
BR! I don't want to talk to you, no more, you empty-headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!
XD XD XD
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is awesome!
(and if you don't understand the un-seriousness of the above post, you really should watch that movie!)
AGodofIrony - July 22, 2007 04:50 AM (GMT)
*Twitches madly, clutching the book, looking wide eyed and nervous.*
I finished it about fifteen minutes again...My sis stayed up all last night reading it, and with only us two in the house, (rest of family is camping...*Shudders.* camping) we were able to discuss it openly.
Yah, there's deaths, fights, hilarity, tragedy, and saw very awesome stuff. Neville and Mrs. Weasely do some pwning for their part.
Definately a good read, and, if you haven't read it yet are still reading this topic, there's an epilouge. I had been hoping for one.

Avenger29 - July 22, 2007 02:29 PM (GMT)
Elderberries for the win.
GoldenSama - July 23, 2007 03:54 AM (GMT)
625
^_^ I have waited for that since HP1. :3
...
Some of the deaths felt rushed to me, but I completely understand because JK had SO much left unfinished from previous books that she had to rush some of it. HOWEVER: I feel it was incredible! I loved the fact there was no Hogwarts for the trio and the many adventures.
It was great. ^^ FANTASTIC! I loved it. Especialy 625.
The end... awesome. :D
Dark Phazon - July 23, 2007 03:58 AM (GMT)
What's so good about this 625th page??
...
And darn... no more French insulting of GS... But BR still can get it!!
BR! How you English say: I one more time, mac, I unclog my nose towards you, son of a window-dresser!
AGodofIrony - July 23, 2007 04:03 AM (GMT)
Can't check what 625 had, my mom's reading the book right now, but I have a suspicion...
Hmm...Argh! This book was great! Everything that happened, stuff...so...awesome...and sad.
GoldenSama - July 23, 2007 04:08 AM (GMT)

HELPFUL INFORMATION!

Isn't this the spoilers thread? Or did it suddenly morph into a non-spoilers thread that you can post spoilers in but actually can't post spoilers in because it's a non-spoilers thread? Unless the whole thing about spoilers being allowed was a lie in the first place. Which would follow in line with the lie of that last line saying "HELPFUL INFORMATION!"
AGodofIrony - July 23, 2007 04:29 AM (GMT)
DP has a valid point...GET HIM!
*Cough.* I mean...Yah...
The Epilouge was really good. Nineteen years later...
GoldenSama - July 23, 2007 05:51 AM (GMT)
Yes, DP does have a point, indeed!
...
- Ron & Hermione! ^_^ 625.
Ah, I have waited for this. I've been tellin' people since CoS they'd hook up, but always someone had to argue with me. Well, no more I say! Hahahah! THE SIDEKICK PWNS. He destroyed a Horcrux and he got the girl. ^^ Long Live King Weasley!
AGodofIrony - July 23, 2007 05:58 AM (GMT)
I supported Ron/Hermione too! And sidekicks are awesome.
And...well...None of the big villains got out well...Hmm...
GoldenSama - July 23, 2007 06:27 AM (GMT)
Well, Lucius & the Malfoy Family were once big villains, and they ended up better off than any of the other baddies.
And while Neville did *not* kill Hermione, who he did kill was utterly awesome. :3
AGodofIrony - July 23, 2007 06:57 AM (GMT)
That is true...
And Neville pwned. I'd love to see the story of what Neville, Luna, and Ginny were doing with the D.A. in Hogwarts. That would be awesome.
GoldenSama - July 23, 2007 07:01 AM (GMT)
Yes, yes it would. Though it seems like Dumbledore's Army reformed to battle Snape, unaware that Snape. Hahah... Snape... what a twist! I had feelings that there was more to the story about his killing Dumbledore in HBP than met the eye.
AGodofIrony - July 23, 2007 07:04 AM (GMT)
The Snape thing was truly remarkable! And I like Dumbledore's line later in the book.
"Of course it's all in your head. By why should that mean it's not real?"
I might have that off a bit though.
And Mrs. Weasely too, what she shouted at Bellatrix...Muhahaha! That was brilliant!
GoldenSama - July 23, 2007 08:06 AM (GMT)
XD Yes, Molly has an angry side to her, doesn't she?
Indeed! Dumbledore's line was great.
Kimiko - July 24, 2007 09:06 PM (GMT)
I don't usually read the Harry Potter books, but this one sounds so awesome that I might pick it up and read it... there are lots of um at Wal-Mart.
I've heard about the many deaths in DH... Fred... T_T
BlueRush - July 27, 2007 06:18 AM (GMT)
DP, would you go and tell your master that BR from the court of SRB is here? ;P
FRICKIN' AWESOME. :D Definitely, one of my favorite books ever.
As I went through the book and tried to guess what would eventually happen, I made some predictions, held some beliefs. They were mostly wrong. XD Did Kingsley betray them? Nope. Was Snape really evil? Nope. Was Ron under the Imperius Curse? Nope. But still, I was right that Harry was a Horcrux-- though apparently this was obvious, in retrospect. :heh:
Anyway, WOW. Jay kay can write. One element I really liked was how she'd describe a character having two seemingly unrelated emotions at once, yet the image was easily imaginable and real. Unlike, say, A Series Of Unfortunate Events, which was a great series, don't get me wrong, she really tied up all the loose ends, and neatly, and without retroconning or anything.
Albus Severus Potter wins the Xenophilius Lovegood Award For Ridiculously Awesome Names. Hugo Weasley wins the Terrence Higgs Award For Names That Aren't Very Impressive.
I estimate, from the deathdates on Harry's parent's gravestones, that the seventh book took place in 1997 and the epilogue takes place in 2016. Am I wrong?
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19959323/Yeyz. :3
SO.... Of course, I'll have to get back into the RPs and show I can RP before I get 'Sirius' about it, but... HPRP? Thoughts?? Also respond to my other thoughts in this post, not just the RP one, if you choose to respond at all. :3 Let us discuss HP7!
Kimiko - July 27, 2007 06:31 AM (GMT)
XD I've never wanted to read anything so badly... I've never wanted to READ (period) so badly.
Sara hasn't replied to the message I sent her on Gaia... how does George lose his ear???
And that interview...! I DO want to know the middle names of Harry's great-great grandparents! :D
BlueRush - July 27, 2007 06:35 AM (GMT)
Well, if you REALLY want to know--
OK, first: I'm not going to hesitate with spoilers because if I can resist reading this thread, clearly marked 'spoilers,' then you, probably nonexistent hypothetical reader-of-this-and-then-getting-offended-because-he/she/it's-a-git, can resist too. ;P
George loses his ear when Snape uses his Sectumsempra no Jutsu on him... in midair... on broomsticks! He misses... but he hits him anyway. Wacky, huh?
Kimiko - July 27, 2007 06:41 AM (GMT)
XD Well, at least he didn't lose it some lame way.
But still, one of my two favorite characters is dead and the other has gone all Picasso on me. Since when is it okay to kill one of two twins??? >.O The same reason it was okay to kill Asuma? (A: character development of whoever the heck is left alive)
Well, I'll always have Snape... oh, wait... um... Voldemort? No, and I didn't even like him, either.... Dobby??? Ew. I really didn't like him... how sad, that so many characters died that I want to resort to DOBBY as something to lean on... and I CAN'T. XD
BlueRush - July 27, 2007 06:54 AM (GMT)
"Hey, Ron, check this out, when George rounds the corner I'm going to pop this paper bag right in his ear!"
"Fred, you git, how rude can you get?"
"Hey guys, what's u-" POP "Ahh my ear!!"
Actually, they killed more like 1 and a quarter twins... and Dobby... and Colin Creevy... and many others. :( At least they didn't kill Lupin Tonks Mad-Eye Mundungus.
Actually, you know what my reaction was to Fred dying? I was happy. Immediately. ^^; I'm sorry, I really am, but it's just that right then, I knew Ron and Hermione had to make it. I thought there was a chance one of 'em would go down, especially after 625, but Fred's death was, well, reassuring. ^^; Woulda been one too many close-to-home loss, eh?
Lupin and Tonks... we shoulda seen it coming. Prongs, then Padfoot, then Wormtail... and of course, did we really think there wasn't going to be another orphan? Shoulda seen it comin'. :( Tonks! Lupin! Noooo
Wormtail's death was odd too. "Hey stop strangling me, I saved your life!" "Oh yeah, then I'll just un-save it and then I can kill you! Hah!" Voldemort invented a hand with a built-in mercy sensor that strangles its owner? This kind of thing must be what he does in his spare time when he's not-- ahem-- "away on business," which we all know involves way more beaches than horcruxes. Surf's up, Voldy!
I also didn't care about Mad-Eye's death. I guess if anything I'd miss Barty-Crouch-as-Mad-Eye, but he's been long gone anyway. Not like we ever knew Mad-Eye, really.
Also: woulda been fun to be there with Ginny and Neville, fighting the Carrows... sorry to have missed it... :/
AGodofIrony - July 27, 2007 07:08 AM (GMT)
I to wish I could have seen what was happening at Hogwarts.
And my sis said the same thing about Fred's death as Kimi said! Why kill only one twin? Well, I'm glad they didn't both die, to be honest.
And Dobby dieing...That was sad, for me. And speaking of House Elves...
Kreacher, wow. He really turned himself around in this book! A complete 180! And then leading the Hogwarts Elves against the Death Eaters was awesome. Knives in my ankles!
Heh...Anyways, a Harry Potter RP? I was already tinkering with the thought of using Harry in SW3, since I have a Good Guy slot open...Hmm...
