Title: Digimon
Description: Digital Monsters
Clown Prince of Crime - August 28, 2007 01:21 PM (GMT)
Okay, man... how can there not be a Digimon topic? I know some of you out there are fans!
Anywho, mostly I'm making a topic because Digimon Savers is coming to Jetix (as Digimon Data Squad). Although I haven't seen any advertisements on TV, sometime in early summer it was announced in a press release. Further investigation has revealed that this show will premiere on Jetix on October 1, 2007.

The cast has also been chosen already. The roles are as follows:
Marcus (Masaru) - Quinton Flynn
Yoshino - Colleen O'Shaughnessy
Thomas (Tohma) - Crispin Freeman
Commander Sampson (Satsuma) - Jameson Price
Agumon - Brian Beacock
Gaomon - Skip Stellrecht
Lalamon - Dorothy Fahn
Christie (Chika) - Melissa Fahn
Sarah (Sayuri) - Mary Elizabeth McGlynn
Megumi - Stephanie Sheh
Miki - Kate Higgins
Merukimon - Richard Epcar
Also, as you may or may not know, the American Digimon series had the same theme song for seasons 1-3, but had a different song for season 4. This time... they're gonna have a new one again! Though that should be obvious since this is the first time that an American dub of Digimon has had the name of the "season" altered.
Also... it seems that there's a possibility that the word "digivolution" won't be used anymore. Depending on who you ask, this is either a good thing or a bad thing. Personally, I don't mind... and kinda like that they're not using it, since they were starting to use it less and less in season 4 (until eventually not using it at all towards the end).
That's all I really know for now... I gotta say, I didn't think Digimon Savers would ever end up getting dubbed as it seems considerably more mature than previous Digimon "seasons", but since Disney is a bit more lenient than the now defunct Saban, I guess they might not edit the heck out of it like seasons 1 and 2. As you may or may not know, Digimon has been owned by Disney since around the middle to late portion of season 3... and since then, the Digimon dub episodes have been... well, less "corny joke" abundant, I guess you could say? XD
Anywho, ya... that's my rant on that. I can't wait for Digimon Data Squad! It's been about 3 or 4 years since there's been any new Digimon on TV, ya know? I hope this will set off a revival in the fandom!
tailsonic15 - August 29, 2007 12:01 AM (GMT)
My favorite season was the 1st. To me, it was the funniest.
Clown Prince of Crime - August 29, 2007 05:35 AM (GMT)
Yes, I also liked Digimon Adventure (Season 1) quite a bit. It has a special place in my heart and I always feel nostalgic about it. I think, however, that the best written and most character driven of all of them was Digimon Tamers (Season 3).
And now I'll start spouting random info!
Digimon Adventure (aka Digimon: Digital Monsters Season 1)
The story starts off with 7 children going to summer camp, but then something strange happening... having them all end up in a different world. In this world, they meet creatures called Digimon. Together, they endlessly search for a way for the children to end up back home on Earth. Eventually, they do end up back on Earth (towards the middle of the series), where they have to find the 8th Digidestined child before Myotismon does.
I once made a video for Joha because she knew very little about Digimon, but she wanted to RP as Tai. This video takes a brief look at Tai, but is also a montage of all the Digimon reaching their Ultimate form.

Digimon Adventure Zero Two (aka Digimon: Digital Monsters Season 2)
This and Digimon Adventure are the only two series to share a continuity. Taking place four years later, the kids are now in Middle School (save for T.K. and Kari, who are still in Elementary School). The Middle School kids don't see as much action as T.K. and Kari, who are joined by a new group of kids to battle the evil Digimon Emperor.
Digimon Tamers (aka Digimon: Digital Monsters Season 3)
Taking place in a world much like our own, Digimon is a virtual pet, a card game, a TV series (in fact, Adventure and Adventure Zero Two are the TV series in this world), a video game, etc. But... as it turns out, Digimon are quite real. Several kids are known as Digimon Tamers. Takato ends up as one when he finds a mysterious blue card that brought the drawing of his fanmade Digimon to life! But what are Digimon, really? A secret organization that constantly tries to keep the existence of real Digimon a secret from the public, as well as exterminate "wild ones", might have the answer to that question.
Digimon Frontier (aka Digimon: Digital Monsters Season 4)
Several kids had received very cryptic text messages on their cell phones... following up on these messages, they end up in the Digital World, where they find out they are chosen to fight the forces of the evil Cherubimon. Although just children, they are able to fight by transforming themselves into Legendary Warriors... Digimon who had long ago saved the Digital World.
Digimon Savers (aka Digimon: Data Squad)
Marcus was what you might call an average teenager... well, for the most part. He does tend to get into a lot of fights and he isn't necessarily a great student. Think of him kinda like Yusuke Urameshi or Ichigo Kurosaki. One day, he finds a Digimon... and challenges him to a street fight! Once DATS catches wind of this... and finds out that Marcus can make the Digimon digivolve, they recruit Marcus! Though he may only be in Middle School, he proves to be a great asset to DATS... when he isn't being a totally wreckless hothead...

Digimon! :D
I absolutely love Digimon. Season 1&2 were my favorite shows when I was younger. My first time writing a fanfic was a (really bad) Digimon story.
There's so many memories I have connected to Digimon... Mmm, I love this show. :)
Clown Prince of Crime - August 30, 2007 11:48 PM (GMT)
Yes! Digimon is indeed quite the awesomeness!
And now, just for the heck of it... here's what the original opening theme songs would sound like if they had been translated and adapted rather than... well, replaced entirely.

Digimon Savers
GoldenSama - August 31, 2007 03:32 AM (GMT)
XD Spoony, I do love that signature!
Clown Prince of Crime - August 31, 2007 06:56 AM (GMT)
Thanks! Ya, Koushiro (Izzy) and Mimi (Mimi... XD) are my favorite couple! That's also why I like episode 10 of Digimon Adventure so much! Hmmm... speaking of which...
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JALBGFPHJust for the heck of it! XD But, ya.
Btw, in other Digimon news, there's a game coming out pretty soon that is based on the upcoming new TV series, but has its own original story revolving around the... guess who? I mentioned them a loooong time ago! Yep, the Seven Great Demon Lords... or if you prefer, the Seven Evil Mega Digimon who each represent one of the 7 Deadly Sins!

My favorite one is Digimon Season 3 because I think it had the best story line in any Season but Season 1 was quite good I would say like how everyone meet digimon for the first time lol lol lol.
Baine - January 1, 2008 12:09 AM (GMT)
I can't ignore a digimon topic. Major <3 for digimon here.
My favorite season would have to be Savers. I'm not sure if it's because it was actually the best, or because it's the only one I bothered to watch the Japanese version of (I'm way to impatient to wait for the dub)... Seeing as dubbers tend to ruin great animes, it may be the latter.
But anyway, Savers > Adventure > Tamers > 02 > Frontier.
Ugh, how I hated Frontier.
Anyway, if the dub of Savers is out I'll have to look it up, see how it compares to the original. Anyone know the time Jetix is airing it?
Clown Prince of Crime - January 1, 2008 01:33 AM (GMT)
It's on Mondays and Fridays at 8:30 PM EST. That's Modays AND Fridays, NOT Monday THROUGH Friday. So it's only on twice a week.
As for Frontier, I actually do kinda like Frontier. I'll admit, it breaks convention quite a bit, but I still found it quite enjoyable. As for my most favorite? Well, it's hard to say. I guess it's kind of a tie between Savers and Tamers. Adventure will always have a special place in my heart, of course. While Savers and Tamers trump it storyline-wise, I'd have to say that Adventure does give me the most amount of nostalgia. Adventure Zero Two is in last place, but only because the others come on top of it. There's no Digimon show that I didn't like. ;)
And, as dark and depressing as it was, I think X-Evolution was great. For a while, before Savers came out in Japan, I was starting to think that the rumored return of Digimon would involve X-Evolution. But that probably would have been a little too mature, I dunno.
Baine - January 1, 2008 02:58 AM (GMT)
I've actually never seen X-Evolution... I keep meaning too, but then I get distracted by something else like Fate/Stay Night or the Digimon Savers Movie (which was really disappointing, I'm sad to admit. My favorite season let me down with a cruddy movie).
The bit I saw on Youtube looked pretty good though, I should really look into finding the entire thing.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Digimon-DVD-Box-Set-Th...1|294%3A50If you plan to buy it you better hurry only 4 days left after today.... don't miss out on these collection DVD Box Sets.....
Clown Prince of Crime - December 27, 2008 08:56 PM (GMT)
As convincing as those DVD sets look, I'm afraid that they are, indeed, bootlegs. Using the Japanese DVD set artwork was a nice touch... it's a very nice looking set. But, yes, it's very much bootleg, I'm afraid.
GoldenSama - December 28, 2008 02:53 AM (GMT)
They have those on Amazon.com.
Sadly, they are bootlegs, and from the reviews I've read, poor quality ones at that. From what I've read on amazon, they freeze a lot and the audio isn't in sync with the visual. >_<
DBOZGT - December 28, 2008 02:54 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the input buy the way is there a way you can show me the Real DVD sets so I will know in the feature...... I like to compare between the 2 Versions....
Clown Prince of Crime - December 28, 2008 11:41 AM (GMT)
As far as an American R1 release goes, there aren't any real sets. Only the first 13 episodes of the Digimon Adventure were ever released on DVD in America (and that particular set has become very rare).
So, if you're looking for the dub on DVD, you're pretty much out of luck.
