Title: Rebirth of Shadows
Description: A Pokémon RP. FINALLY.

AGodofIrony - September 7, 2007 12:04 AM (GMT)
Far from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and the Orange Islands was another region, where, for the longest time, there was no wild Pokémon.

This region was called Orre, and an organization called Snagem emerged, using a Snag Machine to capture other people’s Pokémon, until their top Snagger betrayed them, taking the only portable Snagger and the other, larger one, was destroyed.

Desperate for revenge, Snagem joined with another organization called Cipher, which, in trying to create the most powerful Pokémon of all time, forcibly closing the door of their hearts to create evil Shadow Pokémon, but, coupled with a girl who could see the dark aura of Shadow Pokémon, the Snagem rogue snagged those Pokémon from their trainers and purified them, and Cipher, it seems, was defeated.

Five years later, and Cipher reemerged with new Shadow Pokémon, including an experiment XD001, a Shadow Pokémon that, supposedly, could not be purified.

However, a group of scientists had been working to counter just such a threat, and with a new Snag Machine, a young boy and his Eevee were able to counter the threat, snagging the newly created Shadow Pokémon and purifying them.

Now, it seems, someone, or something, else is tapping into the power of Shadow Pokémon, and releasing them into the wild, where the Pokémon viciously attack even humans and other Pokémon, creating a crisis that is engulfing the world.

It is time now for trainers to stand up and combat this new threat. The Pokémon must be caught and Purified before they can continue their destruction…

-Viridian City-

One of the largest cities that attracted Pokémon Trainers, Viridian was abuzz with life, and had yet to encounter any attacks from the Shadow Pokémon.

The Viridian City Gym, once looked after by the leader of Team Rocket, Giovanni, was closed until a suitable replacement could be found.

A brown haired trainer was standing outside the Gym, sighing and shaking his head.

“Of course…” Edda muttered, “I actually manage to get the first seven badges, and all I need is one more so I can officially head back home and beat up Dad…Well, I could anyways…He was never a good trainer…”

He looked downwards the six Pokéballs on his belt. Those were the only six Pokémon he had…

“GAH!” Edda shouted, turning down the street, then pausing.

The ground shook suddenly, and a building rocked dangerously.

“RHYDON!!!”

A Rhydon was stomping down the street of Viridian City, attacking and destroying random things, people running down in terror.

Edda knew what a responsible Pokémon Trainer should do. He should engage in a battle with this vicious Rhydon who seemed perfectly content to attacking humans.

“…”

Edda turned and ran with the rest of the ground.

Cerulean City Gym (Water Stage)

"And we now like totally present the like The Magical Mermaid!"

It was not unsual for hundreds of people to gather in the Cerulean City Gym in effort to catch one of the famous underwater ballets that were put on, but today was insane. The crowd of people heading there for the rivival of 'The Magical Mermaid'--which had not been put on for since Misty wore the aqua colored fins-- was staggering and simply making the youngest heir of the gym's head spin. She was sort of glad she was not performing in this one, instead her oldest sister Lilly had decided she would be a more than fitting princess of the seas. The youngest girl, Misty was instead cleaning up around the training pools and feeding the Pokemon who would not be in this show.

Ever since her sisters had returned from their trip around the world they had been reintroducing the city to their brand of underwater shows, minus their runt of the family. Like the old saying went between the three oldest girls.

"There are three sensational sisters, and one runt!"

As insulting as that may have been at one point it did not phase her as badly any longer. Instead it gave her the chance to take control of the gym portion of their home. She was the Cerulean city gym leader.

Viridian City

As the Rhydon's rampage got underway, most people ran and screamed. However, as they panicked and tried to get out of the way, there was one person who stood strong in the center of town.

A young girl of about seventeen. She was wearing a Medium's outfit and seemed out of place in Viridian. She reached into one of the deep pockets of her purple pants and pulled out two small red and white pokeballs. Those were the only pokemon she had.

"I don't think I can do much with you too..." She whispered. She decided she needed some help! Turning around, she looked for a Trainer. When she finally spotted one in the crowd, she grabbed him by the scruff of the neck -- of course, it was Edda!

"Hey you!" She shouted. "Help me beat this Rhydon, okay? You look strong."

Maya Fey smiled at him for a moment, and then she pushed him in front of her. "Okay, go ahead."

Cerulean City Gym [Audience]

A man in a cape was sitting in the audience, watching the show. His vivid red hair stood up like flames -- a stark contrast to the aquatic gym. He was sipping a soda out of a can which, for some reason, just said 'soda' instead of a brand name. The man seemed preoccupied with thoughts as he watched the underwater show, though.

'... If everything is the way he says it is, then things should get very interesting in Cerulean City soon enough.'

Mt. Moon -- Halfway between Cerulean and Viridian

A small pink pokemon was standing with one finger pointed up and a smile on it's face.

Clefairy, a wild pokemon who called Mt. Moon home, was being challenged by a trainer. A trainer who had once been to Mt. Moon before and had a crazy time there.

"Pikachu, I choose you!"

A trainer with black hair hidden beneath a cap was the one battling Clefairy. He had recently gone home to Pallet for a visit, and now he was making his was back to Vermillion to catch a boat overseas to continue his journey. Though, he had a few stops along the way.

-Viridian City-

“WAH!” Edda shouted, grabbed and then shoved forward, staring at the Shadow Rhydon.

Now, Edda might be a coward, but he was still a nice guy, and when a girl asked him to help…well, he’d have to then, wouldn’t he?

“Okay then…Rhydon’s are Ground Type…so…Go Zaurak!” Edda shouted, flinging forward a Pokéball, his Vaporeon emerging from it.

Edda frowned as the Rhydon stomped forward, ready to fight. This would not end well.

"Fufufu... a Clefairy! I can't believe I don't have one of those yet! Jigglypuff, I choose you!"

These were the commands spoken by a young, raven-haired girl. As she threw a Pokéball, a pink creature emerged... it was the Pokémon known as Jigglypuff!

Just as she was about relay an order to attack, she noticed a very familiar figure on the other side of Clefairy. In fact, so familiar, it was like looking in a mirror!

"Woah! Where'd you come from?!"

Cerulean City Gym (Water Stage)

Much like every other water show at the Cerulean Gym "The Magical Mermaid" went off without a hitch. By the end of the show the hundreds of guests who had been watching were cheering loudly and clapping to match. From back stage the three elder sisters chattered excitedly about the sucess and Misty took a break and changed into her swim suit. By the time all of the guests had left there would probably be a trainer in need of the city's badge so she had to be ready for a battle. She walked through the crowd, often being overlooked--since she was no where near as well known as Lilly, Daisy, or Violet-- and pushed around trying to get to the main pool when others were going the opposite direction.

AGodofIrony - September 7, 2007 10:28 PM (GMT)
-Cerulean Gym-

Indeed, by the main pool was gray haired Pokémon trainer, accompanied by a red headed girl as well.

He didn’t say anything as Misty approached, but it looked obvious that he wanted a battle…

Mt. Moon -- Halfway between Cerulean and Viridian

Ash Ketchum, a Pokemon Trainer who had explored many regions of the world in search of Pokemon and taken the Gym Challenge as he went gasped. He had come face to face with the last person he expected to find here so close to home.

"Ashley?" Ash gasped, recognizing his sister. He groaned a bit. It had been so long since he'd traveled by himself that he had, for days, been hoping to run into a familiar face. He hadn't seen Brock when he stopped in Pewter, much to his dismay. Though for all the hoping, he hadn't expected his wish to come true in THIS way.

"H-Hey! I was here first!" Ash stammered, still shaken up at the chance encounter.

"Pika-Pi!" Pikachu agreed.

Cerulean Gym

The redhead looked up at the gray haired man and the redheaded girl with him. It looked like a battle might ensue between this man and the Gym Leader -- he had also spotted Misty.

He did enjoy watching battles... but one had to enjoy battles in order to gain the achievements that he had.

Viridian City

"A Vaporeon? Cool!" Maya exclaimed, still standing behind Edda. "You should be able to win easy!" She assured him, although she wasn't sure herself.

AGodofIrony - September 7, 2007 10:48 PM (GMT)
-Viridian City-

“Uhhh…right…” Edda muttered, sweat dropping.

“RHYDON!” the Shadow Rhydon shouted, and fired a powerful blast of dark energy.

“Zaurak, look out!” Edda yelled, and the Vaporeon moved, the shadowy attack pummeling into the ground, the Water Type barely dodging it.

“Let’s take ‘im out with one hit! Hydro Pump!” Edda yelled, Zaurak firing the powerful attack towards the Shadow Pokémon.

The Rhydon roared, the Water attack super effective to it, falling down on one knee.

“Hey, weren’t you suppose to help?” Edda wondered, looking towards Maya, “Or are you hiding behind this coward?”

Ashley narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms, "Oh, come on, Ash. If you were here first, I would have noticed you sooner. Besides, what do you want with a cutesy, girly Pokémon like Clefairy, anyway?"

Maya was clearly angry at Edda's assumptions. Aside from glaring at him, she quickly defended herself.

"Hey! I was going to help -- but since you had a Water Pokemon it would be easier for you!" Maya replied, crossing her arms.

Mt. Moon -- Halfway between Cerulean and Viridian

Ash was livid. His sister, it appeared, hadn't changed at all -- not that he expected her too.

"I'm here to train, Ashley! That's hard to do if you catch the Pokemon I'm battling!"

AGodofIrony - September 7, 2007 11:19 PM (GMT)
-Viridian City-

“Fine, fine…” Edda muttered, “I guess there’s one good thing Dad sent me to all those Pokémon schools…Zaurak, finish it, SURF!”

Vaporeon summoned up a whole lot of water, riding on top of it like a giant wave, slamming into the already weakened Shadow Rhydon.

The Pokémon fell over, fainted.

Edda paused…Wait, a wild Pokémon, fainted before him, ripe for the capture?

“Ahah!” Edda shouted, then reached for his back pack, pulling out a Pokéball, “My seventh Pokémon! Pokéball, GO!”

He flung the Pokéball, as it hit the Rhydon, capturing it and landing on the ground, twitching slightly, the red light blinking off and on with it.

“Come on…come on…” the coward muttered, and the beeping stopped, then with a flash, the Pokéball was teleported.

“WOOO!” Edda shouted, pumping his fist into the air, “I did it! Caught a seventh Pokémon!”

A 13 year-old boy quickly emerged from Professor Rowan's lab, holding a pokeball and pokedex. The boy quickly wanted to see what his new pokemon can do, and set out to the pokemart.

Mt. Moon -- Halfway between Cerulean and Viridian

It was surprising that between all the arguing, the Clefairy would still stick around. On the other hand, maybe it found it all very amusing.

"Train?" asked Ashley, suddenly coming to a conclusion.

"Alright, brother dear. You can train. There's no need for me to be greedy and hog all the fun, right Jigglypuff?"

Jigglypuff gave a confused response, "Jig?"

Ashley continued, "You can train all you want, Ash. Battle the Clefairy and whittle down its HP. Then when you've had your fill, I'll throw a Pokéball and catch it! That way, you get to train and I get a Pokémon!" ;)

A man wearing military fatigues was coming out of the Poke Mart at around the same time the boy was going in. The blond-haired man walked right past the boy, tossing a Pokeball in his hand as he walked and laughing to himself about something.

Mt. Moon -- Halfway between Cerulean and Viridian

Ash probably should have just taken her up on her offer. He should have known by now that he could never win an argument with his sister... but...

"Hey!" Ash growled, realizing her idea. "You just want me to do all the work for you!"

"Pi Pi, Pikachu!" The small yellow mouse added.

Viridian City

"Hey, way to go!" Maya said, running up to Edda and smiling. "You're okay! Hmm..." She had an expression as if she'd just gotten an idea. "Tell you what, since you defeat that Rhydon and everything, I'll let you show me around town!"

Maya was completely lost... and this was her way of asking for help.

AGodofIrony - September 8, 2007 12:34 AM (GMT)
-Viridian City-

Edda sighed, looking towards Maya, “Well…Okay then. I’d rather not have to hand over my seventh Pokémon to authorities, and I did grow up in Viridian. Follow me! Name’s Edda by the way!

Edda took off running down the street, away from the wreckage, where the police would be sure to be getting to shortly. Edda could run pretty fast, but he didn’t go full speed.

GoldenSama - September 8, 2007 12:39 AM (GMT)

Maya wasn't exactly fast... it was probably because she wore the spirit medium's costume that hung around her feet and threatened to trip her with easy. Still, she managed to keep up with Edda.

She didn't want to be arrested. She hadn't done anything wrong, but... well, she'd gotten in trouble over misunderstandings before.

As the large groups of people finally cleared out of the Gym Misty let out a sigh of relief. She was now able to move freely and quickly made her way to the gym's locker room in order to change. A few minutes later she came back out, her previous clothes a jumbled bunch in her small hands replaced by a blue swimsuit . The only piece of clothing that remained from before was a belt resting loosely around her waist containing her pokeballs. She set her clothes down on a nearby bleecher upon the realization that there was a pair waiting for her.

"So are you guys here for a match?" She asked the boy and girl, she hadn't yet noticed that there was another still lingering from the show.

The boy hadn't noticed when the man had placed the object in his hand. He was to excited. The boy told the cashier:

"10 pokeballs and potions please!"

"Of course Jake!" The cashier answered. Jake had been there many times, always saying stuff about getting his first pokemon. The cashier recognizied him now, and also gave him some food to take back to his house from time to time.

The cashier realized something. "Wait...why are you asking for pokeballs and potions?"

"I finally have a pokemon!" Jake answered, still excited.

"O RLY? Can I see?" the cashier asked, curious to see the pokemon.

"Of course! But I cant release it in a pokemart! Come outside!" TS told her.

"Ok, hold on." The cashier waited 'till all the customers left. "Ok, lets go." She noticed the trange object in Jake's hand. "What's that?"

As soon as Edda deemed them far enough away from the scene, he slowed to a walk, waiting for Maya to catch up.

“So, what brings you to Viridian City?” Edda wondered, “And if you didn’t hear me earlier as you were running, name’s Edda.”

“Oh, I’m not!” the girl smiled, “Seth here is though.”

The gray haired trainer nodded, pulling up a Pokéball, and a strange machine was seen on his left arm and hand…

"Allright then" Misty replied jumping into the pool and swimming over to a small platform in the middle of the water. There was another identical small island on the other side of the pool, a long enough distance to have a battle in between. Misty looked over to the boy, Seth, and motioned for him to jump. "Well, jump in, can't be afraid of water at a water Pokemon gym can you?" She pulled one of her pokeballs of her belt and grasped it tightly. "This will be a three on three, no substitutions by me but you're free to do so. No time limit and the winner will be decided after all three pokemon are unable to battle. “I…” the young man began, looking towards the water. He was from a very dry region. He had never needed to swim, and thus, he couldn’t.

Quagsire…” Seth sighed, letting out the Pokémon. The Quagsire floated on the water, and supported his trainer towards the small island, where he stepped lightly unto it.

“I can’t swim…” he explained, “And I’ll start off with Quagsire as well.”

The redhead in the cape seemed interested in watching the Pokemon Battle. He rose from his seat and walked down to the edge of the water. There, he stood and watched the gray-haired trainer as he floated upon his Quagsire. He also cast a glance at Misty.

Viridian City

Maya finally caught up with him and panted for a moment with her hands on her knees. At length she straighted up and smiled at him.

"Hiya! I'm Maya, nice to meet you. Actually, I came here for a job, but my client never showed up." Maya sighed. "Anyway... how about we get some hamburgers?"

It was a bit random, but Maya was known to have a bottomless stomach.

Mt. Moon -- Halfway between Cerulean and Viridian

Ash sighed, deciding not to argue with his sister. He returned to battle the Clefairy, but, as you may have expected, it had run away. Ash sweat dropped and leaned against the wall.

"Oh... well."

Edda sighed, shaking his head. Then, suddenly, his stomach growled, “Uhhh…Okay…hamburgers sound good then.”

Glancing about, Edda found a burger place and headed for it, talking to Maya as they went.

“A job? What kind of job?” Edda wondered, curious.

Ashley sneered at Ash... she had lost her opportunity to catch a rare Pokémon and sell it for big bucks.

"Great, it got away! This wouldn't have happened if you weren't such an indecisive wimp!"

Suddenly, a very familiar nasal voice was heard scoffing, "I couldn't have put it better myself!"

Ashley turned to see the person that the voice belonged to... she was surprised... and blushed, too.

Cerulean City Pokémon Center

"Well, thank you very much, Nurse Joy!" said a young, spikey-haired boy, as he added, "You are truly a fantastic person! My heart flutters with the admiration for someone who can so fantastically heal my Pokémon!"

Nurse Joy sweatdropped and responded, "Well, it's not really me so much as..."

"NONSENSE!" exclaimed the boy. "You have a true healing touch! Nurse Joy, my heart aches for you! Just as you have healed my Pokémon... maybe you can also heal the pain in my heart!"

"Well, ummm..."

-Mount Moon -- Halfway between Cerulean and Viridian-

All of a sudden, the earth beneath Ash, Ashley, and whoever this mysterious person was (<.<) began to shake violently, and a giant boulder burst from the ground, spinning rapidly.

Suddenly the boulder grew arms and legs! It was a Golem!

“GOLEM!” the Pokémon yelled, glaring towards Ashley, then firing an attack at her, that looked like a blast of dark energy…

-Cereulean City-

“Raichu!”

Not to far from the Pokémon center, a Raichu was causing havoc, firing black blasts of energy everywhere, even at people!

Before Nurse Joy could say anything else, a lot of commotion was heard outside. The boy, known as Brock, suddenly became serious and turned around to ask, "What in the world is going on out there?!"

He quickly rushed outside to see... a Shadow Raichu!

Mount Moon -- Halfway between Cerulean and Viridian

Ashley was too busy gawking at the newcomer to react to the Shadow Golem. It aimed an attack straight at her! Just at that moment is when she noticed.

"KYAAAAAHHH!!!"

But it was too late for her to do anything.

The mysterious trainer, Gary, shouted, "Look out, you idiot!" and pushed her out of the way! However... he was now in the direct path of that attack without enough time to avoid it!

Mt. Moon -- Halfway between Cerulean and Viridian

Ash felt like someone had just kicked him in the head while simultaneously punching him in the stomach. Running into his sister in a dark, dank cavern and losing his chance to fight the Clefairy wasn't his idea of a fun day. However, it had just gotten much, much worse.

The young Mr. Ketchum was about to ask why his greatest rival was here, or perhaps yelled, or maybe break down sobbing... but then a mysterious Shadow Golem broke through the floor and attacked! Ash was ready, he'd save his sister and maybe earn some respect--

As usual, Gary one-uped him. Ash sighed -- but he also noticed Gary was in danger. Gary might have been his rival, and the guy who constantly picked on him and made him feel inferior -- but Ash couldn't just let him be hurt.

He tossed a Pokeball at the energy -- it was an empty one! Still, the pokeball was hit, absorbing the energy attack and exploding -- but keeping Gary from being killed.

Viridian City

Maya blinked and then rubbed the back of her neck. Some people didn't really get her job, but she might as well try to explain.

"Oh! I'm a Spirit Medium. That is, I can channel the spirits of dead people." Maya said in a chipper voice, almost as if she'd said something normal and not grim.

Of course the man by the pool was Lance. A Dragonmaster, Lance was considered one of the top trainers on the planet. He wasn't surprised that Misty recognized him. Nodding curtly, he smiled to her.

"I have an errand to run in town. I thought I'd stop by and watch the match."

"Here in Cerulean?"

Now there was something a bit off about Lance's reasons for being here, Misty just had a way of knowng. She doubted Lance would be the type of guy to just pop in for no real reason except catching a good battle. Of course his whole life revoloved around Pokemon so that may have been a valid enough reason for him to come.

"Allright then" Misty replied now turning her attention back on her opponent but still thinking about why Lance had made an appearance. "I guess it's time to get things started! You've got the first move!"

"And that was an amazing combonation from Rem's Haunter sure to frighten anyone's pokemon including May's. How will Blaziken recover such a shock!"

The loud voice of MC Lilian blarred over the speakers above May's head. She winced, never liking the noise and the pressure it caused to her nerves making it harder to concentrate on what was happening in front of her. Currently the battle was not going in her favor, she was down by several HP with only a minute to go on the timer. The conest judges were watching closely between her and her pokemon to see what was going to happen.

"Blaziken use flame kick and firespin! Quick!" May exclaimed. The large bird rushed forward at the ghost and kicked but soon found itself stuck in Haunter's grasp.

"Now confuse!"
Rem yelled and that's what Haunter did, sending Blaziken down with a thump, confused and tired. It only took a second for it to pass out.

"Blaziken is unable to battle the winner is Haunter, the match going to Rem!" Lillian declaired happily "A tough match for both trainers indeed but even as a seasoned May was not able to pull it out!"

The crowd cheered and May stared at the HP counter above her, her eyes wide. The counter was at zero and that meant it was all over. She had lost the match. "Good job Blaziken" she said, holding her pokeball up and recalling the creature who was still passed out. "You did well."

After both trainers shook hands Rem was escorted to the winner's circle and presented with a new ribbon. Later May met back up with her younger brother who had been sitting in the stands.

"You did good" Max replied looking up at his sister as the two walked through the city after getting the coordinator's pokemon healed. "You've just gotta watch snags like that. If a pokeon holds out a limb it's obviously gonna be grabbed. If Blaziken can get his speed up it'll make it a lot harder for him to be grabbed."

"I'll be sure to remember that" May replied, her tone bitter. Max seemed to take notice, looking away quickly.

"Why do you even care anyways? You've allready done this Contest and won. Remember the Kanto Championship? You were in the top fou-"

"I know, top four blah blah blah, I was still beaten by Solidad....Badly beaten."

"And now you're trying to get better before starting the Shinou contests?" Max implied. May nodded.

"But it seems as if I'm just getting worse..My appeals are fine-"

"They were top in today's show" Max interjected optimistically

"-but my battle skills are slumping. My combos are totally weak"

Max frowned and thought for a few moments before turning back to his older sister. "How about you practice at a gym? That's always a good way to get better."

"But I don't want to be in the Kanto Leauge...."

"You don't have to, it's just for practice right? We'll go find a gym to battle at. You'll see May, it'll help"

Ashley swooned, "Oh, Gary..."

Gary continued, "This is no ordinary Golem, I can tell... Machoke, I choose you!"

A tall, muscular Pokémon appeared, ready to do battle with the Shadow Golem. However, Shadow Pokémon tend to be stronger than normal Pokémon... as well as motivated by pure evil intentions.

“I’ve seen odder,” Edda shrugged, “I’m just a normal trainer really. A coward too, so you know.”

Edda merely grinned then. He was quite candid in his cowardness.

-Saffron City-

“Damn it!” a young teenage girl shouted, walking down the streets, “I’ve lost him! Now how will I ever get his Vaporeon?”

Misty looked at the trainer and raised an eyebrow. He didn't seem very sure about the battle, as if something wasn't right. She suposed he was not from here, recently she had been getting handfuls of trainers from different regions. She suposed that the leagues had just ended for the season.

"Allright then, i'll go first! Corsola water gun!"

The small pokemon obeyed, shooting a fast stream of water at her opponent!

“Dodge and use Take Down!” Seth ordered, and his Quagsire ducked underwater before the Water Gun could connect, though just barely.

Suddenly, from beneath Corsola, Quagsire shot upwards with his Take Down attack!

"Corsola!" Misty yelled as her Pokemon was sent up into the air from the sheer force of the takedown attack. "Hydropump!" she comanded, and on comand the small pokemon sent a huge blast of water at Quagsire as she fell back into the pool. "Now use recover!" She added and the small pokemon began glowing pink before recovering a bit of her hit points.

Quagsire was hit, taking a good chunk of damage, being a dual Ground Type as well as water…

“Time to shake things up Quagsire! Get to the bottom and use Earthquake!” Seth ordered, and Quagsire dived to the bottom of the pool, twisting around and slamming it’s tail at the bottom, causing the entire pool to shake like jello!

“Now use Mud Shot!” Seth yelled, and from the still shaking pool, globs of mud erupted from the bottom, shooting upwards towards Corsola!

Misty gasped as the entire arena started to rumble sending even the platforms they were on back and forth. She almost fell in but managed to steady herself in time. Corsola was not as lucky, she was sent against one of the walls of the pool, knocked dizzy. Directly after a stream of mud was smashed into the creature, knocking it out completely.

"Corsola!" Misty exclaimed pulling out the fainted pokemon's ball. It was replaced my Misty's second pokemon, her first water pokemon. "Misty calls Staryu!"

"Quick Swift attack!" The pokemon obeyed and sent out glowing bursts of energy at quagsire.
