Resembrool

The small village of Resembrool is a happy place, far away from the vicious war in the East and the political mess that was Central City. It was in this small village, years ago, that two boys committed an unforgivable act that would change them forever -- and alter the course of history for Amestries.

A large yellow house stands in Resembrool, a white sign out front reads 'Rockbell Automail'. Just down the road a ways from the house is the only motel in Resembrool; a small and friendly place that was catering to some foreign faces.

A young married couple was staying at the hotel, having decided to take a vacation in the countryside away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

The husband, a man with dark hair and a smile that melted the hearts of (mostly) every woman he had ever met, was sitting at the table sipping on a cup of coffee. His wife, a blond who wore glasses, was seated across from him. She looked much more serious than he did.

"... What?" The husband noticed the way she was staring at him. "You should relax. We're on vacation, remember dear?"

"Next time I'm writing the cover story, sir." The wife, who was not only not his wife, she wasn't even married, replied.

"Oh come now Lieutenant, how often do we have a chance to take it easy, just the two of u--"

"In case you've forgotten, we're not here to relax." Riza Hawkeye replied sternly.

With a sigh, Roy Mustang put his head in his hand. "Fine. Have you heard from Havoc?"

"Yes." Hawkeye replied. "They made the announcement today: Fuhrer Bradley is dead."

Roy sat his coffee cup down and put his hands together in front of his face. He looked like he was in deep thought, and from the serious expression in his eyes he was, for once, thinking about work.

"... Did Havoc mention if--"

"If they claimed the Fuhrer 'died' or if he was 'killed'. He did. According to the official word from the higher ups, Bradley died of a heart attack." Hawkeye answered.

"And we both know that's a lie." Roy replied. "Homunculi don't have heart attacks -- or at least, they don't die from them."

Hawkeye did not respond. Instead, she waited for the Flame Alchemist to continue. After a long pause, he finally did.

"... If they're covering up his death and pretending it was natural causes... it might be safe for us to return."

Hawkeye shook her head. "Or they're setting a trap. You can't expect whoever is behind Bradley to not know you killed him."

Mustang nodded. "True..." There was another long pause. "... Did Havoc mention how the Elric Brothers are doing?"

"Concerned?" Riza raised an eyebrow.

"..."

The blond shook her head. "He did not."

Mustang turned his eyes out the window, looking towards the big yellow house just down the road. "... Well, I'm sure they'll show up eventually. Edward can't go two weeks without breaking his automail."

???

"... The Homunculi have all died... what a pity..."

An alchemist was standing next to a pillar of stone. His hair was brown and messy and he had dark rings under his eyes. He wore glasses and a large red cloak.

"... No matter. My plans can only benefit from Father's failure."

(How have I not noticed this yet?!)

-Resembool-

A cloaked figure walked down the road towards Resembool, draped in a tattered gray cloak, obscuring his features.

He was in disguise, for a good reason. He had been looking for someone, someone close to him, and the two had been separated. Perhaps he could find him at Winry's...

Alphonse Elric, cloaked in a gray...cloak...Would soon be upon the place where Roy and Riza were 'honeymooning.'...

(Since Cojo's gone I figured there needed to be a reason Ed wasn't with him...Not sure what, but...Yah...)

-Central-

"The Fuhrer died? Interesting..." a young red headed State Alchemist wondered to himself over his meal, in the mess hall, idly cooking his food some more with his electric alchemy.

He then sighed and leaned back in his chair, "And I have to catch a train out East, to a place called 'Resembool' and see what I can find there...Probably nothing out there anyways..."
