((My all-time favorite anime series! And for good reason! X3))

Slayers is a popular fantasy/comedy/adventure franchise created by Hajime Kanzaka. It follows the adventures of an young sorceress named Lina Inverse and her 3 lackies..*ahem*..teammates as they journey through their world. Using powerful magic and swordsmanship they tackle down dark lorks, cunning mazoku(monsters) seeking world domination, and the occsasional helpless bandit gang.

The main characters are...

user posted image Lina Inverse = A young, but sassy and extremely skilled sorceress. She is also known as the "Enemy of all who Live" and "Dragon Spooker Girl", much to her dislike. She has a burning greed for money, treasure and food, and haves no mercy on those who try and keep her away from it. Her temper can be a very dangerous thing to mess with, as she is famous for sending off fireballs whenever made angry. She steals from the rich and keep for herself.

user posted image Gourry Galbriev = A wandering swordsman who had taken up the job of being Lina's "bodyguard" when he found her being ambushed by a group of badits. He can be extremely dimwitted many times during the series(much to Lina's annoyance), but is incredibly skilled with a sword and very kind-hearted.

user posted image Zelgadis Greywords = A lonewolf shaman sorcerer that later joined Lina's party. He was turned into a chimera by his grandfather, and is now 1/3 rock golem, 1/3 brau demon, and human. Because of this, he reminds very serious and anti-social about his appearance. He travels with Lina, hoping to find a spell that will break his curse. Later in the series, he starts to open up more to Lina and company, especially Amelia(see below profile).

user posted image Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun = A young shrine-maiden with a burning passion for justice. She is the crowned princess of Saillune, the White Magic capital of the world. She is quite clumsy, but is very skilled when it comes to white magic. She is very dedicated and head-strong, stopping at nothing until she has met her goal.

Other important characters include: Xellos the trickster priest, Filia Ul Copt, Syphiel Nels Rada and many other wacky and enchanting characters.

Slayers had become a very successful media franchise. So far it has 15 light-novels, 4 spin-off novels, 3 television anime-series, 5 movies, 2 OVAs(including a 2-minute special 10th anniversary video that was made in 2006), and numerous mangas, radio dramas, video and trading card games.

A more personalized-view of Slayers:

Slayers would have almost everything you would want in a series. Slapstick comedy, adventure, magic and even alittle romance! The characters range from many different personalities, so you'll be bound to find someone to love throughout the series. The story is nicely-paced, going from fun-loving to dark epicness.

I seriously could not put into the words the greatness of this series! I definately recommend it to anyone who is looking for an anime that is sure to please!

The Slayers is one of the greatest series I've ever seen. ^_^ It's amazing how a series can feel so epic looking back on it and yet still be so... silly. XD

It was a nice blend of magical action and zany comedy. I can't believe I hadn't made a topic for this series yet... therefor...

I guess I'd have to say Amelia, since she seems so energetic and stuff.

Sorry if I don't have much to say... it's been ages since I've seen this show. ^_^; I should probably rewatch it to get acquainted with it again. I do remember thinking it was a great show, though. I also really like the music, especially when there's a battle. They had this very action-y and yet medieval type music playing that I always liked hearing. I think it's the first song you hear on the track called "Ikinashi Taitate!" from the first Slayers Etc Cetera CD.
