For me, it's all those Geico Caveman commercials. XD
amechaninwonderland - October 3, 2007 01:44 AM (GMT)
Hahahaha! I love those so much! Especially the one we're their at the party! ^^
I was so excited when I heard they we're making a series on ABC about them. I was able to watch it tonight. It was hilarious! XD
Clown Prince of Crime - October 3, 2007 01:51 AM (GMT)
It'll still be about another hour before it comes on for me. :)

 If I wanted to look at commercials, I would watch TV. I like NASCAR commercials, like the one about Mark Martin (he's my fave driver!) doing the flips to show off! :D
BlueRush - January 6, 2008 07:52 AM (GMT)
Has anyone seen that commercial where everyone is eating hot wings and this girl is all, "This has changed my entire perspective on life and who I am as a person!" And this guy is all "Will you go out with me?" and she's all "Yes!" Oh man, that was great. What a great, great, mescaline-induced commercial.
Ahem. That was complete sarcasm. Now for seriousness:
Has anyone seen that IKEA commercial? This commercial is seriously awesome, and it ran after new year's. This woman goes through the cashier at Ikea and then looks at her receipt. She freezes, glances back at the cashier, then bolts to her car, shouting "start the car! start the car!" to her husband. The screen flashes: "It's not a mistake. We're just having a sale."
XD We were cracking up about this...
tinmanti - March 31, 2008 11:02 PM (GMT)
WARNING: The following commercial contains Chuck Norris.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lu1wNxr9Sqg&feature=relatedGreatness...
Well, it's that add or...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NySN_plfiNIMr.T and Chuck Norris. If they were in the same room at the same time, there would beso much coolness in one room, the world would explode.
Sorry, had to say it.
Avenger29 - April 1, 2008 03:54 PM (GMT)
I just hope, for your sake, that Sama doesn't see that post.
Seriously. Limbs will roll.
Clown Prince of Crime - April 1, 2008 04:25 PM (GMT)
Heh, ya... there's a reason why the rules say we don't allow Chuck Norris to be mentioned on the site. The way that BR wrote the rules, it makes it seem like it's just a joke. But actually, GS had a really bad real-life experience with Chuck Norris that's made him really hate him and that's why we're not allowed to mention him. Since you probably didn't know this, I'll let it slide. But just keep that in mind.
I'm gonna go over to the rules and reword it so that people know that it's not a joke rule.
tinmanti - April 1, 2008 04:29 PM (GMT)
Hmm... I did actually think that was a lil' joke in the rules, but I'll keep that in mind.
Sorry GS. :hs:
Clown Prince of Crime - April 1, 2008 04:31 PM (GMT)
I figured as much, which is why I went back to the rules and added in a little something so that people will know it's not a joke. Anywho, don't worry about it, Tinmanti. You didn't know. :)
tinmanti - April 1, 2008 04:41 PM (GMT)
*reads the new rules*
I never knew people hated him so much o.o
Can I ask what he done to upset you lot so much?
EDIT: Infact, no, I shouldn't really go there. Sorry.
BlueRush - April 1, 2008 06:30 PM (GMT)
Hm, didn't realize I was too jokey about it in the rules. ^^; Actually, looking at it in the condensed rules, did I write anything next to Chuck Norris' name? I didn't think I said anything to make light of it.
Considering how this is about the only place on the internet where he isn't considered (a) jokingly a superhuman (2) seriously a superhuman or (d) a has-been joke, I think we can forgive you on this. ^^; But yeah, turns out he's a bit of a dick in real life, even if he does support Mike Huckabee, who seemed like a pretty cool guy.
GS' backstory on CN is not available by search, so it's up to him to tell you if he wants to. Sorry dude, I won't presume to do so... CN seriously is a jerk though...

Nah, you didn't have anything next to his name. But at first glance, without prior knowledge of how people here feel about him, one might think it was just a joke. Especially since that guy is used in jokes on the internet so often.

Not everyone would necessarily agree that Huckabee... oh, see what you did there? This is exactly why we're also not allowed to talk about politics. :heh:
Now if we can just steer this thread back on-topic...
Dark Phazon - April 1, 2008 07:58 PM (GMT)
Anyways... one of my favorite commercials sadly isn't on youtube anymore (at least that I can find), which was the Little Debbie's commercial with Ken Schrader acting as the cardboard-cutout display in a store, while the cardboard-cutout was driving the racecar. XD
"And the Little Debbie's car is heading the wrong way!"

"Aren't you Ken Schrader?"
(Muffled) "Maybe."
"Wait. Who's driving the car?"
Genius.
Since we're on to NASCAR stuff, obviously I have to go with Toyota's Fancontroller commercial, which you can see in my avatar, with some strategic edits of course.

For the Schrader commercial, the radio-coverage part at the very beginning of the commercial shows the true brilliance of those who created that commercial:
"The #21 Little Debbie's car is all over the track today..." and then it cuts off when the guy shuts off the car and then goes into the store.
...
As for the Toyota commercial, the part with Denny Hamelin and Kyle Busch (around 0:30 of
this Youtube video of the commercial) is priceless.
"Aaaaaaaaahhh!"
"AAAaaaaaahhh!!"
...
Another favorite commercial of mine is
this GTA spoof commercial for Coca Cola. I don't particularly like GTA, but this commercial is still awesome.

That may be the best part of the entire commercial. Kyle's expression is just... Wow. Either that, or "RUN ZIPPY! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!".
Knucxsonia - April 3, 2008 12:57 AM (GMT)
Holy crap! I just adore funny NASCAR commercials! That one was just the cookie for me XD!
Dark Phazon - April 3, 2008 01:15 AM (GMT)
The first time I saw
this commercial, I did not know a thing about what was going to go on in it, nor what it was for. I just knew the song the instant it played, and did the air-drums at exactly the same time as the people in the commercial during that drum fill. XD
...
And a Geico classic.
Clown Prince of Crime - April 3, 2008 04:59 AM (GMT)
How is it that nobody's posted
this commercial yet?
Spade - April 6, 2008 04:44 PM (GMT)
...I remember seeing this Skittles commercial one time. Can't really remember the dialogue, but there were these three kids sitting on a rain bow, eating skittles. One of them said something, and a trap door opened underneath him, sending him plummeting to a crashy doom. I loved it.

XD Isn't that song about Phil Collins watching some guy watchingsome other guy drown? Doesn't that mean Phil Collins watched that guy drown, too?
And that Skittle cmmercial you speak of, Spade, was very hilarious, and the reason the kid fell off the rainbow was because he doubted that they were sitting on a giant rainbow. If you don't believe, you don't recieve, so there ya go.
Also: I pretty much love all of the South Park/Electric Company parody promotion commercials. XD Just taking random words the characters always say... at this point, they don't have to put too much throught into their commercials because they already have this huge following...

Actually, thats just a myth. No truth to it whatsoever.
I present to thee,
truthiness.

Okay,
this one's actually a promo and not a commercial, but most people don't know the difference, so what the hey!
I miss the GOOD Cartoon Network...
Kimiko - April 9, 2008 01:01 AM (GMT)
This is also technically promoting the same thing, but it's still something that came on between shows, so I think it still counts!I liked Jabber Jaw-- he was the underwater Scooby-Doo! Though I guess that why most people DIDN'T like him. XD He was also a great Rodney Dangerfield impersonater!
Clown Prince of Crime - April 9, 2008 01:11 AM (GMT)
Speaking of
Jabberjaw...
Man, how I do miss the times when Cartoon Network was an all-ages channel rather than the "kids only" channel it seems to be today (outside of Adult Swim).
They don't even show
Looney Tunes anymore, for cryin' out loud!
Well, at least YouTube still has some of these awesome promos from the old days up.

I have that song on my iPod. XD
I also loved Mike, Lu, and Og, and Sheep in the Big City. XD They were just really different cartoons.
Also
I'm not sure of the credibility of this commercial, but it is hilarious XD "Are you ready to bite your own ass off in frustration?!"

You have just made my day. Totally. I loved that "Groovie" way back when they actually aired them.
And XD to the Gurren Lagann promo. (there's another program I need to get around to checking out...)
Clown Prince of Crime - April 9, 2008 01:40 AM (GMT)
Gurren Lagann is awesome... in case you haven't noticed, there's some Rocket members in A&F that are obvious parodies/cameos/whatever of Kamina, Simon, and Yoko named Amina, Daimon, and Ryoko. :p
So, yes, DP. You should look into it.
And those Groovies are but one of the many things I miss about the old Cartoon Network.

I DID notice that, and I can't wait to see them in A&F! :D
My favorite Groovies were "Deedee and Dexter" and "Courage the Cowardly Dog" by They Might Be Giants. I still hum "Courage the Cowardly Dog" every other week.

You might have been missing some A&F, then, because they have appeared already in Issue 2 (which is just a few pages close to being done). Pretty soon, the gang will be facing them and then I'll probably end the issue at a cliffhanger or something.

I really liked the
"Deedee and Dexter" one, as well! But it's hard not to like anything that involves "They Might Be Giants"! ^_^
Also, I found a link to the
"Courage the Cowardly Dog" one. Hmmm... I'm sensing a pattern here, Kimi. XD
Well, another promo I really liked (this one isn't a Groovie, though) was
this old PPG promo that involves Mojo Jojo on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?". :)

:p
And I don't remember seeing them appear-- I must search for those pages! D:
I was never head-over-heels for the movie, but the
commercials for Lilo&Stitch were pretty funny, interupting other Disney scenes. XD
I also love the Pixar commercials, which never use footage from the movie's they're promoting. XD
