The question came to my mind when I was watching Mortal Kombat on Friday night(after over 4 years, I believe.)...

So..what's your favorite silver-screen video-game based movie? :D

Mortal Kombat has to be mine. It just has such an..epic-y feeling to it(well, maybe not really, but it was awesome to see Scorpion and Subzero appear. X3).

I haven't seen many video game-based movies (although I did see that CGI Final Fantasy that was released to theaters a few years ago). Although, if they get around to it, I'm hoping that the Halo movie will be good.

The movie you mentioned, Spirits Within, just wasn't very good in my book. I mean, yeah, it looked unbelievable, even making Shrek look like a PS1 title, but the story and acting were awful. How they allowed the Final Fantasy name to be attached to something so horrid, I'll never know...

Wait...



Never mind that last statement. Spirits Within was golden compared to the object pictured...

But I digress. Mortal Kombat was decent, but Annihilation was really disappointing, compared to the original. I'm still waiting for that third movie thats been in the works for the past 10 years...

Street Fighter was an ok transition. I didn't much care for how the characters were interpreted. (Seriously. Who came up with the bright idea to give Ryu a last name?!?) But the fights were good, the characters were well acted, especially Bison, (Or Vega, if you're a purist.) and they were able to mix in a bit of humor along with the action, a definite high-point any day.

I think the best movies with VG licenses right now, though, are the second and third Resident Evil movies, and FFVII: Advent Children. This is, at least, until Halo and Tekken come out.

She's more than just a background character, but I wouldn't say she's a major character. Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li play the biggest roles and, while Sakura isn't as important a character in the movie as them, she does have quite a lot of screentime.

Well, my fave video game turned movie has to be Mortal Kombat. I wish I could say the second was as good as the first... but then I'd be lying.

I know I'm a little late commenting on Spoony's choice of favorite movies, but I have to say this about the SFII movie.

The Chun-Li/Vega fight has to be one of the greatest action sequences I've ever seen in an anime, and not just because of the gratuitous fanservice either. That was a brilliant fight scene.

That was a rather intense fight, wasn't it?

It was something else, for sure.

Just the emotion in that fight. Chun-Li was scared to death, but she pulled through, and got the victory. That said it all for me.

That and you're just kinda hoping Guile would hurry up the entire time you're watching that scene! XD

I've watched the fight scene (JUST THE FIGHT SCENE, MIND YOU.) hundreds of times, and I still get that "whats gonna happen next?" feeling, Not many things can do that to me.
