Title: Solving Inconsistencies: Next Gen and Rush
Description: Trying to see if they can be connected
AGodofIrony - November 13, 2007 08:54 PM (GMT)
The following is merely speculation on my part, in an attempt to fit the events of the games Sonic 2006, and the two Rush games together so that they’re both, as the term goes ‘canon.’
Okay, let’s see if this works.
In Sonic 2006, we have Blaze, who’s probably not a princess there, and doesn’t seem to know Sonic, but he seems familiar to her somehow though.
Silver and Blaze are also from the future, but have no Sol Emeralds, whereas Blaze from the Rush games does.
Now, the question is, are both these games compatible?
There is the theory that the two games are just two separate timelines, but that would mean one is technically non canon, while the other is. Of course, the events in Sonic 2006 are erased from history.
Okay…Sonic 2006 history.
Solaris is not complete, but has terrorized the planet, leaving it in ruins and few survivors. Two of these are Silver and Blaze. There is no mention of Sol Emeralds, but the Chaos Emeralds are seen and used there.
The Sonic Rush games history.
Blaze, along with Eggman-nega, are apparently from another dimension entirely, and the two worlds are like a north and south pole, the Chaos and Sol Emeralds acting like opposite ends of a magnet. Silver is never heard of/seen.
Here’s my theory…
Since Solaris was destroyed and never existed in Sonic 2006, that rewrote history, and with the whole thing with controlling time, probably more then just those few days during the game, especially since he was destroyed quite a few years ago.
Now, with the destruction of such a powerful force has to have consequences, whether seen or not.
Solaris. The SOL Emeralds. A connection maybe? Perhaps when Solaris was destroyed, it set off a chain reaction. The Sol Emeralds are remarkably like the Chaos Emeralds. The only really noticeable difference is the shape.
Perhaps, because of Solaris being contained into a semi corporeal form, the Chaos Emeralds were the defacto energy holders for now. This might also play on the fact that Chaos, a watery being, was around.
Here we go! Chaos did not have his full power, most of the time. Even in the events of Sonic Adventure, he still wasn’t technically at full strength, since he was only using half of the Emeralds potential, the negative side.
Somewhere way back when perhaps, Chaos’ power was carved up, and made into the seven Chaos Emeralds.
Solaris, however, still had his full power, so the Sol Emeralds did not exist, but when Solaris was finally destroyed, it’s energies were released.
But, a change like the switching of Chaos Emeralds to Sol Emeralds should take a long time, correct?
So, perhaps, after many, many years, the Chaos Emeralds we know were either:
A: Destroyed, having lost their power, and the Sol Emeralds came into existence to fill the void.
B: Morphed into the Sol Emeralds, either slowly, or suddenly after the energies of Solaris overcame Chaos.
C: Simply forgotten, having, once again, lost their power and becoming ordinary gems, and being replaced.
Would this also mean that maybe, after some time, something happens and the Chaos and Sol emeralds switch off? Perhaps, some time in the distant past, the Sol Emeralds were around, then changed into the Chaos Emeralds? And had these switches happened numerous times in the past?
So, with the power of Solaris disbursed, it would bring around the era of the Sol Emeralds replacing the Chaos Emeralds some how.
Now, since the events of Sonic 2006 were erased from history, that meant the lives of Silver and Blaze were changed. This could mean that Blaze then did become a Princess and guardian of the Sol Emeralds, since the world wasn’t engulfed by flames.
Again, this is all just speculation at my part, and the fact I like to try and fit things together.
And the matter of Sonic Rivals…Well, I’ve never seen any cutscenes or played that game, so it might entirely screw this theory over…:heh:

In TSC, I just said that Blaze was from another dimension/universe, but that she had vistied ours and met Silver. :D

Uh... sorry AGoI... Sonic Rivals does screw over your theory... it happens basically when Next-Gen originally happened but now because Solaris was destroyed no one remembers Silver when he comes to the past searching for something. Basically
*spoilers*
the Eggman they think is turning everybody into cards is really Eggman Nega who is Eggman's descendant. So that must mean that Nega's from the future when in the Rush games he's from the past so that doesn't work because the Rivals games are consistent with the timeline because nothing was messed up.

This is why life was so much more simpler back in the days of the Mega drive / Genisis XD

Wait, where is it said in the Sonic Rush games that Eggman-nega is from the past? He claims then to be from a different world...
I've beaten both games, Sonic Rush twice, and I can go back and check the cut scenes in Sonic Rush Adventure, but I never saw it claimed Nega from was the past.

I meant alternate universe... you know how I get when it comes to typos...
but basically the two games are still incosistant

I think the most likely thing is that Siver, Blaze, and Eggman Nega have always been from the future, but since they didn't know that they time-traveled in Sonic Rush, they just assumed it was a different world.

This is what I thought too, and the fact since Eggman-Nega is a genius, he would figure that out.
Though...It makes me wonder...If Nega is Eggman's descendant, doesn't that mean Eggman has to have a kid?

Yes, but that doesn't have to happen right away. :p

But if it turns out that Blaze and Nega were just from the future then does that mean that the events of Rush Adventure really happened in the future?

Hmmm... that's a good point. I'm not entirely certain what happens in Rush Adventure, though, honestly, (outside of it involving pirates and Marine the Raccoon) which is why I didn't take that into account.
If you have some insight about what happens in that game, could you share?

*SPOILERS*
I don't know the whole thing but basically Sonic and Tails find out that somehow they were sent to Blaze's dimension (so the pirates and Marine are all from Blaze's dimension) so does that mean that if Blaze's world is in the future then did Sonic and Tails randomly get sent to the future?
And also, at the end of the game Tails builds a machine that travels through the dimensions and they get back home ... and Tails wouldn't miscalculate something to accidentally send them to the past instead of another dimension, would he?
And also, Tails easily manages to repair Marine's ship and turn it into other ships so that must mean the technology is basically the same. Wouldn't technology have advanced if this actually took place 200 some years in the future?

Hmmm... well, okay then. I guess the true answer is that Sega has no idea what they're doing.
Even back in the retro days, though, there were inconsistencies. Most games have had 7 Chaos Emeralds, but Sonic 1 had 6 Chaos Emeralds and Sonic the Fighters had 8. I think that the right hand just doesn't know what the left hand is doing, when it comes to Sega.
Let's also not forget the weirdness of Amy Rose suddenly being 12 in Sonic Adventure (where before she was 8). Then again, Sonic and Knuckles switched ages. Sonic used to be 16 and Knuckles 15, but now Sonic is 15 and Knuckles 16.
We'll go crazy before we figure all this out...

This is almost as annoying as the Sonic Battle plot hole...
Why can't Sega keep their stories together? It'd be less of a pain in the butt for us fans.
