Hey! This isn’t the actual sign-ups, but I am stealing this idea from DP thought this might be a good thing to make, so we wouldn’t have to discuss this in Chatty Chat.

Anyways, this basic idea is about using giant robots, or, I suppose, characters whose power is getting really big.

Of course, there are the pilots as well, who control the giant robots.

Now, any ideas? Any characters you might want to use, or suggestions for others?

I plan on using Megas XLR, with the pilot Coop, at the very least.

Some kind of sci-fi setting. Interstellar/interplanetary war, for example. Yes, there is a difference. Anyway, depending on the storyline, I'd probably join. I could even launch that sci-fi RP I mentioned, even though giant robots/battle suits wouldn't be the main focus. And an unoriginal suggestion would be the Gundam series(One-Year War, anyone?).

I have a couple o' suggestions!

We should focus part of the story on the pilots, and then have battles be in the giant robots. So we can get some character interaction going on. And on that note; how about we have human-sized robots who interact with them... and even robot pilots? That'd be a new twist; or at least one I haven't seen before.

As for characters... unless I feel really nostalgic, I'd make up OC's . . . or . . . Mwahahaha . . . she could work. OH! ROGER SMITH! I WANT ROGER SMITH! Srsly, if someone signs up as Roger Smith before me I'll hit them with a shoe. A BIG SHOE.

EDIT: I vote we don't base this on any one series, but allow ported characters from Giant Robo series... if it's just Gundam or something of the like, it might not appeal to people who haven't seen that. Like me... I don't watch Gundam, and I can't say I'd join a Gundam RP.

I didn't see much of Gundam myself, but I read enough of it on wiki to have a general idea of what a part of it was about.

Giants robots from everywhere. Megas, Gundam, Big O, Power Rangers, OCs, more.

And, well, my idea is actually somewhat like Oban. They're all brought to a planet, where the winner will be promised the Ultimate Mech Upgrade.

The planet would be large, obviously, and would probably include elements of the different places the pilots are from.

The planet would also be 'populated' by robots, human sized ones, that preform various tasks, like food service, or something like that.

Think that would work?

That might work...but that would be something like just a battle royal style RP rather than space opera style stuff...which is fine by me, but I'd probably just RP as support charas then, and save the space opera for an RP I'll launch sometime (maybe).

Anyway, this could be an interesting idea, though I probobly wouldn't go into it as I wouldn't want to play as any of the NGE Eva pilots, and the only other one I could play is a guaranteed "would not work in an RP" character.

Why would that character be guaranteed not to work?

It sounds like a good idea... but I was thinking more along the lines of a grand space battle. Perhaps a group of planets at war?

There's something about being to completely control other characters with their power, that doesn't translate well within RPs consisting of more than just yourself. :p (also, the restrictions of his ability also would make him not really all that fun to play as after a short amount of time :LOL: )

And also, I don't really know enough about that series to play characters from it, anyway :heh:

O.O Yeah, he'd be a little too powerful. Unless there was some restrictions. Like, he has a time limit as to how long he can control someone, and he can only do it to one person at a time. I mean, you *could* make him work, but you'd have to edit him seriously.

But if you don't know enough about him to use him it really doesn't matter anyway. Unless someone else wants him, in which case, the editing down.

So you guys are serious about this, eh? Heh, sounds interesting. Would we want the robots to be completely like vehicles or would they have A.I.? If it's the latter, I guess you could throw in some Transformers stuff to the mix, as well. ^_^

Heck, my entire repertoire is high-tech. I have done numerously more giant Robot RPs than I have fantasy, so that can pretty much explain why I'm such a tech psycho. So if anyone is ever starting a giant robots RP, any, any at all... You can expect me to be there with a mech that has been thought of VERY, VERY thoroughly. If GS and BR can remember it at all, I tried to start a mech-based RP a long time ago back when this board still had an IRC room. So if either of you can remember it...

I have an idea for this too... a series of planets, all nearby but also far. Each ruled by a different Governing Body. Some in alliance with each other fighting the others, and some remaining neutral.

Each planet can have a different kind of Giant Robot! Some could use Transformers-ish robots who are alive, others have them like vehicles, some like Gundam, ect...

Question is, which idea to use...

Ghetto bots, stuff like Megas XLR, random junkbots, actual vehicles, Gundams, MS units, Remote Bots, Arm Slaves, my own ideas...

Yes, I shall join. And I shall pull off stuff never seen or heard of before. Big-ass bots with diesel engines and a lever control system with a bunch of buttons. Super-hi-tech bots with enough weapons on them to take out planets while remaining only 2 or 3 stories high. The possibilities are ENDLESS. I shall have to ponder on this extensively before any RP can begin. I shall do so now.

Alright, Irony and I have already more or less decided on this, I think, but I've decided to put it forward for public discussion: Which theme would you prefer, a single-planet "battle royal" style RP where all the various mechs just duke it out, possibly for the entertainment of those who brought them there, or a more space-operaish story of interstellar war?

I could adjust to either one, but in all honesty a space-opera styled one would provide more options. It would also help explain the vast differences in the robots.

Dragonzord, Big O and Optimus Prime are all awesome possum, but they're also all very different. We have some giant robots like Gundams that need pilots and some like Megatron who have their own minds.

It could be explained by different countries having different technology, or by them all being brought to one planet by some all-mighty being (SW: Robot Edition?) but I think having a interstellar space opera would allow us to explain the differences by writing them all off as different plans.

Just my opinion.

Well, I know mine will already be on Earth (MGRAY is Marines technology) so... I dunno... Its whatever you guys wanna do, though. I just wanna cause mayhem with my favorite amphibious mech.

The Metal Gear Solid series is indeed cool. It's story is rather excellent (albeit confusing), and I really like it when a game has a good story. If we go with the space opera theme, though, Avenger, you may want to alter MG Ray to make it more advanced or something.

I would totally join, porting a certain super hero (It HAS been implied that, while Super Kimi can't use an oven without burning the tower down, she can reprogram death rays and laser-shooters without any problem XD The future episode...? Remember? Sama! You MUST remember, considering, well, you wrote it. Am I just going cra--... more crazy?).

ANYWAY, yeah, this would be so cool and I'd totally try my best to not totally mess up techno-lingo stuff. XD

Sounds good, but what would your pick be? Battle royal or space opera? Yes, I want to get the opinions of all interested, myself, before I make a decision, and I'm guessing Irony would, too. And GS, could I ask you to pick one or the other? Or would you prefer to remain neutral in that regard?

As for me, I could probably go either way, myself. I'm guessing that Irony and myself would be the ones jointly running this, and I'll probably not take a main chara, rather, "support charas" if you will. Like if we do a space opera, I'll be RPing as the command staff of various factions, or if a battle royal, well, some side charas (like shop owners in a fighter's dormitory) and/or someone else.

The confusing story is the greatest thing about it. It makes you think, and question things. Thats the highest honor I can give to a story. MGS2 was so brilliant.

And for those doucheclowns that like to insult Raiden, suck it.

Not just giant robots, but I don't see the harm in having normal sized robots as well, such as Bender.

Of course, I’d rather have this more based around the giant robots and their pilots.

And…I gotta go with the Space Opera style thing. Their will be a war going on, so we’ll have fighting of course.

Also…Supportives! I do plan on using Jamie and Kiva with Coop and Megas, so non pilots (or at least those without giant robots), can be used as well if they’re with the pilots (or if it’s important for the giant robot as well, I suppose.)

So, mainly giant robots, either those with an A.I. or with pilots, but other robots should be able to be used.

And if Avenger and Kimi will be here, I might have to make a Spork port or something too…Hmmm…

I'm rather excited about this, myself, (not that I'll abandon the other RPs I'm in, of course. TSC will be finished, and its sequels, too, in time. That's my intention, at least.) Anyway, Irony, should we do this the democratic way, in which we'll let people vote for which style they want, or the dictator way, in which we'll just make it a space opera? If the former of those two things, then please, people, vote in the poll so that your opinions will be easier to keep track of! In the latter of those two things, then, Irony, you and I should start hammering out the details of the plot to get this started ASAP.
