Title: Blood and Iron
Description: You Dig Giant Robots
AGodofIrony - January 1, 2008 08:00 AM (GMT)
Here it is, the first RP of the year! 2008.
Happy New Year everyone.
Blood and Iron
Sonic Rapid Board's very first Giant Robot RP.
__________
The jungle was ominously silent as a large black building loomed upon the small amount of land Fornax held.
The top of this large building opened ominously, energy crackling in the building, building, growing, doing something that pushed the laws of physics to the breaking point.
Inside, technicians were everywhere, scrambling as the machine took aim at their few targets.
Dark Matter…a substance found everywhere in the universe, but has next to no interaction on the average human’s life, despite how much of it fills the space around their atoms.
The machine, one could almost describe it as a laser cannon, adjusted slightly, taking aim at several satellites high in orbit.
Upon a large ship orbiting the planet along with the six moon colonies, a dark figure stared down towards the planet, flanked by his assistant.
“The Dark Matter Solidifier is working, correct?” the dark figure grumbled low, looking through the glass-like material that allowed him to see the planet.
“Correct sir,” a female voice behind him said, “Shall I send word to the Resistance Leaders now?”
“No…Not yet. Once it works. We don’t want to jump the gun,” the male figure said, waving his hand slightly, “Soon.”
Back on the planet, their was the whine of engines, as power gathered, and shot upwards, spiraling into the sky.
It split once it hit a satellite, sending them off to other satellites, which then aimed the beams precisely in the right direction.
After the beams had been fired, the satellites shook, then exploded in a small nuclear fury, their atoms ripped apart.
-Avalon, Capital City-
The city exploded in a fiery light, the Dark Matter Solidifier ripping apart the city and all of it’s inhabitants, and like the satellites, their atoms torn apart when the Dark Matter stopped it’s ineffective state of being, and existed on the physical plane normal people inhabit.
Elsewhere in this part of the galaxy, planets not part of the Resistance were attacked as well, their long range communication destroyed along with the cities they were in.
The first blow was fired.
-Rebel Ship: The Righteous Indignation. Orbit Over Fornax-
“Very good…” the dark figure from earlier, “That should buy the rebellion enough time to take over. Earth won’t send reinforcements until they’re sure that weapon is destroyed, and we’ve taken out any of the Loyalist Long Range communications.”
“Yes sir,” the woman paused, then seemed to listen into her ear, “Sir, I’ve just received a report. The Dark Matter Solidifier is still standing, but it’s non operational.”
“Well, tell them to get to work on repairing it. And make sure that information doesn’t fall into the wrong hands,” the man sighed, waving his hands idly, “Now make sure our mechs are ready. The High Rebel Command is going to want a full report.”
“Yes sir,” the female said, then walked away, into the hallway.
Chuckling the man picked up a phone by his desk, and spoke into it.
“Hello. This is Rebel Field Commander Richard Peterson. Make sure to keep a close eye on the political struggle on the Loyalist Planets. We’ll want to know who we’ll be dealing with…Oh…”
He paused, then smirked, “Get the fleet ready…”
Two months later…
In a shipyard orbiting Avalon, one could see a massive ship painted white. It was bulky, but sleek. Big, but at least giving the appearance of being graceful. On its side, written in huge, black letters, was…
NORMANDY
T.R.S. Normandy-Observation Deck
A shipyard in high orbit over Avalon-Observation Deck
That ship…this rank…these people...entrusted into my stewardship…this position, given to me at such a young age…what gifts! What responsibility! At my young age, too. I must be honorable. I WILL be honorable. I God’s name, I shall conduct myself honorably in the trying battles to come.
A man in a dress uniform stood, an earnest, but gentle look upon his face. Well, a young man, more like. Indeed, he was a teenager, but the rank insignia on his shoulders and on his hat revealed that he was privileged with a position given usually only to men or women decades older than he.
“Colonel Didymus.”
The young man, Didymus, turned toward the lieutenant who spoke to him, and returned her salute.
“The pilots are arriving, sir.” the lieutenant said.
“Very good.” Didymus replied. “Show them here.”
“Yes sir.”
Didymus stood, eagerly awaiting the pilots he was to lead (or, at least, try to).
Pollock VI
In a dimly-lit office on the 101st floor of a building in Corporate City, a well-dressed man was talking to a group of rather shady-looking individuals.
“Fornax’s dark matter weapon is still offline…of course I know that! Everyone does. It’s common knowledge now. They have NO idea how to wage an espionage war. And am I to understand that the loyalist have developed a cure to our newest viral weapon?”
“Yes, sir, Mr. Upfield.” One of the people in front of his lavish desk said. “And need I remind you, sir…”
“I don’t care what it does to our image! Is it financially beneficial?”
“Well, yes, I suppose using biological weapons does keep mercenary prices low due to-”
“Good. That being the case, I think I’ll use some of our surplus to…well, that will be all, gentlemen. Dismissed.”
The other men in the room left, mumbling and chattering amongst themselves, and when they had left that office, Upfield spoke.
“Secretary.” He said into a communicator. “Get me the residence of Mr. Roger Smith.”
-Rebellion Colonial Zone-
Several planets made this zone, most of them at war, though there was a neutral planet.
Fornax, with it’s six moons, the rebillion headquarters, and home of the Dark Matter Solidifier (currently broke).
Avalon, still reeling from the destruction of it’s capital city and long range communication devices, shut off from Earth, only able to contact those within the quadrant. However, it was still somewhat vibrant, and was the current seat for the Loyalist Government.
Pollock VI, a barren world, where companies swooped upon it’s vast treasure trove of natural resources, building life support colonies on it, saying that terramorphing the planet would cost to much. Here, business leaders bid for power of their own, neither joining the Loyalist or the Rebellion. They are much more ruthless then either side, however, and hire mercenaries.
Orion, a peaceful, almost utopian-like planet, and a gem found amongst the stars, with a climate and likeness perfect for Earth people. It has one large continent, and one large ocean, and is incredibly fertile. It is a neutral planet, and provides most of the food for the warring powers. It was not attacked by the Dark Matter Solidifier, as it did not have a communications array capable of contacting past the quadrant. A few wealthy people live there, mostly retired. No one has tried attacking it yet, as it would mean death for billions. Even the Corporations don’t try to invade, for fear of losing the needed foodstuffs for survival.
Orion has no moons, but it does have an extensive defense in orbit around it, in form of battleships and space stations for protection, bought from the surplus of capita it had gained in the past before the war.

"Hmm..." The shadowy figure mused, reading over some of the latest news. There was one particular article that caught his attention.
"Several Earth space colonies have lost their ability to communicate with the home planet, all at once." The headline read, causing the reader's eyes to glow faintly in the darkened room.
"This can't be good..." He said to himself as he spun around in the chair, pencil in his mouth. "Better talk to the crew about this..."
And with that, Avenger walked into the main hall...
AGodofIrony - January 1, 2008 08:55 AM (GMT)
-Spork HQ-
The lab was eerily quiet. Only a few sounds could be heard, deep in part of the Lab only The Spork was allowed entrance to. Even Avenger with his Instant Transmission couldn’t get in. Only someone with a ‘key’ could.
He could knock, of course.
-Earth: Jersey City-
“Woohoo!” Coop shouted, grinning brightly and pumping his fist in the air.
Jersey City, like usual, was ruined, and the scattered remains of Coop’s latest robotic enemy was liberally strewn about it.
“Great job Coop. You destroyed the city…Again,” Jamie sighed, sitting in the passenger side, twiddling his thumbs idly.
“That was unnecessary,” Kiva sighed from the back, typing at the hologram computer.
“Yah, yah,” Coop sighed, then peered down at the controls of Megas.
“Now, let’s go get us a slushie!” Coop grinned, pressing a few buttons.
“What are you doing Coop?” Jamie wondered.
“Programmed a slushie tracker into Megas. It’ll bring us to the closest slushie maker automatically!” Coop answered, flipping a shutter, then pressing the final switch.
Megas disappeared in a flash of light…
HellAvatar - January 1, 2008 09:19 AM (GMT)
Hidden Location, Nova Labs HQ
In the dark of the room, nothing could be seen but a bunch of flashing red lights. In utter and complete darkness except those said lights, coming from numerous sensors and computer screens, signified the progression of the experiment. Suddenly, rainbow energy flared into life in the center of the room, revealing a strange machine with a transparent shell around it, a spike in the center of the concealed chamber with four smaller spikes with rings around them pointed at the tip of the largest, central spike.
As rainbow energy flared, it also illuminated a single man, a man in a while lab coat, standing on the side behind the controls. He stood there, utterly calm about the situation, even when facing such a beautiful energy reaction at such humongous power levels. His goggled eyes looked at the phenomenon, looking on and watching for any mistakes. Suddenly, the rings gained a reddish glow and began to surge with red-colored lightning bolts before firing into the ball of rainbow energy, containing it. Suddenly, from above, on the ceiling, a blue ray of energy shot into the contained chamber through the transparent surface and hit the rainbow ball, causing the electricity to wildly spark around it as the color slowly changed... And a humongous, red sphere erupted inside the chamber, it's center as dark and empty as the void itself.
The man in the lab coat smiled.
"Success. Marvelous. This concludes the final test. Prepare the "project" for launch."
The communication screen behind him winked out, and the machine kept whirring, the magnificent, red ball of sparkling electricity producing enough energy to light up the containing sphere by static glow. the man punched the red button, and suddenly the entire red field was ejected... And total vacuum formed in the sphere instantaneously as the black ball expanded, reacting with materials inside the containing field, producing unbelievable energy levels and signatures before finally returning to its original state.
"Such a beautiful sight it is, I cannot help but watch it again and again."
The scientist gave a loud sigh of content before turning around and heading through the door, walking down the rather long hallway and walking through another door, coming into a much, MUCH larger chamber, a docking bay for a most magnificent giant machine. An almost completely black mech of rather large proportions with 8 arrayed, glowing-red lines and dots for eyes, the entire design edged and angular as to increase deflection and aerodynamics. It was powering up, and the energy readings from the reactor showed rather stable... At humongous levels.
Slowly, the clamps released, but the Mech stayed completely afloat before hovering forward slightly. The scientist smirked.
"It works, doesn't it?"
There was only a confirming sound from the pilot as the mech moved forward ever so slightly and turned to face the scientist, whose grin grew all the way to maniacal , almost insane-looking levels as he whipped out a plate of flan out of nowhere and dug in with a spoon. The pilot then put himself on voice projection.
"Ready for briefing, professor."
The lab-coat man nodded. "You are a mercenary. Your files are complete. Go out and have some fun... And do enjoy yourself. It would be incredibly inconvenient if you don't. Does it respond correctly?"
The mech's head quickly nodded. "Yes it does, professor. The response levels are at 10%, civilian level, low threat. All systems are green. It... The Andromeda is happy. It can finally taste freedom again, and this time for a long time."
The man in the lab coat nodded and punched the red button behind him before saluting the pilot just once, almost mockingly, before disappearing in the door. A shimmering field disappeared from the far side of the dock, and the enormous machine floated forward, through the door that opened and onto the base of a rather long-looking rail launchway. Clipping itself into place, the mech settled as the door closed, the field came back up, and a light suddenly shone at the far end of the rail, a passageway opening. Two seconds later, the lights on the walls suddenly lip up, crackling, and the mech was launched upwards and outwards at speeds exceeding a thousand miles an hour, right out the side of one of the mountains of one of the Fornax moons, avoiding all detection and passing into orbit before it showed up on scanners suddenly. The rail's entrance closed, and the secret laboritory was hidden away yet again.
The mech suddenly gathered up, boosters shooting it fully out of orbit and into warp...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Avalon Orbit
And it was here that a Hyperspace Warp opened and the black mech with red eyes suddenly leapt out, the warp closing behind it before it could be traced. And it continued on as its eyes lit up again, activating and exiting hibernation mode. Quickly, it entered orbit and input codes, cruising calmly around the planet within its defensive perimeter.
It was as if it was waiting for something...
And it was waiting indeed. While the input codes for docking were run through the local systems, the mech was in resting mode, following landing protocol and queue, just like any proper pilot.
The Vidit of Light - January 1, 2008 09:46 AM (GMT)
T.R.S. Normandy, observation deck
Didymus noticed the warp field opening and closing, off in the distance.
Interesting. he thought. Was that one of the mechs assigned to the Normandy? It looked kind of like one...but it is pretty far away.
Entry port, T.R.S. Normandy
Rachel stood there, and straightened her dress uniform's hat again. She figeted a little, with anticipation. She was getting impatient. Regardless, she stood there, facing the doorway, waiting for the pilots to arrive. She checked the list she held by a clipboard again.
"Hmmm..." she mused.
There are only three pilots? Let me see...two guys, one girl? Well, I wish they'd just get here! But I'll wait. The colonel wants me to show them in, and he'd probably want me to be "professional" about it, so I'll keep my back straight and wait for them as long as I need to! she thought.
Avalon Orbital Traffic Control
(I'd like to say, NO single mech in this RP is capable of destroying the defenses of any of the "HQ planets". That is a fact that will be stated here and now. Anyway...)
An officer hailed the Andromeda.
"Mech "Andromeda"." he said. "Your civilian docking code checks out, but we are decting high-grade weapons and defense systems aboard your craft. Please stand down and identify yourself."
HellAvatar - January 1, 2008 09:55 AM (GMT)
Avalon Orbit
At first, there was no response from the "Andromeda"... But then, finally audio suddenly kicked in with no video feed as a response from the mech.
"This is the NL Andromeda, as should be stated by official documentation. The presence of the high-grade weaponry and systems is following the job description. Currently, I am working as a freelancer with no official ranking or job to speak of, and therefore I am permitted to carry high-class weaponry."
The mech turned about, facing suddenly towards the orbiting Normandy, giving it a rather loose scan. Upon revelation of general statistics and equipment, the pilot spoke again.
"Is there any other specific reason for me to check into the Orbital Control System?"
(Of course, TVoL. No mech can take that much firepower. However, any planet attacking another planet will be able to do so with a rather large fleet, wouldn't you say so? That way, we can include stuff like that into the RP and story while keeping it away from god-modding hands.)
AGodofIrony - January 1, 2008 09:56 AM (GMT)
(Hey guys! If you want to make a planet, go ahead! The original four are their as bases, and to help keep the amount of planets not to high done.)
-Orbit Over Avalon-“Well at least this time we just got sent into orbit…” Jamie sighed, looking down at the planet and mistaking it for Earth. He didn’t notice the extra moons.
“Actually…” Kiva said, typing at her hologram computer, “That…isn’t Earth. In fact, I don’t think we’re anywhere in the known galaxy…”
“Well it looks like someone is here…” Coop said, pointing towards the Normandy and Andromeda. Megas waved, and Coop hailed them.
“Hey, any idea where we are?”
-Pollock VI-Very suddenly, a screen in front of Upfield’s desk flickered on, and a bemused looking scientist with a large mustache grinned, stroking said mustache.
“Hello Mr. Upfield. Do not try to adjust your set, and don’t bother trying to trace this signal. You won’t be able to,” Eggman grinned, peering at the man, “Now, I understand you might have need for mercenaries, no? However, there’s always the chance the mercenaries will turn if the other side offers more money? Well then, I have the solution for you!”
The screen flickered, and suddenly showed a
large robot.“This is my latest creation! An unmanned mech, perfect for your uses. It comes cheap, you don’t have to pay for pilots, and you can either choose a preprogrammed unit to do your bidding, or install one yourself, if you’re not feeling up to trusting the good doctor here,” Eggman grinned, appearing back on the screen.
“Now…” Eggman said, leaning back in his chair over the screen, grinning, “Interested?”

Spork HQ: Lab
"Great... Locked in again." Avenger muttered. "That guy works waaaaaaay too hard for something he probably doesn't even want to achieve."
With that, Avenger lightly stepped to the door, cleared his throat, and...
PROCEEDED TO BEAT ON THE DOOR WITH INTENSE FEROCITY.
"OPEN THE DAMN DOOR, HOLMES! WE GOTS AN EMERGENCY!" He yelled loudly, almost shattering some of the Professor's various beakers.
"Whoopsie. Forgot about that whole 'demonic scream' thing."

Avalon Orbital Traffic Control
(Indeed, there will be huge planetary assault battles that I intend to write in (and I'm confident that Irony will support) involving massive fleets and huge planetary surface-level armies. Thanks. And Irony, remember, Avalon has 1 moon, like Earth. Anyway, with that being said...)
The officer did a quick check on his system, and, of course, it checked out.
"Very well, Andromeda." the officer said. "But we detected that energy surge from your craft. Please refrain from scanning military equipment without authorization to do so. Other than that, thank you, and welcome to Avalon. Enjoy your stay."
Pollock VI
Upfield was shocked.
"What the-?!?!?!" he said. "Who are you?!?!?!"
However, as Eggman went on with his proposition, Upfield was indeed interested. But he had to know more about that person...
"I am interested." Upfield said. "But sir, first, I must know your name, then, perhaps we can get together for a discussion of a...busniess relationship."
Upfiled smiled a bit at Eggman.
AGodofIrony - January 1, 2008 10:20 AM (GMT)
(D’oh! Right…>.<…Anyways, giant planetary battles? Sounds awesome.)
-Pollock VI-
“Ah, how naïve of me. I assumed you know about the great Doctor Eggman,” Eggman chuckled, “So, Mr. Upfield, a get together? I may be able to be by your building, in oh…”
He glanced somewhere off the screen.
“An hour or so?”
-Spork HQ-
The door suddenly swung open, AGoI, wearing a helmet one uses when welding over his head, though not over his face at the moment.
“Don’t do that,” he hissed, “You almost broke one of the Jusenkyo Curses I’ve been studying and that would have been very bad. Ring the doorbell.”
He jabbed towards a button by the door. “Honestly. Now what is it?”
-Avalon Orbit-
“Hey, hello!” Coop yelled, Megas waving it’s arms wildly, “Directions or anything here?”
HellAvatar - January 1, 2008 10:28 AM (GMT)
Avalon Orbit
"I apologize. However, the scan I performed was a generalized scan for type and class search instead of in-depth which would have alerted weapons systems. I assumed that such low-grade scans were within the ability of any pilot, including a civilian, to make. If I am wrong, correct me. The energy surge was from an exit from a personalized hyperwarp, and is not dangerous to anything in the immediate vicinity."
The Andromeda made a rather quick turn, facing the giant mech that was waving its arms around, and the same kind of monotone, emotionless voice came through.
"There also seems to be another space-capable machine in orbit as well as myself. Also, I would like a news debriefing on the situation on Avalon if and whenever possible. As a freelancer, I am currently searching for any job opportunities possible."
The Vidit of Light - January 1, 2008 10:35 AM (GMT)
Avalon Orbital Traffic Control Center
The Normandy had forwarded Megas's hail to AOTCC, and the officer that had just spoken to the Andromeda spoke up.
"Unidentified mech." a bit suprised, perhaps, that someone who had come by did not recognize Avalon he said. "You are in orbit above Avalon. Please identify yourselves."
With that, he awaited a response from Megas.
(Anyway, Irony, please keep in mind, of course, that there are many stations and ships in orbit over Avalon, and that defense ring around its unatmosphered moon, perhaps cities on its moon, too, etc. Kiva, considering where she hails from, may be rather intrigued.)
Pollock VI
Upfield smiled in a very businessman-like way.
"Certainly. I look forward to it." he said.
(Irony, are you using an Eggman who somehow got warped off the "Earth in the Sonic series", if you want to call it that, or a more original Eggman, or what?)
HellAvatar - January 1, 2008 11:03 AM (GMT)
Avalon Orbital Entrance Gate
The Andromeda finally started to move instead of resting, having received permission from Orbital Control. Two boosters that looked REALLY overpowered in comparison to its height of around 15 meters fired up, blasting it towards the checkpoint gate. Upon reaching, it cut all boosters and acceleration almost as suddenly with maneuver thrusters that actually cut his speed and stopped the Andromeda within a second or so. It then turned towards the gate, and slowly floated forward, passing checkpoint and scanners...
And just like all previous time, the scanners did almost nothing to see what was inside the Andromeda. All they could pick up on was the external weaponry, which were a pair of claw entrances, some handles for what looked like blades and rather intense and complex electromagnetic matrix around the Andromeda.
Slowly, it passed through the gate. However, its head was still turned towards the mech that just showed up in Avalon Orbit.
AGodofIrony - January 1, 2008 11:17 AM (GMT)
-Orbit Above Avalon-
“Coop…these ships…It’s human all right, but I have no idea where, or when, we are. We never got far before the Gloorf attacked. It’s possible we’re in another dimension,” Kiva said from the backseat, “But all these battle ships signify there might be some sort of war going on, so be careful.”
“Huh? Oh, right, right,” Coop said, waving his hand, then turned back to the screen to continue talking to the Normandy.
“Name’s Coop, and this is my robot, Megas. Nice to meet you,” Coop answered, waving his hand, Megas doing in kind.
Coop was certainly fairly laid back guy…
(I think I shall be using a more original Eggman, Vidit!)
-???-
The Eggman Fleet sent a single ship outwards, launched towards Pollock VI…
The Vidit of Light - January 1, 2008 11:25 AM (GMT)
(Alright, then, Irony, but remember, Coop isn't talking to the Normandy. His transmission was forwarded to Avalon Orbital Traffic Control Center.)
AOTCC
The officer was surprised by the laid-back nature of Coop, but nonetheless continued calmly.
"Okay then, sir, please state your busniess." he said.
Corporate City
Upfield watched the feed directly.
So... he thought. A new busniess partner...but I didn't get to where I am today by trust...
"Secretary!" he called. "Get me all information you can find on one "Dr. Eggman"!
With that, Upfield continued to watch as Eggman's ship approached Pollock VI.
AGodofIrony - January 1, 2008 11:37 AM (GMT)
(True, but Coop doesn’t know that. He would be looking towards the biggest ship closes to him.)
-Orbit Above Avalon-
“Well, I got lost,” Coop answered, shrugging, “Know where Ear-”
“Coop!” Kiva cut in, “We need to be careful. If we are in another dimension or in the very distant future, then we need to be careful.”
“Then what can I say?” Coop wondered, turning to look towards the red head.
“Tell him we’re mercenaries or something. Those guys get lots of money, right?” Jamie inquired, looking towards Coop.
“Mercenaries? I’m a good guy!” Coop shouted, turning towards Jamie, “Not being a mercenary.”
“Well we have to tell them something,” Jamie said, shrugging and leaning back in his chair.
“Let me talk to them…” Kiva sighed, and then leaned forward, speaking towards the communicator.
“We are not at current liberty to discuss where we come from, but require simply some time to gather our wits and figure out where exactly we are,” the red head said, “Requesting permission to leave the system safely.”
Unfortunately, Coop had left the transmit button on, meaning the guy would have heard everything earlier.
Plus, if they were to scan Megas, they would see some futuristic devices and…unconventional weapons contained within. Megas even contained a few nukes, never used. Plus, an unoperational Time Drive.
-Pollock VI-
(Whenever you’re ready, Eggman can dock and all that Vidit!)
The Vidit of Light - January 1, 2008 11:55 AM (GMT)
| QUOTE (AGodofIrony @ Jan 1 2008, 03:37 AM) |
Plus, if they were to scan Megas, they would see some futuristic devices and…unconventional weapons contained within. Megas even contained a few nukes, never used. Plus, an unoperational Time Drive. |
(Futuristic devices? As this is a sci-fi RP, they may not be quite so futuristic in comparison to what's around them now, even though we don't need to get into this RP's date. Anyway...)
AOTCC
Megas had been scanned, and although the timedrive was not exactly identified, Megas's devices were mostly laid out for information.
After a brief dialog with loyalist HQ over the results of the scan, the officer spoke up, despite being somewhat...puzzled by the strange comments he had heard.
"Uhh...roger that." he said. "Permission granted. But here."
With that, the officer uploaded news articles to Megas's computer drives, featuring such headlines as "CONTACT WITH EARTH LOST! FORNAX LEADS REBELLION!" and "PUBLIC CAN REST EASY: DARK MATTER WEAPON OFFLINE.", and even "CORPORATIONS DECLARE INDEPENDANCE!"
Perhaps those would help them get their bearings.
Pollock VI
As Eggman's craft approached Pollock VI, a wing of fighter craft began to approach it. As they did, one of them hailed Eggman:
"Welcome to Pollock VI, doctor. Please allow us to escort you to Corporate City."
When they arrived, and Eggman stepped out of his craft, a blond-haired secretary with small glasses approached him.
"Welcome, Doctor Robotnik. I am Mr. Upfield's secretary. He wishes to meet with you over drinks. Please, come with me." she said.
(Eesh...4 AM, roughly. Maybe I should hit the sack.)
AGodofIrony - January 1, 2008 12:08 PM (GMT)
-Orbit Above Avalon-
“Dark matter weapon? Corporation declares independence? Cut off from Earth?” Kiva paused, shaking her head, “No…I don’t know anything about this.”
“Hmmm…” Coop said, looking at the headlines, “Well we gotta help these guys!”
“Are you crazy Coop? Let’s just find a way to get home!” Jamie said, “This is crazy.”
“Maybe so, but they need our help,” Coop retorted, “Besides, how are we going to get back if we don’t know where we are? And I could use a cheese steak right now. Maybe about ten of them.”
“You ate just one hour ago Coop,” Kiva sighed.
“That long? No wonder I’m hungry!” Coop grinned, then turned back to the transmitter, “Hey…Uhhh…Any chance of a fellow getting something to eat, and maybe helping you guys out? Looks like you could use someone like me!”
“Here we go…” Jamie sighed, shaking his head.
-Pollock VI-
“Excellent,” Eggman smiled, nodding towards the secretary, as he disembarked. A small Eggman drone followed behind him. “And this is just a non fighting robot who carries my things.”
Indeed, the small drone was laden with various devices. None of them were weapons.
“There to help with the presentation, if needed,” Eggman explained.
The Vidit of Light - January 1, 2008 12:25 PM (GMT)
AOTCC
The officer sighed. This was NOT what he signed up for. Regardless, he did his duty. After another brief dialouge with loyalist HQ, he had his orders on how to handle them.
"You are granted moon access. Mercenary agencies can be found in numerous cities there, as can recruitment offices. They can give you more information about opportunities to help us. Have a nice day."
With that, the officer cut the transmission and turned his attention to other orbital traffic over Avalon.
Pollock VI: Corporate City
The secretary looked over the droid.
"Very well." she said, and then led Eggman through various hallways and such, until finally coming to a room containing a dimly lit "high-class" bar, and led Eggman to a table, at which Upfield was sitting, sipping a drink.
"Welcome, doctor." Upfield said. "Please, sit down, and order a drink yourself."
With that, he regarded Eggman, mentally sizing him up.
Baine - January 1, 2008 05:55 PM (GMT)
--Orbit above Fornax--
Ayato had been cruising through space for weeks, visiting every planet with signs of life he could find. When he had left Tokyo Jupiter for Earth he had no idea just how many planets could be between them. He hadn't bothered to ask for directions anywhere, and following a map is fairly difficult when you don't know where you are and can't recognize anything in the large black void he found himself in.
As he neared another planet he grumbled to himself, "This one better be it... If it's not I swear I'm goi-". He never got to finish stating what he was swearing, as it came to his attention he was about to run headfirst into a ship orbiting the planet.
"Shit!" he cursed and began to attempt to move away in time. He had found that maneuvering in space was quite different than maneuvering in the atmosphere of Tokyo Jupiter, and was still sluggish because of it. He managed to avoid the ship, mostly. RahXephon's foot tapped the rear end as it passed.
Ayato bit down on his lip. "Way to go buddy, you just had to have such long legs...Now I've got a shuttle with road rage to worry about."
Bringing the RahXephon to a stop and turning it about to face the ship he had just tapped, he took this time to examine it. It didn't look like any of the transport vehicles in Tokyo Jupiter, nor did it resemble any of the Dolems he had fought. But then again, neither did most of the things he came across on this journey so far.
--A Hanger on Earth--
Saber gazed upon the large mech she was being shown. It looked a lot like her, except without the warmth. The design was flattering, yet creepy at the same time. She turned to the mechanic.
"He wants me to learn to fly this? Why?" She asked, brandishing her sword, Excalibur, "Why, when I have such a fine weapon already?"
The mechanic shrugged. "He told me to let you know that the newspapers are predicting armegeddon, and he wants you to help out. Swords are outdated, lady."
She sighed and commanded quickly, "Open up the hatch." The mechanic did so with a press of a button and slid the remote to her. With one quick jump she was inside of the mechanical-her.
She knew the mechanic would teach her how to control it if she asked, but preferred to experiment. Soon she had it walking, and had mastered arm-movement. Now she wanted to see what weapon capabilities it had. She had noticed the large sword on it's back before jumping in, and so with a little effort she had grasped it's hilt and pulled it out in front of her. It looked remarkably like Excalibur. She swung it a few times. Now this is something I can use... she thought.
Exiting the mech she turned to the mechanic. "I suppose I can use this. Thank you for your time, and I'll be sure you're paid for the storage space."

Orbit Near The NormandyA long shape loomed in on the horizon. It was snake-like and seemed to glide along through the air, moving far too fast for debris and without the giveaway tail of a comet. Indeed, it was a ship -- but unlike the majority of them. While most ships were bulky and blocky, this one moved with a fluid motion and a lot of side-to-side swerving, like a snake swimming across a pond.
Light illuminated the
Dragon Star King. It was not a mere ship, but also a mighty mech for Avalon's alliance.
The dragon ship glided into the Normandy's hanger and landed. A young man exited the ship wearing the Avalon Uniform. The insignia on his shoulders showed him to be a Captain, a rank he'd only recently obtained.
His mind drifted back to what he'd done before piloting the Dragon Star King... he closed his eyes and shook his head.
Entry port, T.R.S. NormandySama arrived and looked around, until he spotted Rachel. He paused and then walked over. He never was used to military life, so instead of saluting and the proper thing to do...
"Hey. I'm the new guy." He said simply.
The Vidit of Light - January 1, 2008 07:58 PM (GMT)
T.R.S. Normandy
Rachel, actually being of lower rank than Sama, (1st lieutenant's right below captain), saluted him, but also flashed a smile.
"Uhh...," she checked her list. "Captain Sama?" she asked.
"Welcome aboard the Normandy. Colonel Didymus is waiting for you. I'm 1st lieutenant Rachel Silvit, the colonel's batwoman. If there's anything I can do for you, though, please let me know, and I'll do it, if I can. Anyway, come with me."
With that, Rachel led Sama to the observation deck, where Didymus was waiting.
"Sir." she said, saluting. "Captain Sama, sir."
"Very good, lieutenant." Didymus replied, regarding them with that same earnest but gentle look on his face. "Thank you. Please go and ensure the other pilots also make it here."
"Sir." she said, with another salute. With that, and a smile, a salute, and another "Welcome aboard, captain!" directed at Sama, she returned to her post.
"Captain Sama?" Didymus asked, stepping towards Sama. "I'm colonel Didymus. Welcome aboard."
With that, Didymus waited, to see if a salute would be coming his way, as would be military custom. Not that he personally needed it, but it was military discipline, of course, for subordinates to salute their COs, and Didymus was not one to abandon those kinds of things in most situations.

"What the-?!?!" the ship pilot that had been rammed exclaimed.
Inside Ayato's mech, a voice sounded out from the communicator.
"Unidentified mech, this is Fornax Orbital Traffic Control, identify yourself."

Sama followed behind Rachel to the deck, where he gave her a wave as she walked away and called: "Thanks!"
Then he turned to the Colonel. He really wasn't up-to-grade on Military Procedure, so he did not salute. It was one of those things that he'd never really gotten used to. Then again, there was a reason for that.
"So... I guess you're the big cheese around here, eh? Nice to meet you. Got to admit, I'm not used to all this stuff." The Captain was about as un-military as one could be. He was slumped in his standing, practically leaning against the wall. His hat was nowhere to be seen, which means that technically he was out-of-uniform. It seemed... unusual... that someone like him could have been a Officer.
((Heh, I know Sama's behavior and lack of proper dress-code is all a bit strange, but it fits his character... and I plan to explain it all very shortly.))
Pollock VI: Corporate City
The door to Upfield's Office opened and in walked a man dressed all in black. He had a leather trench coat, dark slacks and a black vest. He even wore sunglasses. The one stark contrast was how very pale his skin was, and his hair... it was butter-yellow and looked to be full of gel.
"Sir." Wesker said as he stepped into the room. "We've made contact with Roger Smith, the Negotiator, as per your request."
Wesker had not been the one to set up the communication, he merely reported it to the boss. He always seemed to be lurking around, doing something.

Didymus was a bit suprised at Sama's lack of procedure. Sure, he had been wared that some of the incoming pilots may be simply hastily-recruited civilians, but a captain in the U.T.R. military (remember, Avalon still considers itself and/or still is part of the United Terran Republic)? There was something wrong here. If the circumstances had been different, he may have given Sama a reprimand, at least in word. As it was, however, he spoke up like this:
"Yes, I've been assigned as the direct commander of the Normandy, and the mech corps., of which, it seems, you are a part. I know, I know, you were expecting a colonel to be quite a bit older than I am, but, well, I'll say that I seem to have been blessed with a grasp of military matters beyond my years, and I was only appointed to this position recently. But anyway, what do you mean you're "not used to all this stuff", captain? What do you mean? But before you answer, please, let me say a few things: One, if you are military staff, which, judging by your attire, and the insignia on your shoulders, I'm guessing you are, then, as your CO, I will ask you now to bear in mind that you WILL maintain proper military discipline and procedure as long as your are under my command. Make no mistake, it's not like I'm going to court-martial you for failing to salute or keep track of your uniform's hat, but I like to keep proper procedure in any units I'm entrusted with. Understood?"
Didymus had tried to sound firm without gloating over his superior rank, but either way, he awaited Sama's response.
(I understand, Sama. Indeed, if you're using the SW&WS Sama, especially, then I can see how radical the change in pace for his life would have been, and how he may not quite be used to things in the military.)
Pollock VI-Corporate City
Upfield's secretary greeted Wesker.
"Thank you, Mr. Wesker." she said. "Mr. Upfield is at abusniess meeting now, so could you patch the call through to me?"
She prepared herself to negotiate with the Negotiator.
(I'd like to urge everyone still involved in TSC not to forget about it, please. Even though it doesn't have the new-topic smell like this RP does.)

“Of course. I’m always careful,” Coop said, and Megas revved up, flying towards the moon, “Though I can’t see why we just can’t land on the big spaceship.”

“Now, I won’t keep you to long,” Eggman said, then motioned to the bartender (if there was one), and ordered a simple glass of water.
“One doesn’t stay a genius of 300 I.Q. and with reflexes like mine by indulging in a few of life’s…shall we say, enjoyments?” Eggman grinned, sipping his water, “Alcohol does kill brain cells after all, and I use every last one.”
He coughed, then pulled a small cube from the tray his small droid presented, then placed it on the counter, pushing a small button on top of it.
A hologram flickered on over it, showing the robot again and it’s specs.
“Now, like I said before, these unmanned mechs come with either a preprogrammed A.I. A very simple one, don’t have to worry about a ‘robot uprising’, or with a clean slate, which you can program in yourself,” Eggman said, motioning to the hologram, “Now because of the way they are built, the ones with a preprogrammed A.I. are actually cheaper. It’s easier to have something installed in them then make it so they are compatible with other systems.”
Eggman leaned back, and motioned to the cube, “You see the specs here, and know why they may not be on par with some of those manned pilots, they are ten times cheaper then any manned pilot, and there is power in numbers, no?
“And finally,” Eggman grinned, “At no cost to you, comes in any color you can think of, and fully customizable.”

“…No…” Peterson said, standing up, “This might be a Loyalist trick. Get my Geloog ready five minutes ago.”
“Yes sir,” his assistant said, and ran off, Peterson strolling down the hall behind her.

Avenger read over the page several times, making absolutely sure that it was what he was looking for. It had to be. The files he hacked were on the Marines' official database. Looking over the specs and the pictures a few more times, he made up his mind.
"I'll need to get my hands on some jet engines, but with the Professor around, that shouldn't be too hard to do."
And with that, Avenger pressed his fingers to his forehead, and vanished into thin air, off to Earth*, and his target, Metal Gear RAY.

Sama paused for a long time, not saying a word. Then, at last, he spoke up.
"... Sir, I'm not used to this military procedure. I can understand you'll want me to keep up with them, but the honest truth is, I probably won't." Sama replied, not in a sarcastic way but in a honest way. "The truth is, Colonel, I'm not big on protocol or procedure... but the one thing I can do is my job."
He crossed his arms and leaned against the wall. "The truth is, forgetting my hat or not knowing when to salute... those things are insignificant in the grand scheme of things. When it counts -- when I'm piloting a Mecha, or when there's someone life on the line... that's when I follow orders, and that's when I'm at my best."
He paused, then he laughed. "Just trying to be honest, Colonel."

(I hate to butt in, but it may be its own area for this RP. Of couse, it may not matter too much, but yeah...it keeps it more "realistic". Of course, again, it may not matter too much. What does anyone else (namely Irony) have to say about that issue? Anyway...)

Upfield eyed Eggman and silently expressed disappointment with his abstaining from alcohol. You see, as a businessman, he found that people with...weaknesses were easier to control. Nonetheless, he kept his cool, and when Eggman was done explaining, Upfield spoke.
"It looks very nice, doctor." he said. "But I can get robotic battle mechs cheaper than what you're offering at. However, I may consider purchasing some if we were to have a...field demonstration."
With that, he continued to regard Eggman, waiting for him to respond.
T.R.S. Normandy
Didymus smiled a bit at Sama's comments.
"Very true." he said, earnestly, in response to them. "And truth be told, I'd much rather have a competent soldier who understands the value of life and is honest about where he stands than a yes-man who can salute with the best of us but can't fight worth anything. In fact, I've actually openly disregarded the orders of one of my COs once before, of course, at Baker's Ridge."
Didymus paused, letting his words sink in, gathering his thoughts.
"Very well, captain." he eventually said. "Good to have you aboard. Still, as your CO, I insist that you try to keep protocol, even if you are not perfect at it. And speaking of which, if I may ask, how did you get to the rank of captain without getting used to procedure? I may be able to guess, but either way, do you mind filling me in?"
Hoping that he wasn't off to a bad start with Sama, Didymus awaited his response.

Deep in the lab, AGoI paused, looking up at the mech.
“There…modifications are complete. Eddie, are you downloaded?”
“Yes sir!” the chipper A.I. said from the mech, out of place in how the mech looked.
“Heh…Avenger thought I didn’t know what was happening…My scanners picked up a weapon months ago. And a weapon like that…” The Spork paused, then shook his head, “No…But still, I have to check it out.”
There was a hiss, as the mech moved into a large ship, AGoI getting in as well.
“Jimi and Hammah can look after the lab,” The Spork said to himself, “This is something I need to do on my own.”
Outside of Teh Town, a large field suddenly began to rumbled, pulling backwards, as a large ship suddenly flew outwards into the sky, out into orbit, then kept going.
“Heh…now…” AGoI muttered, typing at some controls, “We begin…”
-Corporation City-
“Bull,” Eggman said, leaning back in his chair, “You might be able to get unmanned mechs at a cheaper price, but they’re pieces of junk. Fifty of those second, no, third rate hunks of metal couldn’t hold a candle to what I’m offering you.
“Why my mechs are more expensive, they are cheaper in the long run, as you wouldn’t have to replace them as much. However, if you’re still not convinced, I could be convinced to sweeten the deal slightly,” Eggman finished, taking another sip of his water. “Or perhaps, a demonstration?”
He pulled out another small cube and placed it down, clicking it on, and showing the vacuum of space, though one of the stars was shown, and so was a very Earth-like planet.
“Avalon, the Loyalists. One of your enemies, correct?” Eggman grinned, “Watch.”

At the far reaches of Avalon, a regiment of unmanned Eggman mechs appeared, entirely hostile and ready to fight, most likely setting off Avalon’s defense network!

He seemed sad in recalling whatever had happened. "... They offered me the Mech and the Rank. I accepted. There's a lot more to the story, but if it's all the same to you, Colonel, I'd like to get settled in now."

Marine Ship: Cargo Hold
Avenger quietly snuck into the ship's hold. He had seen some weird things happening on board, though. The ship was taken over by some terrorists, he assumed, from Russia, and to his surprise, he thought he saw a moving cardboard box in the hallways. Somehow, though, he managed to sneak by all of this, unnoticed.
"Damn... I'm good." He thought as he snuck by the huge numbers of troops, listening to their commander's speech.
"That must be the man in charge of the project, Commander Dolph." He then thought, turning his attention to the screen behind the Marine commander. On one side, there was, strangely, a picture of a Japanese model.
"What the? Friggin' pervs!" He thought to himself, trying to withhold his laughter. He then caught what was on the other side of the screen: His target.
"So, there you are, my pretty..." He whispered as he began to move forward towards his destination.
When he finally arrived, he stood in amazement.
"Oh my..." He said, noticing the lack of any guards. Of course, with that kind of machine, who needs guards?
"I can already see it now... 'Avenger, why did you bring that thing on to my lawn'" He mocked the Professor. "Oh well, time to get while the gettin's good."
He moved over beside the gigantic beast of a machine, and placed his hand on it, at the same time, pressing his other hand against his head.
"Suckers."
And with that, the dark warrior and his prey vanished back to Spork HQ...
And the moving box arrived, seeking what had already been taken.
"Otacon. We have a problem."

Avalon Checkpoint Gate
Suddenly, the Andromeda's head automatically swung to the left, turning so it faced far-off incoming forces just as it was passing away downwards to the planet away from the gate. Suddenly, it stopped, negating the gravitational pull of the planet as two additional lines and dots activated along with its primary eyes. This time, it was just watching... But the incoming force was rather large.
And it looked far too strange.
A communication connected to the Avalon Orbital Control, sounding somewhat more urgent than the lazy communication that was before... And then, suddenly switched to emergency as the bots were identified as hostile and flying far too fast and in erratic attack patterns.
"This is the Andromeda, emergency call. Unidentified hostile fleet approaching. If required, I am on standby and ready to engage. However, as a mercenary, I cannot do so until I have assurance that I will benefit from this."

Didymus regarded Sama earnestly. For a while, he stood there, facing him. His look was not one of disapproval, nor disrespect. It was an earnest look, but on it, at the same time, one could see traces of sympathy. It was war, and Didymus understood that, horrible as it is, sometimes, lives must be taken. However, he felt that this wasn't necessarily the time for that. That being the case, he spoke up.
"Of course, captain. Go ahead and get settled in." he said.
He was about to show Sama a map of the ship so as to show him key rooms in it, when, suddenly, the alarm went off.
"Normandy! Hostile craft entering the area! Raise your shields, but DO NOT engage! Repeat, DO NOT engage hostile craft! Let the defense forces handle it!"
"Understood. Raise shields!" Didymus said into communicators. With that, he turned back to Sama.
"Captain Sama, if you wish to get settled in," he said, punching up that map mentioned earlier. "Your quarters are located here," he said, pointing to a place on the map"the mess hall is here, the recreational facilities, I can explain, if you like, are located here, and finally, the ship's chapel, if it concerns you, is here. So, shall I call a lieutenant to help you with your bags, or would you prefer to carry them yourself, or ," at this, Didymus began to grin a bit,"would you prefer to drop them here and get into your mech in case we are called out to fight?"
With that, he awaited Sama's response.
AOTCC
The officer returned the Andromeda's transmission.
"Andromeda, you have been assured compensation for damages and a slight extra sum if you assist us in repeling the hostiles. It's your call about whether or not to help."
Meanwhile, in orbit, a few ships, crusiers, battleships, (a considerable amount of them warming up their grav well generators) and fighter wings began to engage the Egg forces.
HellAvatar - January 2, 2008 06:34 AM (GMT)
Avalon Checkpoint Gate
"Do not concern yourself with damages. Engaging. Please refrain from using rapid-firing, inaccurate weaponry."
The Andromeda flared up, red lights suddenly appearing all over its body as it made a full swing around and shot back out of the checkpoint gate at high speeds, switching direction almost instantly with a flip and counter-gravity and shot for the incoming squadron of mechs. The Andromeda, now increasing booster thrust to beyond-human levels, swerved left and right, fully in control of its flight pattern. It shot past the defensive perimeter and straight for the first mech, a glowing-blue field appearing underneath its right arm and materializing into a rather large minigun (100M-mm Triple Tri-Minigun, see Info Thread).
And then, it opened fire, the three triple-barrels spewing forth a deadly hail of concentrated fire at the closest target, making a sideways strafe because otherwise, the mech's forward-flight speed would surpass that of the bullets. After the first salvo, the Andromeda swerved several times, dodging, before making a second strafe and firing a second salvo.
Inside the pilot's control room was havoc. Red outlines were appearing all over the screen, identifying enemy units, all of the information fed down the communications link to the Orbital Control base from up-close, while the pilot battled. From the outside, you could almost see the red, glowing lines on the Andromeda streaking in the air, making magnificent twists and turns, handled by an experienced pilot.
Only one pilot ever drove a mech to its limits like that. This was the very same fighting style that the missing Jagan Shades of the Loyalist Secret Operations used in combat both in outer space and atmosphere.

(Other colony sounds good to me.)
-Avalon System-
The unmanned Eggman mechs scanned Avalon’s defenses. It wasn’t a penetrating scan, it simply saw what was there.
Forming into an attack formation, the ships plunged forward, and began to open fire on the attacking ships, a smaller group breaking off and going around, in an attempt to flank them and/or start attacking the main bases.
“Hey!” Coop shouted, seeing the mechs attack, “Looks like we get some fun!”
Coop revved the engine to Megas, and the giant robot car shot upwards, flying at the Eggman mechs.
“Hooooyah!” Coop shouted, shooting straight into the battalion, and punched one of the mechs down, only to find ten more surrounding him, and firing.
“Uh oh…” Coop muttered, as Megas protected itself best it could, then revved forward, trying to grab one of the robots.
As Andromeda fired at one of the mechs, being taken out, the others expanded around behind it, circling and reversing that circular direction, moving every which way yet still retaining some more of formation, something nearly impossible for manned mechs to do.
As Andromeda came back for a second shot, the mechs were ready, and suddenly pulsed outwards, the forward ones firing at the mech, pulsing out, and then the ones behind them firing and pulsing, and so forth, moving like a single entity.
-Corporation Capital-
“As you can see, they are well coordinated and responsive to any attacker, identified or not,” Eggman said, motioning to the mechs attacking Megas. “That blue robot is an unknown entity, and it attacks my mechs, and my mechs reply in kind. The inferior models others show tend to get confused at things like this, as they are only programmed to identify certain enemies.”
Waving his hand through the hologram, the view shifted, focusing inwards.
Now the view was closer towards Avalon, as the Eggman mechs battled there way closer.
“Of course, a single battalion of unmanned mechs wouldn’t be able to take out their defenses, but it should be sufficient for a distraction, or, if you had more, a complete army of mechs,” Eggman chuckled, “And did I mention they work in atmosphere and under water as well?”
-Spork HQ-
Avenger would find the house quiet. Spork was gone…
HellAvatar - January 2, 2008 07:13 AM (GMT)
Avalon System
The Andromeda swerved and strafed like some sort of dancer in between skilled swordsmen, spinning, twirling, performing intricate motions that were barely possible in this day and age, looking more like a skilled, winged dancer than a mech. The incoming, non-manned robots came coming and firing, but the Andromeda, fast and furious, dodged almost every single blast with only one or two deflecting off some sort of personalized shielding field, the power of the laser not quite enough to keep the trajectory to score glancing hits.
The Andromeda, however, landed hit upon hit on the incoming mechs, tracking their motions almost pinpoint-precisely, even their dodging factored in, destroying a robot every three seconds or so on average. It crashed through the formation several times to deliver physical blows to a stunned machine before shooting it full of holes and continued on, dancing.
However, for now, it mostly stuck to medium range with that minigun, never wasting more than a few shots to finish an enemy.
In ten seconds, the Andromeda was already scattering the machines and causing them to recalculate formations on the go as unit after unit was lost from their hive mind. And, during this entire time, the Andromeda remained untouched. Of course, the bots were advanced enough to be able to recalculate their formation almost instantly, and had some really good weapons to boot, but the Andromeda was a mech that was the ultimate creation and find of Desty Nova to date. And it was not something one could simply take down with numbers.
Boost left, minigun. Cunter-boost, dodge around for a bit with spins and turns made by apogee thrusters and again make a pass with the minigun. As a mech got too close for comfort, the Andromeda put its left palm up, the one open hand that was not busy with anything, and fired off a rather powerful laser, putting a large hole in the incoming machine.

Sama let out a small sigh and let his shoulders shrug. "Well, at least this new job won't be boring."
He turned around and started running down the hallway he had come in through. "Colonel," He called over his shoulders. "Send me the battle information on my mech's comscreen; I'll take care of this!"
Dashing out the door where he'd met Rachel earlier, Sama headed down into the hanger bay and returned to his large, dragon-shaped mech. He hurried inside and took his seat at the controls, reaching into his pocket for a small, round coin that shimmered like a ruby.
He placed the coin in a circular slot in the mech's control panel and suddenly the dragon's eyes flashed with a brilliant golden light. In an instant, the dragon slipped out of the hanger and back into the vastness of space.
Electricity cracked around the Dragon Star King as it was engulfed by the blackness and headed towards the battle.
