Title: Serenity!
Description: A Christian Manga

Knucxsonia - January 9, 2008 10:41 PM (GMT)
That's right, it's a Christian manga. It's about a girl in High School named Serenity. She meets a group of Christian kids called the Prayer Club. Serenity, not being a Christian, trys to ignore them. But that was foiled when the Prayer Club turns her into a pet project, or as I call it, a forced friend! You have got to read it!

I like The Books! ^_^

You what the books?

Meh, I kinda can't see it being that good, and I'll tell you why. Most things of this nature are rather, um, cheesy. Many of the church materials I have of this type are very cheesy, and I honestly can't bear to read em. One of those "don't tell me what I already know" type things.

Now, if it gave me something to actually think about, instead of just cramming the same things I've known for years down my throat, I do believe I'd be interested.

Yeah, it does sound a little like the Spanish Inquisition in manga form... but I'm sure it's not as cheesy or as Inquisitionesque as it sounds. Avenger is right: it's less about the subject matter and more about whether it gives the reader something to think about, i.e. how well-written it is and how well-developed the characters are. Which isn't really something I can judge from here, so I won't make any judgements beyond what is sounds like.

FullMetal Alchemist has Christian motifs! I definitely recommend checking that out.

I'm a christian but I don't think japanese are good at humor (Maybe cause I'm not japanese and don't understand there pop culture) and there christian view of things seeing as japan is a dirty place full of horny people and there hentai manga, I'm not saying everyone is perverted but it seems like it has a lot of perverted people there.

Being both a Christian (semi-agnostic, I'll admit, but still...) AND of Japanese ancestry, I can't help but take offense at those narrow-minded comments. I'm also not a horny pervert and I assure you that the dirty things you mentioned exist in EVERY culture. Please don't say things like that again. I know you added in that "not everyone" or whatever, but you contradict yourself with the rest of the paragraph since despite that little blurb you're still generalizing. This isn't the first time you've had to be told that you've said something offensive, but I'm hopeful it'll be the last. Please watch what you say, Theloveyoumakeistheloveyoutake.

Now that that's out of the way, I'd also like to state that Serenity is not Japanese, it's actually Korean. So... I guess it's actually technically manhwa and not manga.
