THE SIGNUP GUIDE

Hey guys, because there are so many new RPs popping up on the SRB and because not all of them are always in the proper formats and such here's a little topic to help out. SRB veterans feel free to add on especially because you guys probably know a lot more than me when it comes to starting RPs.

Other RP Tips

First Off: Ideas!

When starting an RP a great idea is a must! RPs need to be intresting and fun, something a lot of people can get into and have a lot of fun with. Good RPs involve a lot of characters, not just the ones the creator of the RP made, and continue involving everyone.

It's good to have a central theme of your RP but don't limit yourself. If you want to use a really specific theme in your RP don't limit everyone by being too specific. For example the SRB is known for awesome Sonic RPs, but their creators don't just limit the "universe" of their RP to one Sonic game or show. What's the fun in that? It limits characters allowed and creativity.

Of course some of the greatest RPs (Secret Wars for instance) combine tons of universes and characters from dozens of shows, games, books, etcs. These take tons of tallent to plan and only sesons vets should take one of these on. The central theme in Secret was was:

"the mysterious Beyonder, a dimension with a brain, gathered heroes and villans from many universes to determine whether good or evil was the correct path. After many adventures and battles, good and evil bound together to defeat the Beyonder!"-BR

See even if an RP has a wide range it has to have a central theme to keep people on track and not bored!

Second: Put your ideas into action

When you think your idea is a winner go ahead and write an introduction topic in the Roleplay Signup Fourm found Here. In this post you are going to have to explain a couple of things for us:

-What is your RP going to be about? Is it Sonic related, maybe Pokemon, Avatar? What do you want out of this? What do you think everyone else will want?

-Who are the characters involved. Don't limit this too much yourself, allow plenty of choice. It's good to open up most characters from the series or any OCs (Original Characters)

-When will this RP take place and under what circumstances? (Is there a war, a competition, a party, etc?)

Also we are going to need to know the rules. How many characters are we allowed to control? Should they be good guys or bad guys, or whatever we want? What rating should we keep it (Remember: the SRB doesn't really allow anything over PG-13) You make these rules....Just don't go crazy okies?

Signup Info

Usually in the signups we include information about our characters we are going to play in the RP depending on the guidelines in the rules. A good way to tell us about your character espeically if they are OCs: (Of course try to follow what is form is given in each RP if you are just joining an RP)
Name:
Age:
Alliance: (Good or Evil)
A Bit Of Info: (Some backstory and personality)
Picture or Description of character:

This is just a few guidelines to follow, once again i've only made one RP and it was awhile ago, but I hope this helps a bit!

I'm bored, I think I'll speak up here.

Sometimes, when an RP takes place in a universe with a lot of unique locations and organizations and historical events and such, a signups thread can get pretty crowded. Sometimes, in order to properly explain some of the various contents of the "RP universe", a second topic created for Q&A and encyclopedic purposes can be a pretty good thing. B&I (and the secret or not-so-secret RP that Irony and I are planning) use/will use this "mechanic".
