“Who Framed Super Kimi?”
Rapid Island floats above the rest of the world, a secluded refuge for those who seek it. Under the leadership of The Spoon and the protection of both the Flan-I council and a pair of mighty superheroes.
Beneath that floating paradise, though, lies the rest of the world. And somewhere down in that world is a heavily fortified fortress, controlled by a secret organization that was dedicated to protecting the world from evil and inequity.
Inside that building, several men and women were working hard on a project of the utmost secrecy and importance. In that deepest room there is a large table, clear and pure white. A blue light shines around the edge of it. On the top is a strange metal helmet and a equally odd glove.
“So this is it?” There were three men in the room who seemed important. One was a middle-aged man with a bald head and a small, well-kept goatee. He was dressed in a black uniform with silver trim, several medals and decorations adorned the front of it. A beret was crooked on his head, a small silver symbol on the front.
“Indeed.” The eldest of the men had gray hair that went down to his waist, thick, perfectly-round glasses and was wearing a white jacket. His face held a proud look, but it bordered on the edge of smugness. “The latest and greatest we've been able to produce. The glove can emit several different beam weapons; we've made one for practically any situation. The helmet allows several interfaces that can be used for everything from hacking a computer system to locking onto a target.”
The youngest of the three was staring at the glove and helmet, looking intrigued, but also cautious. He did not speak, however.
“Has it been tested at all?” The man in the uniform asked.
“That, Colonel . . . is what he is for, is it not?” The lab coat-wearing man replied with a grin as he turned his head to the youngest of their group. He also wore a uniform, similar to the Colonel's... though there were far fewer decorations adorning the jacket, and no hat was found on his head.
“Ah, of course.” The Colonel nodded. “Well, then, we should begin!”
The youngest of the group stepped forward and reached down, taking the robotic glove in his hand. He stared at it for a second before slipping it over his own hand and securely fastening it. He moved his fingers a few times, getting the feel for the glove. Then he reached for the helmet – and that's when everything went wrong.
The wall exploded forth and something sped by, flying between the three in the room and snatching the helmet off the table. That same something then hit the next wall, knocking it down easily, and flew right out of the building.
“... Well that sucks.”
[.....]
A matter of moments later, the youngest of the three men was now standing outside a daunting looking black door. He still wore the robotic glove over his arm and held it up, looking at the sleek bluish design. His mind was filled with questions, but so far there had been no answers.
Suddenly the door opened and the Colonel exited, looking nervous. Sweat lined his head and he looked uneasy. He turned to the younger man and crossed his arms. “This... isn't good. Not at all...”
“What is it?” The man with the robotic glove asked.
“We analyzed the security tapes... and we were able to isolate a few video frames. The thief moved so fast that it was hard to get a clear picture, but we finally managed it. Take a look.” The Colonel withdrew a photograph from his jacket and handed it to the gloved man.
The photo was a still-shot from one of the security cameras. It clearly showed the thief; a young woman with long, dark hair who wore a green-and-white jacket and a emerald bandanna. Her face was obscured by a lock of hair that was conveniently blocking it from view.
“... S-Sir? Is this accurate? This person... isn't she...?”
“Yes.” The Colonel replied. “We couldn't make out the face, but judging from her height and clothing... that's Super Kimi; hero of Rapid Island.”
The gloved man was surprised. “Why would a super hero steal from us?”
The Colonel scoffed. “Who knows? Super heroes – hah! They're all the same. A bunch of egotistical maniacs who fly around in costumes and brag about their special powers. Sure, they save the day – occasionally – but they make the rest of us crime-fighters look bad. Not to mention all the collateral damage they rack up! It's a disgrace. I don't know why this one decided to steal from us – but we need that helmet back.”
He paused, then grinned. “The glove should be able to detect the helmet if you get within a certain range.”
The gloved man blinked. “If I... wait, you want ME to go after her?”
The Colonel narrowed his eyes. “Agent Vidit... You were selected to test the new equipment. Part of it was stolen – but it's your responsibility to recover it!”
Vidit nodded. “Of course. Though... if I may, sir... isn't it a bit risky to rely on untested technology? Especially if the culprit has super powers?”
The Colonel shook his head. “The old technology could never beat a super hero. The untested stuff is our only chance. Besides... what better test than stopping a super hero?” He grinned, and Vidit thought there was something chilling about his grin.
“I agree, it would make a good test... but isn't our organization's top goal the prevention of chaos? I think attacking a super hero would only create the very thing we're dedicated to stopping.” Vidit was clearly conflicted between his new assignment and his oath to stop evil and chaos.
“True... but the chaos you could create is nothing next to the potential evil that could be unleashed if that helmet is misused; and that's the final word on the matter. Agent Vidit, your mission is to find Super Kimi and get the helmet back – at any cost.”
“A-Any cost? Sir, are you saying...”
“Yes, I am.” The Colonel cut him off. “If she refuses to return the helmet... then to prevent it from being misused, I'm authorizing you to destroy Super Kimi, and anyone else who gets in your way!”
Vidit went silent. He looked down at his shoes, unable to shake the feeling that his orders would only bring about more danger than it would prevent. He had a feeling that something odd was going on. Apparently the Colonel realized his feelings, because he added another statement.
“You may not understand my orders, but believe me... if you knew as much about that helmet as I do... if you knew what it was capable of... then you'd understand why there's no price too high to pay for it's return.”
Agent Vidit wasn't too sure about that. Something was going on – but he'd know nothing until he found the helmet. That was his main goal. The helmet sounded dangerous... to him, it sounded too dangerous.
“Oh! Where is it? This is getting annoying!”
The K Tower. Home to Teh City's greatest heroes . . . also home to The Guardian, a small green alien, his pet robot and a occasionally to a giant leech named Shannon who sometimes follows Sama home (generally attached to his head, draining him of blood).
On this day, a crisis has engulfed the K Tower. A crisis that had, for a few minutes, gone unnoticed by Wonder Sama who was sitting on the couch reading an issue of Trigun. A moment later, though, it finally caught up with him when the door opened and Super Kimi flew in, her arms crossed and looking very unhappy.
“Sama! Have you seen my green jacket?” Kimi asked.
Sama lowered the manga and looked up. He blinked, and wondered for a moment if this was a trick question. “The one you're wearing right now?”
As he suspected, her shoe suddenly made friends with his face, sending him flying off the couch. As he climbed back up, he could hear her irritated reply. “No Sama... I mean my back-up jacket that looks identical to the one I'm wearing. I can't find it anywhere.”
The sidekick blinked and stood up. “Wait... you have another jacket that looks exactly like the one you're wearing?”
Kimi blinked in reply. “Duh. All super heroes have extra clothes that look exactly like the one's they wear to fight crime. I mean, what, am I supposed to only have one pair of crime-fighting clothes? I'd have to do laundry every night! Only an idiot would do something like that.”
Sama coughed. “N-Not every night... it can be every other night, as long as there's no heavy combat or as long as the clothes don't get covered in anything slimy or smelly...” He paused. “I mean, I assume. I-It's not like that's what I do. I have back-up crime-fighting clothes too...”
The super hero shook her head. “... By now, I really shouldn't be surprised.” Sama sweat dropped and fell back to the floor.
Sama shrugged. “Relax! I'm sure you just misplaced it.”
“No, and besides, it isn't just my spare-jacket. My extra bandanna is missing too.” Kimi crossed her arms. “Something is going on.”
Still not impressed by the gravity of the situation, Sama snickered and said: “Aw, don't worry so much. It's not like this is all part of some super villain's plan to frame you for a crime and divert attention while they attempt to unleash some kind of evil plot.”
Kimi blinked. “You know, whenever someone says something like that in cartoons...”
There was a massive clang as the metal of the wall behind Kimi started to shake. As the two turned to watch the wall, they saw a thick layer of ice form over the window at a high rate of speed, blotting out the light from outside and leaving one side of the K-Tower completely frosted over.
“... something really BAD happens.” Kimi sighed. “Sama, one of these days we need to have a long talk about statements like that.”
A second clash as some kind of beam weapon struck the wall to their side and it too was frozen over. Now two of the walls of the K Tower were sheeted with a thick plating of ice, denying access to the outside world.
Sama scratched the back of his head. “Yeah... I guess I did sort of ask for this.”
A third mighty crash and another wall was frozen solid, adding to the mass of ice that had already sprang up.
“Maybe we should have that talk later.” Kimi sweat dropped, then she shot towards the fourth and final wall. Unfortunately, before she could break through there was a roar and ice covered it as well. Now the entire K Tower was frozen solid; a great block of ice covering each and every wall.
“Greeeeeat.” Kimi sighed. “We wasted time talking and let all four walls freeze! Now how do we get out?”
Sama paused. “I... I dunno... but no worries, I wouldn't write us into a situation we can't escape from.”
Kimi raised an eyebrow, but before she could speak the wall that had just been frozen – the fourth wall – screamed out in pain. “WHY? WHY IS IT ALWAYS MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE?” It shouted as it crumbled and fell away – taking the ice with it.
“Ooooh, I see what you did there.” Kimi nodded. “I guess for once we broke the fourth wall for a practical reason.”
Sama shrugged. “It was bound to happen eventually.”
“So... you wanna get out of here before whatever-froze-this-place freezes the hole too?” Kimi asked.
“Oh, yeah! Right, good idea.”
The two jumped out the window – Kimi flying away from the Tower and heading straight up; Sama falling towards the ground, but jumping at the bottom and landing in a nearby tree. He hurried to the treetops and jumped along the various trees as Kimi flew beside him.
“What's the plan?” Sama asked.
“We figure out where my jacket and bandanna are; duh.” Kimi replied.
Sama narrowed his eyes. Kimi groaned.
“FINE! We'll figure out whose trying to kill us first! There, you happy? Let's do all the things that YOU want to do.” Kimi shook her head. Her sidekick sighed.
“... Hey Sama... one more thing.” Kimi blinked, as if she had suddenly realized something.
“Yeah?”
“Since when is there a massive line of trees outside our house?”
“... Well, nothing else ever makes sense... why should geography?”
As Kimi and Sama escaped, no ice beams followed them. The reason was because of the fourth wall's breaking – it had fallen right on top of Agent Vidit.
He was standing on their front lawn, utilizing the freeze beam from the robotic glove when suddenly the wall he had just iced-over broke apart like a bomb went off. The injured fourth wall would have crushed him – had he not held up his gloved hand and used the shield generator to make a small, round purple energy shield that was powerful enough to repel the wall.
“Those two are tricky...” Vidit muttered. “But I'll track them down later! I better search the K Tower for the stolen helmet!”
“Hahahahahahahah! Our evil scheme is going perfectly! Now, Super Kimi and Wonder Sama, I will destroy you!”
Darth CHoW laughed as his flansaber came down on Kimi's head. It knocked her back, but did not pierce the skin. Mainly because the skin was actually plastic – although some of the paint chipped off.
This CHoW, and Kimi too, were only a few inches tall. Towering above them was the real Darth CHoW, who was playing with the new SK&WS action figure line. On the other side of the room, Rowen was standing by the oven, holding a Wonder Sama figure against the burner watching his face melt.
“It's so much fun to watch the idiots break.” Rowen grinned.
“Yeah. Too bad these idiots aren't THE idiots.” CHoW sighed. “Still, for five-ninety-five, it is fun to destroy these things.”
“Just be careful, 'cause when the idiots start destroying back, it's major suckage – for you.”
CHoW blinked and looked to Rowen; who sweat dropped and was looking right past CHoW. The helmeted villain turned his head and saw the door to LASOOF's oversized kitchen standing open. The Cookie-Crisp Dog and Chester Cheeto were on the floor unconscious – Kimi and Sama stood above.
“... Why are you in our house?” CHoW asked.
“Shuddap!” Kimi shot forward and kicked CHoW in the head. He fell back onto the floor, dropping his CHoW action figure. Kimi scooped it up and squeezed it until the head fell off.
“Hey! That's five-ninety-five you owe me!” CHoW shouted; and he was hit again.
“I said shuddap!” Kimi growled again, grabbing CHoW by his collar and picking him up. “Who'd you send to kill us bucket-head?”
“... What?” CHoW blinked.
Rowen had watched all of this unfold for a few minutes, but now he had seen an opening. He grabbed his flansaber and jumped forward, activating the crimson blades and ready to bring down his blade on Kimi's head.
Sama's blue flansaber blocked Rowen's red one and a second later emerald lightning flashed over the flan-killer's body and sent him falling to the floor. Kimi nodded to Sama, and then she tossed CHoW up in the air and watched him fall down on the ground beside Rowen.
“GEEZ! We didn't even do anything today!” CHoW complained.
“Yeah, jerks! We were just killing your likenesses!” Rowen snapped.
“Come on, stop lying! Somebody froze our tower fifteen minutes ago – who was it? Did you get Mr. Freeze on your team? We discussed this before, ice does not count as a foodstuff!” Sama crossed his arms.
“Now talk!” Kimi demanded, putting a foot on CHoW's helmet. “Or we're going to play can-opener!”
“I already told you! We didn't do anything!” CHoW complained. He pushed Kimi off his head, knocking her back a bit and getting her foot away from crushing distance. “We've been here all day! Believe me, I'd love to freeze your house – but we're on spring break. No evil for another week.”
Kimi glanced at Sama. “I... I don't think he's lying.”
Sama sighed and nodded. “Yeah, it seems like he's telling the truth... which... I guess... means we probably shouldn't have busted in here and beaten them up...”
[...]
“Aaaahhhhh!”
Kimi and Sama were thrown down into a small creek bed near LASOOF's Foodstuff Forest headquarters. CHoW and Rowen stood at the top of the hill, shaking their heads and muttering.
“Those idiots! Messing with our stuff.” CHoW complained.
“... Isn't it weird that we never seem to beat them in a fight, and now, the one time we get the upper-hand, all we do is throw them into a ditch instead of killing them and taking over Teh City?” Rowen pondered.
“Spring Break! No evil for a week!” CHoW reiterated. Then he paused. “... Although, yeah, that probably would have been a good idea...”
The two stood, staring at one another for a moment in a 'oops' pause. Then, Rowen shrugged. “Let's go get some cinnamon rolls.”
“Well, so far today has turned out really craptastic.” Sama sighed as he brushed some dirty leaves off his coat.
“I don't get it...” Kimi paused, putting her hands behind her head and leaning back a bit. She was floating in mid-air, deep in thought. “If CHoW and Rowen didn't steal my stuff and try to freeze us, then who did?”
Sama blinked. “First of all, we'll find your stuff later. I'm pretty sure we talked about that already.”
Kimi shrugged and started to say something, when a sudden burst of super-sonic sound waves ripped through the murky creek they were in, tearing apart nearby rotten trees and slapping up mud onto Sama's pants.
He sighed. “Do you have to use your Sonic Scream while we're in the mud?”
“That wasn't me!” Kimi snapped.
“Super Kimi! Return the helmet, or I'll have to arrest you.”
The two crime-fighters exchanged glances at the sounding of the new voice. Then they turned their heads to the east where they saw a young man in a black-and-silver uniform standing not far away. He wore a high-tech glove that looked like the latest in weapon's technology.
“Say what now?” Kimi blinked.
“I won't ask you again; and I won't fire any more warning shots!” Vidit declared, holding up his cybernetic-gloved hand. “I don't want to destroy you, so just tell me where the helmet is!”
Kimi looked to Sama. “Did you steal that guy's hat?”
Sama shook his head. “No! I haven't stolen anything in ages!”
“Don't blame your crimes on a simpleton!” Vidit yelled angrily. “I saw the photos – you're the thief, and I want that helmet back – NOW!”
Kimi scratched the top of her head, looking puzzled. “What's this idiot talking about?”
“Enough,” Vidit shook his head. “I'm tired of playing games. You're done. If you don't want to do this the easy way, I'll take you down!”
Vidit raised his glove and it started to glow with a bright red light, almost like flames. Kimi cracked her knuckles and Sama drew and activated his green flansaber. It looked like a epic battle was about to ensue in the cramped creek.
Then, all at once, there was a bright explosion. Everyone paused as a thick white mist covered the area between the secret agent and the super duo. When that mist cleared, the man who stood there was none other than The Spoon.
“Hold it!” Spoony declared. “What's going on?”
“Out of the way!” Vidit shouted.
“Chill out, buddy. You're the agent of SAINT, right?” The Spoon asked. Vidit's eyes widened at the mention of his organization's name.
“How do you...”
“Because I'm the Mayor of Teh City, and the Leader of Rapid Island. Attacking me would be a big mistake. Not only would your boss be pretty upset... but I have some amazing powers. Like this!” The Spoon snapped his fingers and there was a flash of lightning.
Sama panicked. “'Taters! What did he do this time? Last time he used that flashy lightning, I wound up a illegal groom in Mexico.” He paused, not because of the reference to the pilot story, but because he had just noticed that he was suddenly standing on eye-level with the Spoon.
“Wait... did you shrink me?” Sama asked, scratching his head.
“No... WORSE!” He heard Kimi yell, and she sounded angry. He looked over to see her, but instead he saw Sama, which confused him, since he was Sama. Then he blinked and looked down in the creek floor, where a small pool of clear water showed him his reflection.
“CHANGE US BACK!” Kimi growled as he grabbed Spoony's collar.
“You know, with all the classic cartoon situations, I wondered if we'd ever get to the body-swapping thing.” Sama mused as he floated up into the air. This caused him to grin. “Heeey! I can fly! Sweet!”
Kimi narrowed her – well, Sama's – eyes at the Spoon. “Change us back right now or I'll mash your face like potatoes... OH SH--”
“Wheee!” Sama was enjoying flying.
“I references potatoes! His personality is contagious! CHANGE US BACK, NOW!” Kimi shook Spoony back and forth, making him very dizzy. He snapped quickly and returned the two to their rightful places.
Then he fell down. “I was just demonstrating my powers... urgh... I don't feel so good...” A very dizzy Spoon complained.
“Aww, flying was fun.” Sama sighed. “Hey Spoony, got anymore of that cake you used to give Kimi the power to fly?”
Spoony shook his head. “They don't bake it anymore. That cake was last baked during the Edo Period.”
Kimi blinked. “Wait... the cake I ate to get these powers... was from the Edo Period?”
Spoony nodded. “Yep! Baked in 1703 by a Shogun Magician!”
Kimi turned as green as her bandanna. “W-Where did you get cake from 1703!?”
The Spoon shrugged. “eBay.”
Sama paused for a moment, and then nodded knowingly. “Yeah, that's possible I guess.”
Kimi fell down this time. “N-Now I don't feel so good either...”
Agent Vidit had stood by and watched all of this for a few moments, mainly out of shock. Not just because of Spoony's body-swapping powers, or the revelation that the magic cake Kimi had used to gain her flying powers came from Feudal Japan. No, actually it was because watching the three of them interact, despite seeming incredibly weird, they didn't seem... evil.
He could not imagine that Kimi was the kind of person to attack a foreign military lab unprovoked. Nor could he envision her as being a depraved lunatic who would use the helmet for dark deeds. Once again, an uneasy feeling engulfed him. The entire case was suspicious.
Still, he knew that there was evidence pointing to her. His own gut feelings were not enough to override the evidence. While he did live by a moral code, and arresting her seemed wrong in his gut; he could not just blindly ignore the evidence or his orders.
“Look, Spoon. I don't have any reason to fight you – or the messy-haired kid. The fact is that we have evidence that Kimi stole a very important experiment from our lab earlier today – I saw her with my own eyes!” Vidit tried to explain as the three residents of Teh City turned to him.
The Spoon paused. He had not gotten to where he was in life by being tactless. “... I'm sure we could beat you in a fight, but I'm also sure it wouldn't help Kimi's name be cleared. I can't very well make enemies of the countries in the Mainland below our island... but I also can't sit idly by while our greatest defender is taken away to another land.”
Vidit waited as he said all of this. He understood, of course.
“... I have an idea,” The Spoon grinned. “You said you had 'evidence' that Kimi is the thief you're looking for... well, I have confidence that she isn't. Confidence enough that I propose this: A trial. We'll have a trial for Kimi. If you can convince a Judge that she's the thief, then she comes with you without a fight. If she is found 'Not Guilty', though, then you have to call your boss and tell them to leave her alone.”
Vidit hesitated. “I don't have that kind of authority!”
Spoony shook his head. “Then call your boss now. It's either the trial... or you can fight all three of us. A slim chance is better than no chance, right?”
Agent Vidit paused. “... Who would be the judge?”
The Spoon smirked. “It is MY city, after all.”
The Agent shook his head. “No way. You're biased.”
Spoony sweat dropped. “Um... well, you got me there.” Then he had one of those brilliant lightbulb moments. A grin crossed his lips. “But I know someone who would make a great judge! He's... err... been involved in the only other trial we've ever had in this series.”
Vidit raised an eyebrow. “Is he a friend of their's too?”
Spoony rubbed his neck. “Sorta... but he used to try to kill them, if that makes it better.”
The secret agent blinked. “Y-Yeah, okay. I'll talk to my boss...”
“Hello? Colonel? Yes, it's Vidit... we have a slight problem.” The voice of the young agent spoke through the speaker on the Colonel's desk.
“What problem?” The Colonel asked, and he was sweating bullets.
“The Spoon, sir. Leader of Rapid Island. He refuses to give up Kimi without problems... unless I can win a trial that proves her guilt. I think I should do it... if not, we could have a serious battle to contend with.” Vidit's voice explained over the phone lines.
The Colonel paused for a moment, and then said: “Fine, do it.” Then he clicked off the speaker and double-checked to make sure Vidit was off the line. That's when his swivel chair turned around and he was face to face with a tall man who wore all red, a red shirt, pants, a scarlet mask
and a crimson cape.
“You sure this is a good idea?” The Colonel asked.
“Relax – I've planned this trial from the very beginning.” The Man in the Crimson Cape replied happily. “There's enough forged evidence to prove Kimi guilty a hundred times over! As long as she winds up in the prison on the moon, then everything will be fine.”
The Colonel sighed. “All these lies... all the deception and manipulation of the system... Vidit asked me earlier if attacking Teh City's hero wouldn't create more chaos than it would prevent... if he knew about your plans...”
“He does not know about my plans, or even about me... does he?” The Man in the Crimson Cape asked, his voice suddenly serious.
“Of course not!” The Colonel quickly replied.
“Good.” The Man in the Crimson Cape seemed relieved. “Then it doesn't matter. Vidit is thinking of the present. Believe me, Colonel... Super Kimi cannot be allowed to continue her career as a crime fighter. If things are left unchecked, then... well, need I remind you of the consequences?”
The Colonel shook his head sadly. “Not at all. SAINT's primary goal is to stop the spread of evil and chaos... if what you say is indeed the truth, then... her imprisonment is the only way to prevent a level of chaos like none seen in the history of the world. I... I suppose that a few problems today are worth preventing the future you spoke of.”
The Man in the Crimson Cape nodded. “I'm glad you agree, Colonel. Now, I must be off.”
He walked towards the wall... and disappeared completely. Away from SAINT HQ and even out of the country it was located in. He was gone from the Lands Below Rapid Island, instead appearing in a very different place.
A desolate, deserted city, unlike any ever seen before. Buildings were crumbled and broken, the skies were red and the clouds black, and blood ran down the side of the road like a small river leading to a storm drain.
“... Hahah... a few simple tricks to gain trust, and it's amazing what I can get those idiots to do!” The Man in the Crimson Cape laughed. “Me? Prevent Chaos? Quite the opposite... when this trial is over, you can insure that the change we talked about comes to pass, can't you my little thief?”
He turned around and there, standing in the street, was a teenager with long, dark hair. She wore the stolen green-and-white jacket and emerald bandanna. In her arms, she held the equally-stolen helmet.
“Of course. Assuming Kimi is convicted.” The imposted Super Kimi replied.
“... Even if she is not, it won't matter. I still have the Lock. I... don't want to use it... but I am prepared to, if it is necessary.”
The imposted shrugged. “Lock sounds like a easier idea in the first place; but you're the boss.”
The Man in the Crimson Cape laughed. “How...
ironic to hear you say that.”
“OBJECTION!”
That yell came not from the courtroom, but from the living room. That is to say, the living room of a one mister Phazon. Resident of Teh City and long-time friend of The Spoon. (Except for the time he spent corrupted by Pepper, when he was actually the enemy of The Spoon.)
He was watching his DS Screen as the penultimate case of Phoenix Wright's career unfolded before him. He was on the edge of his seat, watching the dual screens. As he did, though, a new character appeared. One he had not seen before – at least not in these games.
“Phazon! I need a favor!” Spoony asked from the screen of the DS.
Phazon's eye twitched behind his glasses. “Not a good time. I haven't slept in three days. Get off the screen.”
The Spoon's image did disappear from the screen. Instead he appeared next to Phazon on the couch. “Kimi's in trouble.”
Phazon sighed. “Kimi IS trouble.”
Spoony paused. “Well... yeah, I guess that's true... but the point is, she's in deep this time! She could get killed!”
Phazon saved his game and reluctantly put away his DS. “Fine. You've got a minute to explain before I go back to my case.”
The Spoon sweat dropped. “Kimi's accused of stealing from a secret government lab from the world below our island. I convinced their agent to hold a trial, and since you're the only one here with any trial experience we want you to be the judge.”
Phazon took a long pause. “... Are you talking about when I was the defendant in a trial?”
“Yep.” Spoony nodded.
“... Can I play my DS during the trial?”
“No.”
“You suck.”
“I'm pretty sure this will make up some karma from that whole 'I was possessed by a evil can of soda' thing.”
“... Oh, alright. But only because I need to recharge the DS anyway.”
District Courthouse
Courtroom No. 4A gavel hit the desk, and dressed in a black robe, Phazon sat at the Judge's Bench. He looked somewhat irritated, mainly because he wasn't playing Trials and Tribulations.
“Alright, let's get this stuff over with. Where's the Prosecutor?” Judge Phazon asked.
A door opened and out walked Vidit. He looked cool, calm and collected – even if he was none of those things right now. He was worried. The way his boss spoke, and the odd circumstances that had been springing up for this entire mission... he had a feeling that whether this ended with the trial, or whether he had to take Kimi into custody using force; either way, something bad was going on.
“Prosecution is ready, your honor.” Vidit announced.
Judge Phazon yawned. “Cool, cool. Alright, how about the defense?”
A door opened on the other side of the room. There appeared two people standing there, the usual two who got into these crazy situations. Rather than pay attention to the court room, however, they were arguing – as usual.
“Why did we have to dress up like this again?” Kimi asked.
“It worked last time, didn't it?” Sama replied.
They appeared. Kimi was dressed in a blue magician's outfit, while Sama wore a red vest and green tie. Judge Phazon blinked a few times.
“... HEY! We're trying to get this stuff done real quick, you know? SO HURRY UP!” Phazon ordered, banging his gavel.
Sama sweat dropped. “S-Sorry...”
“The defense is ready, your honor!” Sama announced. Kimi groaned and hid beneath her magician's hat.
“This might not end well...”
Judge Phazon looked around the room. “Like I've said a bunch of times, I want to get this done with quick. So, Mr. Vidit... hurry up and explain what happened.”
“Your Honor. This is really, really simple. We have photos and video of Super Kimi stealing the helmet from my organization's lab. We also have a witness – me. So don't worry, we'll have this case closed in a few minutes.” Agent Vidit explained.
Judge Phazon nodded. “Great!” He glanced at Kimi and Sama. “I mean, boo! I mean... look, you two are great, but I'm on the
last case. You understand, right?”
Kimi and Sama exchanged glances, and then nodded. “Actually... yeah.” She admitted.
“But!” Sama added. “We have a witness that Kimi isn't the thief – which is ME! We were together all morning and she never had a chance to steal the helmet.”

Agent Vidit held a few sheets of paper in his hands. “Mr. Sama... this is the script for this episode, isn't it?”
Sama blinked. “Y-Yeah... looks like it.”
Agent Vidit flipped through the messy sheets of paper until he came to near the beginning. “This first bit with you two in it... it clearly implies that you had been reading manga all morning, and had only had limited, if any, interaction with Kimi. Is that correct?”
Sama sweat dropped. “Um... well, yeah, but--”
“Thank you.” Agent Vidit nodded. “Your Honor? A guilty verdict?”

Kimi shot up from her seat. “The script also talks about my stolen jacket and bandanna! I was looking for those!” She crossed her arms.
“Excuse me.” Suddenly the trial was interrupted. The wall itself had jumped down from where it stood and walked over to the bench, having grown arms, legs, eyes and a mouth. “Can I sue them for breaking me so damn much?”
Judge Phazon blinked. “You're...”
“The Fourth Wall, yeah.” The Wall replied. “So, can I sue? Because this is twice in one episode, and frankly, I'm getting really sick of it!”
Shaking his head, Phazon said: “I'm sorry... but I really want to get back to my game. So go back between the other walls and deal with Kimi and Sama later.”
The fourth wall muttered about unfairness because heading back into place. That distraction had given Sama time to think – and think he had. Slowly, the rusty gears in his mind were turning.
“Hey... wait a minute... isn't it possible that somebody stole Kimi's jacket and bandanna as part of a elaborate attempt to frame her for stealing the helmet so that Vidit would come here and destroy her?”

“Who would do something like that?” Agent Vidit demanded to know.

“Hello? We're super heroes! We have a bunch of enemies! CHoW and Rowen always try to get us into trouble!” Sama replied.

“But isn't it true that CHoW and Rowen are on Spring Break, and therefore not doing any evil for another week?” Vidit asked, raising an eyebrow.

“...”
Judge Phazon blinked once, then twice – and then he sighed. “Sama... you just objected.”
Sama nodded. “Yep.”
The eyes of the Judge narrowed intensely. “Well!? WHY did you objection?”
The sidekick-turned-attorney wiped the back of his neck. “Because his last statement was damaging to my case!”
Kimi hit him. Judge Phazon then threw his gavel at Sama's head, which drained a bit of his health bar. (All attorneys have health bars.) Phazon opened the top drawer of the Judge's Bench, where several new gavels were lined up like pencils. He grabbed a new one and sighed.
“Continue, Mr. Vidit.” Phazon announced.
“Thank you, your honor. Now, Mr. Sama has alleged that someone else could have committed this crime, using Kimi's spare jacket as a disguise. However... that is not possible.” Vidit revealed.
“Name several reasons why!” Sama demanded, pointing a finger.
Vidit smirked. “First of all, the thief broke in through a solid titanium wall using only her physical strength; and then broke out the same way! It would take super powers to do that!”

Sama shook his head. “Lots of people have super powers! Superman, Superdog, Aquaman...”

“Aquaman does not have super powers!” Vidit snapped back.

“He can talk to fish!” Sama replied angrily.

“That's not a super power! That's just stupid!” Vidit roared.
Sama paused. “Well... yeah...”
Vidit continued with his objection. “BESIDES, sure Superman and Superdog have similar powers... but the criminal was a woman! We have pictures! Unfortunately, you can't see her face because of her long hair... but if you'll notice, Super Kimi has long hair too!”
Sama coughed. “That proves nothing! All you've proven is that Kimi has super powers and is a long-haired girl. Just like the thief! Which... um... what was my point again?”
Kimi's fist connected with Sama's face. “You're not helping!”
Sama wiped the blood away on his tie and then attempted to regain his composure. “L-Look, that isn't enough evidence.”
Vidit shook his head, and then he leaned back. “You miss the point, Mr. Sama. I have evidence that the criminal was a long-haired girl with super powers, which as it happens is a description of Super Kimi – the only suspect! Plus the thief was wearing a identical jacket and bandanna.”
He crossed his arms. “Are you actually suggesting that there is someone else who happens to be a long-haired girl with super powers, who would want to steal the helmet from my organization and who, coincidentally, has access to the K Tower to steal Kimi's extra jacket and bandanna? Well? Does that describe a single person in all of this series?”
Sama allowed a pause. He had to think about this one. Then, from the corner of his eye, he noticed movement. When he looked, he saw that Kimi was shaking. It wasn't cold in here, and she didn't look nervous... which meant it had to be that she was so angry about something she was shaking with rage.
That is when the light bulb clicked inside Sama's mind. “Aww, Potatoes... please, please no...”
Kimi wrapped her hands around his throat. “Saaaaaaaaama. Remember when you made those spare keys for our Tower, for the Flan-I, and Spoony? Any chance you gave a spare key to anyone ELSE?”
Sama turned as white as a ghost. He was not liking his new theory of the crime. “Uhh... well... now that you mention it... and, see, I didn't tell you because I thought you'd get mad... but... ... ... I, er... gave a spare key to Hammah!”
There was a cricket chirping. Kimi fell over from the sweat drop. When she regained her composure, she grabbed Sama's face with her hand and looked like she might rip it off. “Did you give her a key to our Tower?”
“... I have no idea who you're talking ab—OUCH!” She had dug her nails into his face. “OKAY! OKAY! So, maybe she asked me if she could have a key, and I said 'no, Kimi will get mad', but then she took one anyway.”
Kimi picked Sama up... by the face... and then threw him across the room, causing him to crash into the Judge's Bench.
Agent Vidit watched all of this with confusion, shock and awe. Mostly confusion. “Would somebody explain what's going on here!?”
“Sure. I stole that stupid helmet, framed hungry-hungry-hero over here for it, and now that it's been exposed I have to destroy everybody in this room.”
The door had opened one more time. This time, the person who entered was the imposted Kimi. Now that she was actually visible in person and not on a grainy, colorless photograph, there were some more obvious differences. Chief among them was that while Kimi's hair was brown, the imposter's was black – like the smoke given off by a fire.
“Now that's
creative writing, idiot.” Blackfire sighed sarcastically. The fourth wall twitched a bit, but remembering what the Judge said earlier, did not leave his perch.
“You know, times like this make me question the long-term potential of our relationship.” Sama said as he picked himself off the ground and crossed his arms. A starbolt shot from her hand, hit him in the head, and knocked him back to the ground.
Kimi flew to the middle of the courtroom. “I'm a little confused... why would YOU frame me? You don't usually do much actual evil. Usually you're just annoying.”
Blackfire shrugged. “A job's a job. I'm getting one heck of a reward for framing you... or at least, I WOULD have. Now my chance of getting the loot just went down big-time – and the same is about to happen to you!”
It looked like a fight was going to break out; and that's exactly what happened. Blackfire flew towards Kimi with a punch aimed right at her jaw; but a sudden blast of a mysterious sound wave knocked Blackfire across the room and into a wall.
“Same trick I used in the creek,” Vidit smirked, holding up his cybernetic glove. He knew now that something really weird had happened. The thief was not Super Kimi, but the Colonel seemed convinced it was. He could not have guessed the sinister true mind behind the day's events. “You need some help?” He asked Kimi.
She huffed. “Whatever. But don't think that just 'cause you help me defeat her doesn't mean you don't owe me a apology when this is done!”
“Agreed.” Vidit nodded.
“Cake-flavored.”
Vidit blinked, taken aback. “Wait... what?”
By now, Sama had regained some consciousness. He shook his head and looked to Vidit. “Apologizing to Kimi means getting her a cake. Though, first we should probably stop my girlfriend from killing everybody.”
“Are... things always this weird?” Vidit asked, almost dreading the answer.
“Actually this is pretty tame for us.” Kimi replied behind her, without taking her eyes off her enemy, “You should have seen this crap with a Gnome – so crazy, I'm surprised we didn't all go insane!”
Vidit was only half paying attention. He had just noticed something. “Hold on... if you stole the helmet, where is it?”
Blackfire's lips curved into a thin smirk. “Already given it to my employer. Doubt you'll ever find it. Sucks, huh?”
“That's not nice! We talked about you being nicer to peopl-ka bibble!” Sama started to lecture, but was blasted by a second starbolt and sent flying clear across the room.
Kimi shook her head. “Enough chit chat! I've had a really annoying day; and you caused it all! Let's cut to the scene where I beat the crap out of ya!”
Blackfire flew forward; she too agreed it was time for action instead of talking. Unfortunately, she didn't communicate that with words – instead she kicked Kimi in the stomach and knocked her into the ceiling.
Vidit raised his high-tech glove and fired a Ice Beam, just as he had back at the K Tower. The glowing whitish-blue beam could have frozen Blackfire if it hit her – but she was quick and dodged it. The beam instead froze a large section of the ceiling, close to where Kimi had impacted.
The super hero spotted the ice and got an idea. She grabbed the edge of the slippery substance and dug her fingers in to stop it from slipping away from her. Ripping the ice off the ceiling, she hurled it like a disc at Blackfire.
The alien ex-princess blasted it to bits with a Starbolt, but in doing so she left herself open from behind. Vidit shot a purple wave of energy from his cybernetic glove which wrapped around her arms and waist, preventing her from hurling those nasty bolts of energy.
Kimi cracked her knuckles. “And now, the hurting begins!”
A few hours had passed since the incident at the courthouse and things were finally calming down. Blackfire had been taken into custody by Agent Vidit for stealing the helmet, but she refused to name who she had given it to and was promptly shipped off to a secluded prison on the moon.
Judge Phazon had handed down a 'not guilty' verdict without much prompting and then had hurried home to finish Trials and Tribulations – this time asking Ema and Rikku to watch the doors and keep any silverware-themed Flan-I away.
The secret agent who had come so far to recover the stolen technology, Vidit Light, had caught the thief. Unfortunately, even with Blackfire in jail, her employer remained unknown – the same was true for the helmet's ware abouts.
“So that's the story, Colonel.” Vidit spoke into his phone. “I'm officially out of leads on the case.”
The Colonel's voice eventually drifted back over the speaker. “Well, until you find that helmet, you are to remain in Teh City, investigating! Understood?”
Vidit sighed. “Y-Yes sir...”
Meanwhile, our heroes find themselves on the balcony of the K Tower, sitting in fancy chairs as the sun sets. Sama once again has his face buried in his Trigun manga, while Kimi is playing her own DS – inspired perhaps by the judge.
“What a day.” Kimi sighed.
“Yep.” Sama agreed.
“We had our house frozen... we got beat up by CHoW and Rowen... and your girlfriend almost got me sent to jail.” Kimi recapped.
“Yep.” Sama replied, once again, no change in his voice or tone.
“... You're completely engulfed in the manga and not paying attention to me, aren't you?”
“Yep.”
...
“KA BIBBLE! Whaaaaaaat? Kimi-chan, do you have to hit so hard? My room is all soggy from when the ice melted, my girlfriend's going to be in jail for a long, long time – and I'm allergic to dust!”
Kimi blinked. “What, if anything, does that last thing have to do with today's episode?”
“Whenever the fourth wall falls down, it kicks up a lot of dust.” Sama explained.
“Ahh. Then it does fit.”
“Yep.”
“... Don't start that again!”
Okay, so originally Vidit's intro was supposed to come in a side-story to Kimi & Sama's quest for a Wii – which was supposed to be posted before Brawl's release. Unfortunately, I'm lazy and it didn't get written quickly enough. Also, the organization Vidit work's for is called “SAINT” -- which is a anagram of some kind, but I forgot exactly what it was, so I didn't explain it in detail. >_< I'm lazy and forgetful!
In order to get both stories – Vidit's intro and the Tokyo Trip – written as quickly as possible, they have been separated. Both storylines can stand on their own anyway, so that's what was done here. Now Vidit officially has a SK&WS character, as I had promised him some time ago, and as soon as I finish those requests from DA, I can resume the storyline with Kimi and Sama in Japan.
Also, Vidit updated the old “Chris Versus Antoine”, so go read that too. Seriously! You gotta! It's not optional! If you don't, it's rubber fish time!
Also, also: If you haven't, sign up for “Subspace Emissary”, because that RP will be starting very, very soon.
Also x3: And yes, once again I spoofed the Ace Attorney series. ^^ It's fun to do! And no, it is not related to DP's Ace Attorney request. That's something totally different. I just wanted to do a updated spoof since the “new” take on the series.
