Title: Soul Eater
Description: 99 souls and the soul of a witch

Kimiko - April 17, 2008 11:12 PM (GMT)
This anime just started (I think ealier this week or late last week), and it's pretty great, so far. Here's the first part of the first episode on YouTube

In Soul Eater, we follow a Shinigami Weapons Technician, Maka, and her weapon Soul Eater. Soul Eater takes the form of a human most of the time, but transforms into a large sythe that Maka uses in battle.

They fight (basically) a small-scale version of BLEACH's Hollows (so far we've only seen Jack the Ripper, who is just a little larger than Maka herself). Wandering and evil souls that kill and eat the souls of humans for power. Soul Eater must (get this) eat souls-- 99 souls, in fact. 99 souls of regular wanderers, as well as the soul of a witch, the 100th soul. At that point, a Shinigami weapon becomes a Death Sythe (while only the first episode has aired, I can imagine this is just a bigger and more powerful version).

There are other characters that haven't been explored in the aime yet, such as Shinigami-sama, Maka's dad, Black Star (and his own Shinigami Weapon), Death the Kid, and so on and so forth.

This anime gets the Kimiko Stamp of Approval! I highly reccomend it-- the animation is incredible, for one. Just watch it, alright? 8D

Cool stuff! And it's by Bones, which has already made some pretty cool looking anime programs, previously. Looks like (once I get through the rest of code geass's first season :heh: ) I'll have something new to start following this season!

Shinigami sure are popular lately, eh? XD

Anywho... I think you guys might want to check out the Anime Theater Zone. ;)

To this, I respond in song. XD

:o Spoony, I continue to be your #1 fangirl.

Also: DP is right about Bones's credibility in the anime-making department: they also animated Eureka Seven! ;P

GoldenSama - April 18, 2008 05:29 AM (GMT)
Shinigami? Bones? This sounds pretty cool! I'll have to check it out. ^^

BlueRush - April 18, 2008 05:45 AM (GMT)
The studio that made FMA? Cool. I might read the manga sometime.

On the serious tip, bro.

It's kind of like xxxholic + Nightmare Before Christmas feel. XD Plus the sun and moon are always mocking the characters.

Ferserious-- this series is amazing. I can't wait for episode three where Death the Kid enters. He's already my favorite.

Also: I'm still in awe over how Spoony added Soul Eater to the Theatre Zone. It's been, like 24 hours, too. STILL in AWE. =D x over 9000.

Dayum. Forgot to read that post.

But hey, it was 6AM. Cut me some slack, yo.

GoldenSama - April 19, 2008 05:53 AM (GMT)
Well, I haven't even watched this yet, buuuuuuuuuut....

If you wanna check out the manga!

Clown Prince of Crime - April 20, 2008 02:07 AM (GMT)
Well, I didn't have anywhere to go today, so I was finally able to watch this. :)

It's friggen' awesome!

Although Jack the Ripper did look a little bit like a Hollow, Al Capone looked pretty normal and, from what I can see of the preview for episode 3, Arsène Lupin looks like a normal human, too.

I will admit that this show has a very Bleach-esque vibe to it... if Bleach were more like Gurren Lagann with just a dash of...

Yes! Exactly!

Well, we'll see Death the Kid in episode 3. Episode 2 featured Black Star, though. And I must say, Black Star and Tsubaki are my favorite characters at the moment! Especially the way that Black Star acts and the dynamics between the two of them.

No doubt, that's fo sho, son!

Kimiko - April 20, 2008 02:15 AM (GMT)
In my defense: All of that was posted before I saw episode 2 and the preview to episode 3. :heh: I love how the creator (this was in the manga, as well) named the master theif Lupin. XD I wonder if it was intentional.

And isn't it awesome? It is!

Black Star kind of annoyed me at first, but as the episode went on, he started to remind me of Part I Naruto. XP I really like Death the Kid (I read his part in the manga a few hours ago), but it's a toss up between him and Soul Eater himself.

Also: If you watch the opening theme again, you might notice that Stein's (the evil scientist) evil smile is JUST like that one guy from FMA... I think it was the guy who tried to chop up Winry. I can't remember, though. XD But I totally saw BONES's previous projects come out (not to mention the voice actor for Death the Kid is the same as Moondoggie from Eureka 7).

Well, actually, it's not a coincidence, but there's more to it than you might think. I'm guessing that you're thinking about Lupin III in what you're saying, but I think they're going more by the traditional Lupin since so far all the characters seem to be historical figures. In literature, (loooooong before there was the manga/anime Lupin III) there actually was a character in French novels named Arsène Lupin who was a master thief. Lupin III is supposed to be that guy's grandson.

I believe you're talking about Barry the Chopper. Hmmm... I haven't noticed that, but I'll have to go back and look again.

Clown Prince of Crime - April 26, 2008 01:37 AM (GMT)
Just saw episode 3 (and you can, too! ;)) not too long ago.

Heh, Death the Kid has a serious case of OCD! XD

Because I found this pic too awesome to keep to myself and my sig, as well as to inspire CPoC to post episode 6 (and maybe 7, as well, as that's probably going to get released tonight or soon thereafter)...

1) That is a cool picture.

2) I'm a procrastinator. I don't have episode 7 yet, but I've had episode 6 for a few days now and have just forgotten to upload it. :heh: I'll get right on it! It should be up sometime tonight!

Dark Phazon - May 23, 2008 05:22 AM (GMT)
For the subbing group I have been following (AEN), 7 isn't out yet, though if they follow the same schedule as they have been, it should possibly be coming overnight or tommorow at some point.

Now, this group does have 7 out... But, I cannot assure anything about the quality of this sub, as I just learned of this group literally a couple hours ago, and haven't seen any of that group's work yet. File size is pretty huge, though...

It also seems Rumbel Subs is doing the Late-Night version, which is interesting, though also puts them on a later schedule (as the Late Edition airs Thursdays, I believe, in Japan, compared to Mondays for the standard-edition).

Clown Prince of Crime - May 23, 2008 05:29 AM (GMT)
I've been getting the Rumbel and AEN ones (I've been a little random on just which one I pick), but I have not tried any other subbing group besides those two.

Btw, episode 6 is up and running!

Oh, and do you have any rare pics of Tsubaki? :D

Though, considering how new Soul Eater is, I imagine there probably isn't very many Soul Eater pics out there just yet.

Yeah I have some Tsubaki pics. I'll get some up tommorow-or-so (they're on my other flash drive, and after I make this post, I'm pretty much getting ready to sleep, so yeah  )

EDIT: First one's a magazine/similar page with official art (not fanart), but I put it up anyway.

Wow, that's more than I thought existed at the moment! o.o Thanks a lot, DP! And I don't mind official art. Actually, I like it! Especially when the artwork is so great!

Anywho, there's a little bit of a delay in getting the next episode up because I'm being a total lazy jackass. I'll try to see what I can about it on Monday. I might update with two episodes rather than one, though, so it'll be worth waiting for, right? ^_^;

Theloveyoumakeistheloveyoutake - June 9, 2008 01:24 AM (GMT)
Too many shinigami shows why don't they make one about angels or something.

Clown Prince of Crime - June 9, 2008 05:28 AM (GMT)
Technically, these shows are about angels... just, angels of death. XD

Though, on that note, I wouldn't mind seeing a Kid Icarus anime. :D

But, ya, this show is really good. Shinigami seem to be the "in" thing right now, but all three of the shows I've seen that involve grim reapers have been pretty good (Death Note being my favorite, though also being the most different as it's not an action show).

And Rumbel hasn't released episode 8, yet. :( I'm not sure about AEN, though... but I'd prefer Rumbel, since I've noticed sometimes AEN's subs are a little... Engrish-y.

Probably a little late to notice that, since most of the episodes I've uploaded so far have been AEN. :heh:

EDIT: Bah, screw it. I'll just upload what I have to work with. I hope that's okay for everyone. I also found episodes 8 and 9, but they're subbed by someone completely different.

Theloveyoumakeistheloveyoutake - June 9, 2008 05:45 AM (GMT)
I don't have the time or the posts to get into the anime theater so can someone please pm them to me?

Clown Prince of Crime - June 9, 2008 06:00 AM (GMT)
Patience is a virtue. ;)

Don't worry, you're over halfway there already and you're still relatively new. It won't be much longer until you've reached the necessary post count. But I'm afraid we can't make exceptions on the password policy.

Dark Phazon - June 9, 2008 06:39 AM (GMT)
8 is out by AEN and Tadashi. 9 is out by Tadashi, as well as gg (which was pretty good with at least the first 10 episodes of Code Geass, which is all I know them by; though I tend to find .mkv files quite annoying). And if gg is officially picking up the series, then they'll likely have 10 out by Monday evening or Tuesday (considering they got episode 9 out the day it aired in Japan).

and yeah, AEN is kinda touchy on the english-front occasionally (though their Soul Eater subs are about a thousand times better than what I see from at least one of their top people running their forums  ). Tadashi isn't flashy, though they use some more japanese-phonetic spellings for some characters' names (like calling Chrona "Krona"). I haven't really seen much else, though, that's all that bad about them, however (other than huge filesizes at least 100MB larger than the AEN ones, which are also HD .mp4's) I have no clue about gg, though for Code Geass, they did have two separate subtitle options packaged within most of their episodes (one using the correct character names, and another using what they originally thought the characters' names were for the first few episodes, before official romanji spellings were known),.

Oh, and I have a few more Tsubaki pics to post, which I'll probably do at some point tomorrow.

Clown Prince of Crime - June 9, 2008 07:11 AM (GMT)
So, you have no problems with Tadashi, then? That's good to know, as those are what I have for 8 and 9. :heh:

They might take a while to upload though, as ,you mentioned, they are considerably large. ^_^;

Also looking forward to those new pics! :)

Soul Eater? Is this a post about Tails Doll?
...Please don't hurt me. :heh: But seriously, it seems intresting. I might check it out.

Clown Prince of Crime - July 2, 2008 12:05 AM (GMT)
Nope, it's not about Tails Doll. But it IS about an awesome show.

x_X I'm... thinking about maybe looking into getting a second stream host, because the one I'm using now isn't always reliable. It just doesn't want to convert episode 10, for some reason. u_u;

So, ya, that's why I haven't updated the Soul Eater video thread. Actually, I tried to, but... ya, I've been having a bit of a problem actually being able to do that.

If I could find another stream host that, just like the one I'm using right now, allows me to upload videos of any length AND allows other people to view my embedded videos even if they're set to private, then we'll be in business!

But, ya, I would like to apologize for the recent lack of Soul Eater episodes here at the SRB. ^_^;

Theloveyoumakeistheloveyoutake - July 2, 2008 01:16 AM (GMT)
So thats why I have not gotten my daily dose of soul eating shape shifting action.

Clown Prince of Crime - July 2, 2008 09:39 AM (GMT)
Hmmm, well, it seems whatever fluke was causing episode 10 to not convert has now been lifted, as it, as well as some other videos I've long ago uploaded, has finally converted. Imagine that.

So, sometime tomorrow I'll try to post episode 10. Sorry for the lateness.

Theloveyoumakeistheloveyoutake - July 2, 2008 03:32 PM (GMT)
Sweet...I've already seen episode 10 so now I gotta wait even longer. T.T
