Title: Your Top 10 OPs and EDs?

Clown Prince of Crime - May 12, 2008 06:00 AM (GMT)
Granted, you guys might not have the luxury of being able to use HTML in your posts like me, but you can still provide links. :D

Your top 10 lists can have any number of OPs and EDs mixed in, so long as the total number of songs equal 10. If you want them in a certain order, like most top 10 lists, you can do so, however my list is NOT in any particular order, so you don't have to make your lists that way unless you want to.

So, in no particular order, here's my top 10 anime theme songs.

Slayers - Get Along (OP)

Clown Prince of Crime - May 12, 2008 07:56 AM (GMT)
Ah, yes, Cowboy Bebop really had some great Jazz music. The OP and ED for Cowboy Bebop not only had awesome music but also great visuals (and I find a good mix of good music with good visuals to be a fantastic treat for the senses).

BlueRush - May 12, 2008 03:27 PM (GMT)
I don't know what you mean by OP/ED unless you mean you want my opinion, and I definitely don't have 10 animes that I've watched, but I'd like to throw my hat in the ring for...

1. Rewrite - FullMetal Alchemist (ED & AL)

...which is the most rockingest FMA song ever.

Crystal Rose - May 12, 2008 04:12 PM (GMT)
OP stands for Opening
ED stands for Ending

:3

Dark Phazon - May 12, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
Hmm... There's a couple of ways you can take this question... You can go with it based solely on the music, or with the music and animation together... For this list, I'm going with the latter, so these will be my (as of this current date), ten favorite openings/endings based on how awesome the animation and music are. (I may eventually throw up a top 10 OP/ED list based solely on the music, at a future point in time  )

It makes me very sad that I couldn't fit the "Doubt & Trust" opening for D.Gray-man (DGM's third opening), Cowboy Bebop's "Tank" (posted in CR's list), and/or Eureka seveN's "Shounen Heart" opening (E7's second opening) into this list... Well anyway, on with the top 10, in reverse order:

10.) Fullmetal Alchemist -- ED2: Yellow Generation - "Tobira no Mukou e"
---- This ending I think is even better during the episodes where the music starts over the end of an episode's final scene, before the full animation of the ending starts.

9.) Blood+ -- OP3: UVERworld - "Colors of the Heart"

8.) Code Geass R2 -- OP1 Version 1: Orange Range - "O2"
---- There isn't a second version of this opening yet, but if they do R2 like the first season, there will be a rearranged opening animation coming in a couple weeks.

7.) Trigun -- OP: Tsuneo Imahori - "H.T."

6.) Hellsing -- OP: Yasushi Ishii - "Logos Naki World"
---- I love love love that piano part that goes through the song.

5.) The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya -- ED: Aya Hirano, Minori Chihara, Yuko Goto - "Hare Hare Yukai"
---- I like TMoHS's opening song more, but the dance gets this on my list.

4.) Bleach -- OP6: Aqua Timez - "Alones" (original mix version)
---- For the last few weeks before the 7th opening was to start, as well as when this song's single was to be released, they changed the song such that it reflected the single version more than the mix of that song that was originally in the opening (the original-mix version sounds much fuller than the single-mix version).

3.) Death Note -- OP1: Nitemare - "the WORLD"

2.) Neon Genesis Evangelion -- OP: Yoko Takahashi - "Zankoku na Tenshi no Teize"

1.) Black Cat -- OP Version 1: Yorico - "Daia no Hana"
---- There's a second version of this opening for the second half of the series, which uses some slightly different animations, but I prefer the version used in the first 12 episodes much more.

Avenger29 - May 12, 2008 10:53 PM (GMT)
Mmm... Lets see what I can dig up, here.

Well, my undisputed favorite would be this one.
"We Were Angels" by Hironobu Kageyama, from the final part of DBZ. I'd like to think the reasons are obvious, but even aside from the extreme Gohan-centricness of it, the music is awesome. Definitely "Mr. DBZ"'s best work.

Next up would be "Y'Know" by Akira Sudou, from Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040. Very high-energy. Fits in line with the show's style. One of the more memorable songs from my anime-watching experiences.

For this next one... Well, I'm honestly not kidding. If not for the fact that it's the only english-language Dragonball rap song to be recorded, before I do my Gohan anthem, then for its insane comic value. Of course, I'm talking about the abysmal "Step Into The Grand Tour", by Mark Menza, from Dragonball GT. "So bad, it's good" is what I say about this one.

Thats all I got for now, though.

Dark Phazon - May 12, 2008 11:51 PM (GMT)
Yeah... I can safely agree with you on that third one being horrid, though I must differ on how its horrible-ness makes it good. But maybe I just missed the funny-horrible part because I couldn't stand it anymore and closed the tab after about 20 seconds of it playing...

...

Also, something I was wondering about... Am I the only one who doesn't partiularly prefer textless versions of openings/endings, in comparison to the original broadcast ones that contain all the credits? Most of the time, to me, the opening/ending looks too empty without the text, due to how they were created to have room for the credits, and I'd rather watch the fully credited version.

10. Lum no Love Song - Urusei Yatsura OP 1
I always check out the opening of an anime before I start watching it (especially if I don't read the manga), and this opening really made me wanna watch Urusei Yatsura.

9. Sakura Kiss - Ouran High School Host Club OP 1
The BONES studio really knows how to make an opening!

8. Shounen Heart - Eureka Seven OP 2
BONES once again! This opening also includes Charles and Ray Beams-- my favorite now-dead characters in E7.

7. Himawari - Power Puff Girls Z OP 4
Love the song (incidently the same band made another song in this list) and Bubbles is just so cute. @_@

6. That Blue, Blue Sky - Naruto Shippuden OP 3
Sakura wasn't in this opening enough, but the amount of Sasuke-ness makes up for that, I think. I wish they'd replace the movie characters with some more characters from the show, though (Team 8, perhaps?). But this is my favorite Shippuden Opening so far)

5. Bouken Desho Desho? - The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya OP 1
Just a great opening. I really love the chorus part where Haruhi is running and all of the other characters float by-- it basically gives you the feeling of the whole show.

4. Resonance - Soul Eater OP 1 (which I can't find anywhere D: )
BONES = win. Just a cool song and an equally cool show. It even included Soul changing into a scythe twice. Plus Death the Kidd was pretty cool toward the end. This opening just blew me away.

3. Pinocchio - Naruto ED 9
Go Naruto! XD I love the dance in this. Naruto finally gets a little more spotlight -- in the fillers he seems to get shut out. XD He's the main character! Ferserious.

2. Yura Yura - Naruto OP 9
I LOVE when the an opening takes the characters out of their element by putting them in a normal setting with normal clothes just doing pretty normal things-- like Naruto practicing martial arts or the other boys in the show just standing around together.

1. Rolling Star - Bleach OP 5
Same reason I love Yura Yura-- but this opening ALSO includes stuff from the actual show, including a short Ichigo vs Hallow!Ichigo. Great song (I have like, 7 YUI songs on my iPod XD ) and... just cool!

I tried to include ones that haven't been mentioned much yet, which is why Hare Hare Yukai and other BLEACH openings aren't on there.

---- This ending I think is even better during the episodes where the music starts over the end of an episode's final scene, before the full animation of the ending starts.

I get what you're sayin'. It's especially effective when the last scene in an episode is an especially dramatic one. That little part at the beginning really adds something to it! Whenever I hear this song, the start always makes me picture a dramatic scene and sometimes I'll find myself screaming something like, "Al...? Al?! AAAAAAAAAL!!!!!!!!" [/Mei Ling]

Oh my... it's the Funi DBGT theme! I'm sorry, but I think it's so bad it went past good and landed right back on bad again! I'll admit that the beat is a little bit catchy in some parts of the song, but everything else about it (especially the lyrics) leaves a pretty bad taste in my mouth. ^_^;

With me it really depends on the song. I've noticed that not all OPs or EDs do what you described, so generally I just go for whatever happens to look better for me, personally.

I always check out the opening of an anime before I start watching it (especially if I don't read the manga), and this opening really made me wanna watch Urusei Yatsura.

It is a rather unique opening, isn't it? Or... at least it was before Rizelmine totally ripped it off, anyway.

Wow... O_O Ya know, I've never seen this show before (though I've obviously heard of it), but man... that's... that's just AMAZING animation there!

Oh, you mean this one? :p

AGodofIrony - May 14, 2008 06:09 AM (GMT)
Doesn't have to be all anime, right?

They're all openings, and chosen because I either really like the music, the video with it, the memories they bring up, or a combination of those.

They're in no particular order as well.

While not exactly an anime opening, this is one of the best openings I've ever seen to anything. That opening, you ask? "SURV1V3" by Jonathan Underdown, from Gran Turismo 5. What an incredible song! Can you say "Avenger's (both real and SK&WS) new theme song"?
