Title: Sonic 2 HD
tinmanti - May 31, 2008 04:13 PM (GMT)
Okay, I was just searching around on the internet and I stumbled across this...
http://savygamer.blogspot.com/2008/04/soni...ake-on-way.htmlI know it's a fan game but seriously, this looks amazing. Sonic 2 was one of the best sonic games out there, and a HD remake will be even better.
I also found this as well. Much more detailed.
http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?showforum=42(hey, is it okay for me to post this link?)
Thought? I know I'm excited though =D

Ah, yes. I've actually known about this for quite some time now. I've always thought it was an interesting project with amazing looking sprites. I do hope this project is seen through to the end. :)

I'm pretty sure that the blogging entry has an incorrect link to the supposed "soundtrack" for that game, which is both full of crappy MIDI-rip-ish junk, and isn't what is actually being used for that game (some OCR mixers are involved with some of what will be the true soundtrack, and all the real stuff that'll be used is in some thread on some forum, if my memory from the OCR thread is correct).
So if that blog thing links to some page instead of a forum thread for the soundtrack, pay no attention to the music there.

Sweet mother. This is gonna be a rom, right?

I'm pretty sure it isn't going to be a ROM-hack. Considering how they're doing graphics and music, it'll probably be a separate stand-alone sort of program (if they made it a Genesis ROM, it'd probably blow up the emulator  ).

Have you found the actual music site yet? I'd really like to hear what they're coming up with, especially with the awesomeness known as the CPZ.

forum topic,
Lots of WIPs and what-have-you in there, beyond the opening post.

Now
that's what I call "blast processing"! XD
But, ya, seriously, there's no way a Genesis could handle HD sprites. The whole thing about HD sprites is that they're really, REALLY big sprites (because they're drawn in a much higher resolution).
I'll take an example that someone else came up with in regards to the awesometastic inspiration behind Sonic 2 HD: Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD!

As you can see, an HD sprite is too big for a Genesis to handle. :p

So far... I can only find one that I like out of all of em. (The Metropolis one with the guitar in it.)
Hopefully, they'll have it to where you can switch out the music files, so I can put Hedgehog Heaven in there instead.

That thread also does not have all the stuff that's going to be in it. I know for sure that DarkeSword from OCR is adapting his Special Stage mix for that, and I believe Jose the Bronx Rican is possibly also making some stuff for it, too (though for him, what I'm remembering might actually be for some other music project somewhere on OCR, because my memory about all the different projects I've seen on OCR lately seems to be getting jumbled up :heh: ). And I think that's mostly WIP stuff or a list that's a work-in-progress (as in, that may not all be official stuff that's going in there, either).
Also, you fail for not liking Kaijin's new version of Bluest Sky. :p
Also also, speaking of SF2 HD... If any of you didn't know already, adaptations of Blood on the Asphalt songs (and maybe other old or new tracks from OCR mixers) are very likely going to be part of the soundtrack of that game (I don't know if it's been officially announced yet or not, but it's known at least on OCR that some mixers from that project are working on mixes for SF2 HD).

Jose's doing something? Well, this might turn out to be awesome after all. (Seriously. His Vega remix his awesome, and with "Unknown From M.C.", he took a really crappy song and made it brilliant.)
And I still have to go with the original "Bluest Sky", although my favorite right now is Sir_Nuts' remix, with the name that escapes me right now...

E-guitar bias!!! >=p
As a person who used to play the saxaphone, I can say I like the much more authentic sax sound of the new one a lot more, compared to the not-the-greatest sax samples in the original Bluest Sky. Plus the new one's longer. :p
Though yes, "High Above the Sky" was one of the stronger mixes in Hedgehog Heaven (which is an underrated project, actually; everyone always says it stinks, but it really does have a whole lot of really good stuff, plus an appropriately named "DCT" doing the ending theme; in my mind, it only really has two or so weak tracks in my mind, Sonikku Ganbattle and Fortress of Glory)

I actually talked to DCT once, although not about that mix. I had actually sent him a message about how awesome "Memories Frozen In Time" was. Seriously, if you don't have that track, get it now. It is amazing.
But, back on that topic, I loved Hedgehog Heaven. "Emerald Nights" is one of my favorite remixes ever, honestly. "Next My Generation" is awesome as well. I like it better than Project Chaos, as it has far more variety in the tracks.
Thats not to say PC was bad, mind you. I loved the work on it, especially "Walk On Water", "Before The Storm", and anything Kanjika touched, but alot of it was just the same style. Either power-rock or a piano solo. HH had so much more variety, which gives it the edge.
Plus, they didn't use alot of the "preview" tracks from the teaser site, which made me mad. Lucky for me, I managed to snag em beforehand.
tinmanti - June 2, 2008 08:16 PM (GMT)
Okay, I will agree with you all that Hedgehog Heaven was great. I hope DST does do some work on this game.
So, if this ain't gonna be a MegaDrive rom, what will it be?
Anyways, to be honest, I'm liking the music line up so far. I'm think this is gonna be great already. ^_^

If they do Realse sonic HD it will be for PS3 & XBOX360 Only because thoes 2 system are the only ones can hadle the HD Quality sprites.
PS2 - The Quality on this System cannot hadle the HD Sprites
PS3 - This System is made for this type of thing HD Quality. Best system for it because Blu-Ray.
X-Box 360 - It Can do Direct Download of this game but rember that X-box 360 only got HD DVD player not Blu-Ray.
DS - Not even a change don't even think about it.
PSP - Better of a change then DS PSP is like PS2 System but little bit better.
Wii - It won't work unless they upgrade there motherboards to HD Quality.
Here good Example true Fact
Why is Street Fighter 2 HD only coming to PS3 & Xbox360?
The Wii cannot handle HD Sprites & even Nintendo Said SO. Which I like what Sony did on there system. back to the subject All other system but PS3 & X-Box 360 cannot hadle HD Support true fact.
If you think they will make a emulator for this game you are wrong.
Mega Man 9
Yes the sprites look like a NES Games but think about this. How come this game isn't a ROM Hack or not even on a NES Game. It looks like it can fit in the NES System.
Well they made this game like it did on purpose so they can make the old Mega Man Style back. To be honest I like the old style. Mega Man 9 came on ps3, xbox, wii This game can go on the Wii because it's not useing any HD Sprites what so ever. More like NES Sprites but little bit better I would Call it
Nintendo Ultra Entertainment System know as (NUES)
Well I hope this kind of information help you see ya around :Sonic: Oh if anyone finds more information on Sonic HD Post here I really like more information on this game & I hope someday may be Summer 09 they will Relase it on X-box360 & PS3 System.

I don't feel like getting into everything else in that post, but I think you missed the part where it said that this was to be a fanmade game, and not an official project of Sega's (or any other developers on the behalf of Sega). :heh:
Clown Prince of Crime - October 16, 2008 09:43 PM (GMT)
Hmmm... rather than try decipher most of that, I'll post a short video. No offense, DBOZGT, but I have to post this in response to the majority of your post:
[dohtml]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HewCT_Xqu_k&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HewCT_Xqu_k&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/dohtml]
And Mega Man 9, while it may look, sound, and feel like an NES game... could not fit on an NES cartridge. It'd have to have been programmed using ASM, which it wasn't. It's not REALLY 8-bit, it's just made to look that way. In fact, the programmers had to keep going back and redoing things because some stuff kept looking "too advanced" to be believably 8-bit. Even in the finished product they have smooth transitions between screens, which obviously isn't possible on the NES.
Everything else... I'd try to reply to, but... well, refer to the above video. ^_^; *cough*
