Title: What skin do you use?
Description: tell me already, why haven't you yet

BR - July 11, 2008 04:07 AM (GMT)
PLEASE tell me. I need to know. EVERYONE tell me. Post here so's I know. :) Thanks.

We won't lose any banners. We may lose or modify skins.

Gracias.

GoldenSama - July 11, 2008 04:23 AM (GMT)
I almost always use "Atokata Mo Skinu", but I also sometimes use the SOS Brigade HQ, Teh City and Those Obnoxious Aliens.

Crystal Rose - July 11, 2008 04:42 AM (GMT)
I use Dreadlocks since it's the easiest for me to see :D

Kimiko - July 11, 2008 04:48 AM (GMT)
I ususally use SOS, but I'm sometimes swich to Obnoxious Aliens.

The Vidit of Light - July 11, 2008 05:18 AM (GMT)
SRB 2.1. The various buttons seem made for it, and it looks nice to me.

Avenger29 - July 11, 2008 05:38 AM (GMT)
DBZRB, because I'm an arrogant bastard.

Dark Phazon - July 11, 2008 05:45 AM (GMT)
I use the Old School skin most of the time, and the Haruhi one (SOS Brigade HQ / Deep Waters) sometimes. Mostly because those two are the easiest for me to read stuff on, color-wise (and aren't the bright white of the default skin  )

Clown Prince of Crime - July 11, 2008 08:30 AM (GMT)
Those Obnoxious Aliens, because I'm an arrogant bastard. XD

Though every once in a while I like to use any one of the others just to spice things up a little.

Tazzy Porqupine - July 11, 2008 11:14 AM (GMT)
I use Atokata Mo Skinu, but I sometimes switch to SRB 2.1 for a little while (like now).

ChaosHalberd750 - July 11, 2008 02:28 PM (GMT)
SRB 2.1, most of the time.

BR - July 12, 2008 06:32 AM (GMT)
OH YEAH SO

I have long since stopped being an idiot and figured out how to do borders with CSS... though I'm not 100% certain that it'll work in this case, I'm about 70% certain that if I get off my lazy and do a little work, I could get it to work.

Bottom line: the checkerboard can change with the skin if we want it to, probably. Any interest in that?

I don't think there's any need to change the checkerboard, unless it's the Those Obnoxious Alien skin (with the stars). =/

woaah apparently we could do that already? Did I do that?

Ignore me then D: I am just crazy.

Either way, this skin is majorly psychedelic. XD

CPoC actually did that, 'cause he made that entire skin.

Sammy-Star - July 12, 2008 07:21 AM (GMT)
I usually use Atokata Mo Skinu/Two in one. I like the banner and it's really easy for my retarded eyes to see. XD

Um, let's try to avoid the word "retarded"-- people find it offensive, sometimes. :hs: ---Kimi

Clown Prince of Crime - July 12, 2008 08:12 AM (GMT)
I never did get around to making that FMA skin I wanted to do (mostly cuz I'm lazy). Yes, we can indeed change the checkerboard borders, BR. It's not that hard at all. :p If I had made that FMA skin, I would have had gears for the border.

Maybe some Dragonballs in the back of my skin (that nobody EVER uses) would be a nice touch.

But the checks are cool too.

I was thinking of doing that to your skin, actually. For a very long time. But... I'm lazy. XD

And I actually do use your skin sometimes. I use ALL the skins on occasion, just to make things seem fresh and different.

Knucxsonia - July 13, 2008 09:38 AM (GMT)
I use Dreadlocks because.....well....I like Knuckles.....and the color red.....I'm also an arrogant.....uhh...aw man. I promised myself I would never cuss out loud or online....so I won't.

Does that make me a wimp?

Nah. That's just how you roll, yo. Nothin' wrong with that.

Knucxsonia - July 13, 2008 06:21 PM (GMT)
Oh. I would think you would call me Barbie or something...then you would say something else....but I was wrong.

So I made a test board and it's pretty great. Avatar galleries, built-in web pages, BBCodes, etc. I already added "gender" to that space underneath the avatar. It's all built in. Bad news: I can't find a skin changer OH NOOO because it's already expletive built in!

Avenger29 - July 14, 2008 01:28 AM (GMT)
So, is it happening?

Dark Phazon - July 14, 2008 01:30 AM (GMT)
LALALA?

Seems interesting (though yeah those skins will definitely need a-changin' )

BR - July 14, 2008 01:41 AM (GMT)
Yes, LALALA is my amazing web page of awesomeness. And " al" is just "la" spelled backwards out of type "O" laziness.

It's happening as soon as (a) SRBackup finally converts and/or (2) I get all the new skins working on either it or this ZRB. And, as soon as Spoony allows it after that. And, as soon as Zeta converts the board, which could be a while itself.

But so yeah, it's "probably" happening. Thing is, it's a completely different CSS and I don't have the hours upon hours of time it'd take to even figure it out, much less convert it all. And there's no converter. So instead of a theme exactly like this here SOS Brigade, you might just find yourselves with a black, blue and gray theme of the same type with the same banner.

I'm hoping not to pull a DA on y'all, but I don't think this conversion is something we'd regret.

Check out the skin changer at the bottom of the page. I already have a couple of "skins" up.

Though I'll have to change my username. D: Minimum is 3 letters...

NINJA EDIT #3: Guests can now reply, so go try it out!

NINJA EDIT #4: YAY

If you want to make a skin for me, go ahead and I'll consider you my hero.

Hmm... Not too much seems really different other than that the default skin stuff doesn't look all that great. I don't believe the minor differences between skins is all that important to worry about losing or changing.

The main issue with dA6 seemed to be (outside of it not working all that well upon initial release) that the total design of everything was extremely different and confusing, and quite sudden (and slower for somewhat older computers like mine...). This zetaboards place seems very similar to the invisionfree style, at least to myself, so I don't think we'll have that type of situation with an SRB conversion.

There's no question that the setup is precisely the same, except more streamlined, quicker, and vastly improved. Apparently many people have converted with great improvements and no bugs.

The only issue I can see, then, is people having to deal with slightly different skin(s). And that's what this thread was for: to see which skins I should take the most care with.

No, sorry, I haven't been able to find any others. ^^; While it is pretty long, if you click on the name of the thing you're changing it'll highlight it in black for you, and you can click preview to see how it'll look. It's not a quick thing by any stretch of the imagination, but once it's done it's done.

You're not under any obligation to do it, though. :) I will have to do at least 10 of them, though (we're losing IF and Zeta's premade, but it's silly not to have DN and FMA skins, I mean come on) so seriously, if any of you wants to take on that bad boy... I'd be very appreciative indeed. ^^;

I could make banners, but skin codes and blah blah whatever stuffs are all Greek to me. :heh:

http://freeforumtools.com/zbgen/

Zero coding involved. ^_^ Just multiple choice and choosing colors.

It'd involve a lot of switching between the SRB on one tab and the theme creator on the other, comparing and contrasting the SRB with the generated preview to see what color such-and-such should be. A *lot* of that. If 2 or 3 people did 1 skin, it'd help me a lot, but it's looking like that might be a stretch. :heh:

Dark Phazon - July 14, 2008 05:23 AM (GMT)
You will have a Phoenix Wright banner...

...and if it gets more people here to pay attention to Code Geass, you will also have a Code Geass banner and/or skin! >:(

But seriously, if I find time, I may try my hand at doing the actual skin creation for one or two.

Avenger29 - July 14, 2008 06:27 AM (GMT)
I will do a revamped DBZ banner, and if there's enough interest, a Tekken banner and a Silver banner.

BR - July 14, 2008 04:29 PM (GMT)
we're still converting
Also gender profiling: take 2

EDIT for pretty okay justice

Is anybody noticing some slowdown? I'm getting some minor slowdown here due to the BB tags.

All of this will be smoothly integrated once we get Zeta in here.

[bounce][marguee=right]We'll go UP the path and DOWN the hill[/marguee][/bounce]

tinmanti - July 14, 2008 04:40 PM (GMT)
Well, I was in the middle of a ChuChu Rocket one... but I didn't know what to do after I'd made the two background images and the banner ^_^;
Also, a Tekken banner sounds awesome! I'd be all for it!

Tazzy Porqupine - July 14, 2008 06:15 PM (GMT)
Slowdown? As in, just now recently slowdown, or slowdown in the past few months? 'Cause the past month or so, the SRB has taken at least 12 seconds to load each page I click on, with both Firefox and IE, and it's the only site I go on that does it.

I'm not sure if it's related, though...

Hmm, that's really odd. I don't know what specific changes I made about a month ago, if any. Hopefully the ZB conversion will speed things up. That happen to anybody else?

I was talking about slowdown starting
today
, because of these special effects.

Tinman, that skin generator I linked to requires zero understanding of codes or code-related words; it only requires color recognition and decision-making ability. Also time.

I have noticed something like this as well. The header of the page loads quickly, with the top logo and all of that, but it takes a little while for the rest of the page to load. I've noticed it moreso on my laptop (where I use the srb.sonicrapidboard.com domain) than on my main computer. However, at least today on my main computer (with the z12.invisionfree.com address), I don't seem to be having this issue (or it's just not that noticeable).

However, this page, where you've used the special effects, has taken much longer to load than other pages, where these effects are not in use (plus the first time I loaded this page, it was very very broken). Also also:
user posted image

The spoiler tags seem to be hiding the parts of the post prior to where you used the spoiler tags. I haven't checked all of my browsers for this, though...

EDIT: Okay, after some more browsing around the site, there does seem to be very noticeable slowdown upon loading pages now, that's different than the previous issue (as in these recent cases, the page mostly loads, but then everything freezes for a couple seconds, before the page is completely loaded; or the page freezes before showing anything of the next page, before completely loading that next page).
