UPDATE: NEW CHAPTER! Chapter 5: What Lies Between Past and Future?

ATTENTION:
-I am horrible at spelling so if you see any errors don't mind it. >.<
-Also, I typed it in script style because it's easier to understand and because I felt like it.
-Alot of the things in this story follow up on the Sonic games like Shadow's past and those sorts. I used some lines from games and I AM NOT STEALING! I give full rights to Sega.
-Enjoy and PLEASE just try reading atleast just the first chapter and tell me how you like it.

This is a fanfic that follows Shadow and it is kind of O.C. but there is a reason for it that you will find out WAY later in the story. I have my own made up characters in it. There are only breif descriptions of the two main characters. There are others that aren't relivant so the description isn't necissary.

Rinka the Fox

Age: 16
Specialty Type: Power
Weapons: Her two daggers; Mikah and Mikoh, and ninja stars.
Friends:
Shade the Fox- Her best friend since birth. He has always taken care of her and treats her more like a little sister then a friend.
Liath the Wolf- Met her after she left her village. They became close friends.
Personality: Very outgoing and not afraid to jump on any situation (except when it has to do with her own emotions). She's not the type to speak about her feelings because she beleives feelings are a weakness but she tends to change in that way when she meets "someone" that she connects with right away. She's not self-concious and enjoys talking to mostly everyone.
Home Place: Her birth place is unknown but she was brought up in Sehraki Village.

Shade the Fox

Age: 19
Specialty Type: Speed
Weapons: Wooden staff and giant ninja star with his name engraved into it.
Friends:
Rinka the Fox- He took great care of her since she was brought to his village. He refers to her as his little sister but does he want something more?
Rustle the Fox- A friend he made after leaving the village. They created a gang together.
Personality: Like Rinka, he's very outgoing and also tends to pout up at the strangest times. He is very serious when it comes to his dear 'sister' Rinka and only wants the very best for her. He is willing to give up anything for her happiness.
Home Place: Sehraki Village

Darkness Never Lies

:Shadow: Chapter 1: Painful Memories :Shadow:

No home... no place to go. Just the past that brings pain. It kills but you have to remember... you musnt forget. Where will you go? What will you find? The future is foward... it's waiting.

Shadow opened his eyes and found himself lying in the empty grass. He staired out at the stary sky.
Shadow: Maria... if you can hear me... just know that I will one day join you and then we can be happy together once more.
He stood up and walked over to a small pond. In it he saw his lonely reflection.
Shadow: Is this who I am? Is this who I should be?
A soft breeze ruffled his fur and he sat down. He stuck his hand in the pond and moved it around watching the rippling of the water. With a sign he went into a transe and thought about the last time he ever saw his dear friend Maria. He always thought about that day... it made him depressed but he never would allow himself to forget it.

-Shadows Flashback-
In the space colony A.R.K., where he once lived, Shadow stood enclosed in a capsul with his hands against the glass reaching for Maria. She had her hand on a switch that would send the capsul hurdling towards the Earth. She wore a smile but tears streamed down her face... for she knew of the terrible fate that awaited her.
Maria: Shadow... I beg of you... please do it for me...
Shadow: MARIA!
Maria: For all the people on that planet... sayanora, Shadow the Hedgehog.
-End of Flashback-

Shadow finally came back to reality and stuck his other hand in the pond and began splashing his face with the water. Maria's soft voice still played in his head. He climed up the nearest tree and layed on a brance that hung over the pond. He closed his eyes and immediately fell asleep.

:Shadow: Chapter 2: The Perfect Match :Shadow:

The next morning Shadow ran through the Secluded Forest when he heard a voice. As he continued to run the voice became louder. Beyond a few trees he saw a lonely fox girl crying in her knees. She wore cloths of all black. Two daggars hung off each side of her belt. Shadow headed toward her.
Shadow: Are you alright?
The fox girl continued to cry as she completely ignored him. Shadow knelt before her and looked at her with concern and worry.
Shadow: What's wrong?
He had a strange feeling inside him... he desperately wanted to help her. She looked up at him with teary eyes. Once she made eye contact he couldn't bring himself to look away.
Shadow: If you don't want to speak to me then fine, but if you tell me what's bothering you maybe I could help.
Fox Girl: You don't need to be burdend with my problems...
She clung to her legs tightly. Shadow looked at them and saw that from her knees down her pants were torn and dreanched in blood. His eyes widend as she cringed in immense pain. She slowly stood up and attempted to walk away.
Shadow: What are you doing? Your only going to hurt yourself more.
Fox Girl: I'm fine... just leave me alone.
She started walking limply away and them began falling but Shadow caught her.
Shadow (to himself): How stubborn...
Fox Girl: ...maybe I'm not okay.
Shadow: What the hell happened?
Fox Girl: My heart was thrashed...
Shadow: And that tempted you to commit suicide? Nothing is worth killing yourself over.
Realizing how pathetic she sounded. Rinka blushed as Shadow sitll held her in his arms.
Fox Girl: Why are you helping me?
Shadow: I have experienced pain before and I don't beleive anyone should have to suffer from such a thing. I am going to bring you some place so I can properly treat your wounds. You have already lost too much blood and we must hurry.
Shadow began to run with amazing speed and swiftness as he safely held the fox girl in his arms.
Fox Girl: Thank you... thank you so very much for helping me you are too kind.
Shadow: It's fine...
Fox Girl: My name is Rinka the Fox by the way. What's your name? I should know the name of my hero.
Rinka forced a smile out of all her pain and Shadow kept deep concentration on running.
Shadow: I am Shadow... Shadow the Hedgehog.

:Shadow: Chapter 3: The Opening Light :Shadow:

Shadow ran faster and held Rinka tighter. He looked at her and saw that she had passed out.
Shadow (to himself): I'm almost near... I can hear the waterfall.
He went between a few trees and sighed of releaf when he finally made it to his destination. There was a waterfall that fell into a large pond and he walked over to it, setting Rinka down carefuly. Then he ran through the pond and into the cave on the other side of it. He rumaged through his things grabbing bandages and dashed over to Rinka as fast as he could.
Shadow: She must have seriously hurt herself to have passed out like this.
He soaked the bandages and rolled up her pant legs examening the large deep gashes and slash marks on her legs. Alot of blood was still ozing out from her open wounds. He wrapped each of her legs with the wet bandages and sat there waiting for her to awaken.
When she finally opened her eyes her vision was blurry. She rubbed them until she was able to see clearly. Shadow still sat beside her.
Rinka: Shadow? ...what happend? Where are we?
Shadow: You passed out when I was carrying you and I bandaged you. This is a secret place in the Secluded Forest that I have excepted as my home.
Rinka looked down at her bandaged legs and smiled. She sat up realizing her pain had decreased.
Shadow: Don't take off the bandages for a few months... you gave yourself alot of damage. Your lucky you even lived. If you want to wash off go ahead, I'll be on the other side of that cave.
He pointed to the cave on the other side of the pond. Rinka noded and Shadow departed. When he was completely out of sight she stripped of everything but her bra and underwear. She slowly stepped into the pond and stood under the waterfall.
Rinka: Ahh.. this is so refreshing.
Shadow was sitting on a rock out the other side of the cave.
Shadow (to himself): That girl... what is it about her that reminds me of someone?

:Shadow: Chapter 4: A New Beginning :Shadow:

Rinka was still standing under the waterfall. She had her eyes closed and her arms spread out as she tilted her head back.
Rinka: This is great! A waterfall in a deserted part of the forest... who knew?
She began to spin around under the waterfall and started giggling.
Rinka: I haven't felt so relaxed in ages.
She sat there in the pond and sighed of releaf. Her state her calmness made her completely forget about her pain.

Shadow was sitting on the rock waiting for Rinka to be done. He staired at teh sky and saw Maria's face there faintly.
Shadow: Why must I be forced to live here when your gone? I just continue living life without wanting to.
Rinka came to Shadow from out the other side of the cave completely careless that she was practicly nude. She saw that Shadow was lost in thought and called his name.
Rinka: Shadow? ...Shadow?
He came back to reality and looked her dead in the eyes.
Shadow: Yea... what is it?
She smiled and looked up at the sky just as he had a moment before.
Rinka: I don't know? I was getting bored being alone... what was it that you were looking at?
Shadow just then noticed that she was only wearing a skimpy black bra and underwear to match. He quickly began to focus on looking at the ground and blushed slightly.
Shadow: Nothing really...
Rinka: Oh.
She sat down next to Shadow on the rock and he felt her damp body touch his slightly and became uncomfortable.
Shadow: Why don't you put some cloths on?
Rinka: Oh ok. I'll be right back.
Completely unaware of Shadow's uncomfortable feeling she got up and danced as she walked away. She put all of her cloths on when something struck her mind.
Rinka: Oh no... I have to get out of here before I put him in danger. I better hurry.
She began to run when Shadow called for her.
Shadow: Rinka... where are you going? She turned to see Shadow walking toward her.
Rinka: I can't stay... I have to get out of here.
Shadow: Tell me... exactly what is going on. Just before you were so calm... why the sudden erge to leave?
Rinka: Nothing... I'm being chased down and I don't need to bring you into it.
Shadow: Just tell me the story. I want to know what it is that I'm 'not being brought into.' It can't possibly be as bad as anything else I've been through.
Rinka signed and gave in knowing he would probably never let her leave otherwise.
Rinka: Ok... well remember how my heart was completely thrashed?
Shadow nodded and thought about how bad the situation could possibly be. He just thought that maybe she was being delerious.
Rinka: Well his name was Krad. We were together for a while and I thought everything was going great until four days ago when he broke it off. When he left me alone an army of robots came marching toward me not even an hour later. They tried to attack me but I destroyed everyone of them with Mikah and Mikoh. It was a tough match but I pulled through.
Shadow: Mikah and Mikoh?
Rinka: My daggers... I named them. Mikah means strength and Mikoh means bravery. It is in the language my tribe speaks.
Shadow: Oh...
Rinka: So anyway... after all that I decided to keep running as far as I could so I wouldn'y have to face anymore annoyances. For two days I traveled aimlessly and ended up here. Yesterday I rested the entire day and you know the rest.
Shadow: An army of robots... sounds like the work of Dr. Robotnic.
Rinka: Dr. who?
Shadow: Dr. Robotnic... he's an evi scientist whose plan is to make the world his own. He has betrayed and used many in gaining power to himself. I was one of his victims and you could be his next target.
Rinka: He will die and I will shoe him no mercy.
Shadow: Looks like we have a mission then.
Rinka: What?! You can't be serious... this is my problem you do-
Shadow: Look... I want to get my revenge aswell. If we work together the job could be done more quickly. Besides your in no condition to fight alone.
Rinka: I agree... fighting together is a much better plan.
Shadow: Good... now lets go. We have no time to loose.
Rinka nodded and they headed off on their journey.

:Shadow: Chapter 5: What Lies Between Past and Future? :Shadow:

Shadow and Rinka continued walking deeper into the Secluded Forest. They were talking about their past which was usually unlikely for both of them.
Shadow: So, where do you come from?
Rinka: I come from a village called Sehraki. I'm a ninja of the Dark Blade Tribe. I left a few years ago and met my closest friend Liath. We decided to travel together and then... I met Krad.
Shadow: Krad... is that the one you had feelings for?
Rinka: Mmmhmm...
She tilted her head downward a little and Shadow noticed the sad look in here eyes. Rinka then realized that he was looking at her and then she looked out forward.
Rinka: It's alright though. I just have to pull forward!
She smiled and threw a punch up at the air dramaticly. Shadow found her quite amusing but never shown even a hint of interest.
Rinka: Where do you come from?
Shadow: I am but a creation... I was created aboard teh A.R.K. by a scientist named Professor Gerald... but Maria... she was taken from me. Those damn humans!
Rinka was shocked and understood nothing of what he said. She only became more confused when she tried to reply.
Rinka: A.R.K.? Maria? Shadow... what happened?
Shadow: I am a horrible creature that wanders this Earth with only one purpose... to fulfil my promise to Maria.. I will do it no matter what it takes. She is all I live for now... Maria...
They both became silent and Rinka thought it was best not to talk.
Shadow: She died, Rinka. Killed... killed by those humans... it was all because of me.
Rinka: I... I'm sorry...
Shadow: It doesn't matter. We should speed up the pace. At this rate we will never find Dr. Robotnic.
Rinka: Right.
They were silent once more and Rinka went into a trance and began having a vision.

-Rinka's Vision-
Rinka was running in a dark ally. She wore a black hooded cloak and carried a sword. She breathed heavily as she came to a stop. At her feet, was a trail of blood. She screamed, dropped her sword, and began to run again.
Rinka: Where do I go?!
She fell and tried to get up but her body was aching badly. She knelt on the ground and her heart pounded faster. A creature stood before her with her sword grasped in his hands. He looked nothing more then a shadow until he opened his blood red eyes.
Creature: Rinka... it's finaly time for your life to come to an end. You are a deciever... you are a loner. Now... DIE!
He lifted the sword above her and chuckled evily.
Rinka: DON'T DO THIS-
-End of Rinka's Vision-

A blinding light faded the scene and Rinka came back to reality. She was still walking beside Shadow who had the same blank expression upon his face.
Rinka (to herself): What was that? What did it mean? ...could it have been a vision of the future? ...No, what am I stupid?! Probably just my imagination.
Shadow: What are you thinking about? You look like your concentrating on something...
Rinka: I was just thinking... how do we know where to find this Dr. person?
Shadow: It's pure instinct... he has a new location for his base every time it's found or destroyed. It may be difficult to find him... but I'm willing to give it all to put an end to this mutany.
Rinka: Alright, me too! Where are we going first?
Shadow: Wherever this trail leads... we will probably end up in a city. I can't remember the name but I'm sure that's where this will take us.
Rinka: The city?
Shadow: First Time?
Rinka: No, it has been a while though. I love the city.
Shadow: I'm not much of a fan... too much comotion.
Rinka: That's true but they are so full of life! Thriving with joy!
Shadow became even more interested in her and wanted to know more about her and what she thought. Everything she said and did made him want to get to know her better. He still kept his emotionless state as they continued on their journey...

:Shadow: Chapter 6: Long Lost Friends :Shadow:

After two long hours of walking, Rinka and Shadow finally reached a city full of neaon lights. A large sign read, 'You are now entering Shine City.'
Rinka: Would Dr. Whats-a-ma-whos-it have a secret base here?
Shadow: Dr. Robotnic... I doubt it but it wont hurt to check it out.
The sun was setting as they walked around the giant city. Rinka's eye's were shining with happiness as she looked at everything she passed. Her ear's began to twitch from the loud music she heard from afar.
Rinka: Do you hear that?
Shadow: Hear what?
Rinka: The music!
Shadow: ...no.
Rinka: Follow me.
Rinka started running and Shadow followed. They both stopped when they reached a building. Rinka saw a sign on the door and read it aloud.
Rinka: 50th Anniversary Celebration at 9:30 pm to 2:00 am.
Shadow: Celebration...
Rinka: I love parties!
Shadow: Hmmm... this seems odd to me... we should have a look at this.
Rinka: Alright!
They entered the building together and were blinded by neon lights. The music blasted and the place was crowded. Rinka spoted a dance floor ahead.
Rinka: Time to dance!
She dashed over to it and danced. Shadow followed slowly and stood aside the dance floor.
Rinka: Come on Shadow! Don't you want to dance.
Her eyes lit up and her hair bounced around with her. Shadow was then leaning against a wall watching.
Shadow: This place seems suspicious. I want to take a look around.
Rinka: Oh... want me to come?
Shadow: No. Have your fun.
He walked off and Rinka watched him.
Rinka: I wonder...
Two gangster fox's came toward her. One was wearing baggy jeans, a red hat tilted sideways, and a chain around his neck. The other had on a dark blue hoodie and baggy jeans aswell. The one with the hat seemed to be the 'leader.'
Fox 1: Hey, wanna dance?
Rinka: Sure... I guess.
Fox 1: Alright. Let's do this... Rinka.
Rinka: Wait a minute.... how do you know my name?
Fox 1: Your quite popular.
He took out a ninja star and smiled slyly. Rinka took out her daggers and staired him down.
Rinka: Hey! I don't know what you think your doing but you picked a fight with the wrong girl!
The other fox stood back like nothing unusual was going on and watched.
Fox 2: Are you sure this is her?
Fox 1: Yea... positive.
Rinka: THATS IT!
She ran toward him with her daggers pointed at him. He jumped over her and she quickly turned around.
Fox 1: ...Let's see you dodge this.
He chucked his ninja star directly at her and she caught it in her teeth. She came after him and his eye's widened.
Rinka: THIS WILL TEACH YOU TO MESS WITH ME!
Fox 1: AHHH! RINKAAA! IT'S ME! SHADE!
Rinka droped the ninja star from her teeth and was in complete shock. She looked down and teh ninja star and the name 'Shade' was engraved in it. She glomped him and smiled.
Rinka: Shade! It's you! I missed you!
Shade hugged her tightly and smiled aswell.
Rinka: What the hell were you thinking fighting with me?!
Shade: I wanted to see if you would remember me. I also wanted to bring back the old times.
Rinka: Well... you sure did... but if you didn't tell me that you were you I could have killed you.
Shade: Nah... your too gental to kill.
He laughed and Rinka joined. They released eachother from the hug and the other fox came over to them.
Shade: Well, this is my friend Rustle.
He pointed to the fox who stood there smiling.
Rustle: Hey Rinka. I heard alot about you.
Rinka: Hello. Nice to meet you.
She put her daggers back on her belt and shook his hand. Shade picked up his ninja star from the ground and put it on his belt aswell.
Shade: So... how's it going?
Rinka: Fine What about you?
Shade: Oh, I'm great!
He smiled but Rinka saw sadness in his eyes. She wanted to ask what was wrong but it was better not to.
Shade: I'm sorry to just run off but we have to go. I'll see you again... I promise. Bye.
Rinka: Alright, see ya.
She smiled and waved. Both Rustle and Shade walked off and waved back. Rinka stood there on the dance floor and staired blankly at the wall.
Rinka (to herself): ...he told him about me?
Rinka sighed and smiled. She was glad that Shade didn't forget her. She went over to the bar and sat down.

It's good, but couldn't you type it in something with a spell checker then paste it on here? But the story itself is intresting by merit of the characters, they're much more three-dimensional than most stories. Keep it up!
