Alright! Let's get a new sci-fi RP off the ground! I know that a lot of RPs are going around, and obviously, if you're going to join just one new RP, I'd urge you to join Of Men and Beasts, but if you're up for multiple ones, your options are open!
Fourteen months after the events in B&I...
The U.T.R. continued its expansion. Eventually, though, humanity encountered two alien races at virtually the same time. The mobians, and the black arms. For reasons unknown, both races almost instantly declared war on the U.T.R. The war was hard, but both Mobius and Black Doom had underestimated the might of the united human race. With 12 months, human marines had stormed Acorn Palace on Mobius and human fleets had blasted the known black arms spawning planets (yes, whole planets with a climate similar to that recreated in the Black Comet, and devoted to spawning more black arms) metaphorically into the Stone Age. It was theorized that Black Doom itself, the apopearent leader of the Black Arms, was dispatched during the conflict, and the black arms remaining seemed to enter a pacified state of hibernation.
By the time the war ended, however, the humanity had made contact with numerous other species, like tameranians. However, it seemed that the "homeworlds" of the other races were much closer to each other than any one of them was to Earth, and as such, the U.T.R. had been able to claim as much as at least 1/5 of the galaxy (or at least some large fraction) unopposed. That, coupled with the military buildup caused by the war, and the fact that the black arms were a scourge of the galaxy that the other races had been unable to defeat, caused the other races to look upon humanity with both a sense of awe, or at least respect, but fear and mistrust at the same time. The U.T.R. is a military, economic, and industrial superpower now, and its defeating in a year what the other races had failed to do since they encountered it, the black arms hive, proved, that, as an expression goes, "there's a new sheriff in town", or, in that case, the known galaxy (as not ALL of it has been explored).
Soon, the U.T.R. proposed the construction of the "Galactic Forum", a massive station that served as a sort of galactic diplomacy and culture center, where various species and cultures bumped with each other, and each known species has an embassy there (with the exception of the black arms, of course). People various species can meet and greet freely in this city in space, and it is not uncommon to find members of multiple species sitting or walking and talking together, having lunch, etc.
Friendly as that atmosphere may seem, still, a feeling of suspense is still present. The other races are scared, more or less, of humanity, and there are numerous outspoken (non-human) people who have claimed that all non-humans should band together to stand against the "human threat". Conversely, there are a few humans, members of the "Terra Victus" party, a very small political party, who claim that we should arm up and "put those filthy xenos in their place", citing the war against the mobians and black arms as evidence that the other civilizations in the galaxy hate us and will attempt to destroy us with little or no provocation.
So an issue here for human characters will be how will they represent humanity in this politically sensitive climate? And for non-human characters, how do they view us?
United Terran Republic (U.T.R.)
The United Terran Republic is the name of the "Earth government", as it has also been referred to (in B&I). Few humans are not citizens in it, meaning that the U.T.R. is often, at least, seen as synonymous with humanity. As the name implies, it is a republic, with a strong central government but one in which leaders are democratically elected, and it is headquartered, of course, on Earth. Its workings largely, at least, resemble a modern western democracy, due to the fact that its predecessor, the United Terran Federation, was itself formed in the aftermath of the victory of the mostly-western Alliance of Democratic Nations in WW3 (centuries before this RP takes place).
In addition to the humanity's United Terran Republic, there are numerous other governments in the galaxy...
The Tameranian Dominion
Head of state ("official" title included as part of name): Grand Ruler Galfore
Brief bio: The Tameranian Dominion, though its people are proud warriors with fierce competitive streaks, has had little interest in expansion. Primarily sticking to Tameran's system itself, and a few ones surrounding it, it is a relatively minor power, but despite that, its people are known well enough galaxy-wide for it to have been granted an embassy on the Galactic Forum. Tameranians value valor and bravery, but are often introverted, caring little for galactic affairs that don't deal directly with them. There are, however, a few notable exceptions to that trend, like one adolescent Tameranian known as "Starfire", and her sister, "Blackfire"...
tameranian soldiers rarely use weapons, preferring instead to fight using only the emotion-based abilities they have. Tameranian opinion on humanity is generally positive. Generally.
The Kingdom of Mobius
Head of state: Princess/Queen Sally Acorn
Brief bio: Mobius, to this day, has a human garrison city on it as a result of the war. Nonetheless, while not too large itself, Mobian-claimed territory is larger than that of the Tameranians. Mobian government is actually divided, various semi-independant houses of Mobians all pay homage to House Acorn, and to Sally Acorn, who herself is facing a bit of unrest as a result of her leading Mobius into a war that they lost. Mobians are rather sharply divided over humanity: some believe that the war was wrong, and more or less respect humanity, others hate humanity for the total defeat wrought on Mobius after the war.
The Yeerks
Head of State: The Council of Thirteen
Brief Bio: A parasitic species, that, on their own blind, deaf, and mute, but they have the ability to enter a sentient species brain and take them over completely. However, they must feed from Kadrona rays every three days or starve, a very painful experience to the Yeerk...And it's host body.
Yeerks have a very militaristic set up, the Council of Thirteen is in command, with a supreme leader in there. However, only those in the Council know who he is. After them are the Vissers, Visser One being the highest. After that, the Sub-Vissers, in a similar numbering fashion.
They have taken over the Hork-Bajir planet, but were stopped from using all of these prime hosts when many of them were killed by a virus devised by the Andalites. They also use the Taxxons, a large, centipede-like creature that have a constant hunger, but Taxxons are more of allies then hosts. They also control some Gedds, smaller, lumbering creatures from their "homeworld".
However, they have started to take numerous other hosts...a few more influential people/aliens might even be a Controller...
The Andalites
Head of State: The Electorate, Fleet High Command
Brief Bio: The Andalites are a very proud species who can be very arrogant. Their foes are the Yeerks, and they have been in battle with them for years now. It is said the Andalites are so determined to defeat the Yeerks from something called Seerow's Kindness.
Because of their war, the Andalites have a very impressive military fleet, and the Electorate and the civilians are sometimes kept in the dark about certain plans. Also, with their military build up, they may be one of the few species who have any chance of possibly defeating the U.T.R.
However, the Andalites have no intention of fighting a two pronged war, as fighting both the humans and Yeerks would bring their destruction, and they have no beef with humanity as of now.
They are also scientists, and have created a number of devices to help with them in the fight...Such as the morphing cube, a device that lets whoever touches it able to acquire another species, whether from their planet or not, and morph into that creature at will later. Of course, their is a time limit. Roughly two Earth hours.
The Elcor Dominion
The Elcor Dominion
Head of state: The Council of Elders
The elcor are a large but slow-moving species. Their hides are thick and their bodies are strong, but they move and think and decide so slowly that they have found themselves fairly unfit for combat, instead relying on drones programmed with thousands of combat tactics that elcor stratigists have come up with, allowing those drones to select a tactic on the fly in combat. Similarly, the elcor, slow to decide on what to do, have turned to recorded history to help with their decision-making process. They have studied, pondered, and more or less come up with a plan for most any situation imaginable. These complex plans are stored away in their databanks, to be accessed when their elder council deems it nessessary. The result is that elcor policies can be very predictable, provided one has done a considerable deal of research. Nonetheless, their plans are one of their government's most well-kept secrets.
Elcor have not expanded very far, and are a minor power in the galaxy.
Also, they have a
certain way of communicating.
Nourasians: A race of aliens from the far away planet of Nourasia. Their culture much resembles the middle ages of earth with their customs of kings, queens, knights, and all around chivalry. On this planet a form of martial arts and knife/dagger/sword fights are the primary form of defense against ememies. Members of the royal family have the ability to use magic and forsight (Aikka in the form of a magical bow and arrow), as well as fly giant beatles. The planet is led by King Lao, Queen Nori, and Prince Aikka.
Crogs: A hostile race of aliens from the Crog Imperium where the planet is rulled in a form of dictatorship. This planet focuses on invasion (for most of the Oban series they were inhabiting Nourasia and controling Prince Aikka) and has no problems taking lives of others and their own. The Crogs are led by General Kross.
The galaxy is getting very politically complicated. The yeerks and andalites are at war, as are the nourasians and crogs. While the yeerks and andalites seem to be more or less evenly matched, the crogs are devastating the nourasians, and the latest news publicly known on their war is that the crogs have blockaded Nourasia, and have begun an invasion...
The Galactic Forum
The Galactic Forum is a massive station constructed jointly by many races in the known galaxy. It contains the "Presidium", a relatively small section of the station that treats visitors and residents to well-kept gardens, fountains, etc., while also housing the various rooms that serve as the embassies for the various species on the Galactic Forum. In addition, it contains the Assembly Hall, where the all of various ambassadors on the Forum meet to discuss matters of galaxy-spanning importance. Each embassy also features cultural and historical sections for the purposes of educating visitors of other races on the culture, history, government, etc., of the race whose embassy it is in. A tour guide VI (virtual intelligence, a non-sentient program designed for user interaction) can be accessed throughout the persidium. The persidum is well-lit, but a glance at its ceiling will remind the viewer that it is still just on a space station.
The majority of the Galactic Forum is known as the "Wards". It contains all sorts of things: living quarters, corporate offices, markets where both corporate and individual salesmen come to offer their wares, barracks and dock facilities/hangars for the various military garrisons on the Forum, hotels, resturants, casinos, etc. It's a busy place, and a visit to it almost guarantees an encounter with multiple species besides one's own.

A lot of info, yes, and Irony have lots of stuff planned out for this. This has the potential to be epic. If you want to add a species, check with Irony or myself, otherwise, many charas are available. For now, in addition to Didymus, I think I'll have Sally Acorn in my "charas roster", but many others are available. Starfire, Blackfire, Sonic, Knuckles, a whole slew! Granted, they're ports into this RP's "universe", but still, big fun, right? So what are you waiting for? Sign up!

Edit 2: Due to something I've seen, and the potential nature of the stuff in this RP, I've decided to add an advisory/rule/what have you:
The various views abouth things like life, exsistance, theology, other dimensions, the afterlife etc., etc, expressed in this RP may differ, and even be contradictory to each other. Instead of arguing/debating/flaming about those issues, however, we will "officially", if you will, leave the question "Who's right about it all?", unanswered, and each RPer and reader will have to decide what to believe for themselves.
