(And so, TSC's sequel begins.)

Station Square-Central Park

It was mid-morning, and Didymus was walking through the park of Station Square. It was good to be stateside again, and although he had been teased as being an "international operative", the men and women at Fort Patton still understood perfectly well that he was still part of the U.S. military, despite his assignment to G.U.N. He took a deep breath, and began to look over the statues in the park...one of Sonic the Hedgehog, and another commemorating the military's defense of Station Square during the Black Arms invasion.

He smiled.

Downtown Station Square

Rouge leaned against a building, wondering what to do today. With Eggman locked up, and terrorist activity across the world dropping (according to a news broadcast from SSTV she had seen earlier that day), she theorized that her life was going to get much more boring.

On the other hand, she considered that there was still more treasure to steal.

She didn't notice, as she walked down the street, looking for a place to get some breakfast, that she was nearing the office of the Chaotix.

(Oh yeah!)

Soleanna Streets, far away

Fang the sniper had looked around the city and had became dreadfully bored. He moved his office here, after hearing the black arms invasion, Eggman's threatening, and Metal Sonic's rise. He came for work, but so far had no luck. He didn't have much. Suddenly his phone rang. He answered it and said "Hello?"

A distant island off the coast of California

Dr. Vexen Von Karma looked upon his metal metropolis. "The great Scrap metal zone",as many punks called it. He was the only one to live here, as the rest was machinary. Sure, there were soldiers, but they were usually off scouting for him. The sky was purple from the smog, and there was not a single blade of grass. The place was located on the aptly named Mirage Island, an island barely ever seen by the naked eye. Suddenly, a man entered the observation deck. He was wearing a gas masked and caried a fairly sized machine gun. One of Vex's few men.

"Sir, Dr. Ivo Robotnik was placed in a place called Prison island. He is awaiting trial." The soldier said.

"Any news from EMU?" Vex said.

"No. We lost connection with him about a month ago." The soldier said.

"Very well. He must have turned to another side."

"Any neccessary action?"

"No, we'll replace him with a man...yes, that will be suitable. Are there any bounty hunters in Soleanna?"

"Of course, sir."

"Excellent, get me online with him."

"Yes, sir." The soldier then left.

"And so, it begins." Vex said with a smile.

-Chaotix Office-

"Chaotix Detective Agency, Vector speaking!"

Silence.

"Oh...sorry ma'am. Yah, that's a 2, not a 3..."

Vector hung the phone up with a scowl. Wrong number.

"We need a job," Vector sighed.

"We could do something for the general good..." Espio suggested, walking into Vector's office with a newspaper in hand, "There's been someone going around town...A couple people have gone missing."

"No one's paying us, so not our problem," Vector said, laying his head on the desk, "And it's to early for me to think about being charitable."

Espio glanced at the clock. "It's ten..."

"Exactly."

-Station Square: Central Park-

Issai scowled to himself, walking through the park. In his hands he held a bag of food, and was sipping a cup of ice tea.

Metal Sonic had let Issai head off on his own for now, so the hedgehog was just exploring the city for now.

"Why did I get tacos...?" he wonder vaguely, looking at the fast food bag he had gotten. He really didn't have any concept of breakfast...

Prison Island: Maximum Security Confinement Cell

"Well isn't this just peachy?" Dr. Eggman, the notorious criminal who stuffed small furry animals inside robots and stole emeralds from flying islands and occasionally threatened the world with giant space station lasers was now sitting on his rump in a prison cell.

The cell had no windows, saved the small slot in the door where his food was passed to him. There was a cot, a sink and a toilet and nothing else. There was a light on the ceiling, but it was covered with a hard-plastic cover that could withstand a gunshot.

Eggman had no access to the outside world. There seemed to be no way he could be a threat to anyone or anything.

"... I've got it!" Eggman grinned. "I'll just do like that Snake person and hide under my bed, and when the guard comes to check on me I'll knock him out with karate and escape, using my awesome stealth!"

Five minutes later, Eggman tried his plan. Unfortunately, he couldn't fit under the bed and the guard merely laughed at him.

"Dohh.... I'll get out of here, you'll see! And I'll get my revenge on all of you!"

(Alright!)

Station Square:Central Park

Sam strolled around the park, nothing to do. By stroll, I mean run like a Chaos Emerald was there. As he ran, he saw a statue of Sonic, and said: ".....Wonder where he is now..." and heard his stomach grumble. ".......Huh...I feel like eating pancakes....Well, there's bound to be a store around. He saw Issai, but didn't bother. Oh, there's one!" Sam rushed inside to get his stomach filled.

(I don't know how long this "intro phase" will go on, but it may be for a few pages. Like in TSC, it's nice to just have charas living their daily lives, socializing, ect., for a bit...don't worry, the adventure, once it starts, will be epic.)


Station Square-Central Park

Didymus peered over the statues. One of Sonic, posing and grinning, with the engraving "SONIC THE HEDGEHOG", the other simply depicted a human soldier, standing, gun in hand, firm, and with an earnest, determined expression on his face. The engraving on that one was a bit more wordy:

"IN HONOR OF THOSE WHO STOOD IN DEFENSE OF STATION SQUARE AND ITS CITIZENS" and the date of the Black Arms invasion.

There was even a memorial at Fort Patton for that, which was a bit more detailed (it had the names of all who fought in that battle, their ranks, and names of those dispatched in the fighting were written in gold rather than white).

Didymus sighed. It was good that he and his fellow troops were recognized. He began to walk away from the statues, and walk just...somewhere. He actually, without knowing it, began to walk towards the Chaotix Detective Agency, meaning that he would soon cross paths with either Rouge, the Chaotix, or both.


Outside Chaotix Detective Agency

Rouge had walked along. It drew less attention than flying, and as she made her way through the crowd, (admittedly, she found doing so at roughly half the height of most in it was a bit difficult), she came upon the Chaotix's office/house.

She paused, thinking.

Is it worth it? Could they have really heard something that I haven't?

Station Square-Amy's Apartment

(I know I haven't done signups for Amy, I'll do them sometime (barring somebody else wanting her), but for now...)

Eggs. Toast. Bacon. Waffles. The scent of all that good stuff carried through the apartment as Amy, wearing an apron in addition to her dress, busily prepared a good, hearty breakfast. She was indeed hungry, but she had heard something-whispers-that Sonic was in town, and she wanted to make him feel welcome. He was going to be stopping by for breakfast-he just didn't know it yet.

At least, that's what Amy told herself.

Prison Island

SSTV's most well-known reporter stood outside the main base on Prison Island. Normally, civilian news teams wouldn't even be allowed on the island, but this was a special exception. People across the Earth would want to see this trial, although everyone seemed to know how it would end.

Running a hand through her hair to make sure it was all in the right place, Scarlet Garcia faced the camera, and, on que, began to speak.

"This is Scarlet Garcia reporting on-location about the trial on Prison Island, scheduled to begin sometime today. The infamous Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik will today face a slew of charges, from robbery and murder to collaboration in the destruction of military assets the globe over and attempted coup against every government on Earth. The trial is not set to begin for a few hours, and on special government permission, we'll be there, broadcasting it live for all of you. Tune in then. For SSTV, I'm Scarlet Garcia."

The crew stopped filming, and one of them took out a thermos, and began to distribute coffee in small cups to his fellow news staff.

Soleanna City, Fang's office

"Yes, is this Fang?" The voice crackled.

"Yeah. Look, if it's the IRS..." Fang said.

"No, no, no. I have a mission." Thevoice said.

"Nice try, prankster." And he hung up the phone. He sighed deeply and noticed a pamplet nearby.

"Come to Station Square" He read aloud. "Take a beach side rest, enjoy the slot machines of Casinopolis, and visit Twinkle Park" This caught Fang's intrest.

"I need a vacation anyway...Station Square, here I come!"

Broken Egg Carrier

A large robot stood at the entrance to the now destroyed air ship. He had destroyed all the capsules that may have held more of Eggman's robots. Omega knew that his creator was in jail now, but he had to secure his victory. He hated Eggman for abandoning him, and still hated him now.

"I should leave..."Omega began, and he turned away. "Maybe I can find my allies...Shadow and Rouge...yes, that'd be wise...."

Station Square-Central Park

Sam walked out with a full stomach, sighing. "Nothing like waffles, pancakes, french toast to get ya full in the morning..." He walked along the sidewalk, and went back to the statues. He kept walking and saw a poster for Twinkle Park's Special: "Cute Couples get in free!!!!" He looked at it and said, "Makenai Ai Date...." He closed his eyes for a couple of seconds, and dropped the paper. ".....Kono mune ni kanarazu aru hazu yo." He walked, unknowingly past the Chaotix agency...

Station Square-outside Chaotix Detective Agency

After standing for a bit, Rouge decided it was worth a check.

She approached the Chaotix's door and knocked.

Meanwhile, Didymus was nearing the Chaotix Detective Agency himself.

Station Square Train station

Fang walked off the the train with a smile. "What should I do first? Well, I'll have to wait a while, as nothing's open 'till noon."

He whirled around and saw a poster. He peeled it off the wall and scanned it's contents. It said "Team Chaotix agency" but the rest of the sign had graffiti all over it...probably some punk....

"It doesn't sound like a bad idea to visit some old comrades...hope they don't hold a grudge. The address is right here...I'll go put my stuff in the hotel room, and catch up with them." Fang picked up his suit cases and made way for his hotel.

-Chaotix Detective Agency-

The door flew open, and Vector stood in the hallway, and paused, looking down at Rouge.

"Oh...hello Rouge..." Vector said with a frown, "Do you have a job for us?"

-Station Square...Location, Unknown...He's lost, alright?-

Martin the Meerkat sighed to himself. He had a fanny pack on, and a map.

He and his parents were on vacation. He was off by himself.

"Where the heck am I?" he wondered, scratching his head.

He heard a train pass by...He assumed he was next to a train station, and searched for one on his map.

(Martin's parents will most likely not make any appearance. At least, not an important one.)

Chaotix Detective Agency

Rouge regarded Vector, and spoke.

"Why the frown?" she asked. "Aren't you happy to see me? Anyway, actually, I don't have a job for you...I was wondering if you had heard anything interesting." she said.

Station Square

Didymus walked along, and saw an anthro meerkat, puzzling over a map.

He approached him, slowly, and spoke up.

"Pardon me, but is there somewhere I can help you find?" he asked.

Station Square

Fang looked around, gaping at awe-spiring city of Station Square. Soleanna was nice, but this place was much better. But he failed to notice the guy in front of him. He fell to the ground after hitting Didymus.

"Ow, watch where you're goin-" Fang said, but paused and realized he was a G.U.N Officer. His face was in the newspaper..."I'm sorry..." Fang began.

-Chaotix Detective Agency-

"Sorry," Vector said, "And we don't have any gems for you to steal either..."

He began to close the door, but Espio appeared, stopping it.

"I take it you haven't been in Station Square lately," Espio said, and handed Rouge the paper. It wasn't the front page, but he pointed to a small article circled in red.

"Another unexplained disappearance, the third in a couple months. The individual in question was seen fleeing down a street, late at night. When police responded to a call, only the victim's clothes and belongings were found. Police continue to be baffled by these cases."

That's what the article read...

-Station Square: By the Train Station-

Martin paused, looking towards Didymus.

"Hey! That's the soldier I saw back home when those terrorists attacked!...But he doesn't know me by my secret identity, only as The Marvelous Meerkat!" Martin thought to himself in an inner monologue.

He blinked, then coughed, realizing he had gone silent for a while.

Martin prepared to speak, when suddenly Fang ran into Didymus!

Station Square

Omega had made it to Station Square with ease. He was walking down the street when several people screamed "Oh my gosh, it's an Eggman Robot!" and "I thought that guy was arrested", plus "Someone call the S.W.A.T Team!" But Omega only responded with "Get over it."

Omega had to find Shadow and Rouge. He also planned to find Eggman's Mystic Ruins base.

Near Prison Island

While the rest of the Sonic crew seemed to be enjoying time off from saving the world, another figure had other plans. The crew were in town performing random errands, but his was a bit more important.

Standing on a high cliff, Shadow the Hedgehog looked down at the facility, apparently counting how many guards were visible, and their locations. Shadow glared down at the facility, calculating his next move, the timing would need to be perfect. Though he possessed the fire power to level the facility, Shadow was looking for a way in without harming any innocent lives.

If he was lucky, and perfect. only one would pay....

Station Square

Didymus blinked, looking down at Fang.

A few ways to react made their presence known in his mind, and he decided on one.

"Don't worry about it. Just be careful." he said.

He faced Marvin again.

"So, again, is there somewhere you need to go?" he asked.

Meanwhile, although calls were made, checks were also made, and the only law enforcement Omega would see in response to his presence were police officers telling citizens that Omega was confirmed to NOT be loyal to Eggman, and just to not intimidate him.

Chaotix Detective Agency

Rouge's eyes twinkled when she read the article.

"Thanks, latte-boy." she said with a grin at Espio, referencing somewhat of a standoff in Soleanna that they had had (remember?).

"This should be very interesting." she was grinning indeed, glad that she'd have something else to do. "Although truth be told, this is more in your department..." she admitted to the Chaotix.

Prison Island-base command center

Officers in the command center at Prison Island were looking at a camera feed, and a satellite feed, both of which were showing a certain "emo" antrho hedgehog standing, observing the base.

"Security alert." the colonel in the room said. "Increase combat readiness, but no alarms, no offensives. Just...prepare." he said.

Around the base, additional weapons were passed out, men deployed, blast doors shut, etc.

Meanwhile, a pair of guards made their way to Eggman's cell. Opening it, one spoke.

"Alright, come on. Time to get ready for your trial." he said, gruffly, to say the least.

-Station Square-

"Well..." Martin said, "I'm more lost in general...Sight seeing, you know?"

The meerkat chuckled, then held out his hand, "Name's Martin Meerkat...I'm from Soleanna. You?"

-Chaotix Detective Agency-

"I have been..." Espio said to Rouge, "But I haven't been able to get anything so far..."

Vector looked towards the chameleon, "Doing free lance Espio?"

"It is every ninja's duty to protect the innocent..."

Station Square

Didymus took Martin's hand and shook it.

"Didymus. Mjaor Didymus (insert last name). Me, I was born here in the U.S. Not around these parts, but in this nation. Although I have been to Soleanna...well crafted city-state." he said, although he did not elaborate on his experiences. After what happened there, especially considering that Martin was an anthro...again, Didymus didn't elaborate on his experiences in Soleanna.

Chaotix Detective Agency

Rouge let out a small grunt after Espio's comment, and spoke.

"Well, let me know if you want some help...I'll probably be in the city for a while. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to get some breakfast." she said.

With that, she turned, spread her wings, and was off.

-Station Square-

"You were there during the terrorist attack, weren't you?" Martin said with a chuckle, "Nobody who's been to Soleanna for a vacation uses 'well crafted' to describe it. They talk about the canals and what not."

He paused, then rubbed the back of his head, "And don't worry about stuff like that. I'm all for unity. Why, if I could, I would have helped you guys...But what's a normal meerkat like me suppose to do, huh?"

Martin then chuckled nervously, "Wonder if he remembered The Marvelous Meerkat, but if I ask him that, it could arouse suspicion...And this guy looks pretty smart...Still..."

"Did you meet anyone interesting in Soleanna though?"

-Chaotic Detective Agency-

Espio nodded as Rouge took off, and Vector closed the door.

"Well then Espio...looks like we have a case..."

Station Square

"I was in Soleanna during the crisis a few months back." he said. "It was supposed to be R&R, but it turned out to be something different." he chuckled.

"But I did meet quite a few interesting people there." he said. He thought about it: Sonic, Tails, the Chaotix and Mighty, Elise, that strange "superhero", even, and...

And had an outing with one I already knew, albeit only a bit, but maybe I should keep that part quiet... he thought.

(You guys started without me! I go to the fair, get grounded for a day, and you guys start a role play! Oh well, on with the show!)

Station Square Suburbs

Hemoth was taking a walk with Leiva and Zorac. Hemoth and Leiva have been good friends with Zorac and Synge after a few weeks of being together.

They were headed to Twinkle Park to have some fun....although Zorac was forced to go. "I'm STILL not fond of amusment parks." he complained.

"Oh, come on, Zorac. Have some fun once in a while!" Leiva said as she walked a faster pace.

"I don't think we should have much fun. After that creation of Vex's dissapeared, that's mainly what we have been doing. We should be out looking for it." he stated.

Leiva just rolled her eyes. This party pooper wasn't gonna ruin her fun.

The hedge-dragon then looked about. "Hey.....where's Synge?" he asked.


Somewhere around the Chaotix Detective Agency

A pink dragon looked around. She was thinking of that robot that dissapeared in Soleanna Forest a month or so ago. Then, she the building that the Chaotix Detective Agency was in.

She stopped, and took a good look. *Would these guys be able to find that droid for Zorac?* she asked herself. She asked herself that same question for a few minutes....then she knocked the door.

(Don't expect much from EMU, as he is in parts unknown. And for that matter, Vex's actual plans don't come into play until later)

Station Square

Fang brushed himself off, and listened to the conversation. When it haulted, Fang said "Wait, I just moved to Soleanna...out of curiosity....the newspapers wrote down the heroes. You were one," He said pointing at Didymus. "There was also Sonic, Tails, My old comrades:Chaotix, and some vigilant named Masked Meerkat. Wonder who he is. Sounds like Soleanna has a Batman, huh?" Fang said with a smile.

Station Square

Omega walked down the road, still searching for Rouge, when he reached Chaotix. They could help... He entered without knocking and closed the door.

"Hello, Chaotix." Omega began. "You guys are excellent trackers. It would be nice if you could find out where Rouge and Shadow are. I don't have money now, but where I'm going, there'll probably be plenty."

Scrap Metal Zone

A soldier walked into Vex's room, and said "Permission sire?"

Vex grunted "Yes. What is the situation?"

"Our scouts have seen the bounty hunter you atempted to hire in Station Square."

"Keep an eye on him."

"Also, the last of the hedgedragons have also been sited in Station Square. He has three friends now."

"Keep an eye on him too."

"Yes sire." and he walked out.

With that, the good Dr gave a nasty laugh.

Staition Square Suburbs

The three have walked a fair distiance. Leiva was excited off her skirt, Hemoth was trying to get her to slow down, and Zorac only wondered were Synge was.

"I think I'm gonna go find Synge. I'll meet you at the Twinkle Park enterance." he said as he ran the other direction.

"OK, bye!" yelled Leiva. "Be sure to find her quickly!" Hemoth added.

Twinkle Park

A gas masked man stood atop a large building at the entrance of Twinkle Park. He was the agent who spotted Zorac the hedge dragon. His communicator went off and he answered.

"Yes?"

"Watch the hedge dragon." The voice hissed.

"What about his friends?"

"They are to be left alone. Only use force if neccessary."

"Yes sir." As he turned off his comunicator, he accidently shot his machine gun.

Oh no. He thought. Vex's men were never to be discovered. If they were, Vex's orders were to kill themselves, to prevent their capture and questioning. The soldier then jumped off the building, and into the sea, where he drowned.

Scrap Metal Zone

"Sir, we lost an agent." The man said.

"What reasons?" Vex asked.

"He shot his gun. But if he brought any attention to himself, no one will know. He commited suicide."

"Very well. Prepare my ship. I'll be heading to Station Square to straighten some buisness out." Vex said.

"Roger." And the man left.

Dr. Vex stared at the vast ocean, wondering where this would take him.

Twinkle Park

Hemoth and Leiva made it here....but they had to wait for Zorac and Synge.

Suddenly, they heard a machine gun. "Holy crap! What was that?!?" the blue dragon jumped.

Leiva looked around....and saw some guy jump off a bridge. "Eh, it's just some crazy suicidal guy." she answered.

Hemoth looked the same direction. "Ah."


Station Square

The hedge-dragon was still looking for Synge. As usual, she was always gone when he needed her around.

He only hoped that he could find her before Leiva would become impatient.

-Station Square-

"The Marvelous Meerkat," Martin said to Fang, "That's his name...He's fairly well known there...He took out a crime boss a couple months before the terrorist attack...Though the authorities never found Pottomus..." Pottomus was the name of the Hippo Mobian that was a key player in Soleanna's underground network...Until Double M managed to take him down...

Martin paused, remembering that battle...

-Chaotix Detective Agency-

It seemed almost as soon as Vector had closed the door, another knock had forced him to open it.

He paused, seeing the pink dragon.

However, before he could ask, "Can I help you?" Omega had appeared as well.

"Shadow and Rouge?" Vector said, then frowned when Omega said he didn't have money. Last time they took a job that promised pay later...Well, that was the whole Metal Overlord incident.

"Rouge was just here. She said she went to go get breakfast. She also said she'd be in the city for a while. Didn't leave us a number or anything to reach her," Vector told Omega, "As for Shadow...No clue."

"Can I help you?" Espio wondered, appearing back at the door, looking to the pink dragon.

Chaotix Detective Agency

"Uh, yes." she started. "I'm Synge, and I was wondering if you had the ability to find a certain droid for me. I have at least $20, though I was saving it to go to Twinkle Park with my friends."

Station Square

"Looks like he has a fan too. Maybe you should join up with him, and become Batman/Robin thing." Fang said with another grin. "My name's Fang, Fang the Sniper."

On the other side of town, Omega nodded. "Thank you Vector. I will continue my search. If you learn anything, inform me, if you could."

Omega began for the door, when he turned "Yes, as for the pay, I was heading to the Mystic Ruins. Go to the large jungle where the remains of the old Echidna temple stands. Just beyond that point should be Eggman's Mystic Ruins base, which is unguarded. I have no intrest in money, and I'm sure there is some in the vault."

He walked out Team Chaotix's door,and continued his search.

-Station Square-

"Oh, I'm not a hero..." Martin said, rubbing the back of his head, "And I don't have any abilities! I heard that The Marvelous Meerkat can't be pierced by any weapons...So, I'd just get in the way."

-Chaotix Detective Agency-

"I'll just look you up in the phone book then," Vector said dryly as Omega left, "When will people learn it's easier just to pay us up front? Honestly..."

"We could probably find the robot..." Espio said, "But twenty dollars isn't enough, sorry."

"Yah," Vector spoke up, "That wouldn't even cover expanses for the day...Sorry kid."

Chaotix Detective Agency

"Oh...well, OK then." she said with a depressed voice. "I guess I'll just hurry and catch up with my friends."

She then walked away.

Station Square

Zorac had walked what seemed like everywhere. He had to take a break, so he sat on the sidewalk.

"Oh god, where is she?" he asked himself.

Twinkle Park

Hemoth and Leiva had stood there for a while. The orange dragon was getting impatient.

"Hemoth, where are they?" she asked. He shrugged, "I have no idea."

Station Square

"Well then, aren't you the most knowledgable person on this guy? All you need is some technology, and you could be at that level." Fang smiled again.

But secretly, he hoped not to run into this Marvelous Meerkat. He was a mercenary, a criminal, and this guy could deter his progress. He also hoped that the next time he saw Didymus, it wouldn't be on the wrong side of his weapon.

"Hey, could either of you guys tell me where Chaotix is? I wanted to give them a friendly visit." Fang said.

On the other side of Station Square, Omega had continued his reluctant search for Rouge when he saw the dragon walk out of Chaotix grumbling. He turned and said, "Have you seen a bat, around eighteen? Or have you at least seen a black hedgehog?"

Station Square

"A friendly visit? You know the Chaotix?" Didymus asked Fang.

Meanwhile, Rouge was walking along the street again, with a bag hanging from one of her arms. Out of it, she drew a croissant, and bit into it.

I suppose paying for my own meals once in a while is alright... she thought.

Station Square

Synge looked back at Omega. "Sorry. I never seen them." she answered.

"Have you seen a silver droid that looks like one of those Star Wars characters?" she asked him.


Meanwhile, Zorac got up from the sidewalk, and kept moving.

Prison Island

"Humans." Shadow spat. He watched them as they got combat ready, no doubt due to his arrival. Humans were so predictable. He watched as more troops showed up, all of them avoiding looking at where he was standing. Some would pretend to clean their weapons only to have the barrel pointed at him. Pathetic.

Shadow blinked out of existence only to reappear on the very tip of the landing platform, where everyone could see him. "I need to see Eggman." Shadow said simply, glaring down any who challenged him. He begin to walk forward slowly, awaiting the military's reply to his demand.

Prison Island

One soldier, rather than try to level any legal terms at him, or demand that he leave, simply asked Shadow, "Why?"

Station Square

"Knew them? I was part of them." Fang said with a grin. "Part of the original. As you know, there's Vector, Espio, and Charmy. Back in the day, there was also Me, Mighty, Knuckles, Heavy, and Bomb. But soon, Knuckles left, Heavy drowned and Bomb imploded or something. I left the Team, because I found better work."

Meanwhile...
