Title: Shadow's Family
Description: ...as the title says. :P
Clown Prince of Crime - March 27, 2006 05:11 PM (GMT)
I'm sure a lot of you guys have been playing Shadow the Hedgehog if you haven't been playing Sonic Riders... or maybe even if you have. No reason ya can't play both. Anywho, I didn't shade or highlight this, but I was trying to go for a style that's different than what ya usually see. Hope it's not a fugly style, and most of all, that you guys like it. So, what'cha think?
Oh... and ya, I know it seems weird for Shadow to be smiling, but go with it.

Dude, that is AWESOME.
Shadow, Maria and Gerald! Sweet! I actually like the no shading style. Good job Spoony.

Thanks, guys. So, no critiques? If there's something wrong with it, let me know. I won't improve if I don't hear what I'm doing wrong. :p

Dude, if I knew how to draw, I might be able to point out what, if anything, you've done wrong -- but since I suck at art, I'm afraid I can't help you.
All I know is that picture is AWESOME like I can't even describe.

Did someone say "critique"???
I swear I heard that word! And now, I'm here to offer "constructive criticism"!!!
*Gets clubbed and beat to near-death*
Check, please...
Ok, back to business.
Let us begin with #1: Crookedness. Yes, I'm sure you have noticed it, and I have noticed it, and if the world saw it you would have no end to smashing and horrible comments on how this entire pic is out of proportion. But I won't do that. I'm not evil... Not during critique time. So the crookedness and inequality of lines and face is one.
2: Flat. No feel of reality or three-dimensional outcropping. It might be your style or it might be something else, but shading always made a pic look better.
3: Somewhat unproportional. Keep in mind that the proportion of the human body is based on the golden center principle that Da Vinci has come up with. I can go on a tirade about how proportions work, but it won;t help any unless you specifically asked for it.
4: Here is where we get specific. Maria's head is somewhat flattened, and her lower lip is just too big to be a girl's. The hand is too big for her entire body size, especially since she is a human and follows specific rules in body shape. Also, her face has the outsticking quality of your other character, Elric the ape. It does not suit her.
5: Gerald Robotnik. The man's moustache is side-skewed, and his entire face seems to be higher on his left than the right, aking ear placement completely off. His hand is too big yet again, no one ever stands that stiffly, ESPECIALLY Robotnik who hunches over. And his legs are not drawn to any proportion at all, completely thin and incapable of supporting such a body mass.
6: Shadow. His spikes are supposed to be smaller and slightly thicker, and his face more rounded instead of elliptical. Think of a mobian face as a circle with spikes sticking out. The eye like is too sharp, he looks as if he is falling backwards and the tuft of white hair on his chest is unrecognizeable. The fingers on his right hand are also too large in comparison to his other hand.
...Okay... I know, I know, bricking time.
But this is what I saw wrong and could be fixed.
...Sorry!!!
*Is bricked nevertheless*

LE GASP! Great Job Cpoc. I hope you have more pics for us.
Oh and Ha....Do you have a masters degree in critizsm?
Clown Prince of Crime - March 30, 2006 05:01 PM (GMT)
Well, HA, although I know that Gerald's legs are quite thin, that really is how they are for him, as well as his grandson. Though for a real person that kind of anatomy is impossible, it isn't for a Robotnik, it seems. Other than that, I guess there's nothing I can say against your critique, as all your other viewpoints are quite valid. Mind you, I won't do this picture over again, but I'll keep those things in mind for when I do another picture.
HellAvatar - March 30, 2006 09:19 PM (GMT)
Yes. I am brutal.
Sorry!!! u_u;
But yes. Art is learning, really, and the more mistakes you see the more mistakes you can fix. And the more mistakes you can fix, the more mistakes you avoid during your next work of art.
That's how it works. I have so far given this type of criticism to several others, and am proud to say that I have had a hand (if a small one) in some great works of art.
Sorry, CPoC, but you asked for criticism and I answered to the challange.
... Am I really that horrible?
Clown Prince of Crime - March 31, 2006 08:46 PM (GMT)
Not really, HA. I asked for critiques, so I'm glad you answered the call. I wanted to hear what you said. Although, I have to admit, you found more wrong with my picture than I thought anyone would. ^_^; But, I can learn from all of it.
