Title: The 5 Symbols of Power.
Description: The beginning.
HellAvatar - July 9, 2005 11:22 PM (GMT)
A black cape billowed in the wind, showing the inside trip, which was yellow-colored. Hair swaying in the wind, the man... No, Demi-feline... Was standing in the gusts of wint atop the highest hill, overlooking the vast plains of Calidia and the fortress of Moorflame. He has just come from this fortress, where some of the greatest heroes in the world, some of the strongest men ever to come from any corner of the entre continent. Lynx emerged as one of the top 10 fighters, and he was still amazed at how he has done it. He sighed, closed his eyes, turned his back on the castle, pread his arms, and let out a great, lion-like growl of victory. He has passed the ultimate trial he set upon himself. Now... Now was time to relax.
He fell back onto the grass, and looked up at the sky. It has been a long time since he has seen the light of day, being imprisoned in that castle's dungeons for half a year... All because a man he despised has framed him for murder. Agaven growled at the memory of this, and then sighed. The man was dead now, for he was one of the fighters in the castle who fell to the Berserker, who got so mad at the man's taunts, that it was impossible to stop him from ripping the other limb from limb. Lynx calmed down, breathing deeply. He got up with a front-flip off his back, and stood up straight. It was finally over...
Whistling the tune he has learned when he was a little child, he walked forward, away from the fortress...
Who knew, that soon the symbol of power would reveal itself, and Lynx and 4 people has never even met would be sucked into the greatest adventure he has ever experienced...
(Good luck, guys.)

The darkness of the tomb was broken by a solitary light coming through the ceiling along with a creature. The creature's name was Nexius, a powerful cybernetically-enhanced mutant with prodidgious strength and a symbol on the back of his claw.
He walked through the dust and stone to acheive his prize, a small artifact on a pedestal. He picked it up gingerly and placed it in an airtight compartment. This peice of history was a scroll, a record of ages long since dead. It would fit right in with the others in his collection.
He leapt out of the tomb. This was what he did; he was a treasure hunter. Little did he know he wouldn't be for long; for the symbol on his claw would prove to carry far more importance than he had ever realized. ((*bum bum buuum* XD ))

Deep within the thickest and darkest of forests dwelt Palmenril of the Silverlake Clan. He had been raised on the shores of Silverlake, one of the Elf-Homes in the area. He was young, for an elf, being only two-hundred and forty-two years of age. For mortal men, that was several lifetimes; but for his kind it was still the hairs of youth. Palmenril had spent his early life as an adventure-seeking ruffian, and he had traveled the world and learned much about the art of combat. Then, at the young age of only fifty-two, he'd met a very old and very wise elf who taught him there was more to life than flashy swords and bright spears. The old elf had taught him the arts of magic, and Palmenril had become a mage from that day on.
For years he'd lived in the old tower in the heart of the forest, communing with nature and learning to study, appreciate and harness the intense magical element that nature provided to all living things. Magic was the gift of nature, although most failed to notice it. Humans were too rash and quick in life, and dwarves... were dwarves. They could harness magic alright, but only cruedly and then they only used the skills to forge weapons. No, it took a elf to truly understand the nature of magic, and the nature of the world.
Palmenril was that elf. He smiled to himself as he yawned. He was an adventerous, free-spirit soul, and he'd been cooked up in this stuffy old tower for far too long. There was no life left in these woods for a thrill-seeker such as he, so he made up his mind to leave the woods.
Strapping on his mythril armor and taking up his thin, double-bladed katana, Palmenril was out the door of his tower without another word, humming an old elf song as he strolled along. He had no clue that the adventure he went looking for would be greater and bigger than anything he could ever have imagined...

In the temple Sage held his sword up to the trolls throat." Its over Valkron." He said as he slit the trolls throat. Another day another bounty.Sage was a bounty hunter/hero.This was just one of his many aspects. He looked at his gloved hand where that symbol on his hand was. It could be seen even through his gloves. He joked saying the wierdest tattoo he ever got. He had this funny felling inside of him all the time. Like he was supposed to do something important. For a human he was very lucky. As he walked out he took Valkrons ring off his fingers time to go get paid he thought.

The sun began to rise as the early birds began to chirp their morning song. The wind blew and the bitter air made the lonely girl shover where she sat. She looked over at the town that stood not far from where she lived. She then lied down and lifted her hand over her face, making the symbol on the back of her hand visable. She sighed and put her hands behind her head. Gerri thought today was going to be another boring day, There were few days that weren't boring for her, sinced nothing seemed to move fast enough.
But today was going to be anything but boring...
((Eh, teh post wasn't as long as I'd hope it would be, but it gets teh job done))
HellAvatar - July 10, 2005 10:22 PM (GMT)
Far away from all the 5 to-be-heroes, a dark shadow closed the sun off, creating a splotch of land that seemed tainted, evil, darkened by some foul power. Then, this little area began to spread, as something rose in the center. In moments, a rumbling came, the earth split, and a gigantic castle, with a tower capped by a black dragon statue rose from beneath.A dark aura seemed to surround the area, as the tower seemlingly awoke, and started to spin on it's foundation, it's great gates facing North. And inside, a being a woke... A demon opened his eyes and grinned,. It was finally the time to destroy...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lynx was whistling his tune, when suddenly, he felt a sharp pain on the back of his hand. He looked for the source, and stared as the symbol on his hand started to glow white. Then he looked around, and saw that the symbol was causing some kind of shift... wisps of power trailed around him, as everything was suddenly turned pitch-black, with only a glowing disc of white under his feet. Then it dropped, and a sensation of falling came to his senses. When he "Landed", he was in a tower of some sort... He was standing in a ring that depicted his symbol inside, facing a pedestal with some sort of jewel on it. The pedestal was also in a ring of the same sort, and a line of white light was circling the area where Agaven stood, extending to the pedestal, around which the ring was also glowing.
The strange thing was, that the 4 other lines began to extend from the pedestal to the other 5 rings... Each a different color (Strength is a red symbol, Speed is yellow, Magic is blue, Random is grey and Power is white), they created 4 more rings of glowing light, and the symbols on the ground began to glow...
GoldenSama - July 10, 2005 10:43 PM (GMT)
"Valdari, Valdara, Valdari, Valdara hahahaha..." Palmenril was heading down the forest path, humming an old elf-song, when suddenly something unbelieveable and strange happened to him. In all his almost-three hundred years of life, he'd never felt anything like it. A sharp, searing pain from the back of his hand. It was that hand that held the old, ancient symbol tattoo. He never remembered how he'd gotten it, and even his with his vast knowledge of runes and symbols, he didn't know what it meant.
Then, suddenly, he was surrounded with light and he appeared in a room far from where he had been. Looking around, he noticed a large feline-like man standing not far away. Palmenril looked around the room, confused by what was going on.
"Strange..."
HellAvatar - July 10, 2005 10:56 PM (GMT)
Lynx stepped off the symbol, and looked around again. An elf seemed to appear in the place where the blue symbol was glowing. He studied the elf cutiously. It seemed that this one was a magician, long-isolated by the looks of it... Well, it was not really any of Agaven's buisness, so he wouldn't go ito this at all. He came up to the pedestal, and looked at the jewel in the center. It seemed to swirld with every color of the rainbow, reflecting somehow all that is, has been, will be, what might have been and chat can be.
Agaven looked around again. The room was small, and it was circular, like if it was the top of some very high tower. No windows were there, and the stone walls depicted the history of the entire world, from the days of early man to the modern day.
GoldenSama - July 10, 2005 11:04 PM (GMT)
Palmenril looked around the room and studied what there was to see. The jewel in the middle of the room, the feline-man, the five symbols on the ground, the history of the world as deipicted on the walls. He shook his head. This was indeed a strange occurance.
He said nothing. He just stood, soaking up all the information he could.
HellAvatar - July 10, 2005 11:09 PM (GMT)
Lynx looked at the elfin man again, after studying the walls. He knew, somehow, all of the information that was depicted there, as if he was somehow born with it. He was sure he never read it in any book or anything. He just knew it by heart and soul. So, time to change pace and direction, and try to find out WHY and HOW in HELL was he right here in the middle of hell knows where with a crystal and an elf.
"So... Looks like you are in the same jam as I am... You have ANY idea why we might be here?"
GoldenSama - July 10, 2005 11:18 PM (GMT)
Palmenril turned when the demi-feline addressed him. He shifted the weight from one foot to the other and threw his head back.
"I'm afraid I do not." He replied, still letting his eyes roam around the room. "Although, it intreagues me that this symbol I'm standing on is the same as the one on my hand. I doubt that is coincidence."
He studied the demi-feline in the room with him, and then he looked at the five glowing symbols. "I'd guess we can expect some company as well."
BlueRush - July 11, 2005 12:20 AM (GMT)
Nexius was walking away from the tomb when suddenly his claw burst into unexpected, unexplainable pain. He tried to tear his claw off to no avail; but before the pain could grow much worse (if that were possible), he sunk through a red hole in the ground and landed in front of a crystal.
Pre-found artifacts, apparently.
For a treasure hunter like him, this was going to be as easy as an NBA star dunking into a a 5-foot-tall kid's hoop.
Kimiko - July 11, 2005 12:31 AM (GMT)
"AH!" Gerri exclaimed, shooting up from where she lay in the grass. She clenched her eyes shut and held her hand tightly, feeling a sudden sting go through her entire arm. Then, she forgot about the pain for a second to notice that she was sinking into a glowing yellow hole. "WHA?!" She continued to sink until she appeared in a tower full of darkness and the pain finally went away. SHe stood up and rubbed her hand. "WHere am I?" She saw the other people in the room. "Who are you!?" She was begining to panic. "WHAT it going ON around HERE?!"
HellAvatar - July 11, 2005 12:45 AM (GMT)
"I have NO idea what is happening... And hey! No touching that thing! We don't know what it does yet?"
The crystal was now almost glowing, as if it was accumulating power from somewhere. Yet, another symbol was left, still glowing, the small-ish portal still opened. The last of the 5 was about to come... And then what? Well', he'd find out. Agaven looked around him, studied the newcomers, and weighted his chances.
BlueRush - July 11, 2005 01:08 AM (GMT)
Nexius looked at his new companions, apparently in the same fix as he. And look! Four more jewels! Perhaps this was a treasure-hunting contest. In any case, this was all far too easy. Nexius didn't like it.
"My name is Nexius," he said, "May I ask who you are?"
Kimiko - July 11, 2005 01:18 AM (GMT)
Between shivering in complete fear, Gerri managed to answer Nexius's question. "Gerri." She said. She collapsed to her knees and put her hands on her head. "But this is all just some crazy dream and I'm imagining being stuck in some weird place full of weird people. Soon the sky will turn purple and I'll wake up."
HellAvatar - July 11, 2005 01:43 AM (GMT)
"This isn't a dream... I guess we have to wait for the last one to show up... Then, I dunno. Something should happen... I wonder what..."
He walked around, keeping his hands open and tense, in case he needed to snap back to get his double-sided scythe which hung across his back. The crystal in the middle seemed to accumulate some sort of power, as if drawing some outside source... Maybe it was summoning? And if it was, what would happen if they all were here? Agaven could only wonder at these things, as he slowly traces a hand along a line on the wall. Wait a minute...
Agaven looked straight at the wall. There it was... The 5 symbols!
"Hey! Check this out!"
The symbols were arranged in a circle around a black symbol, a depiction of some great evil. A line led to the next even, which was resembled by a bloody sword: a battle. Then, the wall came back to the 5 symbols, stabbing the bloody sword straight through the black depiction in the middle...
"I think you should see this!"
Cojo - July 11, 2005 01:49 AM (GMT)
Sage meanwhile had just got paid and was on his next assignment. Just as he was out of town his hand started to glow. He looked at it and realized that a grey circle had encirlced him. Sage ran out of it but it followed him. When it caught up to him he backflipped out of the way only to fall face first down the grey circle. And land in a room with four others in there. Having landed on his face it hurt. " Where Where am I?"
GoldenSama - July 11, 2005 01:50 AM (GMT)
"I am Palmenril Silverlake." He introduced himself to the others in a calm voice, keeping his head leveled and his mind at ease. As strange and potentially dangerous as this day was shaping up to be, he had to keep his wits about him. When the demi-feline suddenly spoke up, Palmenril ran over to his side and looked at the symbols he was talking about. After studying them for a moment, he leaned back and tossed some of his hair out of his eye.
"Hmm. The symbol I appeared on matches my tattoo." He glanced at Agaven and smirked. "And I see you too have a symbol on your hand, and it matches one of the five carved on this wall, and on the floor."
He continued to study the picture. "It would appear that we have been summoned for a task. From the looks of things, a battle, or war, against something. Probably something very evil, from the coloration used. Although I cannot be sure. These runes are very old, even by Elf-standards. Wherever we are, and whoever built this place, used some sort of magic even older and more complex than my people.... of course, I'm just guessing." He admitted.
Then he turned to Agaven. "What do you think?"
HellAvatar - July 11, 2005 01:57 AM (GMT)
"I'm not knowledgeable in the ways of magic, and I used to skip out on the lessons back in Lian-Shar, but I remember something. A legend of some sort, involving 5 symbols... Ever heard that one? The 5 warriors of fate and the 5 symbols of power? Maybe this is it... Question is, how in HELL did we happen to posess these symbols? And why us?"
Suddenly, the crystal in the middle of the room exploded in a vortex of swirling light. All the power from the 5 symbols drawn on the ground retreated into the pedestal, and the walls suddenly cracked, moving apart like a penta-petal flower. The crystal rose higher, and shot a brilliant-shite beam into the sky, spreading brilliance and a sense of peace everywhere it touched. It surrounded the tower like a glowing sphere.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The demon in the black tower watched as the opposition was awakened, and watched the tower of the 5 open up and spread it's protection. Damn. This would be harder than he thought, for the light protected the tower itself, and it was a safe haven until all of the 5 heroes were destroyed.
The demon growled... This was going to be interesting indeed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lynx looked around. The tower was now suspended on a temple-like staircase, rosing high into the sky. The beam of light continued shining upwards, without any sign of relenting. So this was...
"Hey, Palmenril, or whatever your name is... You think this is the tower of the 5? Because this was sure described this way in the legends that I have heard..."
GoldenSama - July 11, 2005 02:03 AM (GMT)
Palmenril scratched his chin.
"Yes... I've heard that legend before too. However, I never would have imagined it was a real tale."
He looked down at the symbol on his hand. If the legend the demi-feline was speaking about was true, then they were the five warriors chosen to battle against a great evil. It was an amazing possibility, but it seemed to be proving true so far.
"To answer your other questions: Yes, I do believe this is that very temple. It sounds very similiar to everything I have ever heard of it. As for why us.... I wish I knew."
Palmenril furried his brow. "Perhaps we will recieve our answers when the entire group is here. Or perhaps we are on our own to discover them."
BlueRush - July 11, 2005 03:08 AM (GMT)
"The Tower of the Five?" said Nexius, mostly to himself. This right here wasn't a peice of history; it was history. He walked over to the elf and the demi-feline. "Why wait? Let us explore before something else happens." He walked toward the stairs, so interested in the excitement of the past that his role in the present did not concern him at the moment.
HellAvatar - July 11, 2005 03:33 AM (GMT)
Wait a second... Agaven kept studying the wall, and saw several things that irked him. For one, the evil they had to defeat was the same one as vefore, only now more powerful... And the second...
"Hey, Palmenril... The evil that was defeated years ago... What EXACTLY was it, according to legend?"
Agaven sounded taut and nervous when he asked that question... For the writing on the wall said that the evil was the greatest of demons...
Kimiko - July 11, 2005 03:42 AM (GMT)
"WAIT A MINUTE!" Gerri shouted after keeping quiet for a while. "Legends, towers, magic; I don't care about that stuff. I wanna know EXACTLY what is happening and I wanna know NOW!" She began to pant from shouting so loudly and noticed that everyone ignored her request. "HELLO?! Am I the only one who's freaked out here? Am I the only normal person here?!"
Cojo - July 11, 2005 03:52 AM (GMT)
" No I am here too Sweet thang!"
HellAvatar - July 11, 2005 03:58 AM (GMT)
Agaven turned around and faced Gerri, who seemed to be more confused than any of them.
"Well then, let me explain. Apparantly, the symbols that we have had on the backs of our hands since birth actually mean something. The symbols go back to the legends of the ancient times, when 5 heroes have defeated some sort of a great evil that threatened the world. Apparantly, the symbols that those 5 had are the same symbols we carry. Which means that we 5 have apparantly been chosen in replacement of the 5 heroes from so long ago to combat something yet again.
But then, there are the questions: First, why us. I still don't get why I have had to be one of the chosen. Second, is where exactly are we. I do not know the exact location of this tower, so I cannot navigate from here. All I know, is that the sun is over there, which means we are somewhere in the southern regions of the continent. We are not completely sure yet of what's going on too, since the evil we have to battle..."
He suddenly has thought of a possibility. And he kept on thinking...
Kimiko - July 11, 2005 04:22 AM (GMT)
Gerri shivered again. "Well, I want some answers, and I'm not just gonna stand around here until I get some." She started walking away towards the exit to the room and slowly turned the doorknob. "I wonder if there's anyone else in this creepy place. Maybe they have a fireplace or somethingl it's freezing aorund here."
GoldenSama - July 11, 2005 03:38 PM (GMT)
"I would not exit this room, if I were you." Palmenril said swiftly in a sure tone. He walked over so that he was in the center of the room, so that everyone could hear him.
"Please listen to me. According to the legends told by my people, the five heroes defeated a great demon. A demon said to be more powerful than any other. If, indeed, we are facing a repeat of the legend, then the five of us are in a posistion we cannot escape from."
He leaned back. "The fact that we were all brought here, and the fact that we have these symbols means this is something we can't avoid. It was a form of ancient magic that brought us here, so even if we left, we would most likely only return. More importantly, if we are destined to battle this demon, as the wall symbols seem to tell, then we are all in danger."
He began to think. "We need answers. There must be something here that can give them to us. If we are to exit this room, we should do it together. I do not think splitting up would be wise."
HellAvatar - July 11, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
Lynx chuckled suddenly.
"Heh... We have seen each other just today... And we are already speaking as if we knew each other for a long time. Hey, maybe we HAVE, if the symbols have a conscience of their own. But here's my guess. If we exit, we should be on a staircase leading down to the entrance. The entrance is guarded by something that looks like a dragon statue, which if I am correct, becomes a real dragon if anyone without the symbols will try to enter.
I refuse though to work with people I do not know. Hey, how do I know one of you won't backstab any of us, thus gaining riches and eliminating the possibility of this world surviving. So I propose some introductions before we go anywhere."
GoldenSama - July 11, 2005 10:32 PM (GMT)
Palmenril nodded.
"You have a good point, and I don't blame you for your views. I have known many people for several years who I do not trust, so it would be impossible for me to trust any of you right away."
He stepped forward. "My name is Palmenril Silverlake. I am an Elf, from the Silverlake village deep in the forest. I have been trained as a Combat Mage. If we are to work together, that is fine with me..."
It was only half true. Palmenril was a bit worried about working with the others. He didn't trust people easily... although he was confident enough in his skills that he could protect himself, if he needed too.
BlueRush - July 11, 2005 10:34 PM (GMT)
"The same could be said of all of us, with or without introduction," said Nexius, "but my name is Nexius. I am a treasure hunter; I collect history. I find it hard to beleive that I can truly be one of The Five, though the symbol on my hand is indeed one of the legendary five symbols. Let us press on and see where we are; this may all be some ruse in the end."
Cojo - July 11, 2005 10:47 PM (GMT)
My name is Sage I am a bounty hunter/hero. This symbol has been on my hand since I was born. I, I am an orphan with no parents.
HellAvatar - July 11, 2005 11:10 PM (GMT)
Lynx half-smiled, and bowed formally.
"Agaven Lynx, monster hunter at your service. Also, don't mean to brag, but one of the top 10 in Duel City and an expertised elementalist and twin-scythe fighter. Born in the Leonin fortress Lian-Shar, I've gotten the call to be a monster hunter, was transported after my last battle and here I am. And dammitall, if this is all a ruse.
Just don't rely on me too much... Many say I can be unpredictable..."
He studied everyone.
"Hmm... So, now what? What DO these symbols mean anyways? Are they just simply marks? Or are they some sort of a power focus? Palmenril, what do you think?"
(Sorry for the double-post, guys, but... I guess that this RP is OFFICIALLY CLOSED!!! Yes, I know. We have not posted in this thing at all. It's a lot less interesting here than in the other roleplays, so yea. It's over, ladies and gents. This RP is cloooooooosed... And now it will haunt me... Egh...)
