Sad news for all Avatar TLA fans... I was just looking around on Deviant Art when I found out some horrible news.... At the age of 72, Mako the Voice Actor of Uncle Iroh died on July 21st from Cancer. Before he died he finished recording for the second season of Avatar but it is unsure what will happen after that.

He also provided the voice of Aku in Samurai Jack and was going to star as the voice of Master Splinter in the new TMNT movie along with many other credits...

A moment of silence for one of the best voice actors out there. It wont be the same...

This topic of discussion is obviously for the Americanime, Avatar: The Last Airbender.

If you don't know, Avatar airs on Nick and is about a boy named Aang, who happens to be the Avatar -- the only person capable of mastering all four main bending arts (Air, Water, Earth and Fire)

Aang was trapped in a iceburg for 100 years, and now with the help from his new friend Katara, Sokka and Toph, his lemar Momo and his flying bison Appa, he's got to master all four bending arts before the end of the year, when a comet will let the evil Fire Lord Ozai become unstoppable. There's a catch -- it usually takes years to master all four elements, and Aang only has months! Plus the ex-Prince of the Fire Nation, Zuko and his uncle Iroh are constantly chasing them -- as is now Zuko's sister Azula and her friends Ty Lee and Mai.

It's a really, really, really good show. :3 Srsly. I know many of you watch it, but if you don't, you should. It's got comedy, action, romance and dramaful moments. It's a full-fledged anime, only difference is it was made by America, not Japan.

My favorite character is between Aang and Ty Lee XD Aang's so adorable-- he's gotta save the world by the end of the summer, but all he really wants is to get Katara to like him. XP
And Ty Lee is one of my favorite types of character-- bubbly and happy like, all teh time. XD "Is it just me, or was that guy kinda cute?"

How I love Avatar, been watching it since it came out with the two part special everyone here just thought was a Nick movie. It has to be one of (if not) the best American anime out there!!!

My favorite character is Katara and Iroh ^_^ How I love them both! Katara is hopefull and almost always has a level head and Iroh is the most random guy ever XD

Ahh, the show about the pictures below everyone's names on messageboards... Good show. Very good show. I've only seen two episodes (26 and 28, because I like getting in in the middle of the action XD ), but I already know it's good stuff. And yes, two episodes is enough for me to form an opinion.

My favorite character, even though I've not really seen much of the show, is Toph (even if her VA makes her sound 6-8 years old), and a close second is Sokka, because I almost always like funny characters.

Avatar is an excellent show, but not the best americanime by any stretch of the imagination. It is the second best, but it never stood a chance, frankly.

That being said, being compared to the above show is the highest compliment I can give any show! ^_^ And it definitely compares. Again, Mako lent his genius here; I voted for Iroh. ;D He lent to Avatar what Harris lent to Harry Potter. ;_;

It's just an awesome show. A great blend of silliness, seriousness, wackiness and wisdom; its plot moves quickly, but they have a pretty much static storyline that makes fanficcing easy; and it basically rules. Good and evil, a load of Bhuddist and Eastern references no other show can really bring, Avatar is just a symbolic supermarket of monk-y goodness.

I also love the fact that this isnt based on Japanese culture like many other anime are ^_^ The Chinese history and style is amazing and doesnt get that much representation in shows. That and after the sucess of some american Japanese anime chanels think they can toss out a million rip offs (Kappa Mikey for instance *shudder*)

I REALLY like how each Bending Art has it's own Chinese fighting style. That's something I wish Naruto had-- different fighting style for every character or clan.

I don't usually fall for wondering shows (like, when the characters are just going around, looking for something randomly), but Avatar actually has an agenda and mission, and even a time limit.

And the characters are truely memorable. They each scream something different, and seeing people who are so different become involved in a twisted tale of fate is just soooo much fun...

Avatar rules. I used to hate the show, but now I adore it. Sokka is my favorite. He's the main comedic genius of the show, plus he has a wicked awesome sweet boomerang. How many characters have a boomerang people?

Avatar! One of my favorite American animes! Not my absolute favorite though...

Anyhow, I agree with Cojo here. Sokka is my favorite. I almost always like the comedy relief guy!

Jet v. Zuko was awesome. Zuko's always cool when he brings out those swords. Not that those were his Blue Spirit swords, but they looked just like them, and it doesn't matter if it's his swords or not; he still pwns with swords. :D

Jet... I like Jet. But it looks like Jet got his mind erased; just like that CREEPY SMILE LADY!

You know, if you take Gaara's eyes and that Lady's smile... GAAAH! >_< You'd get a really scary thingy. Like as scary as the chicken! *CR will get that joke. XD*

I loved Aang's reaction to seeing Katara (and Toph) all dressed up. Heheh... and then Sokka flicks him. XD

When (I say when because Avatar is very good about romance) Aang and Katara DO hook up, I want to see Sokka's reaction. Actually, I don't think I can wait... but we have DC... mwahahahah! My evil planning-ness is back! I knew it wouldn't stay gone for long! :D

And that guy... the evil creepy Earth Nation guy.... He know where Appa is! >:O

I see now. The Earth Kingdom hired the Sand Benders to kidnap Appa so they could control Aang.

But... The Earth Kingdom doesn't seem interested in war... Ozai is probably going to PWN them.

Yeah... Azula, Ty Lee and Mai will show up and pwn the Earth Kingdom, and Aang is gonna have to defeat them, and then and only then will the Earth Kingdom accept him.

That, of course, will be the season finale.

Remember? Toph was the only person guarding Appa! So when Aang saw Toph, it wasn't because Toph is going to die; it's because she fails to save Appa and THAT'S the important thing that Aang loses!

Zuko's mom was no where to be found... Katara's mom...

if for some stupid reason, happens later on in this series, I will cease to watch this show. Toph is easily my favorite character, as well as one of the main reasons I decided to watch this series at first (after all the talk here about this, I decided to check it out, and knowing that some people I know from other places {who have very similar tastes to my own} really liked Toph, the first episode with her in it was the one I decided to watch first on youtube. So yeah, no-more-Toph = very unhappy DP.
