It's around in case anybody has anything important to add to the thread. Posting in an old topic is okay if you have something new to add. But you've brought up a lot of really old topics and when someone does that, it pushes down the active topics.

The First English Episode

They are certainly trying too hard to sound like the original cartoon....In my opinion it's not working...

That and OMG when they talk together my head hurts

Though I do like Blossom's voice....And Ms. Bellum...and Ken too :3

Wow... I was wondering why it was taking so long for it come over here and now I'm still wondering why it took so long. <_<

Seriously, the Japanese version seems to be much better than this. The girls definitely shouldn't sound like the original PPG because they're completely different people. Blossom and Ken sound alright, but... I dunno. My biggest gripe is that they're trying too hard to make this like the original cartoon (which it's FAR from) and they replaced the cool music with crappy music.

I dunno how many people will share my opinion, but here's the way I look at it:

English Dub of PPGZ <<<<<<< PPGZ <<<<<<<<<<<<<< Original PPG

I like PPGZ, even if I don't like it as much as the original cartoon, but... this dub of PPGZ is quite horrid. DX

I never really watched the original series, nor this series in Japanese, but even so, what I see at that link doesn't seem all that good. I would really hope that the un-dubbed version is a lot better than that (and a bad dub can really make a program that isn't that bad undubbed look like it's really horrible, ala 4kids One Piece), because as that stands at that link, it's definitely unwatchable to me.

I'll have to try to avoid any bricks CR might hurl at me for saying this, but... *cough* the undubbed version isn't exactly a masterpiece, if you ask me. ^_^;

HOWEVER, it's definitely better than the English dub by leaps and bounds!

But, both of them make me miss the awesomeness that was the original Craig McCracken's Powerpuff Girls. :(

Oh! And actually, if you do happen to be interested in the undubbed version of Powerpuff Girls Z, the first twelve episodes are available for viewing in the Anime Theater Zone. Hmmm... I really need to learn to update that forum more frequently.

OMG.......All those clips bring back so many memories! I love the original cartoon! Nothing can replace the original awesomeness of the show :3

But I do love the Japanese version too. I like how it can be a lot more serious than it's American couterpart at times. That and a few of the storylines were really well done like the one with Takaaki and Miyako (Bubbles). :D

The Good

Original
-Has a better version of "Him"
-Has the girls as the prof's daughters
-Has a silly/stupid mayor
-Has Tara Strong (one of the best VAs EVER) as Bubbles

Anime
-Has a funnier "Princess"
-Has Ken and Peach <3
-Gives a good amount of backstory and plot
-Is serious at times
-Has cuter outfits :D
-Has Takaaki if you know who he is :3

The Bad

Original
-Sometimes bordered the "I can't watch/don't want to watch this because it's getting violent" when it first came out and I was like 9 or 10. I remember my mom getting mad cause it wa the first cartoon I watched that had blood in it XD

Anime
-What in the world happened to "Him"? He turned Joker creepy.....
-The dub......Enough said

Personally, I think Princess is funnier than Himeko, but that's just me. :p

But, ya, the anime does tend to be serious every now and then while the original cartoon was pretty much non-stop comedy (with the exception of the movie, which did have MANY serious moments). Speaking of the movie, it actually does set up a backstory for the girls and for Mojo Jojo.

I haven't gotten to the "Him" episodes of PPGZ yet, but I have seen pictures of him. He looks... pretty different.

One can't help but compare the original PPG to PPGZ, but in all truthfullness, they're just sooooooo different.

x_X Good gravy, though, I hate that dub. Honestly, I hated it so much I didn't actually watch the whole thing. I clicked out of the tab about halfway through. ^_^;
