Title: Naruto
Description: I need help... I know nothing!
BlueRush - January 15, 2006 09:20 PM (GMT)
Okay. It's reached a point that when I read Kimi's posts I actually skip over them because I have NO idea what the Naruto people are doing. ^_^; I used to do that all the time in the first Secret Wars, but this time I actually know a little about Digimon and FMA... but I'm still sketchy on Naruto. >_<;;
All the sites I visited were NO help. Basic info? They live in a village that was attacked by a fox and now the fox is inside Naruto and that's why some people hate them. And they're ninjas. News flash, I already knew that.
And EVERY characters section I could find went alphabetically, so all of the IMPORTANT characters are hiding inbetween Naruto's distant cousin from Peru who was seen inside a door frame in one episode and Naruto's distant cousin from Bolivia who was seen inside a door frame in one episode.
Point is: Can somebody give me the gist of Naruto? Some things I want to know are:
~Who are the main characters? What do they act like, look like, etc.?
~What's the setup? Is it a world full of ninja villages and monsters or 5th century Japan with big cities elsewhere and stuff?
~What's a jutsu? Can ninjas do magic or what?!
~When on Earth does it come on? Where are the Mangas? Etc.?
In an effort to make it seem like this topic isn't ALL about me and what I want to know, I'm going to say the sentence, "I hope this will help others who were confused about Naruto as well." But I don't really mean it.
I hope this will help others who were confused about Naruto as well. :)
(( The smilie face is to make it seem like I mean it. ))
J0HA - January 15, 2006 09:24 PM (GMT)
Oi. This would help greatly XD I've only seen a few episodes of Naruto, and it seems cool.
*waits patiently for Kimi XD*
Dark Phazon - January 15, 2006 09:26 PM (GMT)
Well, the show is on Toonami (Saturday night Cartoon Network) generally at 9pm EST, but many times they've thrown it up throughout multiple times in the Toonami block. I can't help with anything else, because I don't really think it's all that interesting, and don't watch it.
GoldenSama - January 15, 2006 10:16 PM (GMT)
SK will know. No worries.
Kimiko - January 15, 2006 10:44 PM (GMT)
-steps onto podium- All rise for Super Kimi, who will answer all of BR's questions.
The Mains Characters are:
Uzumaki Naruto: The spunky, abnoxious, and rebellious child that contains the nine-tailed fox inside of him by means of a seal on his stomach, given to him by the Forth Hokage, who died to save the village. He is now a junior level ninja (or Genin) under the teachings of Kakashi Hatake, finding his way in the world and learning to become the Hokage he wishes to become. He has a huge crush on Sakura, though his love will never be requited due to her own crush on Sasuke.
Uchiha Sasuke: The raven-haired heart-throb of the village, who hates Naruto along with many other things. He is the greatest young fighter of Konoha, while Naruto is the worst. THough as fate would have it, he and Naruto end up on the same three-man squad (as all ninja missions are carried out in three-man squads). Now, he simply thinks that Naruto and Sakura (another Sasuke Fangirl) are keeping him down while he could be getting strong enough to kill his brother Itachi, who killed EVERY member of the clan Uchiha and ran away, leaving Sasuke to hate him and live without honor. He carries the kekkei genkei, or bloodline trait, known as the Sharingan Miiror Wheel eye, that copies enemy ninjutsus (ninja arts) and genjutsus (illusion). He is also a master of the Fire Style methods, which take a LOT of chakra.
Haruno Sakura: The most intellegent and studious of all the rookie genin in Naruto's class (though it isn't show much in teh dub), this kunoichi (or female ninja) has completely mastered the art of chakra control, and can deploy chakra to any part of her body. She has surpasted all, even her love, Sasuke, in this catagory of ninja training. While she considers herself a full-fledged shinobi, she has longed to live up to her arch-rival and ex-best friend, Yamanaka Ino, and surpass her. Ino gave her confidence and told her not to hide her high forehead from those cruel children who would mock her. Now, Sakura wears her headband like a ribon to keep her hair back and show off her forehead. During the chunin exams, Sakura chopped off her long pink hair (even though she heard that Sasuke liked girls with long hair) to save her team mates and take her skills to the next level. Such a sacrifice did just that, and now she fights with pride, knowing that she can do anything with the help of her fellow genin and the strength within her.
Hatake Kakashi: Naruto, Sasuke, and Naruto's jonin (or elite ninja) sensei (or teacher). He's smug, cool, and a total pervert (XD This he keeps secret most times, though it bubbles to the surface when he reads the X-rated novel known as "Make-Out Paradice"). Before Naruto's team, not a SINGLE team EVER passed his exams, never being able to understand the concept of teamwork that is so essential to ninja missions. He beleives in all three of his genin students, and will do anything to protect them. He, like Sasuke, also has the Sharingan Mirror Wheel eye, though he is NOT a member of Sasuke's clan Uchiha. His eye was GIVEN to him by a long lost (dead) friend who took out his own Sharingan eye and gave it to Kakashi. Now, he visits his friends gave whenever he can, which is why Kakashi is ALWAYS late to meet Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke. Abtained the rank of chunin (or journey man ninja) at age 6, and his skills have earned him a rival: Master Maito Gai, Tenten, Lee, and Neji teacher.
WILL WRITE MORE LATER
EDIT: -cracks knuckles-
OTHER MAIN CHARACTERS INCLUDE:
Yamanaka Ino: Self proclaimed leader of the Asuma Cell, or Cell #10, made up of Nara Shikamaru, Akimichi Choji, and herself. Sakura's ex-best friend and arch-rival is extremely skilled, though far from the best. Her signature technigue, the Shintentshin no Jutsu (or Art of the Valentine) gives her the ability to take over a person's body, heart and soul. She uses this technique in concert with her team mates while Shikamaru freezes them with his own technique. Ino is stubborn, over confident, and self abosorb, considering herself thw village knock-out with her long blonde hair. Like Sakura, she's fallen head-over-heels for Sasuke, and refuses to let Sakura show her up, which is shown during the chunin exams when she chops of her OWN hair to show that she can make sacrifices too. As children, Ino and Sakura were inseperable, and Ino would protect Sakura from children who would amke fun of her. As a gift, Ino put up Sakura's hair with her own ribbon, telling her to strike a pose and show off her high forehead (tHough Sakura returned the ribbon to her when they graduated from the academy, telling Ino that she would NEVER beat her now that Sasuke was on her team). The two of them agreed that they would only wear their headbands on their foreheads when they wre ready to face each other as full-fledged shinobi (or ninja).
Nara Shikamaru: Another member of the Asuma Cell, who uses the Kagemane no Jutsu (or The Art-of-Me-and-my-Shadow) to make his opponent do as he does for a short period of time by attaching their shadow to his own. He's cynical, mean, and down-right negative. He hates EVERYONE... except maybe Ino and Choji, since he's gotten close to them in his squad. I don't know a lot about Shikamaru, but as we get farther into the manga, I'll let you know what I learn.
Akimichi Choji: Choji, while cowardly, will rush into a fight with anyone who dares call him a certain name: FAT. He can't stand when people say this, and he'll claim that he's "pleasingly plump." Master of the kekkei genkei Baika no Jutsu (or The Art of Expansion) gives him the ability to expand his weight ten-fold. He's pretty short (not in size, but in temper) and likes to inflict pain on Naruto XD
Sarutobi Asuma: Uh... he's Ino, Shikamaru, and Choji's teacher, another jonin. He smokes... but that's all I really know about him.
WILL CONTINUE LATER

*bows*
And Kimi strikes again! How DOES she do it? Kimi, I have baked you a cake on a job well done :]
BlueRush - January 15, 2006 11:04 PM (GMT)
~le gasp~!!
Cooool!! Thanks!! :D
VOCAB for me to study XD
Hokage - totally awesome dude who pwns all
Genin - junior level ninja
Ninjutsu - ninja arts
Genjutsu - illusions
Kunoichi - female ninja
Jonin - elite ninja
Chunin - journey man ninja
Major thanks, Super Kimi! You've saved the day once again!! ^_^
Kimiko - January 15, 2006 11:49 PM (GMT)
Thank you, thank you. I updated again on teh last post, and I shall put even more on this post.
EVEN MORE MAIN CHARACTERS ARE:
Hyuga Hinata: Hinata, like her cousin Neji, carries to kekkei genkei known as teh Byakugan (or Teh All-Seeing Evil Eye[i]. BR, for your study guide, notice that kekkei genkei traits do not proceed the word "jutsu", simply because it is not ninja art that one can learn), this enables her to zoom in on far away places (she can see, like, kilometers away from her!) and see a person like an x-ray (their bones, their organs, even their chakra!). The art of the clan Hyuga uses the fighting style known as the Juken (or [i]gentle fist) which she uses to attack her opponents keirakukei (a network of passageways that wrap around organs and allow chakra to flow through a ninja's body, hit those and the organs suffer too), which she can see with her Byakugan. SHe's shy, and can hardly even look Naruto in the eye, having the biggest crush on him. She's always watching him, mostly because watching Naruto be so strong makes her feel important, and that she can be strong as well. She used to be weak and give up on everything, so full of mistakes, but she tries to change herself so that Naruto will notice her. In the chunin exams, she risked death so that Naruto would see her trying to be strong (I know how pathetic that sounds, but she really IS tough).
Inuzuka Kiba and his dog, Akamaru: Kiba is the leader of the Kurenai Cell, and the worst wild man amoung the 3 genin teams. His always throwing his weight around, and is often seen pushing Hinata to be stronger and telling her and Shino what's what. His dog, Akamaru (who is ALWAYS with him) can sniff out enemy chakra, and together they've mastered the Jujin Bushin (or Man-Beast Doppel Gangers) where they double the trouble by having Akamaru transform into a perfect clone of his master! THough this technique is freightening, Naruto was able to defeat them in the chunin exams by farting right in his face XD It's true! Akamaru is a Ninken (or Ninja Dog, "ken" is a word for "dog").
Aburame Shino: OMIGOSH, this guy is SO creepy! His technique includes summoning bugs that feed off of his chakra from INSIDE of his body (they're called kikaichu or Parasitic Destruction Beetles). THese bug live in perfect harmony in SHino's body, and he can communicate with these bugs in order to steal information (such as he did in the chunin exams). He manages to relate EVERYTHING back to bugs. ><
Yuhi Kurenai: Hinata, Kiba, and Shino's teacher. SHe's a Kunoichi Jonin (put the two words together, figure it out XD), and a rookie amoug the other elite ninjas. She cares about her students... but hat's all I have on her for now.
THERE'S MORE! CAN YOU BELEIVE IT! Will write more later
HellAvatar - January 20, 2006 12:03 PM (GMT)
MAJOR SPOILER TIME!!!
There are some you are forgetting, Kimi...
For one, let me tell you that Shikamaru does not hate anyone. He just seems that way. The world is bothersome to him, and the one who is in most understanding of this character is his own father, who also seems to be the same type. Cool and logical, Shikamaru is a super-genius with an IQ of over 200 with a laziness to match it. He almost never stands up to a challange, and will do battle only when necessary. He DID fight Temari in the Chuunin exam, but just as he was about to win, he gave up. He also has something going on with Temari, but let's not go there. The thought itself is scaring me.
He likes a good challange, but once it is not challanging anymore, he does not keep the profits and just calls quits. Hey. No reason for it, Eh?
And I'm kinda obligated to defend this guy. He is definitely the best character in the entire manga in my opinion.
His favorite word of all time would probably be "troublesome".
Then...
Let's continue the name list, shall we?
Rock Lee: Another dreamer, just like Naruto, Rock Lee has no Ninjutsu or Genjutsu skills at all and is not capable of utilizing them. Nevertheless, his Taijutsu (art of the trained body) is so refined that he is capable of taking down most ninja with pure physical skills and no other weapons at all. It is so perfect, in fact, that he can take down most shinobi (male ninja) with his training weights still on his arms and legs. He wears these weights at all times: when he sleeps, when he trains and even when he duels. Called "thick-brows" by Naruto, Rock Lee is the very emotional type of guy, just like his personal favorite sensei: Maito Gai. His ultimate dream is to become the equal of any other ninja by just utilizing Taijutsu.
Side-note:
Ninjutsu: Art of the trained mind
Taijutsu: Art of the trained body
Genjutsu: Art of the trained spirit
Maito Gai (Gai-sensei): Gai is Rock Lee's teacher and is extremely vain 100% of the time. He and Rock Lee do not only look alike but also think alike, and they are like father and son to each other. Gai is the type of person that would make an impossible bet and raise the stakes to say 100 laps around the training area by hopping on one arm. Then, if he wins that bet, he is pleasantly surprised, and if not, he trains himself that much more. Although he can seem to be a pain in the *bleep* at times, he is Kakashi's rival and is capable of beating him half of the time. Always with his shiny white teeth out front, Gai is one of those guys that is not ashamed of flirting at his age.
Iruka Umuino: Iruka is not a very prominent figure throughout the story, but he is the one that brings out Naruto's true powers for the first time. He used to be Naruto's sensei when the yellow-haired kid was still back at the academy, and was the first teacher to pick on Naruto at any point. Nevertheless, both of them have had a very much similar past, and Iruka soon became like a father figure to Naruto, since they both share so many similarities. Iruka is your every-day ninja type who can utilize most basic attacks.
Itachi Uchiha: This guy is probably the next biggest bad-ass in the entire series right next to Orochimaru. Itachi is Sasuke's older brother, the brother that never played with Sasuke because he was "too busy". The brother that wiped out the entire Uchiha clan, leaving Sasuke behind to die. Itachi is probably one of the best users of Chakra in the entire series, and could probably subdue the Nine-Tailed fox demon down to a whimpering pile. Always calm and weak-looking, Itachi is NOT to be underestimated.
Gaara of the Sands: Yet another uber-badass, coming your way! Gaara is from a different village altogether, the Hidden Sand village. He utilizes sand that he can either extract from the ground or from the giant urn he carries on his back. Always seemingly cold-hearted, he is only so because he was born with a sand demon inside him, and thus he sees a reflection of himself in Naruto. Gaara's sand tank on his back also automatically protects him with a sand shield every time he is hit with anything, thus making for a nearly impenetrable defense that Gaara does not even have to think about. And his "Sand storm" and "Sand coffin" moves make him the ultimate killer. Not to mention the sand demon...
Sarutobi Sandaime: The Third Hokage of the Hidden Leaf village. The big man. The cream of the crop. The cherry atop the pie. The... Ahemm... The old geezer that does nothing but smoke his pipe and predict the future. XD As the Third Hokage, he has absolute control and power in the village, and is thus slightly resented by Naruto who wishes to become a Hokage himself.
SPOILER ALERT!!!
Unfortunately, the Third's reign is short-lived, and Orochimaru manages to pull off the kill, losing the soul parts of both his arms, thus unable to utilize any shinobi art. The Third is replaced by the Fifth: Tsunade.
And just to tell you, the fourth Hokage died, fighting the demon fox, which he imprisoned inside of Naruto in his last breath.
Orochimaru: One of the main evils in the game. Previously one of the three Sennin (Hokage-rank ninjas that struck out on their own), Orochimaru is the master of all things slithery and deadly. Obsessed with snakes and Sasuke, this guy would do anything to get his hands on Itachi's yopunger brother and transform him into one of his own followers and minions. He hails from the Hidden Sound.
Jiraiya "Pervert Sennin": Ever imagined a man that could be even more perverted and freakish than Gai and Kakashi? Well, this guy's your man. Totally a pervert, the WRITER of "Make-out paradise", this guy's daily schedule includes about 14 hours of constant girl-chasing. HOW he manages to include all his other tasks like eating and sleeping, I do not know. Ask him. Nevertheless, under this seemingly interesting attitude (this guy totally flips out when Naruto uses his trademark move: The Sexy no jutsu...), Jiraiya is not a man to be underestimated. One of the three Sennin, he is the one that teaches Naruto how to control his powers and teaches him the Rasengan, a powerful move when Naruto used his Chakra to spin it in every which direction in a small ball in the palm of his hand. Jiraiya is also the only one of two who are capable of summoning the great frog: Gama. The second is Naruto himself.
Kabuto Yakushi: Orochimaru's right-hand man and a spy in the Konoha village. This guy rates pretty high up there, capable of taking on Kakashi at times. But mostly, he is a shady character that seems to know everything about everyone's weakness.
Kimimaro: This guy rates above Sasuke and Kakashi as one of the most badass guys in the entire series. This guy is the previous avatar which Orochimaru chose as his vessel for his immortality jutsu. Unfortunately for Orochimaru, he lost his ability to use that jutsu after he battled the Third. Kimimaro has powers over his own bones, and can create blades from his skeletal structure. He even makes a giant spear out of his own spine! And he could still move normally!
Tsunade: The third Sennin and the fifth Hokage. Big titles, huh? Well, she deserves it. The STRONGEST of all the shonobi in all the villages, Tsunade, though seems frail, could create earthquakes and canyons by smashing the ground with her leg or fist. Nevertheless, her healing skills are unmateched, and she can summon the great snail to help her.
SPOILER ALERT!!!
Tsunade used to be very much afraid of blood, since her boyfriend and brother died. Amazingly, her brother and Naruto look exactly like twins... XD But she saw something in Naruto that reminded her of her late brother, and she has overcome her fears and gave Naruto another chance to live. She is the master of the regenerative ninjutsu, capable of completely regenerating a slash made by a claymore in less than 5 seconds. And she can be VERY scary.
Of course, there are more characters than this. I have just listed the most prominent figures. There is the Hidden Sound team of three and many others that I have not mentioned.
Evolved world, huh?
... I know... I'm scared of what they'll come up with next, too...
But Naruto VS Kiba... Probably the FUNNIEST moment in the entire series. Just imagine having your sense of smell multiplied a thousand times over, and then something lets out gas right in your face... I don't even want to think what ran through Kiba's mind right at that moment.
Kimiko - January 20, 2006 08:15 PM (GMT)
... Hey HA, I think you left your dictionary over at my house, it says at the top "THe number one source for people who NEED to be right." XD But seriously, HA, I hate to get defensive, but you have a way of making it sound like everyone else is inferior. I don't have all teh time in teh world, but if I did, I would've finished the list of characters and their profiles (speaking of which, sereveral of yours lack information), though I do appreciate you stepping in and filling in some blanks. :)
Now, to answer your other questions, BR.
"Naruto", while it seems to be set in the Edo period, is acutally very modern. THey have computers and walkie-talkies, mircophones and doors with locks (verses the slide closed door that are so traditional).
The anime comes on at 9:00pm each Saturday, unless said otherwise, and each Friday at midnight.
Teh manga is sold at any bookstore, and volumes 1-8 are now available (-has 4-8- :3). Teh ninth comes out in March! Le w00t!
BlueRush - January 20, 2006 09:05 PM (GMT)
O__O;; Soooo many names...
Thanks, HA! That's a lot of writing there. ^_^;
And again, a major thanks to Kimiko, Naruto guru! *bows*
Okay, tonight @ 9, I'll be there! :D
Right after I study these some more... XD
THANKS, GUYS!! ^_^
HellAvatar - January 20, 2006 10:50 PM (GMT)
Whoa...
Didn't know I sound like that. Sheesh... I am so used to speaking like this that I never thought it sounds like that.
Sorry about that, Kimi. I know you don't have all the time in the world.
And the descriptions are quick, I know. Hey. Nobody's perfect, although I strive to achieve as much of the said perfection as I can.
And it was all written at 3:00 AM in the morning. So I have to get defensive here too.
Sorry again! Will try to sound a bit less... Well... However it is that I sound.
Kimiko - January 21, 2006 01:18 AM (GMT)
Dat's fine, HA. I WAS a bit harsh, so I apologize for that. It really was great of you to add in teh profiles for Tsunade and Jiraiya (so THAT'S what teh frog is all about... XD I've seen like, ten pics of him with that frog. BUt didn't teh 4th HOkage summon it to defeat teh Nine-tailed fox?), I wasn't able to to read much on them, and I only saw two episodes with either of them in it, both in Japanese. X_X Yea, not that frequent in teh language, mehself.
But Jiraiya ISH hilariously great. XD He makes a good mentor for Naruto. BANZAI! XP And Tsunade... she's okay in meh book, though from what Sara-ko (meh fellow Naruto-guru) told me, she's not all that awesome.
And Iruka ish okay too, I guess, but he SERIOUSLY needs to face teh fact that he will NEVER be as cool as Kakashi. XD
EDIT: OH! ANd ya know, teh tatoo on Gaara's head means "love", right? I'm dead serious, dude. XD
Mist Falcon - June 22, 2006 01:59 AM (GMT)
Okay everyone. who's your favorite character?
um..I obviously :heh: vote Kakashi. and Gaara. he's second. Then rock lee, naruto...it goes on...
BlueRush - June 22, 2006 03:54 AM (GMT)
I vote Jiraiya, Shikamaru and Kakashi. ^_^ Also Sasuke, but that's mostly because he's blue in color. XD
GoldenSama - June 22, 2006 03:57 AM (GMT)

Kimiko - June 22, 2006 04:06 AM (GMT)
I vote Naruto, Rock Lee, Kakashi, Sasuke, Sakura, Neji, and Other for Tenten. :3
Crystal Rose - June 22, 2006 04:32 AM (GMT)
*shrugs* I dont really like the show, I couldnt get into it but everyone said I would like Sakura so her! Plus the two episodes I saw on Cartoon Network made me think it even more, Crazy and in love XD
GoldenSama - June 22, 2006 04:34 AM (GMT)
I'm-a tellin' ya CR-chan, the show isn't that good, but the manga is awesome. Read the manga and you'll love it. :3
Crystal Rose - June 22, 2006 05:04 AM (GMT)
Perhaps I havent been fair with the manga but the dub is so darn annoying....XD Must go and read!
Dark Phazon - June 22, 2006 05:27 AM (GMT)
Opinions!
Fav Character: Gai, 'cause I liked the episode he appeared in.
The series: Same opinion as CR, for the most part. The premise of the series seems good and interesting (and it seems like it works pretty well in the RP here, at least for the parts I've been able to keep up with), but for whatever reason the program just doesn't have "that thing" that draws me in. I can't explain it much better than that vague statement, nor can I really explain why... It just doesn't work for me.
The manga is more interesting than the show, though. How much so, I don't know (as I have only read a couple chapters), but it is more interesting than the anime.
*runs away before being pelted with bricks by all the Naruto fans here*
BlueRush - June 22, 2006 05:35 AM (GMT)
Hah hah, don't be silly, we won't brick yNOW, EVERYONE!! WHILE HE DOESN'T EXPECT IT!!
XD Just kidding, completely. I actually hated Naruto for the longest time... MAINLY because of Naruto's voice... <.< ...but, really, after the sophistication of FMA, the everybody-was-kung-fu-fightin' Naruto just didn't draw me in at first... just so different. But if you start reading the manga, you'll get interested at one point and start to like it... if you want to, that is. ;) That's the catch.
Seriously, though, I do understand EXACTLY what you mean when you describe that feeling, because that's exactly how I felt about Naruto until... well, at some point, it hooked me! ^_^ And I'm sure it'll hook you, DP, and maybe even you, C_R, if you read enough of it and you want to get interested. ^_^
(Heheh... once it hooks them, it'll all be over! World domination! Muhaahaha!)
;P
Those boys were fast--as--light-ni~in'! Dunny-nunny-nun-nun-NUN-NUN-ny!
Cojo - June 22, 2006 05:45 AM (GMT)
I know what you guys mean.
I watched Naruto's first episode. I hated it so much that I stopped watching it half-way throughout the episode. Then Kimi told us about it, but I still thought it sucked. That is until I turned my tv on one night and watched an episode in teh Chunnin Exams. That is what hooked me. Now I love Naruto. I must say though, I think the show is decent. The voices could be better, but the show rules.
I voted for Hinata! and Kakashi, and Sauske. Iruka is alright, and I guess Naruto as well.
Top three though are Sasuke, Hinata, and Kakashi.
Kimiko - June 22, 2006 06:10 AM (GMT)
Well, I understand what you mean about a show just NOT having that "something" that makes you love it... but not in this case.
I saw the previews for Naruto on Toonami and thought "OMG, a show all about ninjas! <3", so I read the manga (personally, I think the first three issues of the manga aren't as good as 4 and on due to art quality) and LOVED it. It was amazing. It DID have that "something" that made me love it. I think that something was Naruto himself; a kid that people kicked when he was down, a kid who really knew suffering, but still managed to smile. He cracked me up, but at the same time he made me cry.
I can't say I relate to Naruto completely, but I do understand what it feels like to be laughed at, and even more, not having anyone who's willing to stick up for you. I felt like Naruto represented that part in everyone's heart that could bring your mind back from sorrow and tell yourself to stop crying, and no one could do that better than him.
But at the same time, the story show human weakness. A struggle of a person trying so hard to acheive something, but it just seems to be out of reach, and there's always something in your way. That would be Sakura. THIS character is someone almost everyone can relate to... a person in love.
BUT! The amazingness just doesn't stop. There's even a character that represents hatred. A character that shows how one's thirst for revenge and hatred can destroy you and everyone around you, and because of your hated for that one person, you are unable to love. Guess who. Sasuke, folks.
So... that's why I love it. Walking talking representations of human emotions enteracting with other symbolic characters. Stuffed full of laughs, ramen, and even some romance. Eat it up, ya'll.
Cojo - June 22, 2006 06:30 AM (GMT)
YES. I agree with all those things Kimiko. Naruto is truly a great thing. In the show/Manga there is at least one character everyone can deal with in one way or another.
Mine happens to be Naruto. After I got into Naruto, I instantly saw my connection with him. Naruto was teased, left out, and made fun for a reason he didnt understand. He felt so much hurt, but he never showed it. He told himself enough was enough and decided to not cry anymore, but to actually do something about his problem. He also decided that the only way he can be truly happy, is if no one ever makes fun of him again, but instead they all look up to him. Same here in a way.
Naruto and I match. People constantly looking down and mocking us, for no reason. We've both become almost completely numb to hurt and pain anymore. We are both tolerant, and both have a dream. We are both strong, not only with strength but with heart and courage as well, and our strength increases daily. We like to test ourselves, to prove who we are and prove our power. Plus I think we both have a great sense of humor, with the pranks and whatnot. We are nice and friendly, but when we are threatened or another friend is, we get fierce.
They're are only a few differences. For one, I am like Sakura when it comes to brain power. I dont brag, but I have to say that I am smart. Also Naruto wants to be Top Dog. I dont. Sure I want people to respect me like I respect them of course.
Well thats a basic comparison between us. I am curious to hear some of your guy's comparison to characters. Please do tell.

Well, I must say that I like the anime. However, that's probably because I first started watching the anime in it's original, uncut, undubbed, unedited Japanese form. The only edit was the subtitles that let me understand it.
Japanese Naruto pwns. The voices fit, more things make sense, and like with 90% of anime, it's not ruined by dubbing. However, after getting only to the episode where Sasuke is "killed" in the fight with Haku and Zabuza, I learned the VCD's I bought were scratched and I could no longer watch it.
I was sad. ;_; So I turned my focus on a new anime... Fullmetal Alchemist; which was fantastic due to the serious subject matter and heavy emotional overtones peppered with enough comedy to keep me happy. :3
However, once I read a bit of the manga, I was hooked on Naruto. Like ALL anime, the manga is better. Seeing as how, through various download sites, you can get all of the manga for free, I luff it. As soon as I get my own computer I plan to download all of Naruto. I would now, but I fear my grandad will kill me. So I'll have to download a chapter a time, read it, and then delete it. ;_;
Anyway... the anime is good, but unless I get used to it, I don't watch Americanized Anime. I DO watch Inuyasha, but only because my Japanese Inuyasha stash only goes to Episode 145, so if I want to see the end I have to watch it on TV. I'll also watch FMA, because FMA pwns in any language at any time. And also because the fine folks at Adult Swim didn't screw it up. :3 Thanks [AS]
However, with Naruto the English Version Anime is on Toonami, which means it will blow. They remove anything showing blood, change names, dumb it down, remove anything remotely offensive to anyone (I'm surprised there's a Sexy Jutsu at all, to be honest) and then they find the best voice actors possible and refuse to give them the job, instead picking people with voices that make you want to drill yourself with a power drill in the ear.
If you judge Naruto by the Anime, especially the American Anime, then you are on a misconception.
If you judge Naruto by the rather slow beginning, you are at a misconception.
The beginning of ANYTHING is always kinda poor. FMA wasn't at it's best in the beginning, Neon Genesis Evangelion was the same thing at the beginning, Witch Hunter Robin was repedative and lacking, and like all of these favorite animes of mine, Naruto was the same. However, it quickly progressed.
If all you see is the constant ninja battles and compare it to Dragonball Z, then you miss the deeper point. That's like saying "Sonic is a game about running fast". If Sonic was all running, I'd hate it; but Sonic has a rich cast of characters and has over the years, through cartoons, anime and comics as well as games, created a very unique and diverse world filled with fun and good times for all.
Same with Naruto! It's about the personal struggle of the loser. Naruto is the kid with nothing. No parents, no respect, the kids make fun of him, the adults fear the nine tails, and the girl he likes calls him a idiot on a daily basis. Uzumaki Naruto is a giant loser with dreams of being the best winner you can be. ANYONE to ever be made fun of, or ever feel left out can relate to his dreams and convictions.
Naruto is about personal struggle, and it develops a complex storyline if you read into it. Kakashi got his Sharingan after his friend was mortally wounded and died. Sasuke's entire clan was murdered in front of his eyes by his own brother. Naruto's parents died to seal a demon inside their son which ruined his childhood and made him a outcast. Rock Lee's dreams of being the best taijutsu fighter were destroyed in the Chuunin Exams. Hinata, while being one of the best characters around and even after gaining support from her dream boy got her ass whipped by Neji. It shows the struggles and trials of these people.
That is the real story of Naruto. If all you see is the constant fighting, then you see nothing at all.
Read the manga. Read the first couple volumes. If you don't like it, GS will give you a box of potatoes.
Seriously. Read the manga, and you'll luff it.

TAKE THIS QUIZ!What's your element? quiz
You're Element is Night. You're a bit of a loner loner who is very creative but never show your work to anyone. You may smile a little but sadness or loneliness surround you and other can feel it when they're near you. You have a dark or unusual beauty that makes you mysterious and you probably have a lot of secrets that you've never told anyone. You're beauty is intriging and unorthidox but the real thing that makes you special is your eyes. Something in them makes them like Diamonds in the Rough. (please forgive me if you cannot see the pics. If you go to my userpage then you can see your result picture at the bottom)
TAKE THIS QUIZ!What Season are you? quiz

You're a Winter. You very much enjoy your time alone but do like other people's company sometimes. You just need your space. You have a few priviledged friends who saw past your colder exterior to find the true you. You can have pretty bad mood swings (though you hate to admit it) so you could be soft one second then storming around the next! But over all, you're a very pleasant person once people take the time to get to know you. You're a good friend for in-depth talks. You're very talanted when it comes to creative things.(If you can't see the pics, go to my homepage and look near the bottom and find your result)

N/S because Naruto's crush on Sakura in Part 1 was too damn cute.
S/S because come on, Sakura loves Sasuke and Ino stands no chance. Get over it.
N/T because no one else even stands a chance with either of them.
