Clown Prince of Crime - December 2, 2006 11:32 PM (GMT)
Okay, folks, in order from best liked at the top, what are your top 5 most favorite anime of all time?
Here's my list:
1. Urusei Yatsura
2. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
3. Fullmetal Alchemist
4. Ranma ˝
5. Digimon
GoldenSama - December 2, 2006 11:47 PM (GMT)

Dark Phazon - December 3, 2006 02:11 AM (GMT)
Limited to only five? But five's such a limiting number...
Anyway, the list!
1.
YuYu Hakusho - I think I read somewhere that originally, the company the originating manga was being produced for could not make up it's mind whether to make it a romantic series, a comedy series, an action series, and asked the head writer to focus on each each style at various points. It makes sense, even if that actually wasn't true. But this anime has just about everything (except for not enough Botan near the end of the series). It would take a monumental new anime (or many more seasons of Haruhi, or an increadible end to Bleach) to get this off my number one spot.
1a.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - Haruhi wished it to be here, therefore it is. But seriously, this show is pure awesomeness. It's really quite refreshing (and watch it in the released order, not chronological order, for maximum effect), and it's goodness is extremely hard to put into words, due to how many interesting things there are about it (like all of it's references, to name one thing I particularly enjoy).
3.
Azumanga Daioh - So... Much... Humor... And High School/Everyday Life charm. It's just sooooo good.
4.
Bleach - I think this dropped a spot due to the last couple of episodes really giving me a feeling of everything being drawn out too much (similar to how Naruto is, and that's one of the reasons I highly dislike Naruto). But still, it's kind-of like an up-to-date YYH with more swords and less DBZ-style-energy-attacks. Oh, and the manga's awesome, too. The gaps between the anime series in the top four is miniscule, unlike the gap from these four to fifth and beyond...
5.
s-CRY-ed - This one's got some fun characters, and great comparison/contrasting between the characters. I don't know exactly what to say about it, other than that I found it extremely entertaining to watch. Plus, Straight Cougar's awesome.
5a.
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Yes I'm cheap :p . But this one deserved a spot just as much as s-CRY-ed, just because of how much it drew me into the characters (especially as it got closer to the end of the series). And no, I don't really have much to say about it, other than it should be watched. Oh yeah, it has the single greatest anime opening I've ever seen.
...
And now I feel bad, as I didn't include some classic favorites of mine, like Rurouni Kenshin, or DragonBall, or some new ones like Gintama or Eureka 7...
((and you can probobly tell, via length, the order that I wrote the descriptions... ))

Okay, okay, you guys can make the list longer if ya want. ^_^;
Perhaps I'll add more to my list later on, as well.
So, much like how many characters you can have in an RP made by GS, there is no limit now. So, go crazy. Put as much anime into your list as you want, but think it through, cuz if something is listed before something else, it means you like it more.
Crystal Rose - December 3, 2006 03:39 AM (GMT)
1.Pokemon-Okay this has got to have the top spot on my list since I have been watching for almost eight full years now. Even when I was in Germany I watched it on cable I begged my mom to buy and on RTL kids--a german kids network like nick--. Though some people say it's repetitve and babyish I still adore it and probably will for the rest of my life!
2.Oban- So it's my newest obsession, I know Oban will always be my second favorite anime because it is so different than what I have ever seen....The characters are unique, the storyline is really intresting, and the music oveall rocks...Seriously....Eva plays rock music from her pink boombox walkman player....I want one...:3
Oh yeah, that and Prince Aikka is cute....VERY cute......
3.Cowboy Bebop-As much as i'll say I dont like overly violent anime this one will still be on my favorites list. I was seriously crying when it was over!
4.Cardcaptor Sakura- It started with watching the seriously cut version on kids WB in 1998 but since then I have adored the cute but serious nature of Cardcaptor Sakura!
5.Angelic Layer- Another CLAMP show that I cant help but love. I always wished the "angels" were real toys! I would so totally play!!! Oh and I love Tamayo Kizaki, the hyperactive nutbar in love with with her best friend since in kindergarten.
6.Saint Tail- Hahah, the only anime I got away with watching in church in Germany.....Saint Tail is really funny as well as cute! Plus Asuka Jr. is a cutie :3

Okay, my list has been remade, this time with comments.
1. Urusei Yatsura Not only an anime that I've liked for around 9 years or so now, but also the anime that pretty much got me into anime. It's old, but it spans a decade, so who cares? It's ingrained in Japan's culture much like how the Simpsons is ingrained in American's culture. Ironically, although being very well-known in Japan, as well as reaching popularity in many other countries (especially Italy), over here in the U.S. it's... well, nobody really knows what it is. But this series is responsible for many of the things we see in any today, particularly romantic comedies... or just comedy in general. Many an anime has tried to imitate it, but Urusei Yatsura is the original. The one that came up with many of the gags we see in comedic anime today. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that Rumiko Takahashi revolutionized anime (or manga, since the original work is a manga... and, especially in the earlier episodes, the manga is waaaay better than the anime). This series has a little of everything: Romance, Comedy, Fantasy, Science-Fiction, demons, aliens, time-travel, alternate dimensions, Japanese folklore, magic, technology, random space-suit wearing fish creatures popping up out of nowhere just because they can, and a huuuuuuuuge cast of characters! Also, many of Takahashi's later series take inspiration from this one in some form or another.
2. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya I only recently have seen this and it's already on my number 2 spot, but man, it's THAT good. It's very, VERY short, though, which is a big contrast from my number 1 spot. However, it manages to do quite a lot with what it has. It's so different from anything else out there, which is why I dig it so much. It breaks free of cliches, and in many ways mocks cliches. And the ending (which technically isn't the end, chronologically, but whatever) was also a GREAT way to end it.
3. Fullmetal Alchemist Winry. I mean, uh, this show is so cool! I'm not entirely sure what it is about it that makes me like it so much... okay, well, Winry is part of the reason. XD But, other than her, there's also a great storyline! And this series is so human, too, despite being about something so... out of the ordinary. The characters are real, you can feel what they feel. Overall, very well done. Oh... and there's also Winry!
4. Ranma ˝ A long time ago, this occupied my number 2 spot for a while. It took years for other series to knock it down a bit, but it's still one of my all-time favorites. I wanted to see this show because it was made by Rumiko Takahashi, creator of Urusei Yatsura. Although it's not quite as wacky as UY, it's still pretty wacky, and carries a lot of the same humor as UY. Unlike UY, it's not filled with jokes and puns that only Japanese people would get, but just like UY, it does have a lot of universal humor, as well as characters that I can relate to, particularly Ryoga. While a lot of the humor is similar to UY, it's a little more restrained and sane, and also most of the sci-fi and fantasy stuff is replaced with martial-arts, which is one big difference in this show. It provided action along with its romantic comedy elements. And while not directly related to why I like this show, I have noticed several UY cameos here and there... but then again, I also noticed UY cameos in Inu-Yasha (another series by Takahashi) as well.
5. Digimon This one has great meaning to me. And to this day, I still miss the original cast. Man, I soooo got into this one. And the last episode of the first season made me sad. It was an episode full of goodbyes. And then the second season came around and all the characters came back, only 3 years older. I was happy. But then the last episode of that also made me sad, probably sadder, as all the characters were now grown-up, and I knew I'd never see them again. Since season 3, there was always a new cast of characters, as well as a different setting in a different dimension. Digimon always did keep it fresh, I'll say that. It had really great action, too, and characters that I shall never forget.
6. Case Closed This was an obsession for a while. Man, it always kept me guessing, too. One of the few murder mystery shows done right! I really like this one.
I'd list more, cuz there's MANY more anime that I like... the only problem is that I'm not quite sure where they rank... :heh:
But just for the record, I'm also extremely fond of Maison Ikkoku, Inu-Yasha, Big O, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Super Milk-chan, Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Hand Maid May, and Lupin III.

Hey! Another Ranma ˝ fan!
Okay…My top five?
1. Pokémon.
Why? It was the first anime I started watching. If it wasn’t for Pokémon, it probably would have taken me a lot longer to get into it. The newer shows may be getting worse, but I still like it!
2. FullMetal Alchemist.
FMA ranks my number two for a handful of reasons. One, it’s a really good story, two, it was bonding time with my sister, and sometimes my dad! It was a show all three of us liked, and I wished they still had more episodes…
3. Digimon.
This bodes pretty much with just the first two seasons, and the reason it’s here is much like Pokémon. It was an anime I watched regularly and loved. I still have the Digimon CD!
4. Sonic the Hedgehog.
Sonic does have some anime, including the old movie and Sonic X. I’ve been a Sonic fan since I was young…Ahhh, the memories!
5. Ranma ˝. Like CPoC said, it’s funny, has action, and has some romance. The Jusenkyo Curses can be hilarious!
BlueRush - December 6, 2006 06:02 AM (GMT)
I'll give details later, but for now...
1. FullMetal Alchemist
2. Samurai Jack
3. Bleach
4. Naruto
5. Samurai Champloo! XD
Sabre_Justice - December 10, 2006 06:41 AM (GMT)
In a rough order...
1: The Cowboy Bebop Movie- Pure rock. I NEED to see the series...
2: Transformers- Pretty much all the series', had their ups and downs but still kicked CHASSIS.
3: Dragon Ball Z- The Super Saiyan Soap Opera as I like to call it, agonising yet entertaining.
4: Digimon- I loved every episode of it up to Tamers when Leomon died. Not sure where they're going after that.
5: Pokemon- Since I used to try to tape every episode I saw, this deserves a spot. The early parts are GREAT, the later... not so much. :(
Sailor N - December 10, 2006 06:45 AM (GMT)
1. Ouran High School Host Club
2. Diimasaa PowerPuff Girls Z

1.Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi
This anime is very funny. Those goblins sure are cute (At least the first one and the three horned ones and the flying one) and so was that triceratops in the fifth episode. Okay, so I have a soft spot, but I have cracked up several times watching this anime. too bad there was only like 21 or so episodes.
2.Outlaw Star
Deep down, we all like this anime at least a little. I haven't seen it for a while, but I think there was some funny episodes out of this anime too. There was a rumored second season, but I haven't heard much about it.
3.Cowboy Bebop
There was also some funny stuff in here too, not very much, but there were parts. But, yeah, the ending was kinda sad, but I really liked the story.
4.Slayers Season 1
I have not gotten around to watching the last episode of this, but this anime was also one of my favorites, and like the other animes, this one made me laugh.
5.Sorrcerer hunters
I haven't seen much of this anime, but I really like it, a bit more than some of the other animes. Unless I think of an anime that I like more, I will put this here for now untill I think of something else.

Humm...my top 5 favorite anime?
- Slayers: My all-time favorite series! It has everything in it! Romance, slapstick comedy, adventure, magic and everything, all in one big package! I just love all of the characters to death; they are all intresting in there own way! ;D
Ack. I could rant on and on aboutmy love for this series, but I really don't want to bother anyone with the details. ^^;
-Fruits Basket: This is a truely beautiful series. The characters are so incredibly in-depth and developed, and the story always has you smiling or crying. A realistic series with a touch of magic. :3
-School Rumble: One of the funniest animes I've ever seen! All the characters are truely lovable, and the story never manages to dissapoint.
-Jungle wa Itsumo Hale nochi Guu: THE funniest anime I've ever had the pleasure of watching. I also consider it the most refreshing. The characters are just so huggable and the animation is so...active! XD Randomness is truely the best! <3
Elfen Lied: A dark, but beautiful series. It is both cute and disturbing at the same time.
Clown Prince of Crime - September 28, 2007 02:08 AM (GMT)
Hmmm... when I'm feeling less lazy, I'll have to come back and redo my list... maybe make it bigger. Especially since Buster and Amechan have reminded me that I really need to add Slayers to my list. XD
Kimiko - September 28, 2007 03:18 AM (GMT)
My list (don't expect a ton of surprises XD)
1. Naruto
2. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
3. Fullmetal Alchemist
4. Eureka Seven
5. Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagan
BLEACH isn't there because I don't like the anime as much as the manga. The hair looks glued to their heads in the anime. XD

1. Blue Seed
2. Dragonball Z
3. Dragonball GT
4. Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040

The OG is indeed most excellent. And now that I think about it... I'll need to make a Dragonball topic, since I realized there is no topic for it. I like the OG and Z, but GT could have been better... though I do still like it, just not to the extent of the OG and Z.
Before anyone asks, OG is just my way of saying original. :p
Anywho, still kinda lazy, but I'll work on my Top 10 (yes, I'm bumping it up to 10) next time...
Avenger29 - September 28, 2007 07:41 AM (GMT)
Heh... OG = Original Gangsta.
Which makes me wonder how Goku would look as a gangsta... Oh wait, that already happened...
Anyways, I just couldn't get into DB. It just never managed to catch my interest.
As for GT, it could've and should've been a little better, but it was still awesome. I mean, it was epic in alot of ways. My gripes about that, however, will be mentioned in the impending Dragonball topic.
Clown Prince of Crime - September 28, 2007 07:46 AM (GMT)
Which I'm working on as we speak. XD
