MWAAAAA I'm finished! Geez, I hope this isnt too long or short, since Oban is over it was hard to summarize everything without giving uber spoilers. Though later I might do a list of inportant events that are MAJOR spoilers. Enjoy and lemme know if there is anything I should change. I'm might edit with more content as time goes on :3

The year is 2082. The world, which is currently a technological hub of activity and prosperity, has been hiding a secret that could very well ruin the peace that the government had been trying to keep. It had taken twenty-five years to reconstruct this the first time and they were not going to loose it again...
Twenty five years ago Earth was fighting the Crogs, a race of hostile aliens bent on ruling the galaxy….That or destroying it…As it seemed all was lost the ruthless aliens suddenly retreated, forced to do so by the Avatar’s will. The Avatar only asks for the planet to enter a race in return, a race that seems to hold a great importance that Earth does not truly understand. Without even a doubt they decline and take the glory of the Crog defeat as their own. They do not realize that by declining, the peace on Earth will be short lived….
Back in the present, the Crogs are back and ready to take control…Forced to remember the offer of the Avatar, the current President has requested the best race manager in the world to take his team to race…
The Great Race of Oban has begun…

Enter fifteen year old Eva Wei, daughter of the famous racing manager Don Wei and his pride of a racer and wife Maya……She is also a full time resident for the last fifteen years at The Stern Boarding School. The teenage girl was abandoned by her father after her mother was killed in a race and since then has been trying to escape her prison in effort to find him. As another birthday comes and goes she gives up hope that he will come for her and decides—with a little help from a electrical part that just seconds ago came in the mail for her—she’ll find him. Luckily her mother and father’s blood runs through her veins, for she is an amazing mechanic and pilot. Eva speeds off in a daring escape from school on her home-made hover bike.
“Early Graduation…”
Meanwhile her father is preparing for the Earth Grand Prix, a task that is as difficult as it sounds. With a head mechanic that’s a no show ingrate—his wife actually had twins—and a tech team who are useless in fixing his biggest racer Done Wei is on edge. It doesn’t help that some dirty teenage boy barges in his building asking to see him!
Too bad on doesn’t realize that that boy is his teenage daughter from fifteen years ago.
He was just about to call the security when she—luckily Eva informed him she was a girl—fixed his broken racer without even trying. With a flick of the wrist a small metal piece flew out of the machine and it purred like a kitten.
“What’s your name young lady!?”
“I-I’m….”
“Well spit it out!”
“I’m……Molly!!”
Before even thinking about it, Eva gave herself a new name, shielding her identity from her father and sending herself into quite a situation. She was immediately hired as a new mechanic but before she could fix her mistake Don was summoned by the President. This is where he found out about the great race of Oban……He would be the Earth team’s manager. Hesitantly he agreed and got to work putting the greatest team in the world.
-Rick Thunderbolt, the champion of the minor leagues of racing. He was a former racer for Don so he was the first choice. Often calls Molly “Little mouse” because of her size.
-Jordan Wilde, seventeen year old ace gunner for the military and grandson of a soldier who was killed in the war with the Crogs. He has a crush on the younger girl but tries to hide it.
-Stan and Koji, master mechanics, who know everything and anything about their boss Miguel’s, Star Racers “Arrow I” and “Arrow II”. They often act like brothers, ploting and working together.

Soon everything was set and—with a attack from the Crogs—the team was on their way to the planet of the preliminaries; Alwas…..Too bad Don Wei did not know about his little stowaway….Molly aka Eva Wei.
Despite the odds Eva was going to follow her father…..And unknowing to her either, they were following the plans laid out for them since Eva’s birth…
With a horrible accident leaving Rick unable to race ever again Eva is thrown into a race she thought she was never meant to participate in. The new fifteen year old Star Racer is now the Earth pilot… It is obvious that everyone in the team is hesitant but none more so than Don Wei who has never allowed a woman to race since his wife’s death.
But what could he do? They had to win the race...

As time went by on the great planet of Alwas Eva was made acquainted with a various assortment of aliens both good and bad.
-Prince Aikka, a Nourasian prince and knight similar in age to Eva. He is charming, kind and powerful, but he is tied down by an alliance with the Crogs. Eva almost instantly seems attracted to him stating him as “cute” in the first race. Soon after he refers to her as the "Earth Princess". His racer is his giant Beetle G’dar and his weapons are a dagger and magical arrows.
-Satis, the guide of the planets as well as personal servant to the Avatar. This small racer is kind and jolly but he is harboring a great secret about the race on Oban…
-Toros, Colonel of the Crog Imperium and younger brother of the Crog leader. A fearful being that is interested in ruling the galaxy with an iron fist. He and the armada of the Crogs have taken Nourasia, forcing the nation’s prince to do whatever they order. He is a powerful racer but allows his pride to get the best of him leading to a horrible downfall.
-The Avatar, the powerful being that keeps the balance between the galaxies. He is shrouded in mystery leading one to believe that something is amiss….
-Spirit, the frightening racer that Molly blames her mother’s death upon. As she is forced to race him startling revelations are brought out about him
-Paradice, an overly childish twelve year old racer who informs Eva about the promise of the “Ultimate Prize” to the winner.
The Ultimate prize arises great envy…..Any wish….Any dream…..

The great race continues and only three teams travel to Oban as the finalists of Alwas. Toros with four wins, Prince Aikka with three, and the Earth team with two. Apparently there were other races on other planets, for the final races lead to ten teams competing. Apparently the promise of the “Ultimate prize” has spread to the ears of the others. Every team remaining has a wish planned.
-Sül, a magical alien and the greatest competitor on Oban. He has immense power but mysteriously disappears—destroyed actually--as the races reach the end. For that he is not a part of the race any longer. If he would have continued it would be certain that he would win the race.
Destiny will not be changed….
-Ning and Skun, a pair of Inna bounty huntresses who are fighting to bring their scattered race back together. Both women are deadly and won’t hesitate to show you.
-Kross, the general of the Crog Imperium. He takes Kross’ place after his brother supposedly allowed his own execution for a loss from the Earth Team. Much stronger, and deadlier than his brother, Kross makes it sure that Prince Aikka’s loyalty lies with him and not his “Earth Princess” referring to Eva.
“It seems as if our prince has gone off to find his princess….”
-Lord Furter, the egocentric pirate captain who views the prize as the greatest treasure ever to be claimed. Along with his crew of scoundrels he fights till the end….And then he runs away screaming…..
-Muir, a calm alien who only wishes to bring back his mate who was killed by Earth hunters with the prize…
-Ondai, one of the smartest beings in the galaxy, his plan is to get the ultimate prize so that he can escape the confines of being a robot and feel emotions and have senses.
-O- A strange alien who plays an importance even after the race is concluded….
Along with the racers on Oban one other is found to be residing on Oban. He is a sinister force who the Avatar cannot even control. He only wants one thing, to gain the ultimate prize…And to do that he needs a certain female pilot…Her life has been in his hands since she was born.
“You were never free...I created you”

Even when the races conclude leading to the final the excitement does not end….The devastating secret about the great prize is reveled leaving the racers wondering why the even raced.
The Avatar can do many things….But even the Avatar cannot bring back someone who has crossed past the gates of death.
There is also still the problem of Don Wei…It seems as he is getting suspicious of Molly's past. Was she his little Eva from so many years ago?
Danger is everywhere now but no matter what Molly the Star Racer is not alone…She has Jordan, whose feelings for the girl are getting more and more serious as the danger rises. And there is still Aikka, known as her traitor but despite this Eva harbors feelings for him. Is this a love triangle I see? The two boys would do anything to protect her….One may even pay the ultimate price.
The Great Race ends, the final fight took it’s toll….With her true identify reveled love and life are shown in a different light, ending one of the scariest chapters in her life. With a soft kiss from the unlikely winner of the race it all concludes as if it were a dream.

Based on an award winning short animation titled "Molly Star Racer" Oban was created by Sav! The World productions. It's an combined effort between Japan and France that had been inproduction since before 2001.

Praised for it's unique style of characters as well as backgrounds, amazing music done by Yoko Kanno, Mou Sukoshi,After Midnight Project and Akino, and intresting mix of cultures, Oban Star Racers has become a cult hit in France and Japan. It's first run has recently finished in American (Toon Disney's Jetix) and though popular it is hidden by the huge anime series' such as Pokemon, Yu'Gi-Oh, and Naruto.
MEDIA
As well as a cell phone video game, the Oban Star Racers manga is in production. There are also rumors that another series is being planned in the future.
So yeah, I did an AMV not too long ago for anime club that is basically going to be used to show the graphics, storyline, and such. Warning, it's sorta long. Enjoy!
