Out of my intense respect for Online Role Plays I have made the bare minimum of changes to this part of The Search: Fanfic. My only real changes have been to make it read “smoother” as a fanfic should, and to edit for spelling.

Act I

Not very far from Station Square, there is a much smaller city with a much higher crime rate. In this city there was a bad neighborhood, with a very shady looking bar sitting right in the middle. It was here that two sinister forces were colliding.

“So, we have an agreement?”

The bar was the classic home of dark-and-shady characters. It looked like everyone inside had a warrant or two outstanding for them; but no one was as famous or as dangerous as the round, bald man whose face was only visible on a small computer monitor which sat on a table in the back of the establishment. The bald man had a thick red mustache and he wore dark glasses that hid his eyes. In front of his face, his gloved-hands were crossed in front of him in a Burns-like way that only added to his stereotypical evil appearance.

“As long as you agree to my price.” There was a Mobian sitting at the table across from the television screen. His fur was dark and his skin midnight blue, and he held the features of both a hedgehog and a cat.

“Yes, yes, I’ll pay your fees.” Doctor Eggman replied over the computer screen. “As long as –”

“AND I want all expenses covered for the duration of the mission,” The hedgehog-cat hybrid added before Eggman could finish his sentence. “Food, equipment, rent, fuel cost: every penny I spend on this job comes out of your pocket.”

Eggman looked visibly annoyed at the fellow sitting in front of him, but reluctantly he muttered a small sigh. “Very well, I’ll pay for everything: but you have to swear that–”

“AND one more condition: I do it MY way and you won’t GET in my way. Is it a deal?” The cathog cut Eggman off one final time.

“FINE Do it however you want: as long as Sonic and his annoying friends become human – and then dead! Finish the job and you’ll have your money.” Eggman’s patience seemed to be wearing thin over the course of the conversation.

“I’m gonna need half my pay up front.” The cathog smirked rather deviously.

Eggman looked as if he’d like to strangle the nearest person; luckily he was only in the bar via satellite. “Whatever! I’ll transfer the funds! You lousy rotten crook ”

“Hey, the best don’t come cheap. I’ll take care of the pests you mentioned.” The cathog replied.

“You better not double-cross m!” Eggman stated in a threatening voice.

“Yeah, yeah. Relax, I’ve seen these guys in action before . . . I’m not impressed.” The mercenary stood up from the table and switched the television set off with his mind. Then he turned and slowly walked out of the bar, the smirk on his face never disappearing for a second. He looked down at a picture in his right hand.

“Heh, okay Sonic, let’s see if you’re quick enough to escape ME.” Nite the Cathog grinned as he embarked to begin his mission.

You might expect our story to begin with the cobalt hedgehog capable of super speeds, but it does not. Instead our story begins at a large pink house in Station Square’s residential district. In the bedroom of this small-but-comfy home was a young pink hedgehog who just awoke for the day.

Amy Rose opened her emerald eyes and stared at the ceiling.

“Good morning.” She muttered, although she was the only one in the room. Rising from her bed, she slipped her feet into a pair of pink slippers and made her way to her bathroom to get dressed. Ten minutes passed in which the only sounds were that of a toothbrush and the water running. Then, at length, Amy reappeared now sporting her normal attire.

“Not too bad, if I do say so myself.” Amy yawned lightly and decided that she’d head out. Breakfast sounded like a good idea, but company sounded even better. She knew exactly what she’d do – head to the workshop owned by Miles Prower and see what he was doing. Besides . . . she might catch the apple of her eye visit his fox buddy.

Around the same time that Amy was getting ready to leave her house, someone else was just starting the day.

The sun blazed onto a hedgehog's sleeping eyes. He opened them, stretched melodramatically, and got up. Sleeping in his lawn chair on a beach was nice, but he hadn't meant to sleep all night. Aw well, he'd had a tough day.

He tossed off his glasses and took off. Through brightly colored hills and loop-de-loops, jumps and pitfalls, Sonic the Hedgehog tore through discreetly hidden South Island and rushed into the waters. Like grapefruit, Numbah 4, and a book on Russian Iconography, Sonic couldn't swim, but unlike grapefruit, Numbah 4, and a book on Russian Iconography, he happened to be moving at the speed of sound. So he just coasted over the water, just running on top of it, so fast he couldn't sink.

Then he came upon Station Square. With a leap and a wall jump or two he was on the rooftops, racing along from antenna to antenna, from rooftop to rooftop. He landed on a spire of a tall building and squinted to see if he could find his buds.

As he looked down over the city he could see many people moving above. Among the scores of human beings and other assorted creatures he found a few familiar faces. He could see, in the distance, a pink hedgehog walking down the street. Spotting Amy wasn’t the highlight of Sonic’s day, however.

Sonic leapt off the tower and curled himself into a ball, bouncing as he reached the ground and breaking his fall. He uncurled just in time to land on the hood of a sports car. However, at that moment the Ferrari beneath his feet gave a growl of it’s engine and took off, knocking Sonic off-balance.

Of course, Sonic was too quick to take a fall and he landed on his feet. Then he smirked and ran a finger along the brim of his nose. “Oh, so you think you’re fast, huh?”

In a blur or blue, the Hedgehog hero took off and quickly caught up with – and passed – the fancy sports car. Sonic sprinted, backwards, in front of the car and stuck his tongue out to the driver. Then he spun back to facing forward and took off down the street, just to cement the fact that he faster than man or machine . . . or anything else.

Meanwhile, at the home of Miles Prower, Amy had finally arrived and knocked on the door. However, after a few minutes of waiting she got annoyed and knocked again – with her hammer. That was loud enough to awaken the young fox who hurried to the door and opened it with a yawn.

“Are you alright, Tails?” Amy asked him when she noticed that his fur was matted and he had a spot of oil on his nose.

“I’m fi-fi-fiiiiiine.” Tails yawned.

“You were up all night working, weren’t you?” Amy asked, crossing her arms.

“Yeah . . . you know me, always restless.” Tails yawned again and fell backwards into a beanbag chair. “So Amy, what’s up? Is something wrong?”

Amy shrugged. “Naw, I’m just bored. I’m going to see Sonic later, you wanna come with me?” Amy quickly headed towards Tails’ small kitchen to prepare breakfast.

Cosmo awoke from her gentle slumber to the sounds of clanking pans downstairs. She groaned a bit then turned around in her bed so she could clear he face of that annoying pillow. Pulling herself up and out of bed she yawned and cleared her eyes.

'Is Tails up?' she thought. She reached the steps and went down quietly and saw Tails was curled up on a beanbag chair. She also noticed that Amy was in the kitchen.

“Cosmo, I didn't know you were staying here.” Amy said when she noticed the plant girl.

Cosmo smiled politely. “Well since I am new to Earth, Tails was kind enough to help me out by showing me around.” She stared at the ground “I don’t know much about Station Square.”

Amy dropped the pan she was holding. “Well then I’ve got a great idea We can go out for breakfast, and we can do some sightseeing too ”

“Okay ” Amy said. She turned to Cosmo “You wanna? We can visit Sonic or something.”

Cosmo nodded happily.

“I'll be right back.” Cosmo said running back into her room to get ready.

“You sure you don’t wanna go?” Amy said, leaning down to his level. Noticing he was already in dreamland she patted his head and climbed the stairs to Cosmo's room.
When she arrived Cosmo was already heading back her way.

“I am done, we can go now.”

“Alright.” Amy lead Cosmo down the stairs and headed for the door. She opened it and stepped through but Cosmo made a pit stop walking past Tails.

“Bye Tails.” She leaned down and kissed him on the forehead before following her friend into town.

It didn't take long for Nite to finish preparations and organization. Wasting the last of his time in his favorite place to hang out, Nite sighed and exited the little café that was his hangout. A very small, unattractive place that drew Nite in from the very beginning. He stood outside for a second, breathing deeply and thinking about the shortest route to his destination.

Figuring it all out in his mind and memorizing his path, he clicked on the panel of his watch. A small holographic control panel opened up, and he pressed several other buttons, closing the panel after. A revving was heard not from far away, and a hoverbike, sleek and stylish, zoomed into view at speeds surpassing those of a car on the freeway.

Shouldering the pack with his items, Nite got on the bike, revved the engine, and literally blasted away, followed by the disapproving looks of strangers. At the speed with which he was currently “flying”, he'd be right on time. Smiling to himself, he thought of how convenient it was to have a crazy inventor on his side...

Amy and Cosmo’s sightseeing trip had taken them to Station Square’s renown shopping district. As they crossed the street, they found a bit of commotion.

“AMY WATCH OUT!” Cosmo yelled loudly, closing her eyes in panic. Instead of the expected sickening thud from the car hitting Amy’s tiny body, Cosmo heard a loud crack. Opening her eyes she saw Amy’s Piko Piko Hammer dented into the car’s hood.

“Did you really think I’d let that thing hit me?” She laughed and continued walking across the street, Cosmo following her. Although Cosmo stopped and apologized to all of the angry people who were shouting. When she met up with Amy on the other side of the road, she looked up at Amy.

“Amy, is life on Earth always this . . . um . . . loud?”

Before Amy could respond to her friend, footsteps became apparent. Amy, who had a well-established curious streak, spun around to see a Red Echidna making his way down the street. He wore an old cowboy hat and looked a bit out-of-place in the city.

“Amy, is that Mr. Knuckles?”

As the two finally made it to the other end of the street, there were a lot of angry shouts from the traffic they had held up – especially from the man who now had a dent in his car’s hood . . . and the engine beneath it. Amy seemed oblivious to it all, however, as she approached Knuckles happily.

“Hi Knuckles!” Amy exclaimed, waving happily. Cosmo stood behind her afraid that if she showed her face she would be yelled at by the drivers. Amy picked up on Cosmo’s tension and turned around to her.

“Don’t worry about them,” Amy said, pointing at the angry drivers. “They’ll get over it.”

“A-Alright.” Cosmo stammered, still a bit unnerved.

Amy returned her focus to Knuckles. “You remember Cosmo, right?”

Cosmo politely curtsied, and Knuckles nodded his head in recognition. Amy then returned to her questioning: “By the way, have you seen Sonic lately? I want to make him a super yummy dinner!” Amy blushed madly as she spoke of the blue hedgehog.

“I haven’t seen him . . . just got into town.” Knuckles pointed towards the bag he had over his shoulder. He had been traveling for a long time.

At that moment, there was a swishing sound from above. Someone had just jumped off of a building and glided down to the ground peacefully. That someone had large wings and was holding in one hand a nailfile and in the other a large emerald, obtained by questionable means.

Knuckles instantly let out a sigh of annoyance.

“Rouge, what are you doing here?” Amy asked looking at the older bat. “We have no Emeralds, so there is nothing here for you to steal ” She said loudly, and she wasn’t the only one assuming that Rouge was up to no good. Knuckles said nothing, but his eyes narrowed. They had a long and complex history.

Rouge didn’t notice she was spotted, but it occurred to her she was wearing a bright pink outfit in the daytime. She shook her head and shot Amy an irritated look. She also shot Knuckles a look, but it was less irritated.

“Listen hun, I’m on break today.” She said to Amy as she fiddled around with the jewel that was already in her hand. “Get into traffic accidents, much?”

“Oh dear About that we are very sorry!” Cosmo stepped in with a tiny voice. “It is my fault!”

“We should get going if we’re going to get the shopping done before we see Sonic.”

“It was nice see you two again!” The young flower said as Amy pulled her away. Amy knew that when Rouge and Knuckles were within five feet of one another, there was usually some harsh words and sparks ready to fly, and she decided to take her leave as early as possible. Besides . . . She hoped to find Sonic soon

“See you Amy,” Knuckles said as Amy walked off. He looked over at Rouge, and merely said her name as his only greeting: “Rouge.” That was more than she usually got out of him, unless she was doing something that would make him blush, as she often did.

Knuckles crossed his arms. “Traffic’s an annoyance. Not the only one, either. Did you want something?”

The white bat also took notice to Amy and Cosmo leaving, Rouge narrowed her eyes at her current ‘love’ interest a bit and smirked herself. She yawned, then looked at her newly filed nails.

“You know, this, that, jewels, emeralds, blah, blah, and blah.” Rouge then changed her position by placing her hands on her hips. But what are you doing he- Her obvious question was interrupted by a flash of blue landing right next to them.

Sonic had leapt from roof to roof, having finally spotted his friends. He jumped down.
“Hey, Knux. What’s up?”

Knuckles turned to the blue hedgehog who'd appeared and nodded his head casually.

‘Perfect timing.’ Rouge thought sarcastically in her mind, a bit disappointed that she wasn't alone with Knuckles.

“And aren't you supposed to be with your uhh.. who was she. Your girlfriend?” Rouge asked Sonic. Girlfriend referring to Amy.

“Sonic, Amy’s looking for you.” He informed the hedgehog. He leaned back a bit and shifted his eyes from the hedgehog to the bat and vice-a-versa. It certainly was an interesting morning already; but somehow he suspected this was just the beginning. It was somewhat ironic that Amy had vanished just as Sonic showed up. He wondered how far they’d managed to go.

Cosmo stared at Amy as she continued to pull her along.

“Come on, We can shop first then I'll make sure we stop by some cool sites, and then maybe ice cream.”

“Ice Cream?” Cosmo asked apparently confused.

Amy nodded “You'll love it, its cold and sweet, and you can have any flavor you like. My favorite is Strawberry” Amy had a knack for ranting.

Cosmo continued to listen as Amy rambled on about this ‘Strawberry Ice Cream’ It was all very new to her and very confusing.

“Amy?” Amy paused for a moment.

“Ya?” The pink hedgehog replied

“Do you think, well . . . maybe I could get a present for Tails?”

“Tails?”

“Well yes, he has been very kind to me since I have came to this planet and I wish to get him something to say... Well say Thank you.” Cosmo paused thinking “Perhaps a tool?”

Amy shook her head. “No way, he has every tool created.” Amy giggled “Awww this is sweet ”

“What do you mean?” A confused Cosmo inquired.

“You like Tails, don’t you?” Amy grinned, clapping her hands together.

“Well of course, I like you all.” Cosmo replied without a clue as to Amy’s real intention behind the question.

“No, I mean you like-like Tails!” Amy sighed as she tried to explain.

Cosmo pointed at herself. “I like-like Tails?” She seemed to still be confused.

“You LOVE him!” Amy was getting a bit frustrated. After she regained her composure, she said: “How about I help you find Tails something nice, while we’re out?”

Cosmo nodded happily. “Thank you!”

So they continued on their walk. Cosmo stared into the windows of every store her and Amy went past. Each was huge and gave possibilities to what she could give Tails.

“Come in here, Cosmo!” Amy said turning into a small grocery store “I need to get the dinner supplies.”

Cosmo nodded and followed. Looking through every thing she grabbed a few supplies to show Amy. “Amy, Amy How about this?” She pulled up a huge container of mustard. “Do you think Tails would like this?”


Amy giggled “No, that’s mustard, I highly doubt that.”

“How about this?” Cosmo held up a heart shaped box of candies.

“Uhh, don’t think Tails would like that.” Amy took them from the younger girl “But Sonikku will ”

“I’m afraid to ask, but what about this.” Cosmo held up what looked like a toilet scrubber.

Amy just sighed. “Don’t worry you don’t have to buy something here, I'll still help you out.” She took the scrubber and headed for the check out. “We're done here anyway.”

Meanwhile, Sonic was getting a bit bored as he stood next to Knuckles and Rouge and listened to their half-flirting, half-arguing with one another.

Sonic leaned back and folded his arms. “Fine. I can see when I'm not wanted.” He started away, then turned back with a grin and said, “I guess you two just wanted to be alone, huh?” He zoomed away, laughing his head off.

Sonic zoomed by a shop, then zipped back. He'd seen a certain pink hedgehog out of the corner of his eye.

Meanwhile, Mighty finished lifting weights and headed outside. He walked along, and saw Espio standing somewhat near Knuckles and Rouge.

“Hey, guys,” he called, “long time no see ” It had indeed been a long time; It had been ages since he'd left the Floating Island, and even longer since he'd worked with the Chaotix. But now, the strongest armadillo in the world was about to get tangled up in another adventure.

Rouge grinned a little, that is until Mighty showed up. ‘Yay, more friends.’

“Well, if it isn't a little reunion ” She said, putting on the most fake smile ever. And she wasn't doing very good in hiding it either. 'Is the whole world just out to get me?'

Knuckles glared at Sonic as he zipped off with his usual carefree grimace and annoying joke. Sometimes that guy could be a real pain in the rear. No, not sometimes; always. Eh, Knuckles was no better in truth; but things seemed more fun when you weren't the one being joked about.

Knuckles then heard another voice and turned to see Mighty. “Hey.” He greeted him with a yawn. It was odd, there seemed to be a lot of familiar faces out today. All they needed now was Eggman to show up with another hair-brained scheme to steal the Chaos Emeralds and it would really be deja vu.

“Well, I’m outta here.”

Knuckles turned and continued on down the street, leaving Rouge and Mighty behind. Truthfully he had nowhere better to go and as amusing as it was to watch Rouge try to hide her rather obvious irritation, he was also hungry and that wouldn't change by standing around.

Rouge watched Sonic and Knuckles leave and sighed. Turning towards Mighty, she asked, “Happy? Hmpf. Anyway, what in the world are you doing here?” She was feeling a bit strange because she wouldn't normally be socializing and chatting in the middle of a city. She would usually be eyeing out some precious jewel or taking it right about now.

She tapped her foot impatiently, waiting for Mighty to answer. Something was different about today, she just couldn't put her finger on it.

Mighty shrugged. “Not much.” He paused. “Ummmm.... who are you again?”

Mighty had never met Rouge, and hadn't seen any of the team for quite a while.

Rouge blinked once or twice before it struck her. 'I'm really losing it today To think I knew this guy '

“Rouge's the name. Try not the forget it, alright?” She winked and flew off, hoping to find something to do.

Meanwhile, just outside of the town two very sinister forces were gathering. One was the psychic bounty hunter who had been hired to defeat Sonic and his friends; the other the oversized scientist who hired him.

As Nite the Cathog walked into the outskirts of town, there was suddenly a very loud noise and two small robots ran out to introduce their boss.

“Now presenting the greatest!” Bocoe started with glee.

“The coolest!” Decoe added with a grin.

“The most awesome!” Bocoe put in as well.

“Dr. Eggman!” They said in unison. Eggman walked up towards Nite, grinning like the madman he was, delighted at his egotistical introduction.

“Hello Nite, I’m glad to finally meet you!” Dr. Eggman smirked.

Nite burst into laughter. Eggman's intro was SO hilarious, that it was impossible to laugh at this moment. And this was the first time Night has even smiled during the last few months. Now, he was holding his stomach, tears streaming out of his eyes, laughing like a madman. It took him several moments to take control of himself again, as he straightened and wiped tears of laughter from his eyes.

“Man, that was somethin' That was really somethin', Eggman The most awesome You really made my day today, moustache-face. Now I'm glad that I stayed... That was RICH. You gotta do it again sometime, amuse us all. Maybe you could start a clown show...”

He then got on his bike, and snickering, spoke in an undertone for Eggman not to hear.

“Most awesome, my ASS...”

He started his bike, hovered 10 inches above the ground and spoke loudly this time, still smiling, the little incident replaying in his head.

“Lead the way. Let's get your operation on the road. Now tell me what you need me for. and I need FULL information, not info on the need-to-know basis. If you don't spill all the beans, don't count on my help. And I KNOW when you are covering something up.”

Eggman scowled at Nite's little 'Laugh session' but threw him a cell phone none the less. “I'll tell you everything you need to know on the way.” Walking back into his Eggpod, he started it up and flew off, Nite right behind him.

“All right, I need you to get rid of a little rodent problem I've been having, Usally an evil genius like myself could easily do it.” Eggman stopped noticing snickers coming from the other phone “Hardie Har Har, Now may I continue?”

Hearing silence he continued. “Now then, This little hedgehog im having issues with is extremely powerful and extremely fast.” He sent a picture threw the phone. “This is him Sonic the hedgehog.”

Eggman took a breath and continued. “Now this isn't the only pest that needs to be eliminated.”

He sent another picture this time of a yellow two tailed fox. “This is Tails , my personally enemy of the minds. He is a technically genius that almost matches up to me Not to mention he is only eight years old.


The next photo came through the phone. This time it was of two, A bat and an echidna. The red one is Knuckles, if you don’t already know he is the guardian of the Master Emerald that is upon the floating Angel Island.”

Eggman grinned “I'll give you double if you bring me that emerald too.” he continued. “The bat was actually a partner of mine until she decided to double cross me. Don't let her looks fool you, she is an extremely good fighter, theif and spy.”

Finally he sent one last picture. This time it was a very large group. “The pink hedgehog girl is Amy Rose. She is Sonic's personal fan club. But watch out for her Piko Piko hammer, it packs a punch.”

Eggman silently snickered at the joke he made. “The group at the right is the Chaotix detective agency. It consists of Charmy the bee, Espio the Chameleon, Vector the Crocodile and Mighty the Armadillo. Get rid of them if you see fit.” Then Eggman let out what sounded like a growl.

“There is Shadow, the ultimate life form, he will probably be as hard as Sonic to destroy since he can cause chaos control.” Looking at the last two people in the picture his called them out. “And the last two are Cream the rabbit and Cosmo. You wont have to do that much to get rid of them. Cream is only six, and Cosmo is new to this planet. But watch out Cosmo can control plants when she wants too.”

After taking a rest he spoke once again. “You got all of that, of do I need to repeat myself?”

Nite scoffed at the group pictures and details. He knew there was more to it, but if there was not much more, this would be one easy mission.

“And you've not taken care of these rodents? Pathetic. I'm surprised, Eggman. VERY surprised. This should have been a dead cinch ”

Nite then snickered inwardly at his attitude. He was barely taller than this Sonic the Hedgehog, of which he heard much already, but he talked to Eggman like an equal, or even a superior. It was amusing to see that kind of thing happen.

“So... How do you want me to take care of them and when? Do you want them captured or dead? Where are they? When do you want me to start? And most of all: Will you give me any tools that would be useful in catching and taking care of any of them? The most challenging is this... Shadow... Because of his Chaos Control. I need something to counteract the effect.”

Nite was really getting into this: Hey, it's not every day you catch a famous hedgehog.

“You do what you see fit, if its easier to kill them, kill them.” Eggman began to land at his base.

“Follow me.” He said through the phone. Once landed Eggman stepped out of his plane and walked into the base. Tubes, tables, and all kind of weird experiments lined the walls.

The mad scientist stopped at one of the tubes at the far end of his lair. He turned to Nite.

“This is it! The key to my victory!” He held up a tube of liquid. “This will make your job a lot easier.”

He handed it to Nite. “Just inhale it and you will turn to human. I will do the same to the pests and then you will be able to kill them off as you like.”

Eggman passed him another small tube “This will turn you back to normal. All you have to do is drink it.”

Eggman grinned “None of them should have any physical abilities after the transformation, So you will have an easy time.”

Turning away from Nite “So how do you like this job? Are you still in? Oh and by the way,” Eggman added “Station square is where you'll find them.”

“You kidding me? I'd not quit for life, unless you decided to betray me... Hehehe I already know that this is going to be extremely fun. You know, Egghead... You really have called me at the right time to the right place. I'm in.”

Nite grinned, his eyes flashing strangely.

“When do I begin?”

“Go ahead and try out the liquid, I want to see how it will work out my friend.”

Eggman tossed him a check. “Oh yes and this is half your payment. You will get the rest later.”

Nite grabbed the check, and put it in his pack, which he still wore on his back. He then tossed it, and opened the vial. Thinking that this is going to be hell, he drank a few drops of the liquid, thinking 'Eh, what the hell...'

Eggman grinned as Nite took a sip of the vial. “This is gonna be good!” He watched as Nite fell to the ground and began to transform.

“Will he be alright?” Bocoe asked. Eggman nodded.

“He is just unconscious, it's less painful that way. He'll be up in a few minutes.” Eggman sat down waiting for his new partner to awaken.

Nite awoke, with his head literally on fire and his stomach feeling like it was being pierced by a thousand hot needles. The pain abated a bit, and he sat up, feeling about. He finally realized that he was at least twice as tall as he was before, and actually human. Surveying his body, he also noticed that he had clothing on. Probably a nice effect of the liquid.

“Damn, Eggman, did you fill this thing with liquid fire or something? I'm gonna have indigestion problems for days ” He focused, and realized that he no longer had the control over his power. Grinning he put a thumbs-up to Eggman.

“Works like a charm Powers are disabled... Heh, Sonic and company have NO chance against us... Especially with this little thing in my hands...”

“So you like it? Good, good.” Eggman beckoned him over “Would you like to do the honors of making them human or shall I do it.” He showed him a slightly bigger tube of liquid. “This one is a tad different, all they need to do is take a breath and they are human. So one of us will need to cause some major trouble and the other to spray this.”

“Major trouble, you say? My, my... That's what I'm best at, you know! Now, I turn myself back to normal, so I could go and cause havoc. You, I bet, will be in the back, waiting for the right moment to catch them off-guard, and spray this thing at them. And by the way...”

Nite downed a bit of the liquid that turned him back to normal, and put it away into his pack. The pack locked, being mechanical with some very high-security locks on it. It was a big advantage to have an insane scientist/researcher/professor on your side...

“I'm keeping this. You never know when an evil genius would suddenly turn his back on the hired mercenary... So I need a backup plan...”

With that, Nite blacked out again, as he got smaller and turned back to normal...

“So what do you say my Sonikku? You want a yummy dinner?”

Back at Station Square, Amy had finally caught Sonic. The blue hedgehog was trapped against the glass of a storefront window, while Amy was standing in front of him batting her eyes and putting on her cutest charm to try to get him to agree.

Cosmo was now unaware of the conversation, because at that moment she was busy watching as something on a motorcycle sped by. Cosmo tapped Sonic slightly “Mr. Sonic... what was that?”

Amy turned to see, suddenly she noticed a large plane following. “Is that Eggman?” She wondered aloud, watching the plane carefully. It was red and yellow and bored the crest in the shape of Eggman’s head.

Sonic grinned. “Sorry Ames, I'll have to rain-check you!” he said, seeing the plane flying overhead. He zipped up the side of the building and jumped, hoping he was close enough to reach it.

Rouge was still a little ticked from the scenario this morning, but she didn't know that things would get worse. Right after she flew up, leaving Mighty in the dust, she noticed something in the distance.

“Too early for stars...” She squinted since the plane was some distance away. “That's not good.”

When she realized what it was and quickly returned to the ground. Sometime back, she was working for Eggman, although she insisted that she was an assistant. She began walking at a quick pace, still in an alley to avoid being spotted.

“What in the world could he want?” Rouge wondered.

Nite grinned. He gave his warning. Time for fun. He turned the bike right around, and sped right back, heading straight for Amy Rose, accelerating all the way. As he almost hit her, he swerved, and spun about, stopping right in front of the duo, one leg on the ground.

“So... You must be Amy Rose... Cosmo too... My luck is with me today... 2 targets in one hit. Eggman will be quite pleased.”

While Nite was coming for Amy, Amy was oblivious. She was running after Sonic.

“Sonikku wait up!” Amy yelled.

She turned to Cosmo. “Do you know the way home?”

Cosmo nodded.

“Okay then go get Tails, tell him we think Eggman is back.” Amy instructed her friend.

Cosmo nodded and ran off. Amy turned back to where Sonic left and followed. She hadn't noticed Nite on his hoverbike, coming towards them.

“NO ONE... Runs from me... Hehe.”

Nite revved his bike, and sped off after Cosmo. Catching up quickly, he swerved, grabbed Cosmo by the ears, lifted her into the air, swung her across the back of the bike, and smacked her right in between the eyes with his fist, putting her out of commission for a while. Marking the spot, he dropped Cosmo to the ground, and threw some sort of gadget at her, which spread sticky, long ropes all over the unconscious one.

Then he turned right around, and sped back. He had more targets to take care of.

Tails awoken to the sound of silence in the house he looked at the clock.

“Three o'clock?” the fox was stumped someone should be home by now. He left the house and started to walked to town. 'Perhaps the girls lost track of time shopping?'

His stomach growled, “Maybe I shoulda ate, well all the more reason to find them.” About five minutes of walking he noticed something lying on the ground. Something green...

“COSMO!!"”Tails ran over to the young girl who was lying unconscious and picked her up. “What happened?”

She didn’t respond, obviously something hit her in the head hard. A bruise was already forming.

“Where in the world is Amy?” Tails looked towards town. “I have a bad feeling about this...” He ran towards the city afraid of what he would find.

Rouge was still walking aimlessly around until the alley came to two turns. One into a dead end and one to an open street.

“Guess I can't hide forever.” She shrugged and stepped onto the street, but jumped back when someone sped right in front of it. A vein in the bat's head popped and she clenched her fists.

“HEY! Do you mind watching where you're going?!” She yelled with frustration, not knowing the dangers of the guy responsible for almost making her road kill.

'Oh heck no, not today!’

Knuckles had been relaxing in some alone time when his eyes noticed the plane. The word 'Eggman' popped into his head in an instant and he balled his fists, ready for a fight. He'd run quickly to catch up to Eggman's plane when he noticed the bike-riding fiend who attacked Cosmo. Knuckles watched from afar as Tails came to Cosmo's aid. Knuckles couldn't stand a creep who'd pick on someone like Cosmo. Whoever this bike-rider was; he was about to get a taste of Knuckles the Echidna!

Knuckles quickly scaled the side of a building using his spiked fists and once he was on the roof he took and running dive and jumped off; landing on the back of the bike.

“Hey buddy, how ya doin'?”

Knuckles didn't wait for an answer before driving one of his fists into the rear end of the bike, and the other into Nite's back. Afterwards he jumped off the bike and landed on his feet; fists raised and ready for a fight.

“I take it you're Egghead's new friend, aren't ya?”

Nite rolled expertly, coming to face his 2 new opponents: Rouge and Knuckles.

“He. I knew you would be trouble, you red needlehead. By the way.. Is that fists or boulders? They sure look like the second... Must weigh a ton to carry them around... And Rouge! Next time, chose a better style! Pink does not go with white!”

He then stood up, and crossed his arms, tapping his foot in expectation.

Rouge placed her fist against her sides and stomped one foot.

“What? Pink goes with everything!” 'I don't like this guy already. But then again, he might be working for Eggman!'

“You'll regret saying that,” Rouge sneered and flew straight up, ready for her dive attack. 'No one insults my outfit!'

Nite smiled, and his eyes flashed white for a millisecond, turning back to normal yet again right after. Problem is, he used his power, which made the flash. It feels like a major slap across the face to Rouge, as Nite grinned.

“Come on! Bring it on! Give the best you got!”

And he took a battle stance.

“You're pretty brazen for a guy who's about to get HURT!”

Knuckles ran forward, gritting his teeth and aiming a punch directly at Nite's stomach.

Tails ran towards Knuckles and Rouge when he noticed the newcomer, some guy with a motorcycle. “Knuckles, someone attacked Cosmo!!” Tails said, staggering from the weight of his limp friend.

Eggman watched happily as Sonic and Amy followed behind “Just a bit longer and Nite will have a go at them. He lead them to the forming group, Nite was already there.

“Sonic, whats this all about?” Amy yelled from behind. She noticed the group forming and gasped at seeing Cosmo's unconscious form in Tail's arms. She ran to the Kitsune.

“What happened?”


Nite's eyes flashed again, and he jumped. This time he used a disorienting whiplash-effect against Knuckles's mind, dizzying him for the one second he needed. Instead of getting punched in the face, he jumped, and pummeled straight down with his foot.

“And you fight pretty pathetically... You know, I never knew the infamous Knuckles was so BAD at what he does... Eh... Must have overestimated you a bit!”

“Who is this guy?” Tails asked. Amy glared at him

“HEY leave him alone!!!” Amy yelled, her piko piko hammer appering she slamed it down towards Nite.

Rouge shook her head and felt just as if she'd been hit by Amy's hammer. She grabbed her head to keep her mind from spinning as she slowly stood up straight, facing Nite.

“This'll teach you how to treat a lady!” She dashed towards Nite for some hand to hand combat.

Nite flipped into the air expertly, grabbing onto Amy's hammer, and twisting it, sending the girl to the ground, and holding up the hammer himself.

“Not bad . . .”

His eyes started glowing, as the hammer lifted into the air, surrounded by a blue aura. Nite let it go.

“Now let's see how well you can DODGE!”

And the hammer went after Amy, slamming the ground, trying to get to her, smashing up and down like the hammer item from the N64 SSB game. He turned towards the bat which was running at him.

“Come on! Is this all you can do? Show me what you got!”

Knuckles shook his head. He felt sick; disorientated. Oh this guy was dead.

Knuckles twisted around in time to see Nite using some kind of mental power to control Amy's Piko Piko Hammer. That wasn't good.

"Overestimate this, punk!" Knuckles took advantage of Nite's interest in Amy and used the chance to run forward and deliver a hard punch directly into Nite's back.

Amy let out a yelp of pain as she hit down onto the ground. She continued to doge the hammer until it finally smacked her knocking the pink hedgehog to the ground.

"Owwwwww" As it came down for the final blow she grabbed the handle, trying to control it. It pulled her up and down shaking violently as if it wanted her off NOW.

She held on tightly. "This is so not fun!!"

Nite was not expecting Knuckles. The punch knocked the wind out of him. Heh, this guy WAS the trouble Nite thought him to be.

"Not bad... Not bad... For a newbie..."

Nite then flipped into the air, and sent another wave of psychic energy. This one was a direct hit into the perception part of the brain, disabling a certain feeling or sense of something. Erasing the sense of HIM from all of their minds with that blast, Nite has become virtually invisible to the group until his concentration would waver. NOW it was fun time. He ran straight at the blinded Echidna, and slammed him full-run into the face, turning about, he mind-whipped Rouge, and waited for the next move they would make.

The impact of the mind-whip caused Rouge to fall back, and feeling completely blank for a second.

"WHAT was that?!" She asked furiously, with an increasing headache. Feeling a little dizzy, she shook her fist at the enemy, wherever he was.

"You're gonna pay for that you punk!"

Knuckles blinked. Nite had simply vanished. Or so it seemed. A moment later he felt himself smacked in the face and he went falling backward onto his bum. Knuckles rubbed his sore nose for a moment as he looked around in every direction for the fiend; but he was unable to find him.

"What the heck?" Knuckles muttered to himself.

Did this guy turn invisible? Great, just great.

He then narrowed his eyes. Well, whoever this bike-riding freak was, he may have an upper hand; but Knuckles had dealt with worse before.

Nite's eyes were glowing, and he was almost laughing outright. He hasn't had this much fun in years! Whipping about, his eyes glowing continuously now, he ripped out a stop sign from the ground, and made it fly straight into Tails, while he spin-kicked Knuckles again. Then he back flipped straight into Rouge, double-kicking her in the stomach.

"Hey Eggman!" Nite yelled in the cellphone. "You better be watching this! 'cause your time will come VERY soon!"

"Ouch!" Rouge flew back, rolling on the ground, ending up next to Knuckles. "Ugh."

"Fancy meeting you here. Any idea who this guy is?" Rouge sat up and winced. 'This guy can HIT.' She then stood up, looking around. This definitely wasn't her idea of fun. More like crude torture for Eggman's entertainment.

Finishing the kick, and landing perfectly on both feet, Nite made a lunge straight forward, head butting straight into Amy, who was trying to stand up. Distance was nothing to Nite: He could carry himself in the air with his telekinetic powers if he had to.

Then, as he landed on Amy and pressed her back down to the ground, he jumped, and did the splits in the air, spinning around, kicking Tails in the process. Landing right next to him, he lifted the 2-tailed fox into the air, and launched him straight at Knuckles, while at the same time using his mind-whip to keep the Echidna down. Now there were only several others to gather... And then, Eggman could launch his scheme...

Sonic had been unable to reach the ship, no matter what he jumped off of. So he went back to find Amy and make sure Eggman hadn't been trying to kidnap her for no reason again. Unfortunately....

"Um, hi guys," he said, as his friends fell back in pain, "What is this, the mime club?"

"Not a clue, but when I find him he's gettin' hurt." Knuckles replied as he struggled to break free of the mind-whip. He was being held against the ground and couldn't escape. This presented a whole world of problems that Knuckles just didn't want to deal with.

A moment later he heard a voice and noticed Sonic. It was about time he decided to show up.

"Invisible guy. Kicking our butts. Could use a hand." Knuckles explained in an annoyed voice.

"Perfect! The blue streak himself. Or should I say: another playtoy!!!"

Nite mentally picked up the stop sign, and twirled it in the air around himself in a wide circle, knocking over anyone who was standing, leaping right up to knuckles, he picked the bat up, and chucked her at Amy. The weird part was that Rouges, since a part of her brain that perceived Nite was blocked, she only felt herself rise into the air, not being picked up by someone.

Then Nite decided to concentrate on the new target, using a technique he liked to call "breaker": it was a series of mind blows that felt like blows from Amy's hammer, that disoriented the target, and left them in a condition ranging from dizzy or disoriented with a headache to mentally broken down to dead. This hammer, though, was not powerful enough to kill off Sonic the hedgehog. Nite was just playing with them all.

"What are we gonna do?!?" Amy yelled, running to help Tails and Cosmo. "This is SO not cool!" Standing up shakily once more and grabbing her hammer, she took a defensive stance. "Im not going down that easily"

Tails woke up groggly and looked over to Cosmo who was still not awake. Remebering the invisible attack he started to think

"There has to be a way to see this guy." 'Come on Tails Think THINK!!!' The small fox's head was still thumping but that wouldnt stop him from trying.

Tails got up and walked over to Cosmo. He tried to reflect on all the things that had just happened. But more importantly was Cosmo ok? Tails kneeled over her preparing to give her a kiss.

Then he got it. "Amy? Hey I know this is asking alot of you but can you watch over Cosmo and keep this thing busy while i get the X Tornado? Please?" Tails said with tears in his eyes. He thought to himself I only got one chance at this better not mess up.

Amy turned around and nodded, hammer still in hand. "Allright, just be carefull."

Tails ran as fast as he could hoping to make it to the hanger on time. He could see the X Tornado and right beside it a few cans of paint. Tails grabbed the paint and quickly jumped into the cockpitt. "Get ready cause here I come."

By the looks of the invisible fight still going on, Tails had got away. "This stupid loser doesnt stand a chance!"

Cosmo's eyes opening lightly, trying to adjust to the bright sunlight. "Wha....What happened?" She noticed th fight going on. "That's the man who attacked me!" she wispered quietly.

She sat there for a momentwatching the others fight, almost blindly....'blindly? They can't see him!' She thought. The young plant wondered what happened to Tails. He was at her side, she could sense it.

The X Tornado zoomed through the dark sky. Tails thought to himself I wonder if I could make the the X Tornado think the paint cans are missiles. "Well one way to find out."

Tails shoved the piant cans where the missiles would usually go. The X Tornado set off an alarm; Warning Foriegn Object In Missile Department. "Uh-Oh!" Tails exclaimed.

Sonic held his head in pain, then shook it. He didn't think enough for mind attacks to hurt him that much. "Look pal, I don't know who you are or where you came from, but if you're attacking my friends you're going down!" He zipped at him with a classic super spin dash.

Nite bashed against Amy's mind again, then he felt a thump in his head. A very familiar thump. His mind was getting tired. And he already started to get the headache of overusage of psychic power. Never mind, he thought. The fight was almost over. He completely lost his concentration for a second on purpose to release the group from the psychic hold, letting them see him again.

"Sorry, but I can't stick around for much longer. Eggman wants a good long talk with you all. And I wouldn't dream of standing in his way. As for now... Hehehe..."

His eyes them flared brighter than they have before. He grunted as the headache shot to a near-unbearable level, but the job was done. He linked his mind to all the group's minds, creating a matrix of mind links. Even tails, who was a distance away was linked. Then, Nite sent a signal down the links. A single signal. A signal that triggered the feeling of pain in the receiver's entire nervous system. It was a temporary thing, because it would last for under a minute. But it would cripple the team enough for Eggman to do his evil work. After sending the signal, he winked at them.

"Well, gotta fly! Toodles!"

Then he yelled over the cellphone: "Eggman! Your turn!", righted his bike, and got into the seat. He started itr back up, revved the engine, and whizzed by Knuckles and Rouge, heading back the way he came.

Rouge felt Nite whiz right by her, but she couldn't do anything about it. She was on the ground, and she couldn't get up due to a very clever move from the enemy. 'What's Eggman up to?' Rouge clenched her teeth and fists, closing her eyes. That was all her body would let her do right now.

'What's Eggman planning? I know I ditched him, but he didn't have to be so vain about it!'

"Allright then, here we go!!!" Eggman flew above the group, releasing the liquid on every one. He even made sure to hit the X Tornado so Tails wouldn’t be left out. After everyone lyed once again unconscious, Eggman spoke through his speaker.

"Good job Nite!" He turned his pane ready to leave "Now lets let them be for a bit, to get acquainted with their new selves!!!" Eggman let out an evil laugh that could be heard through Station Square as he took his leave.

Something had happened . . . Something had changed.

"Wha? What happened......" Amy groggily opened her eyes even though she still felt really tired. Reaching up to rub her sore head she noticed something...

"AHHHHHHH!" Amy jumped up and realized she was taller, about 3 feet added. "WHAT THE HECK?!?" Looking around she noticed she wasnt the only one like this, everyone was now well...human.....

"This isnt happening, This isnt happing!" Amy exclaimed. But someone caught her eye. She ran over to her beloved Sonic. The young girl had to admit, he was pretty handsome as a human.

"Sonikku! Sonikku.... wake up ...please"

Seriously GS, thanks so much for taking time out to do this. It's really cool to see something we all did together as a group such a long time ago. As for Cannon or noncannon, wellyou should continue however it is easier for you to write. If that's by the RPG than cool and if not totally cool as well. You ahave a style that's a lot different than how we wrote back then. I was actually afraid that would make it hard for you. ^__^;

I must say re-reading this is more enjoyable the second time. For the first time, I remember having to really quickly skim through the some 30 pages of the Search Chapter 1.

Do not worry Agoi. I was unable to come in with Shadow, until the Search Chapter 2. Which has all been erased from the Internet, besides the archive at the locked Old Shrine, and in our memories.

For us thats bad.
For Gs, that means a lot of artistic freedom.

The TT reference... the way she captured Amy's personality perfectly with the whole box-o-chocolates thing (I guess she's blind when it comes to Sonic... XD), and last but not least the toilet scrubber... which she took to the checkout anyway...

As a note to self... the third 'segment' in the story is a single post I posted, my first for this RP. It's notable for three reasons:
1. Sonic starts off in the EXACT same situation he was in when SW1 ended and he was returned to his dimension. B) I did this intentionally.
2. "a grapefruit, Numbah 4, and a book on Russian iconography" ...I have NO idea where I got those from... XD... But I know I was reading A Series of Unfortunate Events at the time...
3. It's probably one of the best posts I've ever posted in an RP... and that's saying something. ^^; Sonic is just so much fun to RP, I'd forgotten...

While the Rapidverse was invented after this RP, and while its entire purpose is to provide a fluid, retroconnable past, so that future RPs can be free to B-S make up the past as they go along, we also want our current RPs to mean something. So, by this logic, the Search, IE, FtE, TA, and STH (Did I forget one? 5onics was never intended to be one.), and the events contained therein, are all henceforth, therewith, and hargroves: canon. ^_^

XD I'm glad everyone enjoys this, but I feel I must ask:

I always find it amusing when a psychic comes in. He has the advantage, his power is not obvious and very much a wide-range ability with various effects. He holds the element of surprise.

I remember those days. Now, Nite is a good fella up to his neck, though still works for money. What merc doesn't like the gleam of cash? Now though, he has a few partners for himself... And a history.

And Nova. Yes.

Anyways, GS, you did a great job on this. However, you should review combat and always revise it. It seems jagged, as though it is told from several points of view instead of a single omniscient point of view. It's the only problem I see.

I... I kinda did it that way on purpose. To perserve the fact that it was written by more than one person.

I'll do it differently next time. I just wanted to perserve the RP-ness.

It's jagged. I'm not saying that it isn't good, but it's jagged. At some points, I messed up and had to re-read the lines to make sure that I understood them correctly. It's good that you are trying to preserve it in RP format and it looks good to be so...

But when the posts get frequent, the storyline becomes jagged and hard to understand.

I actually liked it this way. ^_^ It was pretty jagged, but it served the purpose better than a straight-off fic would have. And anyway, we get a full-fledged fic next time! ;D
