Title: Tekken.
Description: Feel the twah!

Any Tekken fans here?
For those not in the know, Tekken is a fighting game series from Namco. It basically centers around the Mishima bloodline, specifically the feud between Heihachi Mishima (main antagonist and sponsor of the tournaments), Kazuya Mishima (Anti-hero and hateful son of Heihachi), and Jin Kazama (Main protagonist and cursed son of Kazuya).
Tekken differs from other hand-to-hand fighting games in some ways. Traditional fighting games are usually played with buttons which correspond to the strength of the attack, such as strong punch or weak kick. Tekken, however, dedicates a button to each limb of the fighter, making learning special attacks more of an intuitive process. The player could watch the animation on screen and figure out the appropriate command (if the character kicks low with their right leg, the move is likely to be executed by pressing down and right kick, or a similar variation). Traditional fighting games, such as Street Fighter, involve inputting commands as rapidly and accurately as possible, whereas Tekken slows the action down, emphasizing rhythm, strategy, and deception over speed.
Anyways, pretty much discuss the games here.
(More proof that I totally suck at explaining things.)

I play Tekken!
I have a Tekken game on PlayStation, I think it's 3, but maybe it's 2 and I'm confused.
I like Heihachi, King and Yoshimitsu. :3

I have Tekken 3 for Playstation. I'm pretty adept at using Ling Xiaoyu. ^_^
Avenger29 - March 12, 2007 12:00 PM (GMT)
I've got the whole series except for DR on the PSP. I use Kazuya, Jun, Asuka, and Jin .
In fact, I'm almost unbeatable as Asuka.

I've seen that "live Tekken" thing before. Pretty good stuff if ya ask me!
Master Pogi - March 16, 2007 03:18 AM (GMT)
I'm a fan Tekken. I lover it super. I like Anna and Nina Williams, Ling Xiaoyu, Christie, and Asuka Kazama. I have Tekkens 1-5 and Tekken Tag Tournament. Awesome games.
Avenger29 - March 16, 2007 05:52 PM (GMT)
Woohoo! Another Asuka fan!
For me, 2 and Tag are the best games in the series.

Yeah, even today I play tag tournament. It never gets old.
Avenger29 - March 18, 2007 11:35 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I was playing it a couple hours ago, actually. The series definitely peaked with that. It had me hoping for something amazing out of Tekken 4...
Of course, I was miserably let down by that game.
Avenger29 - May 9, 2007 06:03 AM (GMT)
I REALLY hate to double post, but there is BIG news to share!
TEKKEN 6 STORY AND PROFILES!
tailsonic15 - May 10, 2007 12:57 AM (GMT)
Christie is my best character. I am unbeatable.
Clown Prince of Crime - May 10, 2007 01:22 AM (GMT)
Considering the circumstances, I guess there's nothing wrong with that double-post. There really wouldn't have been any other way to bump the topic.
In all honesty, the whole double-posting rule is mostly just to prevent flooding. Like, say, a person posting needlessly over and over when he/she doesn't get any replies. However, that isn't the case here.
And a new Tekken, eh? Cool.
tailsonic15 - May 10, 2007 01:59 AM (GMT)
Avenger29 - May 10, 2007 04:32 AM (GMT)
Thanks for that boss!
And TS! Brilliant find! I've been wanting some of the stuff with the new guys for a video I'm making!
As for you being unbeatable as Christie... Well, you haven't faced me and my Asuka yet! I'm pretty awesome as Kazzy as well!
Speaking of him, I am so glad to see him FINALLY be a major factor in the story again.
Avenger29 - June 21, 2007 04:31 AM (GMT)
Another bump, but once again, for big news.
I can't name it all here, but there was a HUGE unveiling at a Tekken 6 private show recently. The good folks at
SDTekken Have been keeping an eye on it all. Check it all out there!
And with Kazzy as the strongest Mishima now... I am uberpumped. This could be the one thing able to knock Budokai Tenkaichi 2 off it's post as 2007's best game.
Funny how both games are made by Bandai/Namco...
DBOZGT - June 26, 2007 03:07 PM (GMT)
Tekken Is pretty fun but fighting games kinda get old after a while. I pref the Arcade Version then the Console version because they take out some movies & Graphics are not as good as Arcade Version. That's why I never brough any tekken because it's not arcade Prefect.
Avenger29 - June 26, 2007 08:22 PM (GMT)
What? Its better than the arcade versions on the home consoles! The games really don't lose anything when converted to a home system, since the Tekken series has ALWAYS been ran on Playstation Family based hardware in the arcades.
In fact, it really gains more stuff in the home conversion.
No offense, but I honestly have no idea what you're talking about.
Avenger29 - November 5, 2007 06:13 PM (GMT)
Gah... Another sad, but needed double post.
http://sdtekken.com/2007/11/02/more-tekken-movie-details/If you thought the DBZ movie plotline was bad... Hoo boy...
tinmanti - November 5, 2007 09:12 PM (GMT)
Hey, lets hope it's not as bad as the DoA movie *shudders*
Now THAT was bad XD
Avenger29 - November 6, 2007 12:29 PM (GMT)
This is gonna make even the DOA games look good. And thats impossible.
Seriously. All boobs. No gameplay. How can that be fun for anybody?
Anyways, they've got the characters all wrong. Firstly, Kazuya never raped Jun. Not even he is that evil. Secondly, Jin is NOT a druggie. Up until Tekken 6, Jin has been a symbol of purity, even with his Devil gene. Law is not a powerhouse. He's a Bruce Lee knockoff. King has never won the title. Its all just.................GAH!
I'm absolutely offended by this.
tinmanti - November 6, 2007 05:13 PM (GMT)
Ya, I know what you mean :/
As a keen Tekken fan myself, I'm not to pleased by this XD
Hmm... I take it you're not a DoA fan
I have to admit, the only thing that really got my attention with that series is 'ninja gaiden'.
But still, back on topic, this is slightly annoying that they've changed it so much >.<
Avenger29 - November 6, 2007 09:03 PM (GMT)
DoA sucks. Like I mentioned above, the gameplay is non-existent, replacing what could be a decent fighter with, instead, boobs. Plus, the series' creator is an arrogant SOB.
But yeah. How could Namco allow this to happen?
tinmanti - November 6, 2007 10:36 PM (GMT)
I'll tell you how. MONEY.
It's what makes the world go round :/
That and the fact that the script writers can change it so it will fit in with the other blockbusters XD
Shame :/
Clown Prince of Crime - November 6, 2007 11:48 PM (GMT)
I realize the DoA games have a certain... reputation. But I don't think they're at all bad games. I think it is a decent fighter if you look past the... ummm... attention grabbers, so to speak. Besides... Ryu Hayabusa, baby! Having him in a fighting game is just epic win in my book.
Though, ya, the Tekken games are still better, I suppose.
But nothing... NOTHING even comes close to the greatness that is Street Fighter...
Avenger29 - November 7, 2007 04:16 PM (GMT)
Until SFIV comes out, it'll be tough to compare Tekken and Street Fighter, since technically, they're in different genres. Tekken, of course, being in the 3D Fighter genre, and Street Fighter, unless you count the stellar EX series, being exclusive to the 2D Fighter genre. Tekken is undoubtedly the best 3D fighter series out there, and Street Fighter is, was, and will forever be, the greatest 2D fighter ever.

A men to that
Weren't they in the same game once? You know, the Tekken and street fighter characters? I thought I read it somewhere...
Avenger29 - November 7, 2007 06:56 PM (GMT)
No. You probably just read about MUGEN.
tinmanti - November 7, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
I must admit, I do love my MUGEN :heh:
But, on my search for where I read it, I found this.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namco_X_CapcomUnfortunatly, it ain't a proper fighting game, but it features capcom and namco characters in the same game XD
Avenger29 - November 7, 2007 08:17 PM (GMT)
Ah, that. Yeah, it was an RPG with SD characters. I've heard it was decent, but I've never personally played it.
tinmanti - November 7, 2007 10:37 PM (GMT)
Neaver played I :/
Would be interesting to play though.
Avenger29 - November 18, 2007 06:53 AM (GMT)
From High Score Online.

We would first like to take the time to thank Jason Arney of Namco for showcasing Tekken 6 to us and giving us all the information regarding the US arcade release. So big thanks to Mr. Jason Arney! The following impressions and information is based on a product work in progress and may not be representative of the final product. Please keep that in mind as you read along!
Tekken 6 has to be the best looking 3D fighter ever, easily. It trumps both Sega’s Virtua Fighter 5 and Tecmo’s Dead or Alive 4 in the pretty department, a feat that is actually a sight to see. The music tracks are very energetic and upbeat, similar to those found in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection and Tekken 5. The in game sounds are remarkable and the effects vary based on where in the stage you are located. The sounds also change when the character is put into ‘rage’ mode!
While the console version of Tekken 6 is quite a while away, we did get some new information on the arcade release of Tekken 6. The game is going to cost roughly $10,000 USD and will only be sold as a dedicated cabinet. Namco will be selling directly to consumers and will not be mass producing these units like previous Tekken games. Tekken 6 will be a scarce arcade machine unless many arcades decide to purchase it. There will be no kit version as Tekken 6 will only run on high-resolution monitors. Those of you looking to purchase a supergun and play on your TV will be sad to hear that Tekken 6 will not support standard JAMMA signals, only HD. The arcade board is rather unique this time around as everything connects on the PS3 power based arcade board using USB. That’s right, USB connects everything from controls, to the main motherboard, and everything else in between.
The US version of Tekken 6 will be made available to consumers who wish to order by as early as the end of December to early January. |
Ok. My take on this.
First off, to the creator of DOA, Tomonobu Itagaki: Take a nice big look at the following.
"Tekken 6 has to be the best looking 3D fighter ever, easily. It trumps both Sega’s Virtua Fighter 5 and Tecmo’s Dead or Alive 4 in the pretty department, a feat that is actually a sight to see."
Thats right. Suck on that, you arrogant, perverted smurfbag.
</avengerant>
Ok, back to my unbiased report. Hearing any sort of comparison to Tekken 5 is definitely a high note for me, as I consider Tekken 5 to be the greatest 3D fighter in history. If Namco can actually top that piece of perfection, I'll cry tears of joy all over the game, in front of everybody I know.
That is, if any arcades around here can pony up the 10,000 duckies to buy the thing. Here's what I have to say, though. With a game this big and this impressive, its absolutely impossible to think that arcades can't make a profit off of it. I mean, just I alone can blow about $40 on tokens for just Tekken 5 alone.
Anyways, this really brings the anticipation levels up to new heights for me. The only downsides so far happen to be a couple of the characters. First off, Bob. No. Not Hwoarang. An actual character named Bob. He's super fat and supposed to be super fast. How the hell do you get that? Seriously... You can't be expecting anybody to use him, Namco.
Secondly, my main girl, Asuka. I'm overjoyed that she's back, and remotely unchanged, gameplay and attitude-wise, but her story. It BLOWS. Its pretty much the same as last time! Where's the character depth there?
All in all, though, I'm hyped.
DBOZGT - December 19, 2007 08:37 AM (GMT)
I dont like tekken all that much but Tekken 6 looks really good.
Avenger29 - December 19, 2007 09:42 PM (GMT)
Gah... Time to restore some dignity back to my beloved Tekken thread.
Ok, I know I said some things about the new Rage System being a total waste of time, but
this tournament video puts all my doubts to rest.
Rage Mode is an insane gamebreaker, allowing the tide of the game to turn on a dime. I've been watching Tekken tourney videos for a long time now, and never have I seen such epic comebacks. You can't just rest on your laurels in this one. It fits my aggressive style perfectly.
tinmanti - December 20, 2007 06:54 PM (GMT)
Shame on us for douting something in the fighting system of Tekken. The new RAGE system is going to add something new to the game :w00t:
Seriously though, Whats up with that new boss character?
DBOZGT - December 22, 2007 12:46 AM (GMT)
Why are you fighting about fighting game yes true..... We all got different option about stuff but you got to realize that it's not all about the grahics it's about game play
That's how I look at it is game play..........
