Episode IV: Detectives, Cannons and Leeches
“Those guy were tough. A lot tougher than the usual villains around here.”
By now, Sama and Koa had reached the Flan-I Temple. HA had hurried and taken Koa off to another part of the temple to test her (and to try to sell her some leeches) and see if she would be able to become a Flan-I. Sama, meanwhile, was taken to the medical bay and was now lying on an uncomfortable cot as Crystal treated his head wound.
“This is a pretty nasty cut . . .” Crystal said as she wiped away the blood. “What were you doing!?”
Sama sighed and winced. The sigh was because he had clearly failed in battle, the wince was because a cloth was swabbing at the fresh gash on his head.
“They looked like normal guys... I didn't know they had super powers!” Sama would have shaken his head, but doing so would have been bad right now. Crystal turned away from him and deposited the bloody cloth in a garbage can, then she began to root around in a drawer, looking for something.
“Their watches . . . they made them super powerful. It was crazy.” Sama recalled.
“Well, the important thing is you got the apprentice!” Crystal said cheerfully as she turned back around. Sama felt reassured for a moment . . . and then he noticed the spool of thread and long needle Crystal was holding. He immediately swallowed.
“Umm . . . w-what's that for?” Sama asked, his eyes not leaving the shiny surface of the needle.
“You need stitches.” Crystal told him, and Sama made a whimpering sound like a hurt dog. Crystal quirked an eyebrow. “Oh come on, you're constantly getting chased by evil monsters and fighting the worst villains in Teh City, don't tell me you're afraid of a little needle.”
Sama's response could have been seen from a mile away. “I'm not afraid of a little needle... but that's HUGE! It's like a samurai sword!”
Clearly he was exaggerating, but the sidekick did not like needles. Crystal muttered a sigh and then made things as clear as, well, crystal. “Sama, if I don't stitch it up you could bleed to death, or it could get infected, and then HA's going to stick leeches all over you.”
Sama's jaw dropped. “Dude . . . but . . . you're supposed to be all cute and cheerful . . . that was a little dark and disturbing.”
The Flan-I Master shrugged. “Okay, I won't stitch up your head.”
“Really?” Sama got wide-eyed and smiled optimistically.
“Yep, really . . . I'll let HA do it.”
Sama paused. If one of his friends had to take a needle and thread to his head, it was probably in everyone's best interest if said friend wasn't HA. Sama sighed and surrendered, realizing there was no way around it.
“Hey . . . what's that thing?” Sama blinked and looked over to his right. Well, as much as he could anyway. Crystal was now in front of him stitching up his forehead, and she'd warned him not to make any sudden movements. However, as his eyes darted to the right he noticed Tazzy was standing to the side of them and pointing at his foot.
“Did I step in something? Darn, I like these shoes . . .” Sama sighed, but Tazzy shook her head and grabbed something from the bottom of his shoe.
“It's some kind of watch.” Tazzy realized as she pulled it from the bottom of Sama's shoe. The sidekick gasped and almost moved his head when it dawned on him what it was.
“That was one of the watch things those crazy guys had!” Sama exclaimed.
“Really?” Tazzy held it up to the light, inspecting it. “That's strange . . . Hey, you mind if I keep this? Maybe if we study it we can figure out who made it, and where those guys came from.”
“I don't care. I'm not going to play around with a freaky weapon I know nothing about. Believe me, I learned that lesson the day I stumbled into HA's workshop while looking for the kitchen.” Sama seemed to shudder, a horrible memory floating through his mind. Crystal poked him to remind him to stay still.
“I'll run this thing through some of the data banks and see if we can get a match.” Tazzy announced, and then the purple robed Flan-I hurried out of the room in favor of the library.
“I'm sure Tazzy can find whoever made that watch. She archived most of the stuff in the library when she was a apprentice.” Crystal told Sama.
“Really?” Sama tried to look up at his Master, but once again the fear of moving his head and having a needle accidentally thread his eye was too much. “Huh . . . kind of ironic that the Flan-I responsible for all the Order's knowledge is the same Flan-I who lost all of her memories and lived on a farm.”
Crystal shrugged. “It's not as weird as most of the stuff that goes on around here.”
“That's a good point . . .” The sidekick replied. Then all at once Crystal leaned back up and sat the thread and needle on a table.
“All done! See, that wasn't so bad, was it?” Crystal smiled cheerfully.
Sama blinked. “Surprisingly no . . . to think, I just had a big needle jammed through my already cut skin several times . . . actually I really shouldn't have thought about that.” Sama winced, as the pain he had forgotten he had settled back in.
The Flan-I Libraries are home to vast amounts of knowledge. Not only do they contain thousands of dusty old books that are almost never touched, but there's a super-powered computer as well. Despite the massive amount of games downloaded by Flan-I, the computer was still the fastest and most reliable in Teh City. It sat in the back on a old oak desk, and right in front of the dim light of the screen was Tazzy.
To her left was a large metal cylinder in which she had placed the watch. The cylinder was spinning around and emitting a dim red light as it scanned the watch for any kind of tool marks, special symbols and identification of all kinds; as well as simultaneously scanning it's various components to figure out what it was made from. It was like CSI to the extreme.
With the same 'ding' heard by a finished microwave, the machine was finished and suddenly the results popped up on the screen in front of Tazzy. She looked them over for a moment, but as she began to read through some of the various screens, the words vanished in front of her, replaced by new words.
“Property of the Amestries Military Records – Unauthorized Access Strictly Prohibited.”
“What? Aww!” Tazzy shook her head and then leaned back in her chair. “Amestries Military? Isn't there a Military Embassy here in Teh City? Maybe Spoony could talk to them and we could get those records.”
Suddenly out of the darkness of the library around her, a voice spoke. “OR you could sneak in all spy like and steal the records.”
Tazzy turned her head to see HA standing beside her. “Hey, aren't you supposed to be testing Koa and making sure she's qualified enough to be trained?”
HA shrugged. “Already done. Now I'm sneaking around in the dark and TRYING to scare people. Man, you didn't jump at all.” HA seemed rather disappointed.
“Well you're zero for two then, because I'm not sneaking into a Military Embassy. That would be really illegal and could start a war.” Tazzy crossed her arms. “I'll just have Spoony talk to Mustang.”
HA, for the second time, shrugged. “Whatever. If you change your mind, I'll come find ya.”
“We do have one problem.”
The evil duo responsible for most of the evil in Teh City, Darth CHoW and Darth Rowen, were now at the edge of Teh City. It was the middle of the night and the two could walk around mostly unnoticed. As the two stepped down the cold streets, beneath the dim street lights, a thought struck Rowen.
“Hey . . . I sorta promised Kimi I wouldn't cause any trouble today.” Rowen remembered.
“So?” CHoW was presumably looking skeptic, but who really knows.
“Well, she seemed like she'd get really mad if I caused trouble today. Like . . . boil me in tomato sauce mad.” Rowen shuddered.
CHoW cleared his throat. “That was just rude . . . but nevertheless, it might be GOOD if you do take the day off. After all, as far as those heroes know, I'm still missing.” CHoW wrung his hands in a evil, Burns-ish way.
“Great! Well, good luck with the evil stuff.” Rowen waved to his friend and headed off down the street. It was only then that he realized something else. “Wow . . . I haven't taken a day off since I was good. I wonder what I should do . . .”
Rowen looked up and suddenly an idea struck him. “That would be fun!”
Crystal was sitting in the living room of the Temple. She would have normally gone to bed by now, but she had a feeling that something was going to happen. After all, they'd already had a lot of strange things happen over the last few hours . . . and she just knew that the second she got warm and comfy beneath the covers an alarm would ring and there would be some horrible evil menacing Teh City.
Suddenly a door opened and Kimi can floating out, holding a large bag over her back. Crystal raised an eyebrow. “Umm . . . Kimi? Where are you going?”
“The movies.” Kimi announced with a grin.
Crystal blinked once, and then a second time. “Kimi, it's almost midnight.”
“WHAT!? It's that late? Crap! I gotta get going!” Kimi flew towards the door, but the Flan-I Master was just too curious to let her go now. She jumped up from the couch and back-flipped down right in front of th door.
“Kimi, it's almost midnight, why would you go to the movies now?” Crystal asked.
“They're having a special midnight showing, for one thing.” Kimi announced. “Plus . . . I still have a whole day off. If I see the movie now --”
“You can help stop the evil meanies?” Crystal suggested.
“What? NO! I can waste the day reading manga at the manga shop until the owner kicks me out for not buying anything.” Kimi nodded. Crystal sweat dropped.
“Oh . . . okay then.” Crystal shrugged. She'd long-since known that it was foolish to try to talk Kimi out of doing something. Kimi was about to walk out the door, but suddenly there was a loud scream.
“GET IT OFF MY HEAD! AYIEEEEEEEEEE!” Sama stumbled out of the hallway, a gigantic black slimy creature with no legs was wound around Sama's body, it's mouth attached to his stitched up head.
“Down! DOWN SHANNON, BAD LEECH!” HA ran out behind him, swatting at the anaconda-sized leech with a large, pointy metal stick. It seemed to be making the leech incredibly angry, which was causing it to bite Sama more savagely. That made him whimper louder, which made HA angrier causing him to hit harder.
Kimi and Crystal exchanged glances and sighed. Kimi then hurried out the door for the movie theater, leaving Crystal in charge of fixing whatever horrors had happened.
Crystal raised her hand and sent an electric jolt from her fingers into the leech. The leech roared and released the sidekick. Unfortunately, as previously stated, HA was hitting the leech with a pointy metal stick. He was electrocuted too, falling backwards.
“Bah.” HA coughed.
“I'm alive?” Sama stammered.
“I told you to get those leeches out of here!” Crystal yelled at the hooded Flan-I, who mumbled under his breathe in response.
“Fine, fine.” HA scooped up the large, paralyzed leech and hurried back towards his room. He opened the door, tossed the leech in, and then slammed it shut in a hurry as if afraid something else might escape.
Crystal shuddered. No one, except HA himself, was sure what he had in his room . . . and no one really had any interest in finding out.
“I think the leech drank all my blood.” Sama sighed. His skin had become pasty and as white as chalk, and the wound on his head was open once again.
“You should have known better than to ask HA for help.” Crystal shook her head.
“He said the leeches could take the pain away!” Sama tried to defend his actions. Then, all at once, he stood up. “Actually, leeches release a powerful anti-coagulate to stop their victim's blood from clotting, as well as a powerful pain-killer. This is why most people don't even realize they have a leech stuck on them for quite some time. The more you know.”

Sama blinked and was on the ground again. “Was that a joke, or was that supposed to have actually happened?”
“It's hard to tell sometimes.” Crystal shrugged. “Anyway, I better heal you before you die, or demolish what little of the fourth wall that's left.”
Crystal used the Flan to turn on the faucet, then she used her water-bending to spray the water towards Sama's head. The water shimmered with a blue light and Sama's forehead healed and his natural complexion returned.
“... I'm grateful that you saved my life and all . . . but I gotta wonder why you didn't just do that the first time.” Sama wondered aloud.
Tazzy knew the only way to solve the mystery of who the three strangers were was to see the classified military records. She also knew that getting to those records would be dangerous, since she had no affiliation with the military. Since they were stored in the Embassy's archives, it could be a huge incident if she got caught trying to steal them. Not only that . . . but Winry was a Amestries citizen, and if she started a conflict between Teh City and Winry's country, it would make Spoony livid with rage.
So, she did the only thing she could do in the situation, and contacted a man who worked at the Embassy. He had agreed to help her, but he wanted something in return.
“So, you understand the deal? I'll help you get those classified records, and in exchange you have to put a picture of my darling little Eliciya on billboards all over Teh City!” Maes Hughes struck a dramatic pose. “Then all the world shall know of my cute daughter!”
Tazzy sweat dropped. “Yeah, no problem.”
“Great! Then let's get going.” Hughes motioned for Tazzy to follow him. The two were walking down a very dark hallway in the Military Embassy's basement. It was here that they stored the archives, and also (as coincidence would have it) their most powerful weapon.
“What's in that room?” Tazzy asked, pointing to a large red door with the words “ENTRY PROHIBITED TO EVERYONE” written on the wall above it.
“Eh? Oh, that's the top secret Eclipse ARK Cannon. No one's supposed to know about it.” Hughes smiled. “Don't tell anyone, but I sneak in there and show it pictures of my darling Eliciya sometimes.”
“It's ALIVE?” Tazzy blinked.
“Of course! The Eclipse ARK Cannon is a powerful warrior. He's from another planet or something. He loves to fight and will help whoever defeats him in battle. Roy beat him, so now he lives in the basement. He's helping Roy pass that 'all-female-officers-must-wear-skirts' policy he's wanted for so long.” Hughes sure seemed blabby about the top secret stuff. “Why do you ask, anyway?”
“The door's open.” Tazzy pointed. Hughes looked over and then yelped.
“Oh man, oh man! This is bad! Aside from helping to pass pointless policies, that guy has enough power to destroy entire countries without breaking a sweat! This is BAD!” Hughes started to bite his nails.
Then, out of the open door, Darth CHoW stepped out. He looked over and noticed Tazzy and Hughes and then he paused.
“Whoa . . . didn't expect company.” CHoW rubbed the back of his helmet.
“CHoW!? What . . . you're . . . whaaaat!?” Tazzy was confused by this, as the last she knew CHoW was missing. She should know, too, since Crystal was adamant about finding CHoW and Rowen and finding a way to turn them good once again.
“Hmm . . . this presents a problem.” CHoW rubbed his chin. “I could get into a big long fight with you and try to defeat you, or . . . ECLIPSE!”
Behind him a second figure stepped out from the door. He looked ordinary, but he was far from it. He was the Eclipse ARK Cannon – a special code name given to the strongest warrior on his planet.
“Yeah?” Eclipse asked.
“We have a bit of a problem . . . destroy those two!” CHoW pointed and laugh evilly.
“That isn't a problem.” Eclipse smirked. Then he shot forward faster than a bullet and smashed his fist into the ground. Tazzy yelped and jumped away, and Hughes screamed, complained about never having any special powers but always being in these situations, and quickly ran to the safety of the archives.
Tazzy activated her purple saber and flipped through the air, landing on the ground behind Eclipse. She slashed at his back, but the warrior called Cannon did not flinch.
“Flan? I recognize your power . . . It is no match for me.” Eclipse told her, and then he spun around and aimed a kick at Tazzy's head. She dodged down, rolling across the ground and away from her enemy's foot. The kick broke a large hole in the wall.
“Eek . . . this guy's powerful.” Tazzy gulped. There was no way one Flan-I could fight this guy alone. His power was incredible. Suddenly a second punch came at her and she jumped away from it. As she jumped, the watch she'd wanted to research fell off her belt and onto the ground.
Eclipse paused as he noticed it. “Why . . . Why do you have my watch?” Eclipse asked.
Tazzy froze. “Eh!? Your watch?”
Eclipse rounded at her, and he looked very angry. “I made those watches for the Global Defense Force! A team of super heroes who protect the universe! I liked them, so I made them special watches with powers like my own! The fact you have one . . . you must be a true super villain!”
“SHE IS!” CHoW stepped forward. “She and the Flan-I are the worst villains on the planet! Especially this annoying girl and her buffoon friend. I came to find you so you could help destroy them!”
“Then I will!” Eclipse roared, and he began to charge up something in the palm of his hand. Tazzy saw the light and knew it wouldn't be good.
“We're not the villains! CHoW is!” Tazzy shouted.
“Chow? Who is that?” Eclipse demanded.
“Uh, the bad guy I told you about!” CHoW ran up to the Cannon's side, and Tazzy raised an eyebrow. “Yeah . . . and you have to help me stop CHoW because I'm the hero – uh, Wonder Sama!”
Tazzy blinked. “WHAT!?”
“Yes! I'm Wonder Sama the defender of justice! Now, let's get out of here so we can go meet up with Kimi and save the world!” CHoW knew that Eclipse had heard of Super Kimi and Wonder Sama before, but CHoW also knew he had never seen them. Hopefully the ruse would work.
“Oh come on . . . that's just stupidity!” Tazzy shook her head. “Don't listen to him!”
“She's a evil villain! Destroy her!” CHoW demanded.
“I must eliminate evil. It's what I do.” Eclipse nodded, and then he held open his hand. “ARK BLAST!”
A blast of light shot towards Tazzy and she stomped the ground, raising a barrier of earth around her on all sides. The light consumed the barrier . . .
While everyone else was involved in dangerous things, Kimi was determined to enjoy her one day off. This movie was supposed to be the greatest film made in the last seven years, and 'excited' didn't even begin to describe how much she was looking forward to seeing it.
Kimi floated into the theater, quickly making her way to the counter. She bought a ticket and smiled brightly at the ticket counter guy. Then she hurried to where a girl chewing gum was waiting to take her ticket. Kimi handed it over, smiled and moved forward to the theater room. She was dragging the big bag of candy behind her, but nobody tried to stop her. She was a famous super hero, after all.
After getting into the theater, Kimi flew over the crowds of people already sitting down and she took a seat right in the perfect row. She dropped the bag of candy in front of her and grinned. Nothing could ruin her good mood right now. Best of all, the seats on either side of her were empty so she had elbow room!
“Is this seat taken?” A boy's voice spoke to her, and she looked up to see someone standing beside her. That someone had a giant soda in his arms, which completely blocked the view of his face or any identifiable features.
“Nope! Sit down pal!” Kimi was in such a good mood she didn't even care that she was losing part of her elbow room.
“Thanks.” The boy sat down his big soda, looked over at Kimi, and then they both screamed.
“COOJIE!” Kimi looked like she was ready to kill someone – which she was.
“AH!” Rowen yelped and almost spilled his soda. “No! It's not what you think!”
“I told you not to do anything evil! I warned you . . .” Kimi cracked her knuckles.
Rowen shook his head. “I'm just here to see the movie! Honest! Ah, it's starting!” Rowen pointed at the screen.
Kimi paused. On the one hand, she thought Rowen was probably up to something. On the other hand, she really wanted to see this movie. With a huff she crossed her arms and sat back. “FINE! But you better not ruin this movie for me or you're dead!”
The Military Base was in pretty bad shape after Eclipse's cannon went off, destroying most of the basement. There was a large dome of stone on the ground. It was broken and cracked in various places. All at once the dome shattered and Tazzy pulled herself out. Her hair was frizzled and she was covered in dirt, but there was no serious damage.
“Pah.” Tazzy shook her head, trying to get some of the dirt from out of her hair. “That guy was insanely powerful . . . but, at least I found out where the watches came from!” She suddenly remembered something. “AH! I've got to warn the others!”
“Hey, over here.” A young boy was standing a few feet away in the rubble. He waved her over. “Follow me, I'll get you out of here!”
“Who are you?” Tazzy asked, puzzled.
“Name's TS!” The boy shouted back. “If the Military finds you here they'll blame you! It could start a war! Come on!”
Tazzy nodded and ran after him. They ran out of the burnt military embassy and over to the side of the road, where a strange looking car was waiting. TS jumped behind the wheel and Tazzy climbed in the passenger seat. The car took off as they charged down the street. TS flipped a button on the control panel and a small radio just beneath the A/C controls clicked on.
“Yes?” A voice asked.
“I found her. We're returning to base now.” TS said.
“Good.” The voice replied.
“Who are you?” Tazzy asked again. He had told her his name, but she knew nothing else.
“He works for me.” The voice replied. “Anything else can wait until you get here.”
Tazzy suddenly had a very bad feeling about all of this.
The movie was great, so far. Despite the fact one of her arch enemies was seated right next to her, Kimi was enjoying the film. Of course, she made sure to drink a lot of soda so that if she had too she could burn Rowen to a crisp with her flaming burp.
What neither of them knew was that in the row right behind them was a girl with dark eyes. She was called Anemone. She was more skilled than most, and able to mask her powers from Rowen's heightened senses. She looked like she was just out for the film, but there was an evil purpose in her mind.
Yo!
Eclipse ARK Cannon – Kai Killik
Anemone – Master Pogi
