Title: Island
Description: Sonic and Metal, Stranded

Well this certainly came out of the blue, didn't it? Been working on the concept of this fic for a bit, probably won't be to long, but I think you guys will like this. I want to just focus with Metal Sonic and Sonic here, so don't expect scenes with the others...

Summary: Sonic awakes, tied to a pole on a humid, deserted island, to find his only other companion is Metal Sonic. Not knowing where they are, the two are forced to band together in order to survive, and find a way back home.

Sonic awoke groggily, unsure of where he was or how he got there. It was an interesting location, to the say the least.

He saw rocks, and a lot of green. Upon closer inspection he noticed the green was plant life. He also noticed that it was humid. Sweat was already beading down his forehead, and his quills would be droopy.

Would be, as he was currently tied to a pole. Very well too. He couldn’t wriggle out or anything.

His mind was racing about what had happened. Last thing he could remember was heading over to his favorite chili dog restaurant with Tails. Did Eggman somehow captured him?

Sonic shook his head slightly. He couldn’t remember anything.

“Well…well…well…” a cold robotic voice said suddenly. Sonic tensed up, as out of the foliage emerged a cool blue robot.

Metal Sonic.

“Where am I? Where’s Tails? Why are you here?” Sonic demanded, eying Metal Sonic as the robot neared him.

“Current Data Unknown,” Metal Sonic replied, then shrugged, “I know as much as you about this, possibly a little more. We seem to be on some sort of deserted island. Ocean as far as my optics can sense.” The Sonic metallic doppelganger leaned forward, peering at a bead of sweat that rolled down Sonic’s forehead, and a warm metal hand touched Sonic’s cheek, as biological eyes stared at robotic optics.

“It would be so easy for me to kill you now,” Metal Sonic laughed, retracting his hand from the Mobians cheek, then in a flash as they seemed to sharpen into claws. A single slice, a small drop of blood rolled down Sonic’s cheek, mixing with the sweat and dropping from his chin.

Sonic sneered, “You’re despicable. My friends would hunt you down.”

Metal Sonic stepped backwards from Sonic, his clawed hand returning to a less harmful kind. He then laughed, a hurtful sound to Sonic’s ears, as it seemed merely to be an imitation of a laugh, not a real one, no actual feeling behind it. But the meaning still rung true.

“You really think I would stoop to that level? No, when I kill you it will be with you at your best. Not like this,” Metal Sonic said, shaking his head. Another slash and Sonic felt the ropes fall from him. He fell down, not quite prepared for the sudden shift, and landed on his knees, dropping down unto his hands as well.

“No, right now we have more to worry about then a petty rivalry. I’ll show you the beach,” Metal Sonic said simply, as Sonic picked himself up.

“Humph. Why haven’t you just flown out of here now?” Sonic wondered, dusting himself off, and then following after Metal Sonic when he had just turned and walked into the jungle-like environment.

“Be careful. You could get lost in here,” Metal Sonic warned, then decided to address his reason for existence’s question. “It’s simple. I have no idea where we are. I could run out of fuel by the time I find land. And I can’t walk there either. The water depth would crush me.”

“Don’t you have some sort of GPS chip or something installed?” Sonic wondered, crashing through the undergrowth, swatting away a few big bugs, keeping Metal Sonic in sight.

Metal Sonic paused, turning around to face Sonic, who had to stop abruptly.

“It’s broken. Whoever, or whatever, put us here doesn’t want us leaving. It’s possible my link is simply being disrupted, the chip is damaged/stolen, or the Eggman satellite is down,” the robot answered slowly.

“Great. Can you sense any Chaos Emeralds?” Sonic wondered.

“I do not ‘sense’ as you call it. I can home in on Chaos Signatures, by comparing the energy levels to normal output,” Metal Sonic replied, going back through the undergrowth. Sonic followed.

“Okay…so…Can’t you do that?” Sonic asked, jumping to avoid a large fallen tree trunk. Metal Sonic kept going, and answered as he sliced through the undergrowth.

“No. Again, my link is being disrupted. I’m stranded here just as much as you are,” Metal Sonic answered. “Neither of us have even a fake Chaos Emerald either, so your friends have a very slim chance of finding you.”

Sonic frowned again as he smelled salt. They must be near the beach. With a few more slices from Metal Sonic’s robotic hands, they stood on hot sand, peering at the endless blue.

“It’s…it’s so big…Makes you feel kinda insignificant, don’t it?” Sonic muttered, eyes darting to his metal doppelganger.

“No. I have no feelings of ‘insignificant.’ I simply exist to do what I was programmed to do, nothing more, nothing less,” Metal Sonic answered curtly, eyes scanning the sky.

Sonic followed his gaze to the sky, then an idea appeared in his head.

“Hey! The stars! We can use the stars to navigate! We can figure out where we are!” Sonic said excitedly, pumping his fist in the air.

“Do you have that knowledge? I have nothing in my data space of traveling by the stars,” Metal Sonic said, crushing Sonic’s plan.

“Oh…Well…” Sonic began. His mind raced like he did, picking up idea after idea as he considered his options.

“A boat…We could make a boat and load it with food!” Sonic said, snapping his fingers.

“Again, no knowledge of boat building exists in my files, and I have no need of food. Why should I help you?” Metal Sonic replied with his cold robotic voice.

“Well…how hard could it be?” Sonic wondered, “It’s our best bet to get out of here.”

“And if it does not work, you will die. If it sinks, you’re on your own,” Metal Sonic answered. “If you run out of food and drink, I will not find you more.”

Sonic frowned. “But will you help make the boat?”

Metal Sonic gave his version of a sigh, and turned to Sonic. “Yes. I will. But I expect something in return.”

Sonic paused, tapping his chin thoughtfully, attempting to figure out what Metal would want.

“Err…I’ll get you a toaster?” Sonic offered lamely.

Metal Sonic just stared at Sonic with contempt, wondering why he shouldn’t just attack and/or kill his biological counterpart right now.

“No Sonic…I want a battle, when we get back and your are back up to speed. No Chaos Emeralds, no allies. Just us in a fight, to see who is better,” Metal Sonic finally said.

“Fine! Sounds like a deal!” Sonic grinned, then held out his hand.

“…What are you doing?” Metal demanded, not making a move to take the hand, red glowing eyes glaring at it.

“It’s a handshake…To seal deals, people usually clasp hands and shake on it,” Sonic explained, “Here.”

He took Metal Sonic’s right hand as well, clasping it tightly and pumping his arm up and down a few times, “Like that.”

Metal Sonic merely complied and shook Sonic’s hand. “Fine…Now let’s figure out what resources we have on this island first…”
