(SK&WS): Special Episode – Crystal's Birthday
The Flan-I Temple looked exactly the same on the outside as it always did. However, behind the closed doors, the inside of the temple looked very different. The walls had been covered by new wallpaper – pink wallpaper. There were several large, fluffy, pink bunny rabbits running around the room.
“... What the --” HA the Swordsmaster was about to be bleeped by the censors when the doors opened. He had just arrived at the temple and he found the entire place covered in fluffy pink bunnies, not to mention streamers and flags.
“Hey.” Suddenly HA looked over to see Kimi lying on the couch reading a manga. HA blinked behind his hood and walked across the room, careful not to step on any rabbits. Then he looked at Kimi in disbelief. She was lying there as if nothing weird was happening at all. She even had a rabbit on her head.
“Hey...? HEY!?! That's all you have to say!? What's the deal with the fricking rabbits and the horrible pink theme!?” HA demanded.
“Hmm? Oh. Yeah, Tazzy and Sama are throwing a party for Crystal. I'm watching the bunny while they go and get the cake and presents.” Kimi's face didn't leave the confines of the manga pages.
“WHY ARE THERE SO MANY RABBITS!?” HA knew that there were certain realities he had to live with. Crystal would huggle him, Sama would break expensive things, Kimi would eat everything in their fridge and then leave . . . but he could not and would not accept a army of rabbits.
“What are you talking about? I only bought one bunny at the store.” Kimi was still reading the manga. HA blinked twice and then he grabbed the manga away from her. Kimi made a whimpering noise, but then she noticed the army of bunnies and sweat dropped. “Oh...”
“OH!?” HA growled. “Kimi, where did you get the bunny?”
“Internet.” Kimi replied at once. “You expect me to go to the pet store? I already left the house once today to come here. I found a thing that said 'rabbit 4 sale' and I clicked on it.”
“Kimi . . . there's got to be at least six hundred rabbits in here! They're cute and pink and fuzzy . . . IT'S PHYSICALLY PAINFUL FOR ME!” HA gritted his teeth. “Bah. For MY birthday I want a snake.”
Meanwhile, across town at the bakery . . .
“THAT's the cake?”
The Flan-I called Tazzy was standing beside the counter at the local bakery. Kimi had been nice enough to call ahead and order a cake for the party (since Kimi knows the bakery quite well). Unfortunately, when Tazzy had gotten to the counter and given the lady at the register their order number, the lady had brought out a big box.
“Yeah. Kimi ordered her usual.” The register lady replied.
Tazzy looked at the box in front of her . . . it was at least two feet taller than she was and it was wide enough that you could hide a small car behind it. Tazzy scratched her ear. “How am I supposed to get this all the way to the tower?”
“I don't know.” The register lady replied. Then she cleared her throat. “Kimi has an account so you don't have to pay . . . but . . .” The lady nudged the tip jar forward.
Tazzy felt a drop of sweat fall down her neck. She dug in her pocket and dropped a few dollars in the tip jar, but the lady cleared her throat again. Tazzy blinked. “Well . . . it couldn't have been easy – or physically possible – to bake that cake in your oven, so I guess it's alright.”
After depositing some more money, Tazzy turned her attention to the box. She wouldn't even try to pick it up – she might get crushed. Instead she walked around to the other side of the giant cake box and pushed it. Slowly the cake began to crawl towards the door. “Oi... well, it IS for Crystal...”
“OI! . . . Well, it is for Crystal.”
Meanwhile, across town at a local arcade, Wonder Sama was going through all of his pockets in search of his wallet. In front of him was a small counter and behind it stood a slick-haired man in a pinstripe suit.
“I'm just glad I earned all that money in that cooking contest . . . who knew that cooking for Kimi for the last couple of years would turn me into a rookie chef.” Sama finally found what he was looking for – his wallet! He popped it open and then blinked.
“Ah . . . uh . . . wait, what?” Instead of a pile of money, as he remembered putting in his wallet after winning the cooking contest, he found a few cake crumbs. “That's not right . . . I lost all my cash!”
“That sucks, but you need money to buy this.” The slick-haired man said.
“Yeah, I know!” Sama slapped his head. “I don't get this . . . I had a lot of money a few hours ago. I haven't taken my wallet out either! It's weird . . . I mean, it's not like I know anybody who could steal my cash without my knowing it....”
“Wooo! More booze!” Bender yelled to the bartender.
“Next time we steal stuff, I pick where we spent the loot.” Blackfire complained.
“Anyway... look, arcade guy, I need this machine.” Sama tried to explain.
“You may have it.” The slick-haired man nodded. “When I get my money.”
Sama sighed. “But... it's my friend's birthday, you know... I was in charge of buying this present... so... can't I just have it?”
“Hell no.” The man crossed his arms.
“Oh... well... uhh... I'm a super hero. I'm commandeering this for official, supery-hero business.” Sama said dramatically.
“... You're just the sidekick. I watch the news.” The man was getting annoyed.
“BLAST!” Sama crossed his arms. “Come on, dude! This is my teacher we're talking about! I gotta get her a good gift! I'll do anything!”
“Anything?” The slick-haired man smirked.
Sama gulped. “Whoa, whoa, whoa, I watch cartoons, it's NEVER good when someone says that...”
“All you have to do is sign a contract without actually reading it.” The man nodded.
Sama crossed his arms. “I'm not THAT dumb.”
“Fine... but where will you get a last minute gift? What will you do, write her a short story?” The man raised a eyebrow.
“Pah . . . good point.” Sama scratched his neck. “Okay, fine, I'll blindly sign a contract and hopefully nothing bad will happen.”
“Well, the cake box was huge but I've got bending powers.” Tazzy smiled as she walked into the Flan-I Temple, the giant cake was now on the table. “So in the end it wasn't so bad.”
“Bending powers would've helped me carry that D-D-R machine all the way across town.” Sama's arms were wobbling like jell-o. “Oh, and Kimi, there's a chance something bad will happen in the very near future that will be completely my fault.”
Kimi looked up from her manga.
“I'm just sayin', it's a possibility.” Sama scratched his neck.
“Shuddap, she's coming!” Spoony was looking out the window. “Everybody hide!”
There was a mad dash. HA stuffed himself in a closet with several bunnies, Tazzy hid behind the couch, Spoony hid behind the giant cake, Sama put a lampshade on his head and stood very still. Kimi didn't move.
“Oh, hi, hi guys!” Crystal opened the door and smiled. “What's going on?”
“Eh?” Sama lifted the lampshade off his head. “Oh, uh, actually it's a surprise party... so... surprise!”
“I know, Kimi called me and told me you guys were setting up a party and I shouldn't come by for a while.” Crystal nodded. “Wow, you guys made everything all pink! That's great!”
Spoony looked over at Kimi. “Why didn't you tell me you told her?”
“You didn't ask.” Kimi was still reading the manga.
“At least we have your presents!” Tazzy nodded. “And you're going to love them!”
It was at this moment that one of Crystal's presents had become too much for a certain swordsman. The closet door burst open and HA ran out, shaking his arms and legs like crazy trying to get the pink bunnies off. “GET 'EM OFF! Ahhh, it's HORRIBLE! They're so... cute! IT'S PAINFUL!”
HA ran around the room screaming and flailing about, trying to get the bunnies from off his body.
“. . . Is this what you guys normally do all day?” Spoony, used to working from his own office, asked.
“Pretty much. Someone is usually attacked by some kind of odd animal, be it a talking toucan, giant leeches or in this case a army of adorable and abnormally colored bunnies.” Tazzy explained.
“And I pay you why?” Spoony blinked.
“Heh, speaking of THAT... I put the cake on my super hero account.” Kimi said, taking a brief pause from reading her manga.
Spoony looked at the giant cake and whimpered. “Isn't there anyone who doesn't throw this city's money around like it grew on trees?”
Sama nodded. “Oh! I didn't spend any money!”
“Didn't you say there was a chance something evil could be all your fault?” Kimi reminded him.
“Yeah... but it was free evil.” Sama nodded proudly. “And we got Master Rose the DDR machine, so who cares?”
“You did whaaaaaaaat!?” Crystal jumped, turned around and looked at Sama. “Where is it?”
Sama blinked. “Huh? I put it over... Potatoes.”
Everyone looked to where the sidekick's finger was pointing. A large, empty corner of the room. Sama sighed. “How come everything I touch gets stolen?”
“Karma?” Kimi suggested.
“The ironic thing is I was a lousy thief.” Sama sweat dropped. “But . . . how does someone steal a giant machine without anyone noticing it?”
“IT WAS THE BUNNIES!” HA ran back into the room. “THE BUNNIES I TELL YA! THEY'RE EVIL!”
Crystal rolled her eyes. “Yeah, I'm sure a bunch of bunnies stole a DDR Machine.”
“My Queen, we have the machine!” A random pink bunny laughed.
“Excellent!” The Bunny Queen grinned. “Then we shall dance the night away! Turn the volume up full blast – let's wake up the neighbors!”
Hmm... somewhat random. XD I apologize if you didn't like it, CR, I've been trying to come up with something all week and I couldn't. <_< Writer's block. But I hope you found it funny. Happy birthday!
