Title: Spider-Man
Description: Discuss all things Spidey here!

Clown Prince of Crime - May 4, 2007 09:17 PM (GMT)
Hmmm... judging by the most recent message at the bottom of the board, I'm guessing it may be possible that BlueRush saw Spider-Man 3 recently...

Anywho, I think this shall now be... the official Spider-Man topic! All things Spidey shall be discussed here! Why is this in the anime zone? Because you can discuss the Spider-Man cartoon, as well... like I said, for all things Spidey related!

Oh... and GS worked on another Spidey topic, but he didn't know I was already making a Spidey topic... so, I'll put what he posted here:

QUOTE (GoldenSama @ May 7 2007, 10:54 PM)
This is the thread for Spidy 3 discussion.

... I haven't seen it, so I have nothing to add. XD

BUT! Please keep all discussion -- especially spoilers -- here and here alone. :3

I've already heard more than I want to hear about the new movie, so for me and for anyone else who hasn't seen it yet -- talk about it here, not in Chatty Chat.

Thank you.

GoldenSama - May 4, 2007 09:26 PM (GMT)
Well I haven't see it so no spoilers! I'll throw a hat at you!
... Hmm... hats don't make for good threats...
Uhh... I'll throw a delicious submarine sandwich at you!
... ah... but that's my dinner...
Err... I'll throw a pillow at you! But not a soft, comfy one... a stale and uncomfortable hotel pillow! Mwahahahaahahahah!
...

What was I saying?

tailsonic15 - May 4, 2007 09:30 PM (GMT)
Something about Cojo being back and another thing about Timmy Turner having FAIRY GODPARENTS!!!!!

Kimiko - May 4, 2007 09:59 PM (GMT)
AH! *HEAD+DESK*

Well, I am at my mother's computer and coming to you courtesy of Earthlink because that *grumble* BASTARD next door did something to HIS wireless internet so now we can't bum a connection off of him XD

Since I don't like using this computer (so... SLOW) and SRB is the only thing I can long in to (I can't even get to my Photobucket!), I may not be around until my mom gets us out own wireless connection thing. And who knows when THAT'LL be?

<3

Clown Prince of Crime - May 4, 2007 10:10 PM (GMT)
Well... I hope you'll still be around, Kimi. :hs:

And, GS, okay, I won't spoil anything, but I will say 2 things.

1) It was a pretty good movie, but...

2) Venom got the short end of the stick.

;_;

Sorry to hear it Kimi! Hopefully you get your own connection very soon, and hopefully you will still come see us from time to time while using the crappy slow connection.

...
Spoony... Why... >_< Well, it wasn't a lot of info.

Clown Prince of Crime - May 4, 2007 10:32 PM (GMT)
It's not really a spoiler, though. In fact, it's more of a warning. That is, don't get your hopes up on Venom being a big part of the movie! Cuz he's not. If you go into that movie not expecting much from Venom, you'll end up liking the movie more. ;)

Tazzy Porqupine - May 4, 2007 10:59 PM (GMT)
Speaking of Spider Man 3.... Both the band and orchestra teacher at our school skipped out on school today because they went and saw the midnight showing and stayed up 'till 3 watching it. -_-;; Talk about setting a great example... XD

???????????

Is proper english optional in the new movies???

And if bad english is somehow a spoiler, then just PM me about it, 'cause I could care less about spoilers (especially since it'll probobly be a long time before I ever see that movie).

And and, good luck with getting your internet connection back, Kimiko (word of advice, don't get Linkskys stuff!!!)!

(word of advice, don't get Linkskys stuff!!!)!

I second that emotion!

bad grammar.... OI! Don't tell me Eddie talks like a idiot when he's venom. >_<

I already had a feeling Venom's role would be small... I mean, you've got Green Goblin 2.0, Spidy in the black suit AND Venom all in one movie... plus the emotional stuff with Mary Jane and other random moments... movie wouldn't be long enough to contain all the goodness it should have.

I just hope it's not as bad as X3. >_<

Clown Prince of Crime - May 4, 2007 11:28 PM (GMT)
Before people start making theories, lemme clear this up. That line was from Peter Parker's landlord, who doesn't speak very good English. XD

And the main bad guys in this movie are Sandman and The New Goblin (aka Goblin Jr).

GoldenSama - May 4, 2007 11:53 PM (GMT)
WHOA. Sandman is in it too? O.o

Sandman, Venom, Black-Suit Spidy, New Goblin... Jeebus. It's only a 2 hour movie, right?

Clown Prince of Crime - May 5, 2007 12:06 AM (GMT)
2 Hours and 20 Minutes, I believe. And Venom is only in the last 20-30 minutes of the film. They have quite the full-plate... and Venom was, like... the dessert. Only, by that time, you're so full that you can't really fit the dessert in, even though you try really, REALLY hard.

GoldenSama - May 5, 2007 12:39 AM (GMT)
<_< THAT'S STUPID.

Venom is one of the best Marvel Villains ever. Instead of squeezing him in, they should have just made him appear at the last five minutes and then make it open ended for the sequel.

There's supposed to be 3 more sequels. Unfortunately, it's not confirmed if the cast & crew will return, and if they change too much it'll probably ruin things and then we won't have any more sequels. <_<

Oh well.

Clown Prince of Crime - May 5, 2007 12:44 AM (GMT)
Hey, like I said, I thought the movie was pretty good, but I hated how they handled Venom.

And if they make more sequels but with a different cast and crew... er, I can't say I'd be too happy about that. :/

GoldenSama - May 5, 2007 02:02 AM (GMT)
According to a article I read, Sam Raimi only added Venom because the Network Execs pressured him because the fans like Venom. Raimi didn't like how Venom was pretty much just a mindless monster and he wanted to use Harry and Sandman as villains who have deep reasons for their crimes.

I hate it when the film makers do something because they have pressure to do it. Then it's never as good as it should be. >_< Bah.

ANYWAY... I need to post, don't I? Heh, yeah, I thought so.

Clown Prince of Crime - May 5, 2007 02:32 AM (GMT)
Ya, I know that Sam Raimi hates Venom. He once stated that he would NEVER have Venom appear in any of the movies, so when I heard that Venom would be in Spider-Man 3, I thought it was a lie or a rumor.

The way that Venom was used in this movie, I think it's safe to say Raimi still doesn't like Venom.

I'll admit, though, it was still pretty cool to see him when he was on-screen... even if he wasn't on-screen much at all.

GoldenSama - May 5, 2007 02:39 AM (GMT)
Eh, I was a Hobgoblin fan myself.

I guess he was just pressured into doing it. Kinda sucks. But... the fans want what they want.

AGodofIrony - May 5, 2007 03:31 AM (GMT)
I think, besides my little brother maybe, that I'm the only one in my family who WANTS to see Spider-Man 3, so I'll probably have to wait till comes out to rent...So not until after this summer!

And trainers in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl wireless trade thingy are greedy little people...>.<...Did manage to get a Pichu though...Pichu's are cute.

I vaugely remember Venom back when I watched the old cartoons...If I remember right, when he was with Peter, didn't Peter get the ability to assume someone else's form?

GoldenSama - May 5, 2007 05:00 AM (GMT)
It's interesting.

In the animated series, Spidy got the Venom Symbiot from a Space Shuttle.

In the comics, he got the Symbiot from when he was in the Secret Wars.

I don't remember if Peter could transform or not.

Clown Prince of Crime - May 5, 2007 06:03 AM (GMT)
The symbiote can change shape, however it cannot change the shape of the person whose wearing it. Therefore, no. Peter could not change his form to look like someone else. However, he could change his symbiote to look like any clothes he wanted. This meant that he was wearing his costume all the time, so he could instantly turn into Spider-Man.

Avenger29 - May 5, 2007 06:05 AM (GMT)
GAH! WHERES TEH SPOILER ALERT?!?

Heh, its no prob, really. Its just that I haven't seen it yet. I'm supposed to see it with Nikki tomorrow, that is if it isn't sold out like I've been hearing.

AGodofIrony - May 5, 2007 06:51 AM (GMT)
I wasn't sure Spoony. I just vaugely remember something from many years ago.

And speaking of Threes, I'm looking forward to Shrek 3...

Crystal Rose - May 6, 2007 07:16 AM (GMT)
So it's safe to say I won't feel my legs for another week and a half....Just got home from prom :3 It was alot of fun (It could have been more fun if Tazzy could have gone...Why do you have to be a sophmore?!?! XD) It was really big and had like look of a fairy tale (our theme) and after that alot of us went to see Spiderman 3 :3 Amazing, that's all i'll say....Oh that and there was a crazy drunk man in our theatre....He kept screeming and cursing until someone escorted him out. Oh and there was some other guy in the thretre over who was view *ahem* somethin he shouldn't have been on his PSP while Spiderman was on. He got arrested and started crying XD

Crazy people come out on prom night XD

I'm going to sleep now......

AGodofIrony - May 6, 2007 07:29 AM (GMT)
Crazy people on prom? Get the flamethrower! Good you had a good time C_R!

Now to go play Paper Mario till three A.M...

AGodofIrony - May 6, 2007 07:40 PM (GMT)
Now if only I knew how to make skins...

Anyways, I ge to see Spider-Man 3 in about twenty minutes...My grandma is bringing me and my little brother, and my youngest sister...YAY!

Avenger29 - May 6, 2007 07:41 PM (GMT)
Its well worth the money. I just got finished blogging about it!

GoldenSama - May 6, 2007 08:10 PM (GMT)
I probably won't see Spiderman 3 for a while. >_< Sucks for me.

Yay for Prom C_R! ^^ Hope you had lots of fun.

New Teh City Skin? I have no idea how to make skins, and we'd need BR for it. Plus someone would have to draw it.

I finally beat Paper Mario 2! Mwahahahah! I got my butt whipped the first two times, but I just left, spent an hour killing mindless peons until I leveled up, and I re-thought my badge strategy... and, well, the boss went down. >:3

Now I need to beat the Pit of 100 Trials... which, I hear has a even tougher boss. >_<

Sorry I haven't posted a lot. I've been talking to and *trying* to talk to some friends on myspace. Kinda personal stuff that I don't really wanna talk about, but... yeah, just your normal teenage drama. >_<

EDIT: 700 PAGES! :3

AGodofIrony - May 6, 2007 10:59 PM (GMT)
Woot! Movie was pretty darn good! And I don't think Venom's gone for good...

Hmmm...Several things to do now!

Clown Prince of Crime - May 7, 2007 01:35 AM (GMT)
QUOTE (AGodofIrony @ May 6 2007, 02:59 PM)
And I don't think Venom's gone for good...

Man o man, do I hope you're right... because if that's all we're getting, than I swear I'm gonna cry.

Wow, CR... sounds like there was more going on around you in the theater than in the movie itself. o.o

GoldenSama - May 7, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
Mwahahah. I love it when I find a new way to play a game that I've long since beaten. I'm playing OoT without a shield. It's much harder, makes the game super fun again. ^^

Heeeeeeeeeeey! I know that poofing ninja guy! What was his name again? Murphy? XD

(You probably won't get this joke unless you've recently played PM:TTYD)

Venom in Spiderman 4? Maybe. They did say there was a possibility of three more sequels... but like I said, the actors and directors might not return, which IMO would make it suck.

(The director is trying to get hired for The Hobbit, so that's why he might return.)

Crystal Rose - May 7, 2007 02:39 AM (GMT)
XD There was a lot going on....Crazy drunk prom people....It was funny to start off but got sorta annoying when all I heard was "Oh no he didnt" ten thousand times from the same obnoxious guy and his friends >_>

GoldenSama - May 7, 2007 03:12 AM (GMT)
Well I'm sorry to hear it got annoying, but other than that, I take it you had fun? :3 At least, I hope so.

Drunk people are often annoying. I spent an evening playing poker with several old drunk men. They lost. XD

Clown Prince of Crime - May 7, 2007 03:22 AM (GMT)
Okay, well, going back to this Spidey 3 business... well, I can't say the reason, as it would be a spoiler... and GS hates spoilers. However, for that unspeakable reason, I highly doubt Venom could return in another movie. I mean... how could you explain Venom returning after that? Those who saw the movie might understand what I'm talking about.

That and... well, Sam Raimi hates Venom. It's a fact. He's even said so himself.

So... I don't want any cast changes, but... I dunno. Maybe a director change wouldn't be such a bad idea? I mean, heck... maybe we might get a director that actually likes Venom?

GoldenSama - May 7, 2007 03:25 AM (GMT)
Well, I'm too tired to think of their names, but I know the guy playing Spidy and the girl playing Mary Jane both said they would probably return if Raimi returns.

Also, it's possible that fans will want more of Venom! Even if Raimi doesn't like him, if the fans demand it, he might have him return.

But if Raimi gets The Hobbit, then Spidy-4 will have a new director.

The question is this... will a new director be good or bad? Maybe it'll make for more Venom, but what if the movie loses it's touch and they decide that 5 & 6 are bad ideas. >_<

Just as long as they don't get whoever director X3. <_< Whoever that guy was should not be allowed to direct any more superhero movies!

Clown Prince of Crime - May 7, 2007 03:33 AM (GMT)
Funny thing you should mention fans. The only reason Venom was in Spider-Man 3 is because Avi Arad used fan pressure to have Raimi include him after he had already finished his story. I just read about this, so now I understand why Venom felt so tacked on... why he didn't feel like he was really part of the story.

Geez, though, now I'm wondering what's to become a Spider-Man 4. If Raimi is still on, there's a good possibility of Venom not returning... especially due to... well, ya, something that happened in the movie. However, if we get someone else other than Raimi, there's the possibility that Tobey MacGuire and Kirsten Dunst might not come back. Also, the new director might be make the rest of the movies into a total disaster. Hmmm... but even if Raimi did have Venom returned, there's a lot about how Venom was portrayed that bugged me. The Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and Sandman were all done so well... but Venom really didn't come out the way he should have, I think. Though, this is just my opinion, and I'm sure there's people that might disagree with me.

Crystal Rose - May 7, 2007 11:23 AM (GMT)
I think Venom will come back, he's just that annoying in the movie XD But I actually like him as a villan, it made the storyline was very intresting in my opinion:3

GoldenSama - May 7, 2007 04:33 PM (GMT)
I like Venom. He should come back!

But I want to see Hobgoblin. I know they've had the father & son escapades of the Green Goblin family, but I like Hobgoblin. He's cool.

OR... uhhh... who else...

SEE. They never should have killed Doc Ock. If they let him live, they could've done the Sinister Six storyline. That would've been cool.

Clown Prince of Crime - May 7, 2007 09:47 PM (GMT)
Yes, Venom should come back... but watch the movie, GS, and you'll see why I have my doubts of Venom being able to come back without having some explaining to do.

And I like Hobgoblin, too, actually... though, I've noticed something. Venom being the exception, (and as was already stated, he was just tossed in at the last minute) all the villains have been classic villains from when Spidey first started out (in the comics).

The Green Goblin: Created by Stan Lee & Steve Ditko and first appeared July 1964
Doctor Octopus: Created by Stan Lee & Steve Ditko and first appeared July 1963
The Sandman: Created by Stan Lee & Steve Ditko and first appeared September 1963
Venom: Created by David Michelinie & Todd McFarlane and first appeared April 1987

Heh... from what I remember, Raimi has stated using villains that he grew up on as a child. He said part of his dislike for Venom was also that he didn't know much about him. He had people tell him about Venom so that he could do a better job of putting him in the movie, but in the end, his view of Venom didn't change. Now... I wouldn't mind seeing Hobgoblin, but if Raimi is still in charge, I'm not certain the chances are too high, the more I keep reading about Raimi and the way he feels about Spider-Man. Because Hobgoblin isn't a Spidey villain from his era.

The Hobgoblin: Created by Roger Stern & John Romita, Jr. and first appeared March 1983

I'm just speculating here, of course... and as GS has already stated, Raimi might not come back for Spider-Man 4 since he wants to do The Hobbit.

EDIT: Holy crap! o_o I dunno if this is true or not, but... if it is... well... just read this: http://www.freezedriedmovies.com/blog/inde...ready!.html
